Kev, James & Drew TV Series Spoiler Review: Half Man the new HBO show on BBC by Richard Gadd of Baby Reindeer. Kev had the joy and privilege of seeing Emilio Santoro perform a few months ago. An impressive live show that goes further than being a tribute artist, he is a true passionate performer with incredible vocals and charisma that got the audience fired up, he also educates along the way and performs set-pieces from Elvis' shows where he showcases his acting talents. He joins us from America today as he is on route once again to New York and Memphis to perform there and at Graceland where he was awarded the Ultimate Tribute Artist Champion by Elvis Presley Enterprises which is the most prestigious achievement. Today we discuss his impressive career and love for the King of Rock & Roll including Baz Luhrmann's new EPiC documentary and the ELVIS movie with Austin Butler. This was a a fun chat which we know you'll enjoy.

Brokeback Cathy returns to the Pod to help us with a spoiler review episode. She is the only one who has seen "Wuthering Heights" so gives us a great insight and sells it to us, we discuss the controversies and all the positives. Our American Correspondent Peter joins us today as he has selected the subject of our Deep Dive episode. John Carpenter has had a huge impact in the film industry especially the horror genre with not only creating the most important and famous slasher horror movie Halloween, but also the creator of the chilling soundtrack. We talk through his personal life, early profession career and a selection of his greatest movies and what he has influenced.

We discuss behind the scenes stories on movie sets and when Kev and Marina briefly worked together on a couple of film projects. Spoken Word Artist Big Scoop (Dujon Thompson) joins us to talk about his experience with his rise in notoriety in the Rap Battle scene and the traction that this has had with his video blow up and go viral with Mike Tyson, The Rock, Usain Bolt reposting his now infamous words. This skill he has developed has also put him in the same room as Daniel Kaluuya, Big Narstie and many others, put him on TV and gained appreciation from all over the world. He has been working alongside Ashley Banjo and the Diversity Team as a narrator and we know he will keep going from strength to strength. Don't miss this impressive episode.

New Orleans Native and cat enthusiast is our special guest from the furthest location to us so far. It's great to hear different voices and perspectives on our show. We talk about New Orleans as Kevs trip visiting (sort of) close by and we give a 'Shout Out' to 'Defend New Orleans'. Kevs cousin Jude is a very talented man. At just 17 he has been acting for over a decade, appearing is short films, main features, music videos and many live productions. Now he has also turned his attention to music, being the frontman of an Indie band from Scotland called The Claes who are making waves in the industry. We talk about his music and songwriting process as well as his inspiration where you can clearly hear that he has a huge desire to be creating and constantly learning and improving. We also discuss his acting career so far, auditioning for Trainspotting 2 and his future goals to follow both passions. Jude is wise beyond his years and has put the work in becoming a cinephile and student of the greatest musicians throughout history. We think he is going to go far and we're excited to watch him on his journey.

Gareth joins us again as he feels our previous quiz attempts have been disastrous. Entertaining but frustrating. Will he do a better job hosting it? He has just come back from Download Festival a couple of days ago and tell us a little about that before we start. The quiz has a few different rounds and themes to keep everyone engaged. Gary Oldman is one of the undisputed greatest living actors of all time. He is well known for being able to embody any role and unique voice that when he fully commits, he disappears into the role where sometimes as the audience you don' t recognise him at all. We talk through his personal life with the struggles he has endured as well as his victories. We take a whistle stop tour of his greatest roles and movies he has been part of; from hidden gems, to huge franchises which makes you realise the quality and body of work he has mastered is beyond exceptional. All this and he is still such a down to earth, funny guy which makes you appreciate his acting even more especially in the 90s when all he did was play 'The Bad Guy'. He is very cool and worthy of great respect in the movie industry.

This is a fun conversation on behind the scenes of the writing and creative process. We discuss working on The Apprentice for the last few years as well as other Reality TV programmes like Geordie Shore. The amount of work and juxtaposition between the creative control of them both. We start on how Jonny and Kev met working on his short film 'Ethel' starring Miriam Margolyes, Professor Green and previous guest Elijah Baker (from Episode 59) and then discuss Jonnys many ideas for new short films and features including the behind the scenes of his pitch to producers. Be Warned: This is a spoiler review. James is excited to talk about 28 Years Later but we try to discuss the first 2 films from 2002 and 2007 to put the new movie into context. This new movie has really divided opinions including the 3 of us. We enjoyed the experience, but question many of the choices on plot and cinematography.

Kirstie runs an Instagram page called 'Kirstie's Weekly Revue' which has insightful and funny reviews of new movies. She with Kev and Rage Whale take part in a friendly online community of movie reviewers who talk and share thoughts in respectful ways. We discuss her thoughts on recent releases of 2025 and then about her job as a Radio DJ for Radio Warrington especially with Eurovision 2025 currently happening. Kirstie is very charismatic and funny leading to some great conversations around Marvel, Trailers, Nostalgia and the emotional and controversial scenes in Disney Cartoons.

Drews friend from their younger years working as an Usher at Theatres in London who went on to work with esteemed Theatre Directors tells us many interesting stories about that world as well as working with a huge number of high calibre actors in the movie industry.

Paul Bullion, star of the final Mission Impossible movie in the franchise joins us again (appeared first Episode 92). Now it has been out in the cinema for a few weeks he is able to talk freely about his role, what happened on set, what he learned and the experience of working with the greatest movie star alive. We enjoy listening to his many stories and also discuss the older films of Tom Cruise and the impact 80s movies still have on us today. We talk through our photoshoot day. The first time we've seen each other in person for many years. Today we discuss the new trailers we have seen recently such as Predator: Badlands, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Weapons, Now You See Me: Now You Don' t and The new A24 movie starring The Rock called The Smashing Machine which looks like his first serious role that could be award worthy. We also discuss movies and series from our childhood we would love to see rebooted with the same cast which brings us to Ryan Cooglers announcement that he is bringing back The X-Files which we are excited about. We end by discussing Sinners, the new movie Ryan Coogler wrote and directed starring Michael B Jordan, Jack O'Conell and Hailee Steinfeld.

Kev and Drew interview Simeon Atkins who is the host of the educational and entertaining podcast 'The Meaning of Men'. The intro explains the thought process about what the podcast is about then we discuss some of the subjects that has come up during his many guest interviews of experts in different fields all relevant to the subject of men. We found this conversation very engaging and we would have loved to talk for much longer so we hope there will be a second part to this conversation and perhaps we have a further guest to mix the opinions and discourse up even more. Simeon has a great outlook on life and his podcast is exploring many interesting avenues and can really open your mind to new thought processes, we very much recommend you take a listen.

Kev & Drew discuss the hot topic this week with the surprising but well deserved success of the new Marvels movie. This is a change in tone for the studio and we feel this has paid off as we can't stop thinking about it. Marvel should be simple and cinematic with lots of CGI, this feels like an indie film with practical effects and dramatic actors with deep character performances that make you care about all the individuals. It is hilarious at times without being silly and emotional through relatable trauma. This is truly a new direction that we hope will continue to grow.

Kev & Drew do an old school Pod episode talking about what they have watched recently and recommendations. We discuss the stunt performers finally being appreciated at the Oscars before talking about classic moves we watched recently, Netflix documentaries that show the dark side of humanity and mention a little about Black Mirror Season 7 without spoilers.

Where do we start, which level, reality or dreams? Kev and Drew try to get to grips with the notoriously confusing movie from the master of time, ambiguity and existentialism. This movie from 2010 was marked as one of the first times that Blockbusters stopped placating its audience as Nolan went for the cerebral approach trusting the audience would engage and enjoy the respect he gave us offering us the ability to debate the plot, themes and of course that frustrating ending. Kate selected the subject of todays Deep Dive, one if the living greats. A prolific and respected man in the movie industry. We try to delve into his personal life with little information before discussing his influences, style and impressive back catalogue. We also discuss his next exciting project.

T2 is back in the cinema which prompts this discussion as it is a classic 90s action movie and the quintessential Schwarzenegger performance. We have all seen it so many times but we were too young to see in the cinema first time round. Kev managed to catch it recently on the big screen which reignites all the 90s childhood memories of watching this when we were too young. We feel this is even better than we remember and not just a standard action movie, it is so much more.

Today's Bonus episode is a Spoiler Special discussing the new Jack Quaid, Amber Midthunder & Ray Nicholson action packed, gory comedy. Kevin invites regular guest Gareth to join to discuss in detail. Welcome to our first 'Deep Dive' episode where we pick an actor, director, genre, year etc to discuss in detail. Today we discuss the charismatic Colin Farrell. It's an interesting chat as he has a varied personal life from charity to rehab and a range of movies where you can see his growth through the years. Even in his early career he worked with high calibre actors and directors and we all agree where his strengths are which we want to see more of. We also let you know about what new movies he has started production on.

Our regular guest turns the tables on us and asks us questions she has devised herself. Kate delves into our early days, how we met, some deep questions and some fun questions. We were not made aware of any questions before hand and I think this yields an honest and interesting response from us all. The nation is talking about this new Netflix series written by Stephen Graham & Jack Thorne. A story of a 13 year old boy being arrested and accused of murdering a girl in his class. This realistic, gritty, intense and powerful story is perfectly acted with believable vulnerability and emotion and the 1 shot per episode really adds to the technicality of the crew and makes the audience live in the moment, experiencing everything in real time. We cover themes of social media, bullying, toxic masculinity, male rage, lack of respect for women and the picking up on the behaviour of male role models because of how impressionable children can be to the wrong influences. Many are dealing this one of the most perfect TV series of all time and we have to agree and its a huge talking point and inspires debates about parenting, family, schools, governments, the legal system, mental health and the hidden world of what children look at on their phones.

Kev & Drew have freshly seen this new Bong Joon Ho Sci-Fi action comedy starring Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette & Mark Ruffalo. We both thoroughly enjoyed it and discussed the deep topics that arise here from Politics, Religion and Race to Animal Cruelty and Ethics. This has an incredible cast with impressive acting from all in this ensemble cast.

Today's guest is a friend of Drews, they go back to 2008 when they met as fellow Ushers at the theatre during the Wicked Musical run in London and talk about how he got his auditions, his agent and the progression of his career. He his it strong early on by being offered the part of Billy Kitchen in the critically acclaimed Peaky Blinders the he acts alongside Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy, what an incredible start., He goes from strength to strength with Dune: Part One, The Witcher, Vikings, The Acolyte and the highly anticipated Mission Impossible 8 The Final Reckoning. We also discuss his passion for being a positive person in the industry by being an ambassador for CALM the charity which is dedicated to helping people who are struggling or in crisis. This movie is a feast for the eyes with the exceptional cinematography, colour pallet, editing style and impressive directing by a Coralie Fargeat, the only female director who is nominated for an Oscar in a category full of men and we all agree deserves to win. The only problem is that horror films don't do well at the Oscars but hopefully things are about to change. This is the rebirth of Demi Moore showing how talented and brave she is with what this role demands, the risk was huge and now it's time for the reward. This isn't a surface level horror, this taps into the real world issues with societal expectations, and how we treat people, especially women who are getting older, but the themes can relate to everyone.

Peter from New Jersey joins us again today to discuss the Oscars nominations. We delve into some detail on the main films up for the awards and who we predict will win compared to who we believe should win. We also discuss the snubs and debate between ourselves on who deserves the recognition. But before that we have some movie news to discus to discuss the new movie Companion which Kev and Peter saw this week. But during the conversation there is one clear winner of the Oscars but will it be as recognised as we think it should be? I think we need to be ready for some disappointment! We'll have to wait till March to find out.

This may be the 30th anniversary but this movie still hits hard and is full of atmosphere, drama, comedy and tense moments. It follows the two detectives try to solve a serial killer who is using the seven deadly sins as his motives. So much to talk about here, we had to stop as we could've gone on for a further hour. We talk about behind the scenes of the filmmaking, subtle clues within the story as well as the dynamics between the actors and the disturbing but genius scenes.

Today's episode marks a full year since we started recording Rage Whale. It's Kevs Birthday and he tells us about his weekend in London, gigs, a massage and predictably the cinema. We discuss the Netflix release of Cocaine Bear which we highly recommend and delve into many different drinking games. We bring up Biopics as Kev had just come back from seeing the brilliant Bob Dylan movie 'A Complete Unknown'. We end with a chat about the sad news of the death of David Lynch, a true master of cinema.

[Some serious subjects discussed] We had a fun conversation and a laugh with the man that is well known for the opposite: Lewis Saunderson the actor famous for his distressing, raw and emotionally captivating performances on social media with approx 2 Million followers on TikTok and with over 255k Instagram followers. Known as the TikTok Crying Guy, he reimagines emotional movie scenes, creates relevant videos to the current culture but always puts 1000% into his performances raising awareness for a variety of subject matters. We discuss how he progressed to this place in life after finding out how our Drew met and worked with Lewis a couple of decades ago whilst creating a short film together. We delve into his inspiration, cancel culture, mental health and emotional movie scenes as well as a recent video he posted which received some negative press. Although we cover serious subjects which could trigger people we also have fun with a Movie quiz and delving into movies in general. We didn't get through all the questions we had for him so here's looking forward to a further episode towards the end of 2025.
