The Divine Clawback: An Analysis of Suspended Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane's Prophecy Fulfilled

As if ripped straight from the pages of poetic justice, South Africa, Africa, and indeed, the entire world observed the downfall of Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane, a high-ranking official within the Chapter 9 institutions of South Africa. Mkhwebane, who held her tongue in confidence that her title was unassailable, once proclaimed - twice, in fact - that "only God can remove her from her powerful position." Now, her words have come back to haunt her, echoing in the abyss left by her removal from office.

When Mkhwebane first ascended the ranks to her eminent role as Public Protector, she was brimming with conviction. She was appointed for a term of seven years, a position imbued with the power to investigate cases of documented and probable government malfeasance. The post carried weight in the eyes of the global community, marking her an esteemed leader not just in South Africa, but also throughout Africa and worldwide.

She had promised to persist against all odds, stating at one point, "If I failed, then only God can remove me." The superlative certainty showcased in these fortuitous words demonstrated her indefatigable spirit and unyielding belief in her chosen path.

However, reality deviated from prophecy in June of last year when Mkhwebane was suspended from her duties. Open to interpretation, some view her suspension as divine intervention. Did God ultimately live up to Mkhwebane’s bold claim?

Her suspension probes the question of whether it constitutes God's implied arm of justice acting out her prophecy, or simply a manifestation of the swift arm of South Africa's judicial system enforcing the law without divine influence. The intriguing part of this tale lies not in the veracity of her prophecy but the profound paradox it has incited, entwining the mundane with the metaphysical in an unexpected clash of reality versus belief.

Whether her suspension qualifies as a divine dispatch is a complex question deeply tied to the perceptiveness of the observer. However, her exclusion from the office she staunchly believed she was ordained to hold until the end of her term is an undeniable fact.

Mkhwebane’s story is a poignant reminder of the unpredictable nature of life and power. It underscores the importance of humility in the face of authority and the unforeseen turns one's path can take, especially when trading in prophecies.

In interpreting the events that led to her suspension, it can be seen as a vivid fulfilment of her prophecy - one stirred by her own pronouncements and brought to fruition under the weight of her responsibilities. Equally possible is that this turn of events was merely the operational wheels of justice, untangling the knots of overconfidence.

In the larger scheme, her case opens up an engrossing discourse on the interplay of belief and power, further demystifying the universal puzzle of fate versus free will in a world where both threads intertwine.

I never truly felt well. After surviving a rough childhood, torn between a narcissist of a father and an unfeeling and emotionally neglectful mother, I learnt that I was the only one I could depend on.  I always felt like 'the black sheep' and found it hard to trust anyone.
In my teens, my lack of control in my life led to anorexia and binge eating disorders. My weight was about all I could truly take charge of. By the age of 17, I had also become a binge drinker- leading to becoming an alcoholic by age 21.
After transferring this lack of self-relationship to relationships with others, I found myself at the end of a string of emotionally vacuous and harmful relationships- culminating in a marriage to a narcissist (don't all girls end up marrying a version of their father?). Those self esteem issues came back and again via my weight- I protected myself by becoming morbidly obese. That was the only way my body could physically be off limits to an abusive husband (or so I thought).
After 14 years of being told I was ugly, worth nothing, a horrible mother and much more- I left! I packed the kids, dogs and cats into the car, loaded a truck and fled town.
The next 4 years saw a drawn-out legal battle that saw me lose everything except my babies. I had to start again but the toll of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Adverse Childhood Relationship Experiences (ACREs) and my adult relationship disasters (including the one with myself), years of stress and physical trauma to my body culminated in multiple conditions that threatened to end my life.
I threw myself into the study, learning about the systems of he body and how they each worked in harmony with each other, I sought help with my trauma and became truly well, truly loved (by myself and my kids).
I continued my study after becoming well and even though other conditions formed from medical negligence (before I was the master of my own health). I continued to become stronger, more able to handle anything in life and free from the past both physically and emotionally.
Now I am an instructor of PNEI of Trauma, the lead practitioner at Wholistic Natural Health Australia and the host of my own podcast.
