Mon, 19 Jun 2023 - 49min - 78 - E77: How to be more efficient in your business: Amy Smith, Vamos Admin
Amy Smith is a virtual assistant and is usually called upon when a Small Business realises they aren’t quite so small anymore! And the realisation has hit them that their time could be better spent elsewhere, there must be a better way, right?!
In the Digg Podcast Amy gives five ways to help become more efficient in business.
1.Map out Processes
Can anything be removed or combined?
Can anything be automated? - easiest places to automate are CONTRACTS, INVOICES, BOOKINGS, PROJECT/TASK MANAGEMENT
Can anything be delegated? Task aligns with another team member's skillset etc. Weigh up a system cost with your hourly rate and decide whether it’s cheaper to spend the money or spend the time.
Use programs like Hello Sign, Docu Sign and Ever Sign to make your contracts easier for clients to sign and get back to you in a timely fashion.
2. Diary Management
Diary is there to be managed not filled. White space is not evil. Flexibility is key. Batch where possible, are you multitasking or just jumping from one task to another and thinking it’s productive.
Colour code - look ahead and see how your week/month is shaping up.
3. Inbox Management
Your inbox should work for you, not cause you work.
Archive older than 12 months - tip search unsubscribe to bring up newsletters Create subfolders. Not too many!
Follow the 4D rule - DO, DEFER, DELEGATE, DELETE.
Reduce your check-ins
Use your email providers features, for Gmail for example use Templates for emails you send on repeat or Rules to send certain emails into designated folders.
4. To-Do Lists
Out of your head and onto paper/digital.
Prioritise - colour code. Bad day? Look and see what has to be done and ditch the rest.
Give timings. Be realistic!
5. Outsource
Take away and trim back, get as much out of what you have as possible before adding anyone in. Few mins here and there might be the difference between having the budget to hire/contract someone or not.
Outsource before you need it. Easier to get organised whilst it’s not crazy busy and they’re dropped in at the deep end.
Get recommendations from others in your line of work, check the Society of Virtual Assistants for ‘Approved’ UK VAs.
Communicate honestly, set boundaries around response times, methods of updating etc.
Review how things are going!

Mon, 07 Nov 2022 - 1h 02min - 61 - E60: Tapping into Success : Shauna Corr
Shauna Corr is the founder of Tapping into Success. Shauna is a wife and a mother. She has 20+ years in the corporate world, leading and managing multi-national teams, with a big emphasis on their personal and professional growth and development. The other part of her is that she has been really interested in self-development and alternative health and wellness for 18 years, and 7 years ago she qualified as an EFT/Tapping practitioner. During her corporate career, she met so many people who had the desire to do something more - improve their performance at work, go forward for a promotion, step up for a project or speaking opportunity - but were hesitating to do so, and in the wellness community she has met SO many practitioners who are underselling their services or hesitate to charge their worth. Shauna came to the realisation that these people, from different walks of life, had one thing in common - they all had blocks/fears / limiting beliefs which were holding them back from stepping up or putting the best version of themselves out there. A few years ago, therefore, Shauna did a further certification on how to use EFT/ Tapping specifically to help people to break through these blocks or limiting beliefs, so that they can set big goals for themselves and confidently work towards them, without fear or hesitation.
This is where "Tapping Into Success" was born. In this episode Shauna explains the process of tapping and Caroline discusses the benefits it has had for her in navigating through challenges.

Being in business in today's world in most cases requires a presence on social media. In my business, it requires constant attention and hard work to achieve growth and rewards. This I was prepared for however I wasn't prepared for the negative impact it would have on my family. In today's episode on The Digg Podcast I talk about how to address the topic of negativity surrounding social media and how to turn it into a positive within the home.
Social media takes consistency, determination and a never give up attitude and that is exactly what is needed from the business owner and realisation of this from your family.

Mon, 06 Sep 2021 - 46min - 20 - Tips for putting solid HR Foundations in place in your business with Johanna Scullion.
In the podcast we will be discussing the foundations small business owners need to put in place to a) honour their legal compliance duties as an employer and b) give them peace of mind that they have proper HR practices in place.
Top tips for small business owners to put solid HR foundations in place:
- Understand your starting point – you already have a “contract of employment” in place even if you don’t think you do. Take control and put a “written agreement / contract” in place asap – ALL EMPLOYEES MUST have a “principal statement of main terms and conditions of employment” in place from day of employment if you plan to employ them for longer than a month. I can discuss the “Key clauses” you must include. Put a “non-contractual” employee handbook in place that contains the “rules & standards” of your business. This can grow and expand with your business. The key HR policies all small businesses should have in place – including my number 1 MUST HAVE policy for all small business owners. The best HR is Informal HR – i.e. how to have challenging conversations with staff, when they are under-performing or not reaching your standards (nip it in the bud quickly). Ask me about “the sandwich”.
I can't wait for you all to listen and make changes in your business which will protect you and your employees straight away.
