- 181 - Jesse Burgess rates our lemon chicken and sesame chilli oil cucumbers
The TOPJAW star has found his new favourite spot. Jesse Burgess is a presenter, filmmaker, and co‑founder of the award‑winning food and travel duo, TOPJAW. He’s at the Dish table to share the details about the second series of his Apple TV show, Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars. It’s a series produced by Gordon Ramsay’s production company which follows restaurants and chefs across the globe as they navigate the intense season of Michelin Guide reviews. A world, of course, which Angela knows well, having been awarded her first Michelin Star in 2004. Through TOPJAW, Jesse has put most of London’s top chefs (including our Angela) through his quickfire Best of London series. Which means we get some of the best recommendations for eats in the capital and beyond, along with a look into the cuisines which Jesse thinks are soon to get even more time in the spotlight. Over a Hazy IPA, we hear all about his incredible wedding feast and his favourite everyday dishes, most of which contain sausages. There’s a chance for Angela to share her own encounters with the mysterious Michelin inspectors, and to bust a few myths along the way. Angela serves lemon chicken, a recipe by Shu Lin, and sesame chilli oil cucumbers, along with a bottle of Naudet Sancerre, paired with the meal by the Waitrose wine experts. We finish with our first non-seated Fast Food Quiz (Dish: always breaking new ground) and be sure to look out for Nick’s appearance on TOPJAW very soon. Wed, 09 Sep 2026 - 180 - Daisy Edgar-Jones meets a new crush: our miso, lime & herb spatchcock chicken!
A tasty take on a roast for all seasons. Daisy Edgar-Jones is an English actor, known for her roles in TV shows like Cold Feet and the all-conquering Normal People, alongside performances in hit films such as Twisters, Where The Crawdads Sing and the upcoming adaptation of Sense and Sensibility. It’s a stew-free zone in the Dish kitchen, with Daisy explaining why she’s just not keen, despite her Irish heritage. Peas are also shown the door by Daisy, who has a preference for Japanese and fresh flavours... and roast dinners. A tailor-made opportunity for Angela to cook a miso, lime & herb butter-roasted spatchcock chicken, a recipe by Paul Gamble. It’s served with a side salad of fresh mangetout, radish and lettuce. And paired with the meal? Our first orange wine: a bottle of Côté Mas Vin Orange, selected especially for Daisy by Waitrose’s wine experts. What will Angela make of its debut?! It’s a great accompaniment to our chat covering first crushes, perfect picnics and working with all of the internet’s favourite boyfriends.. Daisy plays Elinor Dashwood in the upcoming adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, directed by Georgia Oakley and released on 25 September. She stars alongside Esmé Creed-Miles (Marianne Dashwood) and George Mackay, playing love interest Edward Ferrars. Daisy chats to Nick and Angela about how hand-written notes helped the pair focus on their roles, and how the period costumes frequently lead to funny moments in their downtime. And, yes, we're doing another live show! On 1 November, we'll be at the Royal Opera House with tickets going on sale here from midday today (2 September). Wed, 02 Sep 2026 - 179 - Dame Meera Syal is starry-eyed for our summery fish, fennel and saffron stew
The latest great Dame to join our party! Dame Meera Syal is an award-winning actress, comedian and writer, who sat down with us on the scorching-hot day of the solar eclipse. It’s a busy time for Meera ahead of the release of her life story, Vigilauntie: A Memoir - Innit?, and the opening of her new play, The Children. So, imagine our surprise when she arrived with home-baked goods in hand! What a legend. Meera is a firm believer in the power of food to get people talking and sharing stories, which is exactly what happens in our time with her around the Dish table. There are loving stories about her proud and supportive parents (including the secret to her mum’s saag paneer), and how Meera’s bakes bring new acting casts together. When discussing her rich and warm memoir (out on 3 September), we take a trip back to the groundbreaking work of Goodness Gracious Me and The Kumars at No. 42, where she played a grandmother to the man who’d become her husband: Sanjeev Bhaskar. It’s a feast of an episode, with a cooling mango & passion fruit frozen lassi to start, followed by a summery fish, fennel & saffron stew, a recipe by Eleanor Maidment. This is paired with a bottle of Altos de Torona Albariño by the Waitrose wine experts. We then have double dessert, including hug-worthy tahini, cherry and cardamom meringues and Meera’s own (and very yummy) lemon polenta cake. Don’t worry, we did get the recipe! Wed, 26 Aug 2026 - 178 - Ray Winstone is dazzled by pan-fried Dover sole with buttery capers and shallots
A top bit of Lillian for an acting legend. We’re delighted to host Ray Winstone at Dish for a meal fit for acting royalty. Ray, born and raised in East London, has starred on screens since his breakthrough role in Scum in 1979. Other credits from a storied career include That Summer!, Quadrophenia, Sexy Beast, The Departed and Nil By Mouth, alongside Kathy Burke and Gary Oldman. Ray has a strong connection to Sicily, and regularly spends time at his Italian retreat, where he lives with a degree of self-sufficiency growing fruit, vegetables, nuts and even making his own olive oil. As we find out, Ray has immersed himself completely into Sicilian culture, and takes time to swap notes with Angela about its benefits and idiosyncrasies. We also hear about Ray’s sweet tooth, his love of a rib of beef and slow cooked meats, and the joy of sharing sloppy pig trotters with pals. Angela serves up a Dover sole with buttery capers & shallots, inspired by this pan-fried plaice recipe, with sides of Jersey Royals and green helga beans. There’s also some of Angela’s own focaccia to help mop up any delicious buttery juices. The wine flows through the episode, beginning with a bottle of Recchia Amarone della Valpolicella, with M de Minuty Côtes De Provence Rosé the suggested pairing for the meal. Don’t forget the salted caramel truffles, too. They come along with the Goody Bag for the ultimate final temptation for Ray. Ray can be seen as crime boss Bobby Glass in The Gentlemen on Netflix right now, with Season 2 landing on 3 September. The show, directed and produced by Guy Ritchie, features a cast including Theo James, Vinnie Jones, Joely Richardson and former Dish guest, Kaya Scodelario. As we know from our chat with Natalie Portman, a set run by Guy Ritchie is always a tasty one, so what did Ray make of the catering?! You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and on Spotify. Wed, 19 Aug 2026 - 177 - Serge Pizzorno gets a kick from our spaghetti all’assassina
Angela takes on the ‘assassin’s method’ for our rock-star guest Serge Pizzorno is musician, songwriter, record producer and co-founder of Kasabian. The band, who release their latest album, Act III, on 4 September, have been together since the early ’00s, with Serge taking on frontman responsibilities in 2020. He joins us after a huge gig at London’s Finsbury Park, in front of 50,000 people - so the Fast Food Quiz in front of the Dish crew should be a doddle. Serge’s palate has been on quite a journey, from bread with no butter to taking on big hitting flavours, including today’s spicy pasta. Angela serves bucatini all’assassina, with burrata & ’nduja crumb, using spaghetti instead of bucatini. It’s a pasta cooked like no other we’ve made on Dish before, using risotto-esque techniques and producing spaghetti with a dark, smoky char. It’s served with focaccia from Angela’s range, and paired by the Waitrose wine experts with a bottle of Araldica Barbera D'Asti Superiore. It was so much fun getting to know Serge off-stage. From his Italian roots, to his loyalty to Leicester, and his life-long passion for bread, he is welcome back anytime. And not only are we confident you will want to try the recipe after this episode, but you might go in search of a runner’s high too. You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and on Spotify. Wed, 12 Aug 2026 - 176 - Jamie-Lee O’Donnell is mightily impressed by our tuna grill-das!
Fresh off a flight to take a seat at the Dish table. Jamie-Lee O’Donnell is an Irish actor known for her roles in Screws, Leonard & Hungry Paul, and Derry Girls as the iconic Michelle Mallon. Jamie-Lee jetted in from Barcelona to be with Nick and Angela for lunchtime skewers, and a catch up about film, TV and fashion projects galore. Fuelled by energy drinks after an early flight, Jamie-Lee brings no shortage of strong food opinions to the table. She loves her meals to be sharp and sexy, but not wiggly, and feels passionately about crisp toasties and a chicken box after a night out at ‘le pub’. Angela responds to her list of likes and dislikes with a Spanish-influenced meal for Jamie-Lee. Starting with gildas three ways before tuna grill-das, served with a tomato & cucumber salad with mint & whipped feta, and a side of sweet and smokey Cornish potatoes. We begin with a glass of Campo Viejo Rioja Tempranillo Red Wine, while the main is paired with a bottle of Fleur d'Azur Luberon Rosé by the Waitrose wine experts. Jamie-Lee can be seen at the Goodwood Revival, which takes place from 18-20 September. She’s appearing on the Style Stage to talk about her passion for fashion and the importance of costume across her variety of roles. Tickets for the weekend are on sale right now. We also chat about Jamie-Lee’s role in the upcoming movie Girl Group, directed by Rebel Wilson, and find out about a haircut that proves to be a real talking point. Wed, 05 Aug 2026 - 175 - Tom Holland, Part 2. The skewers sequel... this time, it’s pork and pineapple!
Is he our new co-host now?! We return to the table with Tom Holland for another instalment of Dish, as the actor shares stories from his big summer on cinema screens. After focusing on The Odyssey in Part 1, we switch from Greek armour to spandex and chat about Spider-Man: Brand New Day, out now in UK cinemas. After first being cast at the age of 18, Tom returns as Peter Parker for a fourth time alongside stars including Zendaya, Jon Bernthal and Sadie Sink. The production was shot in locations across the UK, including London and Glasgow, bringing city traffic to a standstill, as Angela can verify! Luckily Tom has saved room for more food, and we continue our feast with a serving of spicy pork & pineapple skewers and a village Greek salad, which is a Georgina Hayden recipe. The meal is served with a side of garlic and rosemary potatoes, and the wine pairing is a bottle of Isula Mea Syrah-Sciaccarellu Rosé IGP Ile de Beauté. Tom is a family guy, and we get to hear all about his brother Sam, a chef who makes fantastic food and isn’t afraid to boss Tom about in the kitchen. There’s an end of the show challenge to impress Angela, and we finally get to hear what Tom’s favourite kitchen utensil is. You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and on Spotify. Wed, 29 Jul 2026 - 174 - Tom Holland returns! Part 1 featuring smokey skewers and... pigs in blankets
The Odyssey star joins us for a skewer voyage. We’re delighted to host Tom Holland once again. His appearance on our Christmas 2024 special is written in Dish lore, so we jumped at the chance for a reunion ahead of a huge summer for the British actor. And that time came after England’s early morning World Cup victory over Mexico. Guess who of our trio stayed up for it? Released a few weeks apart, Tom is in two global blockbusters certain to dominate cinema screens. First up is The Odyssey, as part of an all-star cast including Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. The film, directed by Christopher Nolan, delivers the Homer epic at scale, shooting on IMAX cameras in locations across the world. The Odyssey is out now, ahead of Tom’s second summer film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day: and that’s the focus of Part 2 of our chat, released next week on 29 July. We love Tom Holland, the summer edition, and our free-flowing conversation moves from filming with Lionel Messi, to meme-worthy red carpet poses, and an inside perspective on the challenge of Hot Ones. Alongside a menu of summery skewers and salads, Angela’s sights are set on pigs in blankets redemption, after burning them for Tom when they last met. Can our super chef deliver a perfectly cooked, sticky starter? Stay tuned to find out... The pigs are the warm-up ahead of padrón pepper and halloumi skewers using the Ottolenghi sweet & smokey seasoning. It’s served with an asparagus, pea & mint salad with lamb’s lettuce and lemon and chive dressing, a recipe by Ellie Curshen. Dish is on high alert as we’re joined by the ‘food shark’. Fresh off a flight from New York, we’re delighted to welcome Simon Pegg. An English actor and comedian, Pegg is loved for his iconic TV and movie roles, be that TV sitcom Spaced, the Mission: Impossible franchise or The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy (Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World’s End), in which he stars alongside good pal Nick Frost, who we know as a great onion chopper. Wed, 15 Jul 2026 - 172 - Sophie Willan falls for our golden chicken, tomatoes and green beans...
And shares her own secret recipe with Angela. Sophie Willan is a three-time BAFTA winning comedian, actor, writer and author, and a very good friend of Dish. We first hosted Sophie for our debut live - and unrecorded - show in London. So, we just had to have her back and set everything to record this time round. Sophie is best known for her hit show, Alma’s Not Normal, which has seen her win BAFTA after BAFTA. She’s also appeared in Ludwig and Small Prophets, and went down in Taskmaster folklore for her star turn on the show. She is on Dish to talk about her new job, hosting The Great British Sewing Bee alongside judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young, with the new series on the way very soon. Sophie’s partner, Carniel Francis-Levy, is a chef, and the couplehad their first child, Elijah, last year. Over a glass of Waitrose Blueprint Prosecco, we chat about life as a new mum and hear about the benefits and challenges of living with a great cook. Angela serves a comforting dish of perfectly cooked golden chicken, tomatoes & green beans, paired with a glass of Calvet Sancerre Rosé. But that’s not the end of the cooking, as Sophie demonstrates her favourite, and somewhat challenging, food combination for Angela’s verdict. Welcome back Sophie. Do come again! Wed, 08 Jul 2026 - 171 - Sam Smith is delighted by our lobster rolls with lemon & dill
They’ve got lobster on their mind! Sam Smith is a BRIT Award, Grammy, Golden Globe and Oscar-winning singer and songwriter. They join us ahead of the release of their new album, Hazel Eyes, which is released on 21 August and features their new single, My Guy. But first, it’s time for the long-awaited debut of lobster on Dish, the perfect star ingredient for a guest who once had aspirations to be a fishmonger, and also ideal to help Angela through a small hangover. Sam lives in New York with their partner Christian, and tells us about the impact the move has had on their tastebuds and their capacity to handle heat. They’ve also recently started a food blog on Instagram, SamServed, where you can get a glimpse of their favourite dishes including fish and chips, peanut butter and chicken wings. Another favourite is turnip cake, which tastes so good, Sam had it tattooed on their body. We start with caviar on crisps and ice cold Waitrose Blanc de Noirs Champagne, before Angela serves up lobster rolls with lemon & dill. Wed, 01 Jul 2026 - 170 - Sir Lenny Henry loves our seared scallop & tomato tagliatelle
Comic Relief! Meeting Prince! Seasoned food! Sir Lenny Henry is a hugely celebrated comedian, actor, writer and broadcaster. He first appeared on our screens in 1975 when, at the age of 16, he made his debut on the talent show New Faces. Over fifty years later, he joins us to talk through some of the choice moments of his career, providing a fantastic taster of his current show, Still At Large. We have some cookery crossover, too, with Lenny famously playing Michelin starred Gareth Blackstock in the ‘90s sitcom, Chef! The part came with hours of training and prep work, cutting parsley and gutting rabbits which, as he explains, helped sharpen his skills as a stand-up. There’s lots of love for Lenny’s mum, a fantastic cook with a natural flair for great home-cooked meals, but less fondness for any food with antennae. From his very first outing as a comic and impressionist to taking on Othello at the age of 50, Lenny relives a number of pivotal milestones in his career over a delicious bowl of seared scallop & tomato tagliatelle. This is accompanied by a glass of Paolo Leo Fiano del Salento, and a couple of great stories about encountering Prince... and then working with him. Still At Large is on tour across the UK until November 3 and you can buy tickets at fane.co.uk/lenny-henry. You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and on Spotify. Wed, 24 Jun 2026 - 169 - Kevin McCloud is served pork chops with his own home-grown pickled rhubarb
A picture perfect plate for this Grand Designs legend. Another first for the show, as Kevin McCloud brings along freshly grown produce for Angela to add to their meal. The Grand Designs presenter delivered fresh rhubarb and a variety of apples (in a variety of conditions) that were quickly chopped and prepped for a couple of dishes. Kevin, who lives in the Herefordshire countryside, is a keen fruit and vegetable grower, and passionate about local and organic foods. Only natural, then, that he turned up to Dish the day after eating a pizza! Perhaps that’s his Italian travels coming through - Kevin once lived in Italy, working on a farm in Tuscany before going on to study in Florence. He’s with us to chat about his latest TV show, Kevin McCloud’s Listed Britain, a look at the country’s greatest buildings and the stories behind them. From the Penguin Pool at London Zoo to the Lovell Telescope at Jodrell, Kevin explores over 20 of the highest designated listed buildings in a show that you can stream on More 4 now. After a glass of warm beer and chat about the importance of pubs, Angela delivers a construction that Kevin heartily approves of: pork chops with pickled rhubarb and shaved fennel. It’s a recipe by Ed Smith which is paired with a bottle of Chapel Down Bacchus. Kevin’s apples then take centre stage with an open apple tart and dairy-free vanilla ice cream. There’s then time to reflect on 27 years of Grand Designs, with (finally) an explanation as to why the windows are always the problem. We also make Kevin choose his favourite apple (how could we?!) and kit up in high vis gear for a special End of Show Question. You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and on Spotify. Wed, 17 Jun 2026 - 168 - Marcus Mumford joins us for Awadhi chicken pulao and all the sides
A one-pot wonder shared with a chart-topping star. Marcus Mumford is an American-British singer, songwriter, musician and producer. He is best known as the lead singer of the award-winning English folk-rock band Mumford & Sons. Marcus took the train from his home in Devon to visit us for a chat about the band’s latest album, Prizefighter, and their headline show at BST Hyde Park on 4 July. But before that, we take a closer look at some of Marcus’s favourite meals, including beef Wellington which, we find out, is a dish Angela is only going to master in exceptional circumstances. We hear about how Marcus and his wife, actor Carey Mulligan, have a small but mighty crop of fruit and veg at their Devon home, and how they like to entertain... at lunchtimes. We also get the recipe for Marcus’s cauliflower salad that routinely impressed Taylor Swift, the origin story of his Oscar tattoos, and how he and the band have moved away from warm beer, chocolate and crisps in their dressing room. Angela cooks Ravinder Bhogal’s Awadhi chicken pulao, served with naans, poppadoms and mango chutney. The suggested wine pairing is a bottle of Jackson Estate Sauvignon Blanc, while Marcus enjoys a 0.0% Gin & tonic. You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and on Spotify. Wed, 10 Jun 2026 - 167 - Emilia Clarke’s dreams come true with our super greens vignole with lamb
We welcome a Dish listener who’s been a fan since day one! There’s a whole lot of love around the Dish table as we welcome long-time listener, first-time visitor, Emilia Clarke. The actor, known for her incredible and life-changing role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game Of Thrones, brings her passion for food, Nick, Angela and martinis to a special episode marking the fourth anniversary of Dish. Emilia starts by showing why writing down your food likes when slightly hungover makes for a long and salty list. But what a list it is, as we get great detail about the fish, vegetables and meats that whet Emilia’s appetite, as well as the specific textures and ingredients that don’t make it onto her plate. Emilia is also a regular cook, who is willing to take on any challenge when making food for friends and family, or herself while away on set. Emilia can currently be seen in PONIES, a 70s spy thriller set in Russia, which is currently available to watch on Sky and Now in the UK and Ireland. Emilia and co-star Haley Lu Richardson play two women working at the US embassy in Moscow who, after the mysterious deaths of their husbands in a plane crash, become CIA agents to investigate what happened. The role came with Emilia having to master Russian, a skill which she did with the help of a very impressive memory palace. The episode begins over a glass of Laurent-Perrier La Cuvée Champagne and a start of tomato tonnato salad. It’s followed by rack of lamb, inspired by this recipe for super greens vignole with lamb steaks, and there’s even enough time for an elderflower & mint martini. The Waitrose wine experts paired the meal with a bottle of Villa Cafaggio Chianti Classico. Cheers Emilia... and happy fourth birthday to us, too! Wed, 03 Jun 2026 - 166 - Jodie Whittaker surprised with our tagliatelle with asparagus, peas, shallots & capers
We also enlist her as our first Dish sommelier. Jodie Whittaker is an English actor known for her roles in Broadchurch, Doctor Who, Frauds and Toxic Town. Jodie, who was born in West Yorkshire but now lives in London, arrives at Dish with the perfect mindset; hungry and up for trying anything. So, a menu full of surprises it is, as we sit down to chat about Jodie’s latest project: Dear England. The TV series is an adaptation of the hugely successful play that looks at Gareth Southgate’s time as England manager. We start things with a Hugo spritz, while learning about Jodie’s favourite cuisines and the restaurant trip that brought her to tears... in a good way. Angela then serves a bowl of tagliatelle with asparagus, peas, shallots & capers, a Diana Henry recipe that Jodie could cook at home... but probably won’t. The wine pairing is Jodie’s choice as she opts for the Loved & Found Carricante. The surprises don’t stop there, as Angela has also prepared a lemon thyme, honey & polenta cake, hitting the sweet spot perfectly. Jodie’s a joy to hang with as we discover the unique sandwiches she had as a child, the valuable support of her parents as she set about a career in acting, and the little things that make a difference for her while on a TV set. The wines featured in Jodie’s wine tasting also included No.1 Coteaux d'Aix en Provence Rosé Provence and the Loved & Found Grolleau Gris. You can watch the first two episodes of Dear England on BBC iPlayer now with the series’ final parts broadcasting on May 30 and 31. You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and on Spotify. Wed, 27 May 2026 - 165 - Jon Favreau is impressed by our cacio e pepe gnocchi with broccoli & walnuts
Yes! Chef! Nick and Angela are joined by Jon Favreau for an episode packed with appreciation for great food, and the creativity and passion that goes into making it. Jon arrives in the kitchen in the middle of a gigantic world press tour to promote his new movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, the latest adventure in the Star Wars universe. The film, of which Favreau is director, co-writer and producer, is out in cinemas this week and boasts an all-star cast including Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White. Jon is well versed with the culinary world, most notably with his 2014 film Chef, where he played a cook who starts up his own food truck. In order to prepare for the role, he schooled up on a range of cooking techniques with long-term collaborator, the Korean-American chef Roy Choi. Jon’s passion for chef life also extended to him getting his own commercial kitchen fitted and working with Choi on The Chef Show, where he shared meals with celebrity guests including Gwyneth Paltrow and one of our faves, Tom Holland. Add those credentials to his back catalogue of film work, which includes Iron Man, The Jungle Book and Elf, and you have the ingredients for a top quality Dish guest. The episode’s meal is a request from Jon: a simple but perfect Cacio e pepe gnocchi with broccoli & walnuts, a creation he admires from the best spot in the kitchen. The wine pairing is a bottle of Broglia Gavi DOCG. Enjoy this one, food lovers, as Jon shares his joy for food with us all. We get to level up the Fast Food Quiz, hear about DJing for Mark Ronson, find a rare Favreau knowledge gap, and ‘the clean plate club’ is born. Wed, 20 May 2026 - 164 - Paapa Essiedu can’t resist our spicy prawn tacos with rhubarb and scotch bonnet salsa
Stories of superstitious drinks and a cheese grudge. Paapa Essiedu is a highly acclaimed actor, known for his work across stage and screen. After attending Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Paapa joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, making his debut in The Merry Wives of Windsor at the age of 22. Other stage credits include Death of England: Delroy, The Effect and, most recently, All My Sons, a performance which saw him win an Olivier Award. Paapa joins Nick and Angela to talk about two TV projects, including Falling, where he plays a priest who falls in love with a nun, portrayed by former Dish guest Keeley Hawes. The show is the first love story written by Jack Thorne, whose credits include Adolescence, His Dark Materials, Toxic Town and Skins. Falling is available to stream and watch live on Channel 4 from May 19. You’ll also see Paapa in Babies, opposite Siobhán Cullen, as a couple struggling through the experience of pregnancy loss. The series, available on BBC iPlayer, has garnered praise for the poignant handling of its subject matter. It’s an episode with a chilli kick, with big-batch spicy margaritas to get things started and then spicy prawn tacos with rhubarb & scotch bonnet salsa to keep things going. The tacos are a recipe by Ixta Belfrage, which is paired by our wine experts with a glass of Tohu Sauvignon Blanc Awatere Valley. Paapa is a huge fan of big bold flavours, including Thai and Mexican cuisine, and there’s also plenty of love for fresh tomatoes and, thanks to his recent theatre run, white chocolate matcha lattes. And, after recently taking up cooking classes, what skills can Paapa glean from watching Angela in the kitchen? You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and on Spotify. A welcome meal for the star amidst her West End run. Rosamund Pike is the latest theatre actor to visit us in the middle of a hectic show schedule, with a performance at London's Wyndham's Theatre to follow her visit to Dish. In Inter Alia, Rosumund stars as Jessica Parks, a London Crown Court Judge balancing work, motherhood and friendship. It’s an incredible central performance that earned Rosamund an Olivier Award for Best Actress, just a few days before we sat down to record. Rosamund, celebrated for her roles in Pride & Prejudice, Die Another Day, Gone Girl and I Care A Lot, also has a new film on the horizon; Ladies First is a fantastical comedy where a misogynistic CEO Damian (Sacha Baron Cohen) finds himself in a world dominated by women, with Alex, played by Rosamund, as his boss. Ladies First is coming to Netflix on 22 May. Angela serves Rosamund a beautiful dish of roast trout with brown butter alongside freshly cooked asparagus. The meal is perfectly paired with a glass of The Ned Pinnacle Sauvignon Blanc. In Big Mood, Nicola plays Maggie, a playwright who suffers with bipolar disorder, in a show centred around her relationship with best friend Eddie, played by Lydia West. Time extremely well spent with a master of storytelling... and barbecuing! Dave Grohl in the Dish studio. It finally happened. Gemma, who lives in West Sussex with her husband - the actor Rory Keenan - plays a MI6 officer, heading up the Russia desk in a thriller full of buried secrets. First up is a glass of Le Arenarie Vermentino di Gallura (available at waitrosecellar.com) to accompany Angela’s homemade soda bread. The wine’s minerality is also the perfect partner for the main course of crab, caramelised fennel & red chilli linguine, with a pangrattato for extra crunch. We hear all about the qualities of a good spy, and why Nick and Angela probably won’t be getting a call from MI6 just yet. Wed, 08 Apr 2026 - 158 - Niall Horan joins us for an epic beef Bourguignon pie
Bow down to the King of Crimping! On this episode of Dish, we have a wonderful time in the company of Irish singer-songwriter, Niall Horan. Niall rose to prominence as a member of One Direction and, following the band’s hiatus, has been releasing music and touring as a solo artist. His latest single, Dinner Party, is out now, with an album of the same name, due out on 5 June. Following the completion of his pre-show ‘survey’, we were able to make Niall’s Dish dreams come true by not only serving him a hearty pie, but getting him to make his own version to take home for a second helping. Things begin with a strong Pomegranate Negroni that seems to hit the spot. We get to hear about Niall’s first time out on a stage, his aversion to a range of vegetables and the presence of fruit in a savoury meal. We then hit the main course, a pie which uses Martha Collison’s beef bourguignon for the filling, served with a cauli-cheddar mash. It was the full pie experience, with a shortcrust pastry base and top, all served with a glass of No.1 Côtes du Rhône Villages. Thank you to Niall for naming his record Dinner Party, which made for a great conversation about the music, but was also the perfect excuse for some end-of-show icebreakers... when the ice was already well and truly broken. As you may have guessed, this episode was recorded ahead of St Patrick’s Day. You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and on Spotify. Wed, 01 Apr 2026 - 157 - Maisie Adam is absolutely delighted with our spiced leg of lamb
Zero chance of MPTF in this episode. We’re joined by Maisie Adam, comedian and podcaster, for an Easter feast and chat about her upcoming tour. Maisie, who can be currently seen in the second series of Last One Laughing, tours the country from September with her show, Whatsherface. Maisie explains to Nick and Angela about how the tour came to get its fantastic name and why touring is the best bit of the job. We’re just keeping our fingers crossed that she won’t be living with her parents by the time it comes around. With some experience in the food industry, it’s no wonder Maisie’s likes and dislikes cover so much varied ground, from smoky mezcal to cheese on toast, and the challenges of noodles and peanuts. Equally strong are her opinions on food to plate ratios, the best thing to eat at the football, and is this our first guest to actually enjoy their school dinners? Inspiration for your Easter weekend comes in the form of an Aperol spritz and a generous serving of Angela’s herb & spice roast leg of lamb with fresh greens and new potatoes. This is paired by the Waitrose wine experts with a Grant Burge Barossa Ink Shiraz, but we also treat Maisie to her favourite wine: a glass of Picpoul de Pinet. Just don’t ask her to check it. Our first serving of soup on Dish. Sara Pascoe is a comedian, actor, presenter and writer who loves soup with her entire being. Time, then, for Angela to dust off the ladle and serve Sara the best minestrone, using a recipe from Martha Collison. But will it win round Nick, who cannot shake the association of soups and smelly office kitchens? We’re joined by Sara to discuss her new show, Zero Stars, coming to TLC from mid-April. In Zero Stars, Sara and her pal Roisin Conaty travel around the world to visit places and activities with bad reviews and terrible ratings. You can also see Sara on Mock The Week, which, after a three year absence, has returned to TV on TLC. At the table, we hear about Sara’s love of performing, stand-up and... Take That, a band who, like soup, are essential parts of the Pascoe lifestyle. Just don’t make her choose between them. The wine pairing for the minestrone is Waitrose’s Blueprint Gavi but, with a stand-up gig later in the day, Sara is sticking to coffee.. Angela adapts the minestrone recipe to make it vegan, using vegetable stock and vegan cheddar cheese. Soup-erb! You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and on Spotify. Wed, 18 Mar 2026 - 155 - Louis Theroux can’t get enough of our spiced short-ribs and pitcher of paloma
And saves room for a crumble! Louis Theroux is a BAFTA-winning documentarian, journalist, broadcaster and author, and not someone to let a pre-show lunch get in the way of a Dish feast. Over paloma cocktails, Nick and Angela enjoy an hour in the company of the legendary interviewer, who started making documentaries for the BBC in 1998. He joins us to talk about his new Netflix film, Louis Theroux: Inside The Manosphere, where he journeys into the controversial world of websites, shows and influencers promoting ultra-masculinity and misogyny. Despite arriving on a full stomach, there was no spoiling Louis’ meal. Angela served five spice & lemongrass short ribs, paired by the Waitrose wine experts with a glass of Penfolds Bin 28 Shiraz. There’s dessert, too, in the shape of a rhubarb & pear crumble, a Chetna Makan recipe, which makes the most of seasonal ingredients. Any pre-show nerves about interviewing Louis were quickly dispelled with one sip of paloma. We get to hear all about Louis’ own cooking and baking skills, how he deals with fans who show their love in extraordinary ways, and the challenges of taking your children to a Michelin star restaurant. Plus, find out which of our Fast Food Quiz questions gets the much-coveted Louis Theroux seal of approval. You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and on Spotify. Wed, 11 Mar 2026 - 154 - Jennifer Garner joins us for the ultimate Mother's Day roast beef
Can we take a moment for the Yorkshire puddings, too! We welcome Jennifer Garner to Dish for our Mother’s Day special, and the award-winning actor, known for her roles in Alias and the cult rom-com 13 Going on 30, is the perfect guest for such an occasion. Jennifer is a mum to three children and has a wonderful relationship with her mother, Pat, whose cooking helped shape Jennifer’s huge love of food. Jennifer has been pulling together meals on her Pretend Cooking Show (seen on Instagram) for years, with Pat making some great cameos along the way. No surprise, then, that she is very passionate about all the fine eats in life, like pizza, bread, roast chicken and big American salads. She sits down with us to chat about Season 2 of The Last Thing He Told Me, a thriller, which can be seen now on Apple TV. The show is based on the hugely popular books of US author Laura Dave, and sees Jennifer in the lead role of Hannah, unravelling the mysterious disappearance of her husband. Angela pulls out all the stops for our Mother’s Day roast with an incredible meal of roast beef & hasselback potatoes with chimichurri alongside perfect Yorkshire puddings, which seem to catch Jennifer by surprise. The meal is paired by our Waitrose wine experts with a bottle of Dona Paula El Alto Single Vineyard Malbec. So, for anyone wondering how to treat your mum this year, look no further. And please do share the results! You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and on Spotify. Wed, 04 Mar 2026 - 153 - Chris McCausland enjoys our cottage pie and a ginger beer
We welcome a man with clear rules on food! Chris McCausland is a comedian, author, and Strictly Come Dancing champion. Within minutes of sitting down with Nick and Angela, he’s critiquing the Dish chair and explaining the mathematical shape of a Pringle, setting the tone for a brilliantly entertaining episode. Chris is one of the busiest people on the circuit, with his tour Yonks spanning years, multiple legs, and even multiple shows in a day. Alongside that, his memoir Keep Laughing tells the story of his life, from growing up in Liverpool and losing his sight, through to becoming one of the UK’s most loved stand-ups. He tells us how the book came together without a plan, why writing about his early life proved more interesting than his comedy career, and how Strictly opened him up emotionally in ways he never expected. Chris is greeted with a cold Fentimans ginger beer and salt and vinegar Pringles – his favourite! Next up, Angela served a piping hot cottage pie using a recipe by Martha Collison, with a side of Savoy cabbage. The British classic was paired with a No.1 Viña Lorea Reserva Rioja to complement the rich, savoury meat and creamy potatoes. There is plenty of food chat along the way, from Chris’s deep love of Italian dishes like bolognese and pizza (a life-changing discovery at university), to his dedication to sausages on tour, balanced by what he calls “sausage dark days”. We also get into the gamble of hotel eggs, his theory about spice levels, and how mayo has taken over the sandwich market. As for the cottage pie? A straight 10 from everyone! Wed, 25 Feb 2026 - 152 - Tom Davis falls in love with our steak pie
Angela’s hearty dish makes quite the impression! Tom Davis is an actor, comedian, podcaster, writer and proud south Londoner. Fresh from delivering the goody bag for Romesh Ranganathan, he settles in with us for a proper catch-up over a delicious pie. Tom’s latest tour, Spudgun, sees him return to the comedy circuit after a period away from the stage. You’ll have seen and heard from him plenty in that time, though, with acting credits including Wonka and A Thousand Blows plus TV appearances on shows including A League Of Their Own and, of course, his weekly podcast with Romesh, Wolf & Owl. Tom famously started out in comedy when he was working on building sites, but less is known about his time in the restaurant industry. He chats to us about his work in the kitchen, including a spell at The Connaught, which sadly didn’t overlap with Angela’s time there. The chat begins over sliced bread and a glass of Botivo with elderflower cordial and soda, before we hit the pie. Angela serves a steak pie, using a recipe by Diana Henry, with a gluten free version for Nick, all accompanied by a side of Savoy cabbage. The Waitrose wine experts have paired this meal with a glass of Norton Winemaker's Reserve Malbec. Tom knows his food and possesses some excellent eating credentials, none more so than his completion of The Big Five eating challenge, as well as his unwavering passion for bread and potatoes. We also hear the loveliest story about Olivia Colman, which is always an excellent way to spend your time. Now, pass the Croydon croutons! Wed, 18 Feb 2026 - 151 - Romesh Ranganathan loves our cauliflower & spinach curry and fiery margaritas
The wait for a man at the top of our wish-list is finally over. Romesh Ranganathan has been on the Dish radar for a long time. Last year, Nick and Angela visited him on his Radio 2 show and extended the invite to join us for dinner. This year, we managed to sync diaries and make it a Valentine’s date! Romesh is a BAFTA-winning comedian, actor, writer and presenter. He is currently starring alongside Sheridan Smith in the West End Play, Woman In Mind, and took a seat with us to chat about his upcoming stand-up tour, Romesh Ranganathan Will Change Your Life. It’s a show which he is promoting well in advance, with dates starting in January next year. Sounds organised? It has to be, with Romesh also hosting two podcasts, including Wolf & Owl with Tom Davis alongside TV shows such as The Weakest Link and A League Of Their Own. Officially booked and busy. Over non-alcoholic fiery lime margaritas, we quickly got to understand the intricacies of Romesh’s food likes and dislikes, including his late night chilli oil temptations and how his love of doughnuts made for a business venture. And, seeing as we are celebrating Valentine’s Day, we pulled out The Oven Glove of Romesh Love, filled with Ranganathan appreciation to combat his talent for self-deprecation. The decision for today was left in Angela’s hands, as Romesh opted for ‘chef’s choice’. Chef wisely decided on a delicious cauliflower and spinach curry with all the sides. The Waitrose wine experts paired this meal with a No.1 Gruner Veltliner, described as an exceptionally food friendly dry, crisp white wine. Stick around for the End of Show Question, too, because we found a great courier for the goody bag delivery. He’s on next week! You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and on Spotify. Wed, 11 Feb 2026 - 150 - Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty enjoy a feast of dal gosht
The Golden Globe winners join us for a tasty Dish dinner. We return back from a break with a full table hosting two incredible actors, Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty. Just days after their Golden Globes success (where they both won awards for their roles in Adolescence), Stephen and Erin join us to chat about Season 2 of A Thousand Blows, now streaming on Disney +. The series sees them reprise their roles as bare-knuckle boxer Sugar Goodson and notorious criminal Mary Carr in the historical drama set in the East End. But before any chat, Stephen needs to be fed. He is starving! Angela delivers with a dal gosht, a north Indian curry from Mallika Basu, where lamb falls off the bone into a sauce packed with spiced lentils. The Waitrose wine experts have paired the meal with a bottle of cave de Turckheim Gewurztraminer, but our quartet are focusing on spicy rum sours, made with non-alcoholic rum. To finish, Angela makes a last-minute decision to pull together a millefeuille, under Stephen’s watchful gaze. It’s a brilliant episode to launch our ‘Dish Eternal Infinity’ season, with chat about the perfect pan of Scouse, the merits of prawn cocktail crisps (Erin, we’re with you on that one), and there’s a Dish debut for a Lazy Susan. As for Stephen’s hunger? Most definitely dealt with! You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and on Spotify. Wed, 04 Feb 2026 - 149 - Helena Bonham Carter, cheese toasties with sticky shallots, and a prosecco
Comfort food and a bottomless snack bag for our season finale. Helena Bonham Carter is an award-winning English actress known for her incredible performances across films including the Harry Potter movies, Howards End, Planet of the Apes, Sweeney Todd, The King’s Speech and TV series such as Toast and The Crown. There are certainly too many credits to mention for a star who made her debut in 1985 in A Room with a View. She’s with us to talk about her latest role as Lady Caterham in Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials, which starts streaming on Netflix from 15 January. This is her first time in a Queen of Crime adaptation, with co-stars including Mia McKenna-Bruce and former Dish guest, Martin Freeman. Helena comes equipped with her sizeable snack bag, curated especially for her life on-set, but there’s still room for Dish’s first cheese toasties, featuring five different cheeses. The cheese toasties with sticky shallots are paired with the Loved & Found Feteasca Alba Brut, which sadly is no longer available to buy. The Waitrose wine experts have since lined up the perfect replacement; a glass of Valdo Elevantum Prosecco. For this episode, Nick, Angela and Helena also enjoy a Mother Root and tonic, alongside the many, many other beverages that make it on to the table. From the perilous times on the set of Seven Dials to helping Helena overcome her rice intimidation, we finish up season 8 of Dish with a hearty serving of good company. There’s a short break now before we return in February for more. Til next time! You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and, new for this season, on Spotify. Wed, 14 Jan 2026 - 148 - Tim Key, sticky sausage & apple braise, and a beer
Bangers and mash in action for our first poet. Tim Key, an English poet, comedian, actor and screenwriter, joins Nick and Angela to fire up Dish in 2026. Last year was a huge one for Tim, made notable by the release of The Ballad Of Wallis Island, a film he stars in alongside best friend Tom Basden. The pair wrote the screenplay together, basing it on a short film they had made nearly 20 years earlier. It has amassed critical and popular acclaim, winning three British Independent Film Awards. Alongside The Ballad... Tim released a book of poems, L.A. Baby!, and launched his latest stand-up show Loganberry, which returns for a new tour across the UK from February. He’s a long-time collaborator with former Dish guest Steve Coogan, appearing with Coogan in Saxondale and a number of Alan Partridge projects. Tim loves the pub, loves fish and chips, and believes he has worked out how to get the most out of Dish through his list of likes and dislikes. With a Five Points beer in hand, he is served sticky sausage & apple braise with a mash that, as always, becomes quite the talking point. Waitrose’s wine experts have paired the meal with a Château Maris Organic Les Planels. With poetry, laughter and stories about pub characters and eating in the bath, our first episode of the year is a bumper one to get us all going. And, in case you are wondering, Helena Bonham Carter is up next week for our final episode of Season 8. You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and, new for this season, on Spotify. Wed, 07 Jan 2026 - 147 - Emilia Fox, a butternut and toasted pumpkin seed risotto, and a vodka martini
We finish one year and start the next with an ode to good food. Emilia Fox is an English actress and presenter. She is best known for playing Dr Nikki Alexander in the popular long-running TV series Silent Witness, a role she has been playing since 2004, when Nick was still at university and Angela was on TV with Gordon Ramsay in Hell’s Kitchen. Emilia is with us to chat about the upcoming series of the show (its 29th!!) which lands on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in early 2026. But before that, we have (just enough) time to go through Emilia’s likes and dislikes, which have been made into a novella with a limited print run... of three. Emilia is passionate about seasonal and Italian food, and could eat roast chicken every day, so immediately enters into Angela’s good books. We begin the show by serving a perfectly chilled vodka martini with a twist. This is followed by a butternut & toasted pumpkin seed risotto, paired with a glass of Ricossa Barbera Appassimento Piemonte DOC. There’s no need for rice fear as Angela guides Emilia and Nick through her risotto method and top tips. This is a heart-warming dish, recipe and guest with which to start 2026. We get Emilia’s love of great food, her stories of being a (very sackable) waitress and how she deals with dead bodies on set. Plus, a few thoughts for potential New Year’s resolutions. Bellissimo! Wed, 24 Dec 2025 - 145 - CHRISTMAS SPECIAL: Keira Knightley, fennel & citrus roast turkey, and Champagne
It’s beginning to taste a lot like Christmas. For this year’s festive special, Nick and Angela are joined around the tree by Keira Knightley for a turkey feast and plenty of bubbles. Keira Knightley is an English actress who lives in North London with her two daughters and husband, James Righton. She is known for an array of brilliant roles in films such as Pride & Prejudice, The Imitation Game, Atonement and the TV series Black Doves. And, at this time of year, it would be remiss not to mention her role in the Christmas staple Love Actually, a film she’s watched just once. She joins us following her latest lead role... opposite Joe Wilkinson in the Waitrose Christmas advert. We’ve heard his side of the story, but how does Keira reflect on the day they filmed ‘the big kiss’? Angela delivers dish after dish in this episode, with a fennel & citrus roast turkey as the table’s centrepiece. It’s served with her own (and famous) turkey gravy, roast potatoes with rosemary salt, stir fried sprouts with chestnuts and pancetta and a roast parsnip & grape salad with hazelnuts, chicory and parmesan dressing, which might just steal the show. Glasses are filled with No.1 Brut Special Reserve Vintage Champagne on arrival and the meal is paired by the Waitrose wine experts with a glass of De Loach OFS California Chardonnay. Enjoy! And let us know if you try and recreate any of the dishes at home. Merry Christmas and happy holidays from Nick, Angela and all the Dish team! Wed, 17 Dec 2025 - 144 - Jordan Stephens, saffron & cardamom chicken with cranberry salsa, and a vouvray
Croissants as a starter? No issue whatsoever. Jordan Stephens is a musician, actor, presenter, podcaster and writer, who arrives at Dish off the back of an incredible year, full of achievements and firsts. He chats to Angela and Nick about the paperback release of his thought-provoking memoir, Avoidance, Drugs, Heartbreak and Dogs, a personal story of self-acceptance. Alongside events and talks to promote the book, Jordan has had a busy 12 months, making his theatre debut in Entertaining Mr Sloane, joining the hit podcast Miss Me? as its new host and presenting his first documentary for Channel 4. He also returned to where it all started with Rizzle Kicks, who released their first album in 12 years alongside a UK tour and a performance at Glastonbury. Angela serves up a warming dish of saffron & cardamom chicken with cranberry salsa, paired with a glass of Domaine Du Vieux Vauvert Vouvray. That’s preceded by a cup of Earl Grey tea and a croissant, which immediately showcases Jordan’s passion for food and ranking systems. Jordan’s girlfriend is friend-of-the-show Jade Thirlwall, so we get an even deeper understanding of her love of roasts and their plans for Christmas. We also hear how food brought Jordan one-step closer to his dream of making music, and there’s a return to our discussion on pet names. Please let us know if your dog is called Susan. Wed, 10 Dec 2025 - 143 - Joe Marler, jalapeño honey pulled pork with lime slaw, and a viognier
A true VI-Hundy P joins us around our own round table. Joe Marler is a former rugby union player, podcast presenter, TV personality and Traitors expert in big dog theory. He joins Nick and Angela around the Dish table to talk about his new podcast, Joe Marler Will See You Now, where he puts guests to the test using his unique people-reading skills. Recorded only hours before the finale of the Traitors, we have a brilliant time with Joe in our Christmas studio. Only snag being that he isn’t a big fan of Christmas... but can he be convinced by Nick’s infectious love for all occasions? Joe’s love of food is unwavering, with a passion for bold flavours, low-and-slow dishes... and chocolate. He is also a big fan of a Dark ‘N Stormy cocktail, and that’s how we kick things off. Angela answers his low-and-slow call by serving jalapeño honey pulled pork with lime slaw, with Waitrose wine experts picking a glass of Laurent Miquel Nocturnes Viognier IGP Pays d'Oc to pair alongside it. We discuss Joe’s cooking skills, and how his fondness for cake got him into trouble as a sous chef. We find out how wanting to act led him to a career in rugby, and learn that if you want to keep Joe on your good side... don’t serve him cockles. In the opening of the episode, Nick and Angela try out a glass of mulled rosé and explore Angela’s new, very tasty, biscuit range. Our first episode back around the Christmas tree. Millie Bobby Brown is a British actor known for her role in the Netflix series Stranger Things. As the show begins its final season, we are joined by the star, who first appeared as her character Eleven back in 2016. The show is a certified cultural phenomenon, streamed by millions and making Millie a household name across the world. She currently lives on a farm in Georgia with her husband Jake Bongiovi (son of Jon Bon Jovi) and their many, many animals. We’ve never had a guest want to sit so quickly at the Dish table. Millie is a huge fan of the show, reflected in her carefully considered and curated list of likes. Angela is drawn to serving penne alla vodka, a dish which ties in with Millie’s first date with Jake, all preceded by a Shirley Temple and a bowl of raw carrots. The pasta is paired with a glass of Castello Colle Massari Montecucco Rosso Riserva, made from Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. We chat through a number of divisive food topics with Millie, including olives, quinoa, birthday cake and food photography, alongside reliving her incredible first dance at her wedding. Wed, 26 Nov 2025 - 141 - Bob Mortimer, pork pie, kedgeree and an IPA
Bob Mortimer is an English comedian, TV presenter, fisherman, author, podcaster, pork pie detective and 100% certified national treasure. He’s with us to chat about his new book, The Long Shoe, his third work of fiction following the successes of The Hotel Avocado and The Satsuma Complex. Bob has sold over 2 million books (and counting), crowning another significant chapter in his legendary career. Bob first appeared on our screens in the early 90s in Vic Reeves’ Big Night Out. His working relationship with Vic has continued for decades and the pair are regarded among the funniest acts in British comedy. Bob is also known for his part in another double act, with Paul Whitehouse in Gone Fishing, a programme which documents their time together on the shores of rivers, streams, seas and lakes as part of Bob’s recovery from open heart surgery. Upon entering the Dish kitchen, Bob quickly spots the pork pie starter and crisp bowl, which is followed by Angela fulfilling his nostalgic request and serving kedgeree-style monkfish rice alongside a fresh and cold IPA. Waitrose’s wine experts pair this meal with a glass of Paul Mas Réserve Languedoc Blanc. From stories about accidental house fires to avoiding dinner parties and the perfect pasta name for a cat, we learn an incredible amount in Bob’s company. We also find time to put his love of eggs to the test in an action packed end of show finale. And remember: eat pie as often as you can! Wed, 19 Nov 2025 - 140 - Jack Whitehall (LIVE from The Royal Opera House), an aubergine parmigiana and an old fashioned
Highlights from our biggest live show yet! We’re thrilled to share our first ever live episode, recorded in September 2025 at The Royal Opera House in front of 2200 Dish fans. Our guest, Jack Whitehall, is an English comedian, presenter, actor and writer - and no stranger to stages of such grandeur. Jack joined us to help settle Nick and Angela’s nerves and provide just a little bit of chaos in our on-stage kitchen. The night is one huge celebration of Dish, complete with special guests, a house band (thank you Sous Chefs), a trap door and more dry ice than we ever thought possible. The show starts with a glass of Veuve Clicquot to celebrate a landmark moment before Nick mixes up an old fashioned for Jack. Angela serves an aubergine parmigiana, a Dish classic that proved a big hit for Shania Twain last year, alongside a glass of Prunotto Barolo, paired by the Waitrose wine experts. Jack can be seen in the new Prime Video show Malice, where he plays a manipulative male nanny alongside David Duchovny and Carice van Houten. The role involved some cheffing skills, which come much more naturally to Jack than his father Michael, who is in the crowd for this show. From food likes and dislikes to the Fast Food Quiz under a spotlight, and a goody bag reveal that comes out of nowhere, this is Dish - but not like you’ve seen it before. The show took place on the same night as the launch party of Angela’s new restaurant, Cicoria, situated on the top floor of the Opera House. Sun, 16 Nov 2025 - 139 - Joe Wilkinson, bolognese and a Villa Antinori
Has Angela met her match in the ultimate bolognese battle? Joe Wilkinson is an English comedian, actor, podcaster, screenwriter and star of the new Waitrose Christmas advert. Joe first came to prominence in the BBC Three show Him & Her before further acting roles in Derek, Miranda and After Life. He has also brought his impeccable comedy timing to shows including Russell Howard’s Good News, 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Last One Laughing and Taskmaster as well as proving ever-faithful on this year’s Celebrity Traitors. He also hosts an almost-daily podcast called Chatabix with his long-term writing partner, David Earl. Joe’s favourite food is his own bolognese, which leads to a forensic breakdown of his process and the chance for Angela to impress with the best bolognese. Does it cut it with Joe? What about Marmite? How liberal should you be with the Italian mixed herbs? All these questions are answered alongside a glass of Zeno Alcohol-Liberated Red for Joe and a wine pairing of Villa Antinori for Nick and Angela. We start the show with a Fever-Tree Non-Alcoholic Italian Spritz. We loved Joe’s list of food likes and dislikes, and need to thank his wife Petra for supplying all the extra details, including his fondness for slow-roasted meat and dedication to planning the perfect takeaway. We also get to hear all about his turn as a leading man in the Waitrose Christmas ad opposite Keira Knightley, including how he diffused any tension on the day of their kiss… You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and, new for this season, on Spotify. Wed, 12 Nov 2025 - 138 - Professor Brian Cox, cider-steamed Dover sole & clams and a Saint-Aubin Premier Cru
Our first Professor, our first Dover sole... and our second Brian Cox. Professor Brian Cox is a British physicist, broadcaster, writer and professor of particle physics. You will know Brian from his TV work on shows including Horizon, The Planets and Solar System alongside his BBC Radio 4 programme, The Infinite Monkey Cage. Brian, who was born in Oldham, joins us to blow Nick and Angela’s minds and chat about his new stage show, Emergence. Emergence, which explores the universe and cosmic evolution, is a HUGE production involving a giant display screen able to bring out-of-this-world shots to life. Tickets are available now for the world tour. This episode is powered by curiosity, including Brian’s own desire to learn how to cook Dover sole. Step forward Angela Hartnett who takes Brian under her wing at the counter to help create our dish of cider-steamed Dover sole & clams. This is paired with a glass of Saint-Aubin Premier Cru, Domaine Gérard Thomas, celebrating Brian’s love of wine and, in particular, a white Burgundy. Our biggest questions get answered across this chat. From figuring out how taste works to the challenges of life on Mars... and what is it about porridge that Brian Cox just can’t get on board with. Wed, 05 Nov 2025 - 137 - Jamali Maddix, spiced whole chicken with herby rice, ice cream and a Grüner Veltliner
An episode packed with strong food opinions and another one-pot-wonder chicken dish. Jamali Maddix is a British comedian, writer and presenter known for his honest and intelligent humour. Alongside regular appearances on shows including Never Mind the Buzzcocks, QI and 8 Out of 10 Cats, he’s also fronted a number of documentaries, including last year’s Follow The Leader for U&Dave. He’s with us to talk about the new Comedy Central show, Jimmy Carr’s Am I The A**hole, where Jamali, Jimmy and GK Barry are in charge of serving judgements on the divisive behaviour of members of the public. Angela serves spiced whole chicken with herby rice, which is an instant hit with Jamali, tasting so good that it proves a distraction from Nick’s questions. The drinks pairing of Felsner Moosburgerin Grüner Veltliner 2024 Kremstal is a test for Jamali’s palate, but he gives it a go, despite not being a huge wine lover. Room is made for dessert, with a selection of Ottolenghi’s new ice creams, including, Madagascan Vanilla & Miso Caramel. Food chat at Dish has never been so passionate, with nothing safe from Jamali’s razor sharp takes. Air fryers, wine and the concept of sharing desserts are among the victims in this week’s episode. We also get to learn all about alligator cheesecake and finally find out the true value of the Dish table. Any takers? Wed, 29 Oct 2025 - 136 - Vicky McClure, roast topside of beef with peppercorn gravy & aligot, and a bloody Mary
Angela’s first serving of aligot goes down very well with Nick and our brilliant guest. Vicky McClure is a BAFTA-winning actor known for her incredible roles in Line of Duty as Kate Fleming and This is England as Lol Jenkins. She joins Nick and Ange to talk about the third series of Trigger Point, the thriller in which Vicky plays Lana, a bomb disposal expert (known as an expo), struggling with trauma and PTSD. You can watch the show from 26 October on ITV and ITVX. Vicky was born in Nottingham and lives there today with her husband Jonny, who is also an actor and filmmaker. The couple first met over a sausage cob, and it’s one of many areas of food and drink that Vicky feels strongly about, including tea and how to act with it correctly. We begin the episode with Nick mixing up the first ever bloody Mary on the show ahead of a main course of roast topside of beef with peppercorn gravy & aligot. Aligot, a recipe made of potato and cheese, also makes its Dish debut... but definitely not its last, based on this reaction. It’s paired with a glass of Catena Malbec. Vicky brings pure joy to our table as well as her passion for her hometown and nighttime. We hear about working with Madonna and how she prepares for her demanding roles. And her second career path plan? Well, it’s right up our street. You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and, new for this season, on Spotify. Wed, 22 Oct 2025 - 135 - Mark Ronson, roast chicken with fennel, shallot & white bean stew and a dirty vodka martini
Our award winning duo meet a DJ and producer who knows a thing or two about acceptance speeches. Mark Ronson is a BRIT, Golden Globe, Grammy and Oscar-winning British-American DJ, record producer, musician and songwriter. He has added ‘author’ to that list, too, with the release of his memoir, Night People, an account of becoming a DJ in ‘90s New York. The book is full of incredible stories and entertaining celebrity encounters, and you get a tasty sampler of them in our chat over roast chicken. We start the episode with a dirty vodka martini and a side of Monster Munch before a hearty roast chicken with fennel, shallot & white bean stew, appealing to Mark’s love of Sunday roasts. This is paired with a glass of Vignerons Ardechois Viognier and served alongside tales of working with Paul McCartney and Lady Gaga and the joy Mark gets from being a dad. Mark and Nick’s own friendship stretches back to the noughties, and nights out together with the likes of Adele and Amy Winehouse. Nostalgic memories are sparked across the table, including one involving a hungover Nick in New York and a party hosted by Leonardo DiCaprio. There’s also time to celebrate Nick and Angela’s gong for Best Hosts at this year’s British Podcast Awards. We couldn’t be prouder of them. Cheers! Wed, 15 Oct 2025 - 134 - Suranne Jones, seared tuna with braised tomatoes & chickpeas and a crumble
We’re joined by a BAFTA winner for an easy-to-make, extra tasty dinner and a spoonful of dessert. Suranne Jones’ acting credits are a must-watch list of shows including Doctor Foster, Vigil, Gentleman Jack and Coronation Street. Add to that list her new show, Frauds, a heist-driven thriller in which she stars alongside Jodie Whittaker. On the menu for this episode is seared tuna with braised tomatoes & chickpeas, paired on this occasion with a Telmont Champagne Reserve Brut NV - a special accompaniment and a favourite of Suranne’s when she is drinking. This is followed by a perfectly seasonal autumn apple & blackberry crumble. Suranne’s a bad influence in Frauds, but pure joy and excellent vibes around the Dish table, bringing a list of food likes and dislikes that matches, and maybe surpasses, the one brought by Benedict Cumberbatch. We get into the magic of Oldham, the power of Corrie and the appeal of Doctor Foster... and Suranne quickly comes clean that she’s a Dish superfan having listened to ALL episodes while on set for her new show. Wed, 08 Oct 2025 - 133 - Mawaan Rizwan, pork & mushroom tantanmen and a vermouth cocktail
Nick and Angela welcome a performer whose surreal comedy has made him one of Britain’s most distinctive voices. Mawaan Rizwan’s career has been anything but ordinary, taking him from clown school to the Edinburgh Fringe. He created and stars in the surreal BBC comedy Juice, which earned him a BAFTA, and now he joins Nick and Angela to talk about the show’s new series. Mawaan likes a vermouth cocktail (when he’s feeling fancy), so Nick pours a Sharp Dresser to start. Mawaan is also a big fan of ramen, so Angela serves a pork and mushroom tantanmen, topped with jammy eggs and spring onions. The dish is paired with a glass of The Dry Dam Riesling, whose acidity and creamy notes balance the richness of the broth. The conversation reflects Mawaan’s playful spirit, touching on his passion for Beef Wellington, the time he sculpted Paul Hollywood’s cheekbones in brandy snap, and even the unlikely showbiz “beef” he’s nursing with Ellie Goulding. He also lets Angela in on his burrata hack for levelling up instant noodles. You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and, new for this season, on Spotify. Wed, 01 Oct 2025 - 132 - Sir Grayson Perry, smashed cucumber and steak noodle salad and a beer
Nick and Angela welcome a new member to the ‘I Cycled to Dish’ club, as Sir Grayson Perry pedals his way to the Dish table. Grayson is one of Britain’s most celebrated contemporary artists. A potter, writer, broadcaster and social commentator, he rose to fame in 2003 when he won the Turner Prize, becoming the first ceramicist to receive the honour. He joins Nick and Angela to talk about his new tour, Are You Good?, which asks whether any of us are truly behaving ourselves. We keep it simple at the start, with an ice-cold Daura Damm gluten-free beer. Grayson loves fresh, crunchy salads, and Angela obliges by serving a smashed cucumber and steak noodle salad. The umami flavours are complemented with a glass of Albert Road Pinot Noir. Between bites, the chat covers Marmite confessions, banana rituals, nostalgia for greasy spoons and Nick’s delight at discovering someone who likes a pickled onion as much as he does. We even get to hear about the joys of overtaking men in Lycra while wearing a frock. You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and, new for this season, on Spotify. Wed, 24 Sep 2025 - 131 - Graham Norton, lemon butter trout and a dirty vodka martini
Nick and Angela welcome the legendary chat show host who has been on the Dish dream guest list since the very beginning. It only took eight seasons but we finally have Graham Norton at the Dish Table. The Irish comedian, broadcaster, writer and king of Friday night TV stops by to chat about his new podcast, Wanging On, which he co-hosts with Maria McErlane. The perfectly titled show sees Graham and Maria offer advice to help tackle a wide range of problems; from neighbourly disputes to unruly pets. Although Graham lives in a vegan household, he is rather partial to a scotch egg which Angela serves as the episode’s starter alongside a dirty vodka martini made wet at Graham’s request. For the main course, Angela delivers lemon butter trout with roast potatoes & fennel. The trout is paired with a glass of Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc. Great food is matched by great chat, with Graham telling us about his full throttle food awakening on a French exchange trip and sharing his expert advice on a couple of Dish dilemmas from our audience. We get to learn about the magic of The Graham Norton Show sofa and why Brad Pitt is yet to take a seat on it. An episode we didn’t want to end featuring a guest we can’t wait to have back. Wed, 17 Sep 2025 - 130 - Olivia Colman, Benedict Cumberbatch, a roast spatchcock chicken and a Zibibbo Sicilia
We’re back for a new season and are celebrating with two huge stars, who take our Fast Food Quiz VERY seriously. The long wait is over. Dish returns for Season 8 and Nick and Angela welcome two British actors who have conquered Hollywood. Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman join us to chat about their new film, The Roses (a reimagination of 1989’s War of The Roses) where they play a deeply dysfunctional married couple. We start with gin and tonics and a modified Hugo Spritz for Olivia, before serving a glass of Terre di Vita Organic Zibibbo Sicilia, paired with our main course of roast spatchcock chicken with coriander, red chilli and charred limes. Angela serves the main with french fries and a side of sprouting broccoli, which she sautéed with soy sauce, sesame oil and salt. Olivia and Benedict take their seats for a welcome meal along with a drink... or three. We loved spending time in their company, hearing about how they raise each other’s acting game and Olivia’s on-set superpower! We also get THE most comprehensive list of likes and dislikes from Benedict and find out about his unlikely stint as a sous chef. It’s good to be back. Wed, 10 Sep 2025 - 129 - Sophie Turner, cheesy lemon spaghetti and a Pouilly-Vinzelles
Season 7 comes to a close with more sausage chat than we possibly expected. Nick and Angela are joined by British actress Sophie Turner for our final episode of the season. Sophie's career began on the cult fantasy show Game of Thrones where she played the steely Sansa Stark. Sophie, who was cast in the show at the age of 13, played the character throughout its eight seasons and has credited the production for her early career development. More recently, Sophie has starred as jewel thief Joan Hannington in Joan, her first lead acting role, and is due to star in Steal, a heist thriller and the horror film, Trust. The show begins with a Hugo Spritz (made by Sophie) and is quickly followed by a starter snack that makes its first, and probably only, appearance on Dish. For the main course, Angela delivers Sophie’s dream dishes in the form of cheesy lemon spaghetti and tomato salad with burrata and basil oil, accompanied by a glass of Pouilly-Vinzelles Joseph Drouhin. This episode is a fitting finale with a guest who loved every second in the studio. What Sophie lacks in cooking skills she makes up for in her passion for good food including sausages, chocolate, pasta, obscure salads from New York and the mighty jacket potato. Just don’t ask her to explain the Game of Thrones plot... Wed, 09 Jul 2025 - 128 - Lou Sanders, creamy mushroom & pistachio tagliatelle and a Brunello
Nick and Ange are joined by a Last One Laughing star - and the Dish table sees its first proposal. Lou Sanders is a comedian, writer and podcaster who has appeared on TV shows including QI, Dancing on Ice, Would I Lie to You, Live at the Apollo and Taskmaster, which she won in 2019. She joins us at the tail end of her latest stand-up tour, No Kissing in the Bingo Hall, and following her iconic appearance in Last One Laughing. Earlier this year Lou launched a brand new podcast, A Psychic Told Us To Do It, with her best friend Georgie Bayford. The show puts Lou’s passion for the spiritual front and centre, featuring chats about pet psychics, witchcraft, holistic foot therapy and manifesting. You can also read all about Lou’s life and career in her 2023 book, What’s That Lady Doing?. Angela serves a delicious creamy mushroom & pistachio tagliatelle, with a side of sauteed garlic and spinach. Our Waitrose wine experts suggest pairing this with a glass of Val di Suga Brunello di Montalcino but, for Lou, it’s served with a glass of Thomson & Scott Noughty Rouge Dealcoholized Wine. As you would expect, conversations in this episode roam freely, contemplating all the big questions: Is Lou in her gardening era?; Is her cat Bobert her husband from a past life?; And what is the deal with raw onion? Our tagliatelle dish is a vegan hit, earning Lou’s seal of approval right from the first sniff, and the Fast Food Quiz finally meets its match. Wed, 02 Jul 2025 - 127 - Ewan McGregor, Charley Boorman, tomahawk steak and a Cabernet Sauvignon
Nick and Angela greet good friends who love to travel on two wheels. Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman bring their passion for adventure to Dish following the release of their latest TV show, Long Way Home. Their fourth motorcycle trip together sees them plot a path through 17 European countries on two vintage bikes. The Long Way series began in 2004 when the pair embarked on an epic route from London to New York, via Asia, in Long Way Round. Each trip they take is characterised by beautiful landscapes, chance encounters, good (and not so good) food and Charley and Ewan’s close friendship. Ewan McGregor has been on our screens since his acting debut in 1993. His hugely successful career includes unforgettable roles in Trainspotting, Shallow Grave, Star Wars, Salmon FIshing in the Yemen and Moulin Rouge!. Charley, who met Ewan on a film set in 1997, is well known for his TV adventures, including By Any Means, which saw him travel from Ireland to Australia using any modes of transport he could find. He has also participated in the Dakar Rally, known to be one of the world’s toughest and most dangerous motorsport competitions. There’s not a lot of room to spare on this week’s table, with a feast of food and drink to tempt our guests. At Ewan’s request, Angela serves a slice of nostalgia in the form of Melba toast with chicken liver pâté, smoked mackerel pâté and pâté de campagne, before bringing out the haggis bon-bons. Drinks are negronis, tweaked by Charley, who suggests switching the gin for tequila, and a Pentire coastal spritz for Ewan. This is followed by an epic tomahawk steak with spicy dipping sauce and fries, paired with a glass of Journey's End Sir Lowry Cabernet Sauvignon. After arriving on motorbikes (a Dish first), Charley and Ewan quickly settle at the Dish table, where chat moves from boiled egg banter to bagpipes and classic Mongolian hospitality. Charley shares one of his favourite recipes and Ewan reminisces on an unforgettable meeting with Delia Smith. The episode finishes with Nick and Angela checking out the bikes, a moment you can watch on our YouTube channel as part of the full episode. You can watch Long Way Home on Apple TV+ now. Wed, 25 Jun 2025 - 126 - Fearne Cotton, roast cauliflower with chicory salad and a fiery lime margarita
Nick and Angela welcome a brilliant broadcaster to our very own happy place. Fearne Cotton is a TV and radio broadcaster and founder of the hugely successful Happy Place universe. Fearne, who grew up in Hillingdon, West London began her career at the age of 15 presenting kids TV show, The Disney Club. She went on to present shows including Diggit, The Saturday Show and The Xtra Factor, and cohosted Top of the Pops with Reggie Yates from 2004. Fearne is a great friend of Nick’s and worked alongside him at BBC Radio 1, where she hosted Live Lounge in the mid-morning slot. Fearne currently presents Sounds of the 90s on BBC Radio 2, but is arguably best known for her Happy Place podcast, which has just celebrated its seventh birthday. She joins us to chat about the Happy Place Festival, which takes place in London’s Gunnersbury Park on 12 and 13 July, and in Cheshire’s Tatton Park on 30 and 31 August. The festival is full of inspiring guest talks, podcast recordings, yoga and workshops. Angela provides plenty of happy plates in this episode, serving Fearne roast cauliflower with dates, spiced chickpeas, preserved lemons & green tahini with chicory salad, which is paired with a glass of No.1 Beaujolais Villages. Before the arrival of the main course, Fearne is handed a fiery lime margarita, which goes down a treat. It’s no surprise that this week feels like good mates catching up as Fearne and Nick share some of their more random tales of pop star interviews. Fearne talks about her approach to veganism (or ‘veganity’), including the time she broke all her own rules for an interview with Ludovico Einaudi. And is this our most considered Fast Food Quiz yet? Wed, 18 Jun 2025 - 125 - Nick Frost, spicy barbecued lamb and a Shiraz
Angela and Nick welcome an actor who definitely knows his way around a kitchen. Nick Frost is an actor, comedian and screenwriter and the first (and possibly only) participant in a Dish chop-off! Frost joins us after the release of his new film, How To Train Your Dragon, a live action remake of the hugely popular animated film series, based on Cressida Cowell’s books. The movie sees him star as the popular blacksmith Gobber alongside Gerard Butler, Mason Thames and Nico Parker. You will know Nick Frost from a range of TV and film roles, including the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End) alongside his good pal and long-time collaborator Simon Pegg. Frost also appeared with Pegg in the cult TV comedy Spaced. Other TV and film credits include Attack the Block, Paul, Truth Seekers, Green Wing, The Adventures of Tintin and Fighting With My Family, alongside costar Florence Pugh. Nick loves life in a kitchen, having worked as a chef before getting into acting. His passion for food is beautifully detailed in his memoir/recipe book, A Slice Of Fried Gold, which is now available in paperback. Having met Angela once before, Frost finally gets to have a full conversation with her (and Nick) over a delicious meal of spicy barbecued lamb with minty tomato & watermelon relish, with Angela marinating the meat overnight for extra flavour. Nick opts for a Fanta, but for wine-lovers our Waitrose experts recommend a glass of PepperBox Shiraz. At our request, Nick brought his favourite kitchen knife to the record for a demonstration of his chopping skills alongside Angela. Our hosts dig into Nick’s passion for great tasting food (and clean surfaces), and get the lowdown on the world’s best pizza, discovered by Nick in Belfast. Wed, 11 Jun 2025 - 124 - Cynthia Erivo, roasted red pepper, aubergine, freekeh salad, and a Provence rosé
It’s all singing, dancing, chatting and eating at Dish this week. Cynthia Erivo is a British actor, singer and songwriter, well known for her phenomenal vocals and performances on stage and screen. She comes to the Dish table to talk about her new album, I Forgive You; a 20-track record which tells her life story in four distinct parts and showcases the full range of her incredible voice. It’s released on 6 June, UK. Erivo, who was born in Stockwell, London but now lives in Los Angeles, made her Broadway debut as Celie in The Color Purple alongside Jennifer Hudson, a role for which she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical and Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. She has also received two Best Actress Oscar nominations for her roles in Harriet (2019) and most recently Wicked! (2024) where she played Elphaba opposite Ariana Grande. Other notable projects include heist thriller Widows the Netflix crime thriller Luther: The Fallen Sun, and the drama Drift. To mark the start of June, Angela served the table a vegan roasted red pepper, aubergine & freekeh salad with additional courgettes (Angela’s favourite). As Cynthia doesn't drink, the trio enjoyed a glass of Real Peony Blush Non Alcoholic Sparkling Tea alongside it. For those that do want to match their salad with a glass of wine, the Waitrose experts suggest a glass of Eminence de Bijou. We begin the episode by getting to know Cynthia’s love of vegan food, understanding her garlic allergy and dislike of the onion family (sorry, onion family). Over the salad, we learn more about her new record, including how Ariana Grande helped to make it happen and get a first-class demonstration of just how powerful her voice is. Plus, we finally found a good writer for the End of Show Question! Wed, 04 Jun 2025 - 123 - CMAT, Pescado a la Veracruzana and a Provence Rosé
Dish welcomes an Irish singer-songwriter and champion of butter! Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, known professionally as CMAT, is a highly engaging and thought provoking musician enjoying a career that goes from strength to strength. She released her debut album, If My Wife New I’d Be Dead, in 2022 with its follow-up, Crazymad, for Me, arriving a year later and receiving a number of accolades, including a place on the Mercury Prize Shortlist. She arrives at the Dish table ahead of the launch of her new record, Euro-Country, which includes the single Running/Planning out on August 29. It’s a busy summer for CMAT too, as she heads out on tour supporting Sam Fender across a run of dates before festival season, which includes a stop at Glastonbury with our Nick and Angela in the front row. The year then finishes with her album tour starting in October, including her biggest solo shows ever in Brixton and Dublin. Her energetic, fun live performances, with The Very Sexy CMAT Band, are not to be missed! Angela delivers a Mexican-themed meal starting with guacamole, salsa and corn chips before a serving of Pescado a la Veracruzana – a one-pot wonder of a dish. It’s served alongside a Château de Berne Provence Rosé which is one of CMAT’s many food and drink passion points. The trio get along famously, chatting about the brilliance of butter, the similarities between delivering a live music show and service at a restaurant and CMAT’s choice to go to New York to make her third record– all finished off with two excellent lookalike observations. In a highly acclaimed career, she has also starred in Closer, Jackie, Thor, Star Wars (Episodes I, II and III) and the 2010 film Black Swan, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress. Natalie joined us just before a trip back home to Paris and was delighted to be fuelled by an array of vegan plates... and a Paloma cocktail to start. Angela served a vegan version of Waitrose’s broccoli tabbouleh with preserved lemon & zaatar houmous and Lebanese baba ganoush. The wine experts at Waitrose suggest pairing the meal with Kaapzicht Granite Ridge Bush Vine Chenin Blanc. We loved spending time with Natalie and we are sure you will too. She shared her passion for vegan food and told Nick and Angela about life (and food shopping) in Paris. Wed, 14 May 2025 - 120 - Dara Ó Briain, chicken karahi, profiteroles and a primitivo
Angela and Nick pull out all the stops for a quick-witted comedian. Dara Ó Briain is an Irish comedian known for his incredible stand-up shows and TV-presenting prowess, including hosting BBC Two’s panel show Mock the Week, which ran for 17 years. Held in sky-high esteem by the comedy world and its audience, Dara began working in children’s TV in 1994 after studying maths and theoretical physics at university. Through the 2000s, he continued to work in TV before channelling his efforts into stand-up comedy. He joined us at Dish HQ to talk about his new tour Re:Creation which focuses on the search for his biological father. The tour, which runs across the UK and Ireland, follows a sold-out run of his last show at 173 venues in 20 countries. Dara simply loves performing live. Off stage, Dara has a run of brilliant TV credits including presenting Stargazing Live, Robot Wars, Mock the Week and Comedy Central’s reboot of Blockbusters. There were some great food options to choose from Dara’s list of likes, with Angela deciding on chicken karahi, a recipe by Ravneet Gill. This was accompanied by a glass of Paolo Leo Varietali Primitivo Puglia and, of course, we had to satisfy Dara’s sweet tooth with profiteroles adapted from Martha Collison’s recipe for the best éclairs. As expected, Dara was a hugely entertaining guest, lifting the lid on how his stand-up comes together, his time on Mock the Week and the ups and downs of writing with wine. Wed, 07 May 2025 - 119 - Alex Horne, meatballs in tomato sauce and a primitivo
Nick and Angela welcome a master of his craft to Dish. Alex Horne is an English comedian, writer and creator of the award-winning and highly original game show Taskmaster, which he cohosts with Greg Davies. Horne, born in Chichester, began his comedy career as a student doing routines at open mic nights in Cambridge before appearing at his first Edinburgh Fringe in 2000. It was at the Fringe that Taskmaster came to life, before making its debut on our TV screens in 2009 (first on Dave and now on Channel 4). The show, now in its 19th season, has been broadcast in over 120 countries and recently was turned into a live immersive experience in London. Alex, who lives in Chesham with his wife and three sons, is also the lead singer of The Horne Section, a ‘six-headed musical comedy band’, who have extended their UK and Ireland tour across the duration of 2025. They can also be seen on TV in the aptly titled The Horne Section TV Show, which returns for its second series later this year. Nick, Angela and Alex start the episode over a Guinness with a side of Pringles, before enjoying meatballs in tomato sauce, a recipe by the one and only... Angela Hartnett. The perfectly crafted meatballs are served alongside a glass of Primitivo di Manduria Riserva. With so much going on in Alex’s life, this episode covers a lot of funny ground, including the origins of Taskmaster, The Horne Section and Alex’s skills in the kitchen, while Angela learns something new about Pringles… You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube All recipes from this podcast can be found at waitrose.com/dishrecipes A transcript for this episode can be found at waitrose.com/dish We can’t all have a Michelin star chef in the kitchen, but you can ask Angela for help. Wed, 30 Apr 2025 - 118 - Peter Serafinowicz, BLT pasta and a kombucha
This week’s Dish is packed with laughter as Angela and Nick are joined by a man of many talents. Peter Serafinowicz is an actor, director, comedian and screenwriter who came to Dish armed with one of our longest ever list of food likes and dislikes. Serafinowicz, born in Liverpool, has made a big impression on TV viewers this year with his role as property developer Johannes in Amandaland. He’s also the host of the Netflix gameshow Million Dollar Secret, where an undercover millionaire has to hide in plain sight. Peter’s substantial acting and TV credits are equal to his food likes list, with roles on both sides of the Atlantic in Parks and Recreation, The Simpsons, Star Wars, The Tick and, most famously, The Peter Serafinowicz Show, packed full of sketch comedy. He’s an excellent impressionist and is starting to spend more time live on stage, touring the UK in 2024 with his character Brian Butterfield. As ever, Angela hits the mark, serving Peter BLT pasta. The Waitrose wine experts suggest pairing it with Jip Jip Rocks Shiraz, while in this episode, Peter, Nick and Angela enjoy a glass of Equinox Kombucha. The Dish table is all the richer for Peter’s humour, as the trio discuss his desire to be a pasta-shape designer, the fussiness of Come Dine with Me contestants and his love of mashed potato, all topped off with a great impression. Side notes: We are doing a live episode in Sheffield! On Friday 4 July, Dish will be at The Crucible Theatre at Crossed Wires Festival. Nick and Angela will be joined by a special guest for their second ever live show. Tickets are available now at crossedwires.live. Wed, 23 Apr 2025 - 117 - JADE, roast lamb, chargrilled green vegetables and a Rioja
It’s the Dish Easter special and Nick and Angela are joined for dinner by JADE. JADE is a singer/songwriter already making her mark as a solo artist. Born and raised in South Shields, JADE was part of the chart conquering girl group Little Mix, who were formed on The X Factor in 2011. Little Mix went on to release six studio albums and won a BRIT Award for British Group in 2021 before going on hiatus. JADE has since released her debut single Angel of my Dreams, followed up by the single FUFN, the video for which stars our very own Nick Grimshaw. JADE’s had a busy start to 2025 with a massive night at this year’s BRIT Awards, where she landed a huge performance and won her first BRIT as a solo artist. Alongside the release of her debut album, JADE is also due to perform at Glastonbury, with Nick and Angela hoping to be on the front row. She is also a huge fan of roasts. And we mean huge. Which is lucky because Angela has prepared two recipes by Paul Gamble; Roast lamb with boulangère-style vegetables and Chargrilled green vegetables with wild garlic salsa verde. This is accompanied by El Rayo Olarra Rioja Crianza. The conversation begins with a mojito, a cocktail making its Dish debut. This episode is the perfect Easter lunch, with JADE bringing her passion for roasts, gravy and potatoes while looking back at her first steps as a solo artist - including that big night at the BRITs. Side notes; Sadly the pistachio Easter egg mentioned by Nick was so popular it sold out! But we’re confident you will find an equally moreish alternative in store or online. Wed, 19 Jun 2024 - 85 - Shania Twain, aubergine parmigiana and rosé champagne
The Queen of Country Pop has sold over 100 million albums worldwide and won five Grammy awards, but her path to stardom was not easy. Growing up in poverty, Shania’s mother sent her out to sing in bars and clubs at a young age to make ends meet. Fame found her at 30 and, to this day, Shania Twain remains the only female artist to have three consecutive diamond albums in the US. Her record-breaking second album, The Woman in Me, was released in 1995 and became the biggest-selling country album of all time by a female musician. She followed that with Come On Over, released in 1997, which became the biggest selling album of all time by a female solo artist in any genre. Shania Twain plays the Legends slot at this year’s Glastonbury festival. Nick heralds Shania’s arrival with a bottle of Pommery Champagne NV Brut Rosé Royal while Angela prepares two of Shania’s favourite dishes, courgette fritti with truffle and artichoke mayo and a delicious aubergine parmigiana. The experts at Waitrose pair this meal with an Italian red, Araldica Barbera D'Asti Superiore. Shania loves London and tells Nick and Ange she likes to ride horses incognito in Hyde Park. She also loves to cook and asks plenty of questions about her meal; listen out for some excellent tips from Angela. Our trio talk wellies at Glastonbury, the secret to Switzerland’s culinary culture and why Shania simply couldn’t make an album with Prince.
