- 663 - New Day Ep 16 - You're A Masterpiece Under Repair
Today’s episode is for anyone who has started introducing themselves by their damage instead of their design.
Why so many of us introduce ourselves by our damage instead of our designWhat “restoration” really means, and the bold assumption built into the wordCarl Rogers’ “curious paradox” about accepting yourself so you can changeWhy “broken” and “ruined” are verdicts, but “covered” and “buried” leave roomThe glow-up culture that profits when you believe something is wrong with youThe difference between a fixer-upper and a masterpiece under repairPractical Activation StepsSpend thirty minutes this week with something you loved before life got heavy.Stop asking “What’s wrong with me?” and start asking “What’s been covering the real me?”Swap “I’m a mess” for “I’m a masterpiece under repair.”Swap “That season ruined me” for “That season covered me, but it didn’t cancel me.”Set a timer for sixty seconds and say out loud everything that’s right with you.Practice introducing yourself by your design, not your damage.Episode Affirmations
Maybe you look at old photos and think, “Who was that woman? She seemed so free.” Maybe you talk about the best version of you in the past tense, like she moved away and stopped returning your calls.
In this episode, I share what an art restorer taught me about the brilliant blue hiding under years of grime, why self-improvement got confused with self-rejection, and how one word can turn a verdict into a possibility. Because you are not broken, friend. You’re buried. And buried things can be uncovered.
In This Episode
I am not damaged goods.
I am a masterpiece under restoration.
What was lost is being returned to me.
My joy, my voice, my peace and my purpose are coming back.
The best of me is not behind me.
Journal Prompt
What has been covering my original design, whose words, which seasons, what habits, and if I were fully restored, what would I do this week that I’m not doing now?
Favorite Quote from this Episode
“You’re not a fixer-upper. You’re a masterpiece under repair.”
This Week’s New Day Challenge
For the next seven days, every time you catch yourself describing your past with words like “broken,” “ruined” or “damaged,” stop and say it again using “covered.” Then ask: “What’s one part of me I’m ready to get back?”

Today’s episode is a wake-up call for anyone who’s been running on autopilot and calling it a life.
Why you can’t build a new life with old wordsThe two-word question that stopped me in my tracks: “Tired of what?”What the word “awakening” really means, and why it was never just about opening your eyesWhy “busy means I’m winning” is one of the most dangerous norms we live byHow checking your phone first thing lets the whole world set your mood before you’ve heard your own thoughtsThree signs you might be living on autopilotWhy a crisis is a terrible alarm clock, and how to choose a gentler oneThe four things you leave behind when you choose to wake upPractical Activation Steps
We’ve all been there. Hitting snooze one more time, answering “How are you?” with “Busy” before the question is even finished, moving so smoothly through our days that nobody would guess we’ve been asleep at the wheel.
In this first episode of The Language of Change, I share the question that woke me up, why “busy” is often the most comfortable place to hide, and why awakening is the word every other change depends on. Because you can be wide awake at two in the afternoon and still be sound asleep in your own life. Today, we wake up on purpose.
In This Episode
Give the first five minutes of every morning to yourself. No phone, no email, no news.Ask yourself each morning: “What do I want to be awake to today?” Write down your answer, even if it’s one word.Catch one autopilot phrase each day and swap it. Instead of “It is what it is,” say “I’m awake to what it could be.”Write “Wake up on purpose” on a sticky note and put it on your phone.Notice how often you say things that aren’t true just because they’re easy.Episode Affirmations
I am awake to my life.
My eyes are open, and I see clearly.
I don’t need a crisis to give me permission to change.
I choose awareness over autopilot.
My new day has begun.
Journal Prompt
Where in my life have I been on autopilot, and if I were fully awake right now, what would I notice first?
Favorite Quote from this Episode “Busy isn’t winning. Awake is winning.”
This Week’s New Day Challenge
For the next seven days, before you pick up your phone, sit with yourself for five minutes and speak this declaration out loud: “I decree and declare that I am awakening. I will no longer sleepwalk through my life or speak words I don’t believe. My eyes are open, my spirit is alert, and I see clearly who I am and what is possible. I will not sleep through my new season. I am awake, and my new day has begun.”

In this episode, I share what I've been learning about surviving long seasons, embracing life's pivots, and why gratitude is one of the most powerful strategies we have for making it through.

Today’s episode is Part Two of our survival mode conversation, and this one is about leaving it.
New Day Ep 5 – Leaving Survival Mode: You Have More Than You Know is your reminder that you are not underqualified… you are under-acknowledged. By you. If last week helped you recognize survival mode, this week we take inventory and build from it. Because surviving taught you more than you’ve given yourself credit for, and it’s time to stop playing small with earned wisdom. You don’t need more time. You need to trust what you already carry. This episode is your evidence.
In This Episode
• Why high-capacity women chronically underestimate themselves
• How survival mode makes resilience feel “normal” instead of exceptional
• The difference between humility and self-minimizing
• Why confidence isn’t knowing, it’s deciding you’ll figure it out
• How to shift from waiting to moving

Today’s episode is a conversation with award-winning author and cultural trailblazer Amy DuBois Barnett about her debut novel, If I Ruled the World, and what it means for women to stop following other people’s playbooks and write their own rules instead. We dive into story, strategy, and real-life wisdom for women who aren’t waiting for permission; they’re creating the path.

• What inspired Amy to turn a powerful idea into this story
• How If I Ruled the World reflects women creating new systems instead of fixing old ones

Practical Activation Steps- Write your rule list: What “shoulds” are you retiring?Identify one area where you’ve followed someone else’s rule and replace it with yoursShare your rule with a friend or write it publicly (because owning it increases impact)Choose one action this week that aligns with your new rule
I am authorized to shape my life

Join The Great Girlfriends Facebook Community here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheGreatGirlfriendsTue, 17 Feb 2026 - 649 - New Day Ep 2 - The Reason Why Momentum May Be Hard For YouIn this episode, I’m breaking down overthinking and why it quietly kills momentum.
If you’ve been stuck in analysis, waiting for clarity, or afraid to choose wrong, this conversation explains what’s happening and how to get moving again. Overthinking feels responsible, but it’s often fear disguised as preparation. And the longer you stay in your head, the harder it becomes to trust your next step. This episode is about interrupting that loop and rebuilding momentum in real-time.
In This Episode
• Why overthinking is a fear response, not a strategy
• How perfectionism delays progress
• The real cost of waiting to feel ready
• Why momentum creates clarity, not the other way around
Practical Activation Steps1. Put a deadline on one decision you’ve been avoiding
2. Ask for the next step, not the final outcome
3. Use movement to reset your nervous system (walk, stretch, clean)
4. Make one imperfect decision on purpose this week
Affirmations
I trust myself to decide and adjust
Motion brings clarity
I do not need certainty to begin
Journal Prompt
What decision have I delayed because I’m afraid to be wrong, and what changes if I choose anyway?

In this premiere episode, I’m talking about what happens when we trade alignment for comfort and slowly disconnect from our own power. This conversation is about recognizing where you’ve been shrinking, over-accommodating, or choosing approval over truth and how to start reversing that pattern in real life, not just in theory. If you’ve felt stuck, drained, or unsure of yourself lately, this episode explains why and gives you practical steps to reconnect with your voice and your decisions.
In This Episode
• How “keeping the peace” can weaken self-trust
• The signs you’re playing small without realizing it
• Why power is built on self-trust, not confidence
• What changes when you choose alignment over approval
Practical Activation Steps1. Do a power audit: Identify one area where you’re avoiding honesty to stay comfortable
2. Practice one direct statement this week without over-explaining
3. Make one daily decision based on alignment, not approval
Episode Affirmations
I am safe to take up space
I trust my decisions
I choose alignment over approval
Journal Prompt
Where am I staying comfortable instead of being honest, and what would change if I stopped?
