- 667 - Alcaraz & Zverev lead Europe to Laver Cup glory + Czechia dominate the BJK Cup!
Fresh from Carlos Alcaraz inspiring Team Europe back to Laver Cup glory in London, we're back to unravel another busy week on the tour. Join Joel, Kim and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as we dissect Europe's triumph, clinched on Day 3 by Alexander Zverev, and ask whether the 13-5 scoreline really reflected how close the contest was. Was Team World's selection strategy off the mark from captain Andre Agassi and did Europe's doubles dominance decide it? We also get stuck into the court speed debate, the Federer-Alcaraz bromance, celebrity spotting featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, and whether players can complain about scheduling before adding exhibitions and team events to an already packed calendar.
Away from London, Czechia underlined their status as the leading nation in women’s tennis with a 12th Billie Jean King Cup title, whilst Leylah Fernandez rediscovered her best form in Singapore and Kimberly Birrell claimed a maiden WTA crown in Seoul. We debate Novak Djokovic's place on the newly unveiled Grand Slam Player Council, ask why the biggest stars aren't involved, and look ahead to Beijing where Elena Rybakina begins life as World No. 1 and Tokyo where Carlos Alcaraz is back with his first tour level appearance since Barcelona.

Mon, 28 Sep 2026 - 1h 05min - 666 - Laver Cup Day 2 Recap: Alcaraz Saves Match Points to Keep Team Europe Alive
Carlos Alcaraz puts on another show, saving two match points as Team Europe take a 7-5 lead at the Laver Cup! Join Joel and Kim at Tennis Weekly HQ as we catch up on a dramatic Day 2 in London, where every singles match delivered. Alcaraz produced another Laver Cup classic against Taylor Fritz in front of a spectating Roger Federer and Andy Murray, winning 6-3, 4-6, 13-11 to level the tie at 5-5. We also get stuck into Alex de Minaur’s incredible comeback against Alexander Zverev, his bizarre 4-0 record over him in team events, that chest bump celebration with captain Andre Agassi and why Zverev continues to struggle in Laver Cup singles. Plus, Learner Tien battled past Flavio Cobolli before Zverev and Casper Ruud put Europe back in front in the doubles - are Team World missing out on a true doubles lynchpin like they used to have with Jack Sock?
We also debate why there isn’t a women’s Laver Cup and what that could look like, with the potential for Sabalenka and Swiatek teaming up for doubles and the sofa content they could generate! Plus, we look ahead to a huge final day, with three points on offer per match. Can Team Europe hold their nerve and regain the title?

Sun, 27 Sep 2026 - 25min - 665 - Laver Cup Day 1 Recap: Alcaraz Returns & Team Europe Takes a 3-1 Lead
CARLOS ALCARAZ IS BACK IN LONDON… and Team Europe are already in control! Europe lead 3-1 after a dramatic opening day at the Laver Cup. Join Joel and Kim at Tennis Weekly HQ as we get stuck into 'Mensikaraz' impressive doubles win over Taylor Fritz and Alexander Bublik. Following on from his US Open Mixed Doubles triumph, is Mensik becoming the best singles player in the world of doubles and should teams consider bringing in doubles specialists to give them an edge? We also debate Team World captain Andre Agassi’s decision to play Bublik in back-to-back singles and doubles, while late replacement Brandon Nakashima explains how he got the call up following US Open finalist Ben Shelton's withdrawal as he got Team World’s first point on the board — the Summer of Nakashima continues!
Elsewhere, we ask the big question: why hasn’t Jannik Sinner played in the Laver Cup? Could we ever see the dream Alcaraz-Sinner doubles partnership, and what would that even look like? Plus, we look ahead to Day 2 action as Alcaraz takes on Taylor Fritz in singles and Alexander Zverev faces Alex de Minaur. Can Carlos lead Team Europe to another dominant day in London, or will Team World fight back?

Is the tennis news story of the year about to drop?! Is Carlos Alcaraz’s former coach Juan Carlos Ferrero about to coach Jannik Sinner in 2027?! In other news Holger Rune is BACK, Great Britain are through to the Davis Cup Final 8 and the USA have somehow crashed out! Join Joel and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ for our first post-US Open tour catch-up as we get stuck into Rune’s emotional return after 11 months out with an Achilles injury. Can the Dane get his career back on track, and could he cause some serious problems for Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner again? We also celebrate Great Britain reaching the Davis Cup Final 8 without Jack Draper or Cameron Norrie — could Arthur Fery lead the charge in Bologna? Meanwhile, Ben Shelton’s Davis Cup struggles continued as the USA suffered a shock defeat to Czechia. Should Shelton have played, and why does the US keep underperforming in this competition?
Plus, we discuss Draper calling time on his season and Joe Salisbury’s retirement after a hugely successful career, while Iva Jovic defended her Guadalajara title in style and Kaitlin Quevedo claimed her first WTA title. We preview the Laver Cup as Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev headline Team Europe’s return to London. Can Team Europe reclaim the trophy, or will Team World continue their recent dominance?

Tue, 22 Sep 2026 - 56min - 663 - US Open Wrap-up! Sabalenka meltdown, Nipplegate and a 3:33 AM Finish! 🫣
The US Open is over and it’s time in true Tennis Weekly fashion for the Tennis Weekly Wrap-Up Show! After two weeks of daily coverage of Flushing Meadows, Joel, Kim and Chris look back on a tournament packed with surprises, shocks and some predictions that have aged better than others. We revisit our pre-tournament picks for the men’s and women’s champions, including the now-infamous ‘Summer of Nakashima’ hype and our shocking lack of faith in Elena Rybakina, before handing out our US Open awards for Best Match, Biggest Upset, Biggest Surprise, One To Watch and Most Room For Improvement. Plus, there’s brand-new award categories for our favourite straight-sets match and best fashion fits - does Osaka make the cut?
Then it’s time for our patented Peak, Pit and Pleasant Surprise scorecard, featuring everything from Zheng winning sets from 0-5 and an iconic $100 red chicken nugget box (with caviar!) to the joys of nocturnal tennis and the mysterious smell of weed around the grounds. We’ll also celebrate some unexpected British runs, discuss the battle for the women’s world No.1 ranking and reveal which players have caught our eye for what comes next. Add in a few bold predictions that went spectacularly wrong, some strong opinions and the usual Tennis Weekly chaos, and you’ve got the perfect way to close out the US Open!

Mon, 14 Sep 2026 - 1h 00min - 662 - US Open Day 15: Zverev defeats Shelton to win 2nd slam of 2026
Alexander Zverev is a two-time Grand Slam champion! The German battled past home hope Ben Shelton in four sets to win the US Open and exorcise his demons from finishing runner-up to Dominic Thiem in the final six years ago. Join Joel and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ for our US Open Day 15 catch-up as we debate whether Zverev is now genuinely in the conversation with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, or simply the best of the rest without a statement win over either of them in a major. Plus, could he go one step further and complete the career Grand Slam, having already reached Australian Open and Wimbledon finals?
For Ben Shelton, the wait for an American male Grand Slam champion since Andy Roddick at the US Open 2003 goes on. Was this a valuable reality check for the 23-year-old, and what does he still need to add to his game to back-up his booming serve to win a major? We also debate whether his ‘panic’ play on the biggest points and lack of experience at this stage were deciding factors plus whether Shelton can give himself another shot at Grand Slam glory next season. Our Collect a Set champion is also revealed as we announce who is taking home the coveted Tennis Weekly Mug…

Mon, 14 Sep 2026 - 37min - 661 - US Open Day 14: Rybakina dethrones Sabalenka in New York
World No.1 AND US Open champion! Elena Rybakina completed a fairytale in New York, beating Aryna Sabalenka in three sets to win her second Grand Slam title and finally reach the top of the rankings. Join Joel and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ for our US Open Day 14 catch-up as we celebrate an incredible turnaround for Rybakina, who was a major injury doubt before the tournament and is now one Roland Garros title away from completing the career Grand Slam. Could she really go on to dominate women’s tennis? For Sabalenka, there were yet more emotional scenes and racket smashes as she lost another big final and is now slamless for the first time since 2023. When will her Grand Slam trophy drought finally end, and what is it about Rybakina’s game that Sabalenka finds so difficult to solve?
Away from the court, we discuss the worrying financial situation facing the WTA, with projected operating losses of $23 million in 2026. Is the tour struggling to capture the casual audience and market its biggest stars? We also celebrate Neal Skupski’s Grand Slam doubles triumph, Alfie Hewett’s wheelchair tennis heroics and look ahead to the men’s final between Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton. Can Shelton become the first American male Grand Slam champion since Andy Roddick in 2003?

Sun, 13 Sep 2026 - 34min - 660 - US Open Day 13: Shelton makes history as he sets up Zverev final
Ben Shelton is one win away from ending a 23-year wait for an American man to win a Grand Slam singles title! The 23-year-old battled past Frances Tiafoe in an all-American US Open semi-final to reach his first major final. Join Joel and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ for our US Open Day 13 catch-up as we get stuck into Shelton’s comeback from a set down, his serving brilliance and what Tiafoe needs to do to finally reach his first Grand Slam final. Meanwhile, Alexander Zverev reached his third consecutive Grand Slam final with a straight-sets win over Karen Khachanov, but surprisingly low ticket prices for the match — less than the cost of a Honey Deuce! — raised questions about just how much star power Zverev actually brings to the court. We also debate Zverev’s extended ball-bouncing routine, with Khachanov clearly not impressed.
We preview the blockbuster Zverev vs Shelton final, including whether Zverev’s dominance against left-handers could prove crucial, how he’ll handle the all-American crowd and whether his 1-4 Grand Slam final record will count against him. Plus, we celebrate doubles legend Katerina Siniakova completing the career Grand Slam with two different partners — Taylor Townsend and Barbora Krejcikova — and discuss the all-important finals-weekend entertainment announcement… including JoJo!

Sat, 12 Sep 2026 - 44min - 659 - US Open Day 12: Sabalenka and Rybakina set up blockbuster final
World No. 1 vs impending World No. 1. It doesn’t get much bigger than this! Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina are set for a blockbuster US Open final after both battled through their semi-finals on Day 12. Join Kim and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as we look back on Rybakina backing up securing her first-ever World No. 1 ranking to be made official on Monday by battling past Coco Gauff to reach her first US Open final, while Sabalenka produced what Jessica Pegula called the best match she’s played all year to reach her fourth consecutive final in New York. Is this the perfect final for the US Open, and after their incredible Australian Open final earlier this year, will Sabalenk be able to serve up some revenge?
We also get stuck into the semi-final performances themselves, with Rybakina recovering from a shaky start to get past Gauff and Sabalenka once again showing just how ridiculous her record is on hard courts of grand slams. With her 99-week reign at No. 1 now over, could winning the US Open be the perfect response from Sabalenka? And after reaching eight consecutive Grand Slam finals on hard courts, is she simply a different beast in New York? Plus, we preview the blockbuster Rybakina vs Sabalenka final, debate where it could be won and lost and make our final predictions.

Fri, 11 Sep 2026 - 33min - 658 - US Open Day 11: Rybakina secures No.1 ranking, Gauff saves match point to make semis
Elena Rybakina is the new women’s World No. 1 for the first time! Join Joel and Kim at Tennis Weekly HQ for our US Open Day 12 catch-up as we look back on her three-set victory over Qinwen Zheng and reflect on Rybakina finally reaching the top of the rankings after such a long wait. We also look back on Aryna Sabalenka’s incredible 99-week reign and what comes next for the two-time defending US Open champion. Coco Gauff battled back from a set down and saved two match points to reach another US Open semi-final against Rybakina. It was classic Coco — winning ugly, finding a way and somehow surviving when she looked to be on the brink. Did Mirra Andreeva miss her chance to close it out or did Coco come up clutch at the right moments?
On the men’s side, Alexander Zverev continued his US Open run with a straight-sets win over Botic van de Zandschulp to reach his third semi-final at Flushing Meadows, where he’ll face Karen Khachanov after Alexander Blockx was forced to retire. Is Zverev now the favourite for the title? We also get stuck into Tennis Australia CEO Andrew Abdo’s comments about potentially shortening best-of-five matches and the Australian Open’s punchy response, before looking ahead to the women’s semi-finals and making our predictions.

Thu, 10 Sep 2026 - 41min - 657 - US Open Day 10: Shelton stuns Alcaraz in latest ever finish
WHAT. A. DAY. Ben Shelton stunned defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in a four-and-a-half-hour US Open epic that finished at 3:33am — the latest finish in US Open history. Join Joel and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ for our US Open Day 10 catch-up as we relive one of the best days of tennis we’ve seen this season (second only to Australian Open men’s semi-finals day!). Is Ben Shelton now the favourite for the title? And did four-and-a-half months off the tennis court finally catch up with Carlos Alcaraz, or was it simply fifth-set nerves? Plus, Frances Tiafoe completed an incredible comeback from two sets and a break down against big-serving Alex Michelsen to book his place in a third US Open semi-final.
On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka survived a huge test against Linda Noskova to reach her sixth (!) consecutive US Open semi-final, reminding us all of her champion quality after a season where it’s been lacking a little too often. Was this exactly the type of win Sabalenka needed against the Wimbledon champion? Jessica Pegula battled past Emma Navarro to set up another Flushing Meadows encounter with Sabalenka, while we debated Wimbledon’s decision to crack down on influencers following the US Open chaos. Plus, we look ahead to Day 11 and make our predictions for Gauff vs Andreeva, Zverev vs van de Zandschulp and Zheng vs Rybakina — will Rybakina seize the World No. 1 ranking?

Wed, 09 Sep 2026 - 41min - 656 - US Open Day 9: Rybakina closes in on No.1, Coco cruises and Swiatek's shock defeat
Coco Gauff delivered a statement performance against Iva Jovic under the Arthur Ashe lights to reach the US Open quarter-finals. Join Kim and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ for our US Open Day 9 catch-up as we debate what made Gauff so impressive in her 6-1, 6-4 win and whether she can kick on to pick up her second title at Flushing Meadows. Next up is Mirra Andreeva who holds a 0-5 record in their head-to-head. Can she buck the form book? Meanwhile, Qinwen Zheng somehow came back from 0-5 down AGAIN against Iga Swiatek. Is she set to do a full Emma Raducanu and win the title as a qualifier?
In the quest for World No. 1, Elena Rybakina produced arguably the performance of the tournament so far, dismantling Naomi Osaka to move one win away from the top of the rankings. Is Rybakina now the player to beat? We also discuss Iga’s worst Grand Slam season since 2019, Alexander Zverev’s growing title credentials, Belgian history-maker Alexander Blockx and Botic van de Zandschulp’s five-hour comeback.

Tue, 08 Sep 2026 - 46min - 655 - US Open Day 8: Carlos levels up against Paul as Sabalenka sets up Pegula clash
Statement victory alert! Carlos Alcaraz cruised past Tommy Paul in straight sets to reach another US Open quarter-final, but did this finally prove he was the clear favourite to defend his title, or was Paul simply not good enough to ask the right questions? Join Joel and Kim at Tennis Weekly HQ for our US Open Day 8 catch-up as we debate whether Alcaraz has now found his best level of the tournament. We also discuss yet another Nike x Cactus Jack outfit, including the controversial switch from coffee to white. Did Alcaraz play it a bit too safe with this one, and which of his US Open kits has been the best so far?
Aryna Sabalenka also reached the quarter-finals after overcoming Taylor Townsend in a see-saw 6-4, 6-3 battle, with 11 of the 19 games ending in breaks. Was Sabalenka really as comfortable as the scoreline suggested? Her serve and Townsend’s struggles at the net gave us plenty to debate. Plus, Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova reached her first US Open quarter-final after a thriller against Marta Kostyuk. Can she really trouble Sabalenka, or will she simply be too knackered after a three-hour epic? We also discuss Ben Shelton ending the 149-year men’s single-handed backhand streak, Frances Tiafoe’s love for Louis Armstrong (10-0 now!) after a statement straight-sets win over Daniil Medvedev, the all-American ‘Battle of the Billionaires’ Pegula vs Navarro quarter-final and look ahead to Osaka vs Rybakina and Gauff vs Jovic on Day 9.

Mon, 07 Sep 2026 - 39min - 654 - US Open Day 7: Jovic defeats Eala in all time classic as Gauff and Swiatek dominate
Alex Eala vs Iva Jovic delivers a three-set thriller, Taylor Fritz blows a two-set lead, and Naomi Osaka survives a US Open nailbiter! Join Joel and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ for our US Open Day 7 catch-up as we get into a sensational Eala vs Jovic contest that has got ask wondering was that the match of the year so far and whether we’ve just witnessed the arrival of another American teenage star. Plus, Naomi Osaka escapes Elise Mertens after debuting her latest streetwear inspired walk-on outfit and sets up a huge showdown with Elena Rybakina who is only two matches away from the World No. 1 ranking.
It was a brutal day for the Americans as Taylor Fritz threw away a two-set lead against Francisco Cerundolo, while Madison Keys somehow surrendered a 5-0 lead in the deciding set against Zheng Qinwen. Just how damaging were these defeats and for Fritz will he get a better opportunity at making another Grand Slam final? We also take a look at Iga Swiatek’s hard-fought win over Marie Bouzkova (best straight sets win of the tournament anyone?) and look ahead to Day 8 with Alcaraz and Sabalenka headlining the Day session.

Sun, 06 Sep 2026 - 42min - 653 - US Open Day 6: Serena & Venus return in doubles as Alcaraz sweeps into week 2
Carlos Alcaraz cruises into the second week, Aryna Sabalenka strolls into Round 4, and the Williams sisters suffer a heartbreaking doubles defeat on their return to Flushing Meadows! Join Joel and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ for our US Open Day 6 catch-up as we debate whether Alcaraz’s 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 win over Wu Yibing was as comfortable as the scoreline suggests, whether his serve is a concern, and whether Tommy Paul can cause him any issues despite their one-sided H2H. Plus, we discuss Alcaraz’s latest kit including the debut of a white undershirt following the fallout of ‘nipple gate’.
We also discuss Sabalenka’s bizarre mid-match stoppage over the smell of weed (is it legal), and whether Taylor Townsend can give the defending champion her first proper test. Jessica Pegula won ugly against the dangerous and former US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez, Stefanos Tsitsipas continues his out-of-nowhere resurgence and Ben Shelton reaches the second week with an impressive victory over Denis Shapovalov. Plus, we debate the US Open’s growing influencer presence and whether it’s a good thing, Serena and Venus’ dramatic doubles defeat and what the future might hold for both of them - could we see both of them at the Australian Open in 2027 and in what capacity? And we look ahead to Day 7 as ‘Eala-mania’ takes over Arthur Ashe in the night session against the fast rising American teenager Iva Jovic.

Sat, 05 Sep 2026 - 41min - 652 - US Open Day 5: Eala set for Jovic showdown as Swiatek continues dominant form
Iga Swiatek and Alex Eala ease through, Taylor Fritz drops just two games, and Coco Gauff gets revenge on Paula Badosa! Join Kim and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ for our US Open Day 5 catch-up as we debate whether Swiatek and Eala have been the most impressive players in New York so far, and whether ‘Eala-mania’ is on collision course for an Eala vs Gauff showdown in Round 4 or will another rising teen Iva Jovic have something to say about that. Plus, apologies are in order as we revisit Alcaraz’s bow-and-arrow celebration and Sabalenka’s all-black outfit!
There’s plenty more to debate as Naomi Osaka and Madison Keys are made to work hard, with Keys saving five match points in a dramatic escape against Anna Bondar. Is Taylor Fritz now a genuine US Open contender after his latest demolition of Mattia Bellucci, or has he simply been handed a kind draw? We also discuss Karen Khachanov’s ‘upset’ of third seed Felix Auger-Aliassime, Zverev performing yet another great escape in the night session, the new Adidas cooling kit for the brutal New York heat (we want one for Wimbledon 2027!), as well as look ahead to Day 6 action with Serena and Venus Williams in doubles action for the first time at the US Open since 2022.

Fri, 04 Sep 2026 - 40min - 651 - US Open Day 4: Alcaraz battles back as Sabalenka finds her level in New York
Carlos Alcaraz puts a first-set blip behind him, Aryna Sabalenka is absolutely ruthless, and Rafael Jodar crashes out to a lucky loser in one of the shocks of the US Open so far! Join Joel and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ for our US Open Day 4 catch-up as we debate whether Alcaraz’s four-set win over Jaime Faria was actually the perfect test for the defending champion. There was also more ‘nipple gate’ as Alcaraz debuted a new Travis Scott x Cactus Jack outfit… and this time the nipple managed to contain itself! Meanwhile, Sabalenka demolished Polina Iatcenko in just 53 minutes, but the real drama came afterwards as she hit back at questions about her pre-US Open ‘parties’. Is there a double standard when it comes to female tennis players and their lives away from the court?
We also debate the chaotic US Open schedule, with Jessica Pegula through to Round 3 before some players had even stepped onto court, while Ben Shelton came up clutch against Hubert Hurkacz. We come to terms with the fact that the summer of Nakashima is now over (sorry Kim!) and ask whether Rafael Jodar’s packed summer finally caught up with him following his one-sided loss to a lucky loser. Plus, we look ahead to Day 5, with Iga Swiatek, Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff vs Paula Badosa all featuring, while ‘Eala-mania’ looks set to continue on Louis Armstrong in the Day Session.

Thu, 03 Sep 2026 - 42min - 650 - US Open Day 3: Gauff's straight sets masterclass + Eala impresses in opener
It was another late, late show at the US Open! Coco Gauff battled through to Round 2 with her remodelled serve, whilst Alex Eala made a confident start in front of a raucous Louis Armstrong crowd. We also celebrate Gael Monfils turning 40 with a vintage performance (and a bagel!), while Venus and Serena discover their doubles opponents — can Serena serve up some Maya Joint Wimbledon revenge?
Alexander Zverev somehow survived a five-set epic against Lorenzo Sonego that finished just short of 2am. But was this actually the perfect match Zverev needed to kickstart his title bid — or another warning sign? Elsewhere,
The Day Session also brought more debate and rain, as Taylor Fritz cruises past 18-year-old prospect Darwin Blanch, Flavio Cobolli pulls off his first-ever two-set comeback, and Elena Rybakina begins her World No.1 chase with a win over Thea Frodin. Plus, Madison Keys survives a typical Madi rollercoaster, Mirra Andreeva advances, and we look ahead to Day 4 with Alcaraz and Sabalenka under the Ashe lights.

Wed, 02 Sep 2026 - 36min - 649 - US Open Day 2: Alcaraz back with statement victory + New York fashion download!
In today’s episode, we break down an absolutely packed Day 2 of the 2026 US Open! Carlos Alcaraz makes a triumphant, pain-free return to Arthur Ashe after a 139-day wrist injury layoff, sweeping Roman Safiullin in straight sets. Meanwhile, world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka kicks off her quest for a historic three-peat with a no-mercy victory over Camila Osorio, and Iga Swiatek looks completely dialed in against Wang Xiyu.
We also dive into the heavy emotional storylines of the day: Naomi Osaka’s gritty double-tiebreak thriller against Anastasia Zakharova, a vintage heavyweight clash between Stan Wawrinka and Matteo Berrettini, and Stefanos Tsitsipas pulling off a massive 4-set upset over 10th-seed Arthur Fils.
Plus, you know we had to talk about the fits! We review the best and boldest US Open Day 2 fashion—from the day session heat to the custom prime-time night kits under the New York lights.

Tue, 01 Sep 2026 - 43min - 648 - US Open Day 1: Djokovic’s brutal exit & Venus’ 2AM heartbreak
That’s a wrap on a dramatic Day 1 at the US Open! Novak Djokovic is OUT in the first round of a Grand Slam for the first time since 2006, losing a five-set battle to Mariano Navone in the New York heat. After the concerns over his physical condition in Cincinnati, just how significant is this defeat for his pursuit of Grand Slam No.25 — and what does it mean for Djokovic’s future? There was late-night drama on Arthur Ashe too, as Venus Williams made US Open history with the latest-starting and latest-finishing first-round match ever. She pushed Sofia Kenin to a second-set tiebreak before bowing out — but should she continue to receive wildcards?
Plus, Barbora Krejcikova is already heading home (no Sabalenka match-up R3!), Jessica Pegula makes a strong start to her World No.1 bid, and Daniil Medvedev gets through comfortably — chewing gum and all. We also have mixed fortunes for the Brits with Toby Samuel cracking the Top 100, some Federer nostalgia being inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, Stan Wawrinka wracking up the airmiles in more wildcard drama, and a look ahead to Day 2 with the return of defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.

Mon, 31 Aug 2026 - 44min - 647 - US Open Preview! Alcaraz's lucky draw, Swiatek vs Rybakina AGAIN + can Sabalenka stay at No.1?
The US Open is here! Join Joel, Kim and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as they dissect the men’s and women’s singles draws quarter by quarter, pick their champions and, naturally, throw in a few BOLD predictions along the way. On the men’s side, Jannik Sinner may be missing, but Carlos Alcaraz and his new haircut are back and he finds himself in the same half as Novak Djokovic who is still searching for full fitness. Meanwhile, Alexander Zverev is the top seed at a Grand Slam for the first time, but after just two wins across Canada and Cincinnati, can he finally make the most of his seeding in New York? Plus, Stan Wawrinka gets his US Open wildcard after initially missing out to set up a Wimbledon repeat against Matteo Berrettini, thanks to a late withdrawal.
Over on the women’s side, it’s all about the World No.1 battle between Elena Rybakina, Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff. Has Sabalenka got the easier route, or is every match now a potential banana skin - especially with former Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova potentially waiting in R3? And will Rybakina even make it onto court after pulling up injured versus Swiatek in Cincinnati? Plus, Collect a Set returns, we react to the madness of Fan Week, including the Serena-Alcaraz partnership and Federer vs Roddick back on court — with a very familiar result.

Thu, 27 Aug 2026 - 1h 13min - 646 - Sinner out of US Open as Alcaraz makes Mixed Doubles comeback with Serena!
Sinner is OUT, Alcaraz is IN for the US Open… and playing mixed doubles with Serena Williams?! It’s been quite the week for headline grabbing stories on the ATP and WTA Tours as we head towards the final Grand Slam of the season in New York. Join Joel, Kim and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as they discuss the bombshell news that Jannik Sinner will miss the US Open with a knee injury. Does this open the door for Djokovic to land Grand Slam No.25? And with Alcaraz returning from injury, can we really expect him to be among the favourites to defend his title?
Elsewhere, we celebrate Coco Gauff’s Cincinnati triumph - has she put herself back among the leading contenders in New York? Meanwhile, Sabalenka suffers another tough defeat to rising Czech star Sara Bejlek, adding further intrigue to the World No.1’s form. On the men’s side, Arthur Fils claims his first Masters 1000 title as his comeback continues to gather momentum. Plus, Djokovic struggles in the Cincinnati heat, Nick Kyrgios tests positive for cocaine, Stan Wawrinka misses out on a US Open wildcard to Patrick Kypson (USTA own goal!), and we debate what needs to be done to combat the tournament’s soaring ticket prices with a reported $363 just to get in for a ground pass on Day 1 through resale.

Mon, 24 Aug 2026 - 1h 10min - 645 - Swiatek wins her first title of season, Shelton defends Canadian Open + Cincinnati Preview!
Iga Swiatek is BACK! The former World No.1 ends her title drought in style, defeating Elena Rybakina in the Canada Masters final to claim her first WTA 1000 title of the season — and having a few things to say to her critics along the way. Join Joel and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as we debate whether Iga is back to being a genuine US Open contender, just how close she is to “completing tennis” with only three big titles and an Olympic gold left, and the very important matter of her photoshoot with Elway, the Canadian Open head groundsman’s dog.
Over in Montreal, Ben Shelton does it again. Is he a genuine US Open contender and a first American male winner since Andy Roddick or has he simply been the biggest beneficiary of Alcaraz and Sinner’s absence and injury uncertainty? Plus, Jack Draper’s comeback takes another painful turn, Djokovic returns in peak physical health, and we make our Cincinnati predictions as the final Masters 1000 before the US Open gets underway. And, of course, Serena and Venus Williams have reunited for doubles after the chaos of their cancelled Wimbledon return.

Sat, 15 Aug 2026 - 1h 05min - 644 - Sincaraz out of Cincinnati, Sabalenka's struggles continue + Swiatek back on track?
Chaos in Canada! We’re at the halfway stage of the Canada Masters and, despite the lack of star power, it’s already thrown up plenty of unexpected stories. On the women’s side, we discuss Aryna Sabalenka’s latest three-set defeat and ask just how worrying her form is heading into the US Open. Is the pressure starting to get to the world No.1, who hasn’t won a title since Miami and is now clinging to the top spot by a thread? There’s also a resurgent Iga Swiatek and we get very excited about the first-ever meeting between Naomi Osaka and Elena Rybakina — genuinely, how has it taken this long?
On the men’s side, we discuss Jack Draper’s emotional return to the tour and the awkward question of whether he came back too soon. And after all the talk of a ‘new’ Zverev, can we really put him in the same conversation as Sinner and Alcaraz after losing his first match back since Wimbledon? Speaking of Sinner and Alcaraz, we look at their injury troubles ahead of Cincinnati, ask whether two-week Masters events should be mandatory combined events given how barren the schedules have been in Toronto and Montreal, and get stuck into Novak Djokovic’s radical idea for changing the scoring system.

Mon, 10 Aug 2026 - 1h 05min - 643 - Alex Eala becomes first Filipino to win a tour level title, Fritz wins biggest title since 2022
What a week it has been for Alexandra Eala! Join Joel, Kim and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as they react to the Filipina making yet more history by becoming the first player from her country to win a WTA Tour singles title after storming back to defeat (and final set bagel!) Jessica Pegula in Washington after a Sunday washout. Has Eala officially announced herself as a genuine US Open contender, or are there still question marks over whether her serve can hold up at the very highest level?
Elsewhere, we celebrate 16-year-old Kristina Liutova becoming the youngest WTA champion since Coco Gauff in 2019, while Arthur Gea continued a very successful last few weeks for Frenchmen on the ATP Tour with the title in Los Cabos. We also tackle the publication of the full ITIA report into Markéta Vondroušová's four-year suspension, debate whether players who retire in qualifying (ahem Bernard Tomic) should still be eligible as lucky losers, and make our predictions as the Canada Masters gets underway with Alexander Zverev and Aryna Sabalenka leading the draws.

Mon, 03 Aug 2026 - 1h 09min - 642 - Djokovic + Sabalenka for US Open Mixed Doubles, Canadian Open withdrawals + Olympics update!
'DJOKALENKA' is officially happening... but will everyone else actually turn up? Join Joel, Kim and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as they react to the star-studded US Open Mixed Doubles field, wonder why the Williams sisters are nowhere to be seen, and debate whether Jannik Sinner's absence is part of the wider player unrest over Grand Slam prize money. And with Roland Garros now open to a revenue-sharing model, is prize money at Grand Slams finally reaching a turning point?
Elsewhere, we celebrate 18-year-old Lilli Tagger storms to her maiden WTA title in Prague and ask whether a single handed backhand still has a role to play at the very top of the women’s game. t was also a great week to be a Frenchman with Quentin Halys' emotional first ATP title after 14 years, and Luca Van Assche's long-awaited return to the winner's circle. Plus, we tackle the Canadian Open's withdrawal crisis - can anything be done to stop top players skipping it?, discuss the eyebrow-raising decision to start the LA 2028 Olympic tennis event just three (!) days after Wimbledon ends and will it make players choose between one or the other, and look forward to Jack Draper's return with coach Andy Murray back in his corner.

Mon, 27 Jul 2026 - 1h 03min - 641 - Carlos comeback is confirmed as he celebrates World Cup win + titles for Rublev and Tsitsipas!
Title droughts no more for Andrey Rublev and Stefanos Tsitsipas! Join Joel, Kim and Chris back at Tennis Weekly HQ for their first tour catch-up since Wimbledon, with Chris returning from Bastad (bucket hat and all!) to tell us what went on behind the scenes including Sweden's answer to Wimbledon's famous Dog & Fox pub.
On court, we debate whether Rublev and Tsitsipas' long-awaited titles are the start of genuine revivals or simply a false dawn. Were we ever worried Tsitsipas might never win another ATP title? Has splitting with his father as coach already proved to be the right decision?
We also celebrate yet another Czech success story on the WTA Tour this year as Barbora Krejcikova claims her first singles title since becoming Wimbledon champion, discuss whether Carlos Alcaraz is making the right call by targeting Cincinnati for his comeback, and ask what version of the Spaniard we should expect to see. Plus, Damir Dzumhur had plenty to say after another electronic line-calling controversy in Umag (and, whisper it... we might actually agree with him!), we question whether Grand Slams should channel the World Cup and introduce third-place play-offs, and look ahead to another busy week on the ATP and WTA Tours including action from Kitzbuhel, Estoril and Prague.

Mon, 13 Jul 2026 - 54min - 639 - Wimbledon Day 14 - Jannik Sinner defeats Zverev to defend his Wimbledon title!
Sinner winner! Jannik Sinner has successfully defended his Wimbledon crown, but it was anything but straightforward as he battled past Alexander Zverev in a thrilling four-set final on Centre Court. Join Joel, Kim and Chris back at Tennis Weekly HQ as they break down how Sinner continues to find a way against one of the biggest hitters in the game. We discuss Sinner’s incredible response after his Paris disappointment, his remarkable consistency, the unbreakable-looking serve, and how he has now won 10 matches in a row against Zverev while becoming just the 10th man in the Open Era to defend the Wimbledon title.
For Zverev, we look at his huge progress since becoming a Roland Garros champion, whether he now belongs alongside Sinner and Alcaraz in the Grand Slam conversation, and if this run can give him belief that another major title is within reach in the not too distant future. Plus, we wrap up the women’s doubles where Kristina Mladenovic has become a Career Grand Slam Doubles champion, the wheelchair singles final including Tokito Oda’s wonky trophy mishap plus reveal our Babolat Pure Drive winner and Wimbledon Collect a Set champion.

Sun, 12 Jul 2026 - 26min - 637 - Wimbledon Day 13 - Noskova defeats Muchova on sixth match point for 1st slam title!
Linda Noskova is your new Wimbledon champion! After a nervy mid-match wobble—and five championship points that came and went in the second set—the Czech held her nerve to deny Karolina Muchova and claim her first Grand Slam title. Join Kim and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as they react to a dramatic ladies' final, discuss whether Noskova has what it takes to become a multiple Slam winner, and wonder just how much longer Muchova's wait for that elusive maiden major might be.
Elsewhere, we wrap up the doubles finals so far with Britain's Henry Patten making it two Wimbledon men's doubles titles alongside Henri Heliovaara, using his trophy presentation to make some very interesting comments in light of the ATP doubles proposals. Jelena Ostapenko is also a mixed doubles champion and all eyes turn to Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev. Will the Italian defend his title or will the German complete the Channel Slam?

Sun, 12 Jul 2026 - 37min - 636 - Wimbledon Day 12 - Sinner gets Djokovic revenge, Zverev ends Fery run to make back to back slam finals
Rinse and repeat! Jannik Sinner is back in the Wimbledon final, and Novak Djokovic's bid for a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title is over once again. Join Joel and Kim at Tennis Weekly HQ as we react to Sinner's commanding straight-sets victory over Djokovic in a complete reversal of their Australian Open semifinal earlier this year, discuss whether the seven-time Wimbledon champion can still win another major, and ask whether the World No. 1 even needs to produce his very best tennis anymore to beat the Serbian legend.
We also break down Alexander Zverev's clinical victory over British wildcard Arthur Fery, reflect on an extraordinary fortnight for the home hope as he sets his sights on establishing himself on the ATP Tour, and debate the net-cord controversy that overshadowed the opening set. Elsewhere, we preview Sunday's blockbuster Wimbledon final between Sinner and Zverev—their first-ever meeting on grass—and explain why it could be far closer than their four meetings earlier this season suggest. Fri, 10 Jul 2026 - 39min - 635 - Wimbledon Day 11 - Muchova saves match point to defeat Gauff in epic as Noskova sets up an all Czech final!
An all-Czech Wimbledon women’s final is set! At Tennis Weekly HQ, we react to one of the matches of The Championships as Karolina Muchova edges Coco Gauff in a nerve-shredding deciding-set tiebreak, debate whether Gauff's match-point drop shot will haunt her, and ask if we've just witnessed the WTA match of the season. We also discuss Linda Noskova's composed victory over Marta Kostyuk as the 21-year-old reaches her first Grand Slam final, guaranteeing yet another Czech women's champion at Wimbledon.
Elsewhere, Chris takes us behind the scenes at the All England Club with a chat from the Official Racket Service of Wimbledon at Aorangi with Babolat’s Lucien Noguess who has been stringing rackets at Wimbledon for 45 years (!), before we look ahead to a blockbuster day of men's semi-finals featuring Arthur Fery, Alexander Zverev, Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic. But why are Fery and Zverev playing first despite having a day's less rest than Sinner and Djokovic? Naturally, we have a few thoughts...

Thu, 09 Jul 2026 - 49min - 634 - Wimbledon Day 10 - British wild card Arthur Fery is into the semifinals + Kostyuk to face Noskova for final spot!
The FERYtale continues as the British player becomes the first Wild Card to make the semifinals since Goran Goran Ivanisevic won the title in 2001. In unbelievable scenes on Centre Court, Fery defeated No.9 Cobolli for the second time at a grand slam this year and completes the blockbuster semifinal line-up of Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev and ARTHUR FERY. Zverev defeated his bogeyman Taylor Fritz who was hampered by an ongoing knee injury but it marks new ground or Zverev who had never made it to a semifinal at SW19 before.
On the women’s side it was more firsts with Marta Kostyuk making back to back semifinals in Paris and Wimbledon and a huge breakthrough for Czech Linda Noskova who had a coming of age win against Elise Mertens on No.1 Court. Both players will be seeking to make their first grand slam final on Thursday and will face the winner of Coco Gauff and Karolina Muchova. What we do know for sure is that there will be a new Wimbledon champion come Saturday!

Wimbledon's roof drama took centre stage and Centre Court as Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner locked in another blockbuster semi-final showdown in a major. At Tennis Weekly HQ, we react to Djokovic's eventful victory over Felix Auger-Aliassime, unpack the controversy surrounding Wimbledon's decision to close the Centre Court roof with daylight still available, and assess whether defending champion Jannik Sinner has found the level needed to stop the seven-time champion after seeing off Jan-Lennard Struff. We also discuss Alexander Zverev's views on the curfew debate after his match was carried over, plus why Taylor Fritz continues to have the German's number ahead of their quarter-final clash.
On the women's side, Coco Gauff battled past Jessica Pegula to reach her first Wimbledon semi-final, while Karolina Muchova ended Naomi Osaka's impressive run to set up a fascinating last-four meeting. We also hear from Gauff after her victory, debate whether Pegula let her biggest chance at a first major slip away, and preview tomorrow’s quarter-final action as British wildcard Arthur Fery looks to continue his remarkable fairytale against Flavio Cobolli.

Arthur Fery's Wimbledon FERY-TALE just keeps getting better! The British wildcard produced a stunning five-set comeback against Grigor Dimitrov to become the first home wildcard in the Open Era to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals. At Tennis Weekly HQ, we break down one of the stories of the tournament, ask whether this is the most unexpected British Grand Slam run in recent memory, and discuss what went wrong for Dimitrov after another heartbreaking missed opportunity at a Grand Slam.
On the women's side, Alexandra Eala's dream Wimbledon run comes to an end against former finalist Jasmine Paolini, while Marta Kostyuk, Linda Noskova and Elise Mertens all reach their maiden Wimbledon quarter-finals as the draw continues to open up. Plus, Chris catches up with doubles champion Henry Patten to discuss Reilly Opelka's comments on doubles, we uncover the secrets and mystique of Wimbledon's exclusive "Last 8 Club", and preview a blockbuster opening day of the quarter-finals featuring Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula's long-awaited Centre Court debut.

Mon, 06 Jul 2026 - 46min - 631 - Wimbledon Day 7 - Osaka overpowers Sabalenka, Gauff beats the curfew + Djokovic tested by qualifier!
Naomi Osaka rolled back the years with a statement straight-sets win over world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, snapping records and streaks in a GRASSAKA masterclass to reach her first Wimbledon quarterfinal. Joel and Chris break down whether Osaka is now the woman to beat, plus we hear from Joel who caught up with Sabalenka straight after her defeat (and yes… there were sweaty palms involved). Jessica Pegula also keeps the American charge going, powering past rising star Iva Jovic to set up a blockbuster all-American clash with Coco Gauff.
On the men’s side, Novak Djokovic made history once again, overtaking Roger Federer for the most Wimbledon match wins after a gritty battle with Roman Safiullin, while Jannik Sinner and Felix Auger-Aliassime keep their title hopes alive after a five-set thriller and some very spicy post-match opinions (Fokina was NOT happy!). We also look ahead to Day 8, with Arthur Fery finally Centre Court-bound against Grigor Dimitrov and Alexandra Eala looking to back up her big win against Iga Swiatek.

Mon, 06 Jul 2026 - 41min - 630 - Wimbledon Day 6 - Alex Eala upsets Swiatek, Dimitrov's run continues + Serena withdrawal!
Centre Court has a brand new breakout star, Wimbledon champions past and present are heading home, and Britain's dream run is still alive. Join Joel and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as we react to Alexandra Eala's stunning victory over defending champion Iga Swiatek as the Filipina becomes the first player from her country to reach the second week of a Grand Slam. We discuss whether Eala is now a genuine Wimbledon title contender, what went wrong for Swiatek, and why 2022 champion Elena Rybakina's grass-court dominance has suddenly deserted her after another shock exit. Elsewhere, Marta Kostyuk backed up her impressive Roland Garros showing and Ashlyn Krueger continued her form as the women's draw opened up even further in the bottom half.
On the ATP side, Arthur Fery produces the comeback of the day to reach the fourth round and keep British hopes alive, while Alexander Zverev, Grigor Dimitrov and Jiri Lehecka all progress. We also reflect on Serena Williams' emotional withdrawal from doubles with Venus and preview a blockbuster Day 7 featuring Aryna Sabalenka against Naomi Osaka - is it the match to decide where the women’s singles title is heading?

Sun, 05 Jul 2026 - 43min - 629 - Wimbledon Day 5 - Djokovic + Sinner progress, Sabalenka outhits Ostapenko and will Serena play doubles?
On today’s Wimbledon Day 5 catch-up, we discuss Novak Djokovic battling past Arthur Rinderknech to equal Roger Federer’s all-time men’s singles wins record at Wimbledon with his 105th victory, while continuing his pursuit of an eighth title at SW19. We also look at Jannik Sinner’s most convincing performance of the tournament so far as he eased into the fourth round, and debate whether the defending champion is finally starting to justify his favourite status.
On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka produced a clinical display against Jelena Ostapenko to set up a mouth-watering Round 4 showdown with Naomi Osaka, who reached the second week at Wimbledon for the first time in her career. We hear from Osaka on her surprising preference for No.1 Court over Centre Court and discuss whether she can gain revenge on Sabalenka after their recent meeting in Paris. Elsewhere, we examine the controversy surrounding Wimbledon’s handling of Venus and Serena Williams’ doubles return, question whether special treatment is being given to the legendary sisters, assess why so many of the ATP’s rising stars have struggled on grass compared to Roland Garros, and look ahead to Day 6 with Britain’s Arthur Fery now the last home player standing in the singles draw.

Sat, 04 Jul 2026 - 42min - 628 - Wimbledon Day 4 - Swiatek's A+ performance, Berrettini upsets Fils + Djokovic schedule drama!
Iga Swiatek is finding her grass-court groove, Matteo Berrettini is rolling back the years, and Arthur Fery is flying the British flag after becoming the last home player standing in the Wimbledon singles draws. At Tennis Weekly HQ, we react to Swiatek’s dominant display against Karolina Pliskova as the defending champion sets up a fascinating third-round clash with rising star Alexandra Eala. We also ask whether her performance really deserved the A+ awarded by Martina Navratilova, or whether Swiatek’s own more modest B grade was closer to the mark. Elsewhere, Elena Rybakina, Amanda Anisimova and Madison Keys all continued their impressive progress into the third round.
On the ATP side, Matteo Berrettini continued his resurgence with a four-set win over Arthur Fils and even revealed to us why Wimbledon refused to let him wear a Hugo Boss walk-on suit. We also celebrate Arthur Fery’s breakthrough run, debate Learner Tien’s extraordinary post-match McDonald’s feast, discuss why Novak Djokovic finally got his Centre Court wish, and preview a blockbuster Day 5 featuring Aryna Sabalenka against Jelena Ostapenko, while wondering whether Serena and Venus Williams’ long-awaited doubles reunion will actually happen.

Thu, 02 Jul 2026 - 40min - 627 - Wimbledon Day 3 - Gauff survives final set tiebreak, Sinner improves + Djokovic masterclass!
Djokovic is firing, Sinner is cruising, and Wimbledon has already claimed another major casualty – Roland Garros champion Mirra Andreeva.
At Tennis Weekly HQ, we react to Novak Djokovic’s commanding victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas and ask what has happened to a rivalry that once produced two Grand Slam finals. We also break down Jannik Sinner’s clinical win over Nuno Borges as the seven-time champion and defending champion both booked their places in the third round. On the women’s side, Coco Gauff survived a gripping final-set tiebreak against Sloane Sierra, while former Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova stunned Andreeva in one of the matches of The Championships so far.
We also discuss the latest fallout from Serena Williams’ first-round defeat, with concerns growing over her knee ahead of a scheduled doubles reunion with sister Venus. Plus, Dan Evans brings the curtain down on his professional career in front of just a few hundred spectators on an outside court, Learner Tien’s bread-fuelled medical timeout has us scratching our heads, and we preview another packed day at SW19 featuring Iga Swiatek, Madison Keys and more as Round 2 draws to a close.

Wed, 01 Jul 2026 - 40min - 626 - Wimbledon Day 2 - Serena loses in singles comeback, Swiatek survives Townsend + Shelton upset
Serena’s back! The tennis legend made her long-awaited return to Wimbledon singles for the first time in four years, but her comeback ended in a gripping three seat defeat to Australian Maya Joint. We analyse Serena’s performance, discuss whether the wildcard was justified and ask what comes next as she turns her attention to doubles with sister Venus.
Elsewhere, defending champion Iga Swiatek survived a major first round scare against Taylor Townsend to keep her title defence alive at the first hurdle, whilst Ben Shelton became the biggest casualty of the tournament so far after blowing a match point against Finnish qualifier Otto Virtanen. We also react to Taylor Fritz’s headline-grabbing Roger Federer inspired Wimbledon walk-on outfit and celebrate finally some joy for the Brits headlined by Katie Swan’e emotional first Wimbledon singles win since 2018 and… Arthur Fery’s earplugs.
Plus, we look ahead to Day 3 where Novak Djokovic returns to face Stefanos Tsitsipas and current Roland Garros champion Mirra Andreeva faces off in an intriguing battle against former Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova.

Wed, 01 Jul 2026 - 44min - 625 - Wimbledon Day 1 - Sinner survives in 5, Djokovic under the lights + Coco gets a grass win!
It’s Day 1 of Wimbledon and what a day it was! Novak Djokovic won under the lights in a late finish and defending Champion Jannik Sinner was pushed to 5 sets by Miomir Kecmanović. Elsewhere for the top ladies seeds it was plain sailing with Sabalenka, Osaka, Pegula and Gauff easing into Round 2 in straight sets. For the Brits it was a day to forget as Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu withdrew from the tournament injured and 10 Brits lost in the worst day for 21 years at The Championships.
Joel and Chris also discuss the media boycott ending and how Jannik Sinner didn’t want to talk about it despite it being announced at the beginning of his press conference and prior to the world’s media. Another media day discussion that also made headlines was Serena Williams’ comments on drugs testing and quite a few inaccuracies in her statement that Chris fact-checks as well as previewing her return to singles after 4 years out of the game.

Fri, 26 Jun 2026 - 1h 01min - 622 - Serena Williams to play Wimbledon singles, Draper + Murray in action + Vondrousova ban!
The countdown to Wimbledon is well and truly on, and there is plenty to unpack from a dramatic week on the grass courts. We react to the stunning news that Serena Williams has been awarded a Wimbledon singles wildcard, discuss the mixed reaction to her return online, and debate who we would like her to face in a blockbuster first-round encounter (Osaka! Raducanu! Harmony Tan!).
On the ATP Tour, Francisco Cerundolo claimed the biggest title of his career at Queen’s Club, while Frances Tiafoe made history in Halle by becoming the first American champion in the tournament’s history. We also assess what their victories mean for the Wimbledon title race, and how likely could a first US men’s champion be since Andy Roddick at the 2003 US Open with Fritz, Shelton and Paul all in fine form.
Elsewhere, we discuss Jack Draper’s return to action with new coach Andy Murray by his side, Corentin Moutet’s expletive-laden controversial $40,000 fine at Queen’s, and the shocking four-year suspension handed to former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova. Did the punishments fit the crime? Plus, we preview the final week before SW19 with tournaments in Eastbourne, Bad Homburg and Mallorca.

The grass-court season is officially underway, and there is no shortage of talking points from a busy first week on the lawns. On the ATP Tour, Ben Shelton claimed the first grass-court title of his career in Stuttgart, while Kamil Majchrzak completed a remarkable week in ’s-Hertogenbosch, defeating three Top 10 players to secure his maiden ATP crown. We also tackle the wildcard debate, including Tatjana Maria’s route through qualifying and whether retiring Brit Dan Evans deserves a main-draw spot at SW19. The day has finally come after 3 years, 9 months and 7 days - Serena Williams has played a professional tennis match. We unpack the straight sets doubles victory for Serena and Mboko over the number three seeds and assess just how well Serena is playing. The serve was on fire and some of the best of Serena Williams of old was on display with a bit of rust at times but a statement victory was exactly what Serena needed as she returned to the tennis court aged 44.
Joel and Chris also react to the news of a potential Coco Gauff Berlin partnership and whether they can see Serena returning to the singles court of winning a title during the US Swing? Will Serena request a Wimbledon wild card and will The All England Club grant her one?

Mon, 08 Jun 2026 - 45min - 618 - Roland-Garros Day 15: Zverev finally gets a grand slam title!
Alexander Zverev is finally a Grand Slam champion! The whole gang is back at Tennis Weekly HQ to react to the German’s dramatic five-set victory over Flavio Cobolli in the 2026 Roland Garros final, as he captures his maiden major title at the fourth attempt and becomes the first German man to win a Grand Slam singles title since 1996. The team discuss where the match was won and lost, whether the pressure is now off Zverev heading into the rest of the season, and how this year’s French Open will be remembered after a fortnight packed with shocks, breakthrough stars and unexpected storylines. They also address the ‘anyone but Zverev’ chants and why Zverev might not be the most popular champion plus who their picks are for the next first-time Grand Slam champion.
Away from Paris, attention turns to the grass-court season as Serena Williams speaks publicly for the first time ahead of her highly anticipated return to professional tennis at Queen’s Club. Joel was on hand to breathe it all in - including her practice session with Victoria Mboko - to give the real verdict on how she is shaping up ahead of her return. Plus, the winner of the Tennis Weekly Roland Garros Collect A Set competition is revealed and we reflect on an unforgettable two weeks in Paris.

Sun, 07 Jun 2026 - 36min - 617 - Roland-Garros Day 14: Mirra Andreeva ends Chwalińska's dream run to win first grand slam title!
Mirra Andreeva has done it! She is now a grand slam champion, defeating Maja Chwalinska in the final to secure her maiden grand slam title. She becomes the youngest player since Monica Seles to win and the first teenager since Iga Swiatek in 2020.
She made it look easy on finals day against a tricky opponent coming through in straight sets 6-3 6-2 in just under an hour and a half. Chris and Kim reflect on the victory - how Andreeva has matured and how high she can go and whether she will win more slams this year.
They also talk about Maja Chwalinska's incredible run from qualifying all the way to the final in Paris winning 9 matches in a row before becoming unstuck by a world class opponent. They talk about what is in store for her - whether Wimbledon will grant her a wild card which would make her the first player in history to be both a wild card and seed a the championships and what she should do if she doesn't receive one.
They also unpack the doubles action as Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos defend their title in men’s doubles and in the wheelchairs Alfie Hewitt went down to Oda but won a 7th successive doubles title on the clay!

Sat, 06 Jun 2026 - 33min - 616 - Roland-Garros Day 13: Zverev to meet Cobolli in final after Arnaldi withdrawal
Alexander Zverev is through to the Roland Garros final and now stands just one win away from a maiden Grand Slam title. Joel and Chris react to the German’s four-set victory over Jakub Mensik, discussing the key moments that decided the match, whether Mensik’s incredible fortnight in Paris finally caught up with him, and what the result means for the Czech teenager’s future. The team also debate the role of mental coaching at the highest level after Andre Agassi questioned Mensik’s decision to bring his sports psychologist into camp for the semi-finals.
The biggest drama, however, came off court as Matteo Arnaldi was forced to withdraw from his maiden Grand Slam semi-final just hours before facing fellow Italian Flavio Cobolli due to a viral illness. The team assesses the impact of the late withdrawal, what it means for Cobolli’s remarkable run to the final, and preview Sunday's championship match - will Zverev finally get the job done? Plus, British wheelchair stars Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid claim a seventh Roland Garros doubles title, and the team look ahead to the women’s final between Mirra Andreeva and surprise finalist Maja Chwalinska.

The team break down both semi-finals, discuss how Andreeva turned the tables on Kostyuk after earlier defeats this season, whether Chwalinska will finally catch up with her in Paris after her *ninth* match in total and preview a fascinating championship match between two first-time Grand Slam finalists.
Away from the singles action, Serena Williams took to the practice court at Queen’s Club ahead of her much-anticipated return to professional tennis, while British hopes received a boost as Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara reached the French Open men’s doubles final without dropping a set. Tue, 26 May 2026 - 37min - 605 - Roland-Garros Day 2: Monfils and Wawrinka's last dance, Swiatek + Rybakina ease through
Day 2 at the 2026 Roland Garros delivered drama, emotion and unforgettable farewells as Paris said goodbye to two tennis icons — Gael Monfils and 2015 champion Stan Wawrinka. Joel and Kim reflect on their incredible legacies at Roland Garros, debate whether Monfils should continue playing through the rest of the season, and revisit one of tennis’ most iconic fashion moments: the legendary “Stan’s shorts.”
There was no shortage of chaos on court either, as Casper Ruud survived one of the wildest matches of the tournament so far against Roman Safiullin, battling heatstroke, a fifth-set collapse and a surprising medical timeout from the Russian that completely shifted the momentum. Joel still can’t believe what unfolded. On the women’s side, Elina Svitolina escaped a huge first-round scare against Anna Bondar, Katie Boulter battled through to Round 2, while Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina eased confidently into the next round.

Joel and Chris also dive into the player-led media boycott spearheaded by world number one Aryna Sabalenka, highlighting growing tensions over prize money distribution and player welfare at the Slams. There was also deja vu for Taylor Fritz who was dumped out of Round 1 again, Frenchman Arthur Gea requested a very unscheduled toilet break and we are in dismay about how we end up with Hailey Baptiste vs Barbora Krejcikova in Round 1 of a Grand Slam.

Sun, 24 May 2026 - 35min - 603 - Roland-Garros Draw Reaction! Djokovic avoids Sinner + can Gauff defend her title?
Roland Garros draw day has arrived at Tennis Weekly HQ, and Joel, Kim and Chris are here to break down the 2026 French Open singles draws quarter by quarter with predictions, picks and some truly questionable calls for Paris. In the men’s draw, Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner - to pretty much everyone’s relief in the absence of Carlos Alcaraz - landed in opposite halves, sparking debate over whether anyone can stand in Sinner’s way in his pursuit of a Career Grand Slam and if this year’s Roland Garros represents Djokovic’s best opportunity to claim a record 25th Grand Slam title. The trio also discuss why it could be Casper Ruud’s time again for another Grand Slam final and why it just doesn’t feel right having Felix Auger-Aliassime as the fourth seed at a major.
On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff headline the same half, while Iga Swiatek faces a nightmare route to another French Open crown including a potential battle with Latvian H2H nemesis Jelena Ostapenko. There’s also discussion on how much we can really expect from Emma Raducanu, Naomi Osaka’s tricky opener against Laura Siegemund, and Chris reports live from Paris with behind-the-scenes draw reaction including new pastry snacks. Plus, we unveil our Collect a Set player picks - Djokovic, Monfils, Jodar, Svitolina, Gauff and Andreeva - tell us how far you think they’ll go and enter before play begins on Sunday for a chance to win a Tennis Weekly mug!

Thu, 21 May 2026 - 1h 02min - 602 - BREAKING NEWS: Alcaraz to miss Wimbledon as well as Roland-Garros!
Carlos Alcaraz’s 2026 season has taken a dramatic turn with the two-time Wimbledon champion and reigning Australian Open winner having officially withdrawn from both Queen’s and Wimbledon as he continues to recover from a persistent right wrist injury. At just 23, Alcaraz has already built one of the most remarkable résumés in modern tennis, but this setback raises serious questions about how cautious he must be to protect what could still be a very long and successful career. In this episode, we break down the impact of Alcaraz’s absence on the Wimbledon draw at Tennis Weekly HQ, the growing dominance of world number one Jannik Sinner and whether we can truly call the ATP Tour ‘boring’ right now, and what this means for contenders like Novak Djokovic in his continuing quest for Grand Slam 25. We also discuss the challenges of a two-player rivalry dynamic compared to the era of the Big 3.

Tue, 19 May 2026 - 25min - 601 - Sinner completes 'Golden Masters', Svitolina wins in Rome + Raducanu rehires US Open coach!
SINsational! At the Italian Open in Rome, Jannik Sinner made tennis history by completing the Career Golden Masters, becoming just the second man after Novak Djokovic to win all nine ATP Masters 1000 titles. Even more remarkably, the world No. 1 has now won six Masters 1000 titles in a row and swept Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome in the same clay season. Tennis Weekly HQ asks is men’s tennis becoming a bit too predictable at the top? And heading into the French Open, is Sinner’s greatest challenge himself?
On the women’s side, Elina Svitolina delivered one of the most impressive title runs of the season to capture her third Rome crown and 20th career WTA title. The Ukrainian defeated Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina and Coco Gauff in consecutive matches to put herself in the big mix as a genuine Roland Garros contender. Can Svitolina finally reach her first Grand Slam final, and what has she brought to her game that could propel her all the way?
Elsewhere, we discuss Emma Raducanu’s reunion with Andrew Richardson, the coach who guided her to her 2021 US Open triumph, as they begin a full-time partnership ahead of Strasbourg and the British grass court season. We also unveil our French Open clay-court power rankings, talk about how not to enter court featuring Luciano Darderi and preview the final round of tournaments before Paris in Strasbourg, Geneva, Hamburg and Rabat.

Breaking news! We’re back at Tennis Weekly HQ to react to the exciting announcement that Andy Murray has joined Jack Draper’s coaching team for the upcoming grass-court season through Wimbledon. In his first coaching role since working with Novak Djokovic, Murray steps in after Draper’s surprise split with Jamie Delgado after just six months together.
We discuss why this feels like a natural partnership between two of Britain’s biggest tennis stars, and whether Murray’s unrivalled experience on grass — including two Wimbledon titles and years at the very top of the sport — can help Draper get his career back on track after yet another injury setback.
We also consider the risks. Murray’s coaching debut with Djokovic offered valuable lessons but ultimately produced mixed results, and with Delgado no longer in the picture, there will be significant pressure on Sir Andy to make an immediate impact. Finally, we debate whether close friendships can successfully transition into player-coach partnerships, and whether this could be the start of a long-term collaboration or simply a fascinating summer experiment. Come on!

Tue, 12 May 2026 - 19min - 599 - Sinner chases records in Rome, Gauff saves a MP + will there be a grand slam boycott?
Clay-court chaos reigns in Rome as Tennis Weekly returns with Joel and Chris to unpack a dramatic first week at the Italian Open, where a string of shock exits has raised even more questions (and provided few answers) ahead of Roland Garros. While Jannik Sinner continues to cruise in his bid to complete the Career Golden Masters and claim all nine ATP Masters 1000 titles, Novak Djokovic’s long-awaited return ended abruptly with a surprise opening-match defeat to rising Croatian Dino Prizmic. On the WTA side, world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka suffered her second loss in three matches after letting a dominant position slip against veteran Sorana Cirstea. Can we still consider Sabalenka a clear favourite for the French Open?
Elsewhere, we examine the growing threat of a potential Grand Slam boycott over prize money and debate just how realistic such action would be, including whether tennis can truly be compared to leagues like the NBA and MLB. We also assess the struggles and what’s actually going wrong with the ATP Tour’s chasing pack behind Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, with several top seeds falling early in both Madrid and Rome. Plus, Holger Rune delays his comeback until the grass-court season (phew!), Venus and Serena Williams turn heads at the Met Gala, and Taylor Fritz embraces single life with a trip to a Renaissance Fair.

Mon, 11 May 2026 - 1h 08min - 598 - Sinner breaks Masters 1000 record, Kostyuk downs Andreeva + Djokovic returns in Rome!
Jannik Sinner and Marta Kostyuk have been crowned champions in Madrid and there’s plenty to unpack. Join Joel and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as they break down Sinner’s absurd run to a fifth straight Masters title with yet another mauling of Alexander Zverev (seriously… who is stopping him right now?), while Kostyuk quite literally flips her way into the spotlight with a maiden WTA 1000 crown and red-hot clay form off the back of her title in Rouen. With Aryna Sabalenka crashing out to a magical Hailey Baptiste performance - saving six match points on the way to a stunning upset — is this year’s French Open suddenly a lot more wide open than it seems?
Elsewhere, there’s chat about Emma Raducanu finally reuniting with her US Open-winning coach Andrew Richardson. And we reflect on Kei Nishikori's announcement that he will be retiring at the end of the season - where does he rank in terms of greatest players never to win a Grand Slam? Plus, with Rome around the corner, we take a look at the Italian Open draws and ponder is this the moment that Jannik Sinner completes the Masters set and is a fit again Novak Djokovic the only one who could potentially stop the Sinner show rolling on?

Mon, 04 May 2026 - 58min - 597 - Alcaraz to miss French Open, Sabalenka ousts Osaka + Gauff & Swiatek fall sick in Madrid
Halfway through the Madrid Open and the biggest story isn’t even in Spain — Carlos Alcaraz is out of Roland Garros with a wrist injury. Joel and Chris get stuck into what it means, from the biggest winners and losers to whether Jannik Sinner’s path to a Career Slam just got a little smoother.
In Madrid, it’s been less clay-court season, more survival mode. A mystery “Madrid lurgy” has taken hold, with Iga Swiatek forced into just her second career retirement and Coco Gauff also struggling on court. Thankfully, Aryna Sabalenka and Naomi Osaka delivered a match of the year contender and sparked the question: is “Claysaka” officially back?
Off court, there’s plenty of drama too. WTA CEO Portia Archer’s sudden exit raises eyebrows, while Italy continues its tennis takeover with the Next Gen Finals heading there. Is it the Sinner effect or is there something more to it? Plus, we react to Taylor Fritz and Morgan Riddle’s split, Camila Giorgi’s return announcement from the wilderness, and ask the big question on everyone’s lips - is it finally time for Venus Williams to hang up her racket?

Mon, 27 Apr 2026 - 1h 08min - 596 - Alcaraz injury puts French Open in doubt, Rybakina's wins 2nd Porsche + Shelton's clay victory
The clay season continues and it was titles for Rybakina, Fils and Shelton on the tour but the headlines were dominated by Carlos Alcaraz when he withdrew from Barcelona after his first match with a wrist injury. Since then Alcaraz has been spotted wearing a wrist cast at the Laureus World Sports Awards and his participation at Roland-Garros has been thrown into question given the nature of his injury.
Elsewhere Jannik Sinner attempts to make history by winning 5 Masters titles on the trot and 4 in a row to open a season as the World No.1 looks to capitalise on the abscence of Alcaraz and Djokovic in Madrid. Returning to competition in Madrid is Aryna Sabalenka who has a battle for No.1 after Rybakina won her 2nd Stuttgart crown and drove away with another Porsche.
Chris and Kim also discuss the controversial circumstances around former Wimbledon Champion Markéta Vondroušová's doping charges for refusing a test in December last year and try to make sense as to why a player with so much experience of being tested would not be aware of the rules or the consequences of refusing a test.
They also celebrate Amelie Mauresmo announcing that Roland-Garros will not be having cameras behind the scenes after the fallout from the Australia Open and Coco Gauff's racket smashing incident and as always end with predictions as to what will go down when the tour reaches Madrid.

Mon, 20 Apr 2026 - 1h 05min - 595 - Sinner beats Alcaraz to reclaim No. 1 ranking, Andreeva wins 5th title + Medvedev meltdown
It finally happened... Sinner vs Alcaraz match one for 2026—and it did not disappoint (well… maybe a little, thanks to the Monte Carlo wind). Join Joel, Kim and Chris as they break down Jannik Sinner’s statement win to reclaim World No. 1 and ask why we aren’t seeing the best from Carlos Alcaraz at the moment and is Jannik Sinner the true World No. 1 despite having an inferior Grand Slam record to Carlitos.
Elsewhere, we’ve got chaos, comebacks and a few raised eyebrows—Matteo Berrettini hands Daniil Medvedev (RIP Clayvedev) a brutal double bagel that no one saw coming, Mirra Andreeva bags another title in Linz, and Great Britain stun Australia in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers. Plus, Holger Rune’s comeback plans are picking up pace… but is it all happening a bit too soon? The gang are already a little worried. We also look ahead to a packed week on the clay with Barcelona, Munich and Stuttgart underway with Iga Swiatek debuting her new coaching era with Francisco Roig.Oh, and Andy Murray + roast potatoes…

Mon, 13 Apr 2026 - 1h 09min - 594 - Swiatek gets Nadal masterclass, Pegula defends Charleston + Paul wins 1st clay title
Clay season is officially underway and we’re back at Tennis Weekly HQ to roundup week one as we start to look forward with Roland Garros on the horizon. This week, we ask ourselves is Jessica Pegula the best player on the WTA Tour currently not named Elena Rybakina or Aryna Sabalenka after she defended her Charleston title and speculate on what tips did Iga Swiatek receive from her idol Rafael Nadal as they were spotted linking up on the court in Spain. Joel and Kim also debate the anatomy of a coaching break up with the news that Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard was only informed by his agent that Swiatek's new coach Francisco Roig had ditched him for the Polish former World No. 1.
On the ATP side, there’s plenty to get stuck into as Tommy Paul grabs his first clay title, rising Spanish star Rafael Jodar making waves with his massive forehand in Marrakech, and we dive into the news that the WTA Tour Finals are set to leave Riyadh after 2026 with Gdansk and Charlotte in the United States on the shortlist. Plus, we announce the winner of our Babolat giveaway and of course take a look ahead to Monte Carlo where Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner lead the charge which once again leads us to debate - are we *finally* going to get our first Sincaraz matchup this season??

Mon, 06 Apr 2026 - 57min - 593 - Sinner and Sabalenka win historic 'Sunshine Double' + CLAY season predictions!
Sunshine Doubles all round! Join Joel, Kim and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as they break down a historic sweep from Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka—becoming the first duo since Djokovic and Azarenka to complete the Indian Wells–Miami double in the same season. We dig into Sinner’s ruthless run—three straight Masters titles without dropping a set—and what it means for the World No.1 race and the looming clay swing, with Alcaraz defending big points. On the women’s side, we explore Sabalenka’s relentless consistency, does she actually have any challengers, and whether she can finally turn dominance into Grand Slam glory at Roland Garros. Plus we make our own 2026 clay-court predictions - dark horses, French Open picks, and who claims the men’s World No. 1 spot by grass season - Sinner or Alcaraz? And finally at HQ, we argue over what we think is tougher - the Sunshine Double or a Slam - and tie up a loosed end from last week: Dominic Thiem’s mystery Monday announcement…

Mon, 30 Mar 2026 - 1h 18min - 592 - Alcaraz upset in Miami, Swiatek splits with coach + Sinner and Sabalenka on for Double
The Miami Open has hit the midway stage—and it’s already delivered a wave of shock exits, with Carlos Alcaraz, Jack Draper and Iga Świątek all crashing out early. We break down Alcaraz’s surprise loss to Sebastian Korda and ask: should there be concern heading into the clay swing? Fresh off a strong Indian Wells run—including a win over Novak Djokovic—Draper’s momentum stalled as his struggles against big servers continued in defeat to Reilly Opelka.
Meanwhile, Świątek’s early exit was quickly followed by a split from coach Wim Fissette, despite their Wimbledon Championships success last year. We dive into what went wrong and who could be next. Juan Carlos Ferrero, anyone? Plus, we react to Wimbledon’s introduction of video reviews, debate a potential WTA Next Gen Finals, and look ahead to week two in Miami. Is the Sunshine Double still on for Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka? We think so!

Mon, 23 Mar 2026 - 1h 01min - 591 - Sinner back to winning, Alcaraz streak ended + is Sunshine Double on for Sabalenka?
Indian Wells absolutely DELIVERED. In Tennis Paradise, both finals provided thrilling conclusions with Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka lifting their first-ever titles out in the desert after two blockbuster championship matches. Jannik Sinner continued his incredible hard-court dominance with another flawless, no sets dropped run after his triumph at the Paris Masters, defeating a resurgent Daniil Medvedev in a tense final decided by two tie-breaks. The victory makes Sinner the youngest player ever to complete the set of major hard-court titles — a huge milestone in his career. But while Sinner keeps raising the bar, Medvedev’s run back to the Top 10 has us asking: is he currently the best player outside of Sincaraz, and could he be a genuine Grand Slam contender again? And as the wait for a Sincaraz final this season continues, we also dive into the electric Djokovic vs Draper clash — a match we’re already calling a contender for match of the season — and debate whether that controversial hindrance call against Draper vs. Medvedev was really necessary. We’re still divided on it!
On the WTA side, Aryna Sabalenka finally turned the tables on Elena Rybakina in a dramatic final, saving a championship point to snap her recent losing streak against the Kazakh and claim the Indian Wells crown. We discuss the Sabalenka-Rybakina rivalry and whether we think it will be the one to define women’s tour in 2026. Plus, Par for the Court returns and we look ahead to the Miami Open where Novak Djokovic and Emma Raducanu have dropped out with some bold predictions — Sunshine Double for Sinner and Sabalenka anyone?

Mon, 16 Mar 2026 - 1h 03min - 590 - Alcaraz still undefeated, Sinner vs Fonseca + Sabalenka supports best of 5 sets!
We’re hitting the halfway mark at Indian Wells in Palm Springs, and there’s already plenty of action to unpack as the tournament heads into a fascinating Round 4. At the top of the bill is a blockbuster first-ever meeting between Jannik Sinner and Brazil’s teenage sensation João Fonseca, who appears to have rediscovered his mojo out in the desert. We’ll also debate whether Learner Tien might be staking a claim as the top American right now after an eye-catching win over Ben Shelton. Elsewhere on the men’s side, Novak Djokovic unveiled a mysterious new sleeve — reportedly using infrared healing technology — while Carlos Alcaraz debuted some fresh kit.
On the WTA side, Aryna Sabalenka and Naomi Osaka are set to face off for the first time since the 2018 US Open in what Sabalenka has jokingly dubbed a potential “fashion show”. Emma Raducanu’s tough loss to Amanda Anisimova in just over fifty minutes also gives us plenty to dig into. And away from the court, there’s no shortage of talking points: eye-watering drink prices at Indian Wells (yes, we’re talking $43 Aperol spritzes), fan frustration over a controversial change to ground-pass ticket policies, and Sabalenka’s spicy claim that she might have even more Grand Slam titles if women played best-of-five sets.

Mon, 09 Mar 2026 - 54min - 589 - Medvedev wins Dubai, Raducanu's new sponsor + Indian Wells Draw Reaction!
A dramatic week on the ATP and WTA tours, with events in the Middle East casting a shadow over the tennis world and leaving players stranded across the region. From Tennis Weekly HQ, Joel, Kim and Chris unpack what it means for the sport (and the schedule) — and ask the bigger question: in the grand scheme of things, does tennis even matter? On court, it’s full steam ahead to Indian Wells as we dive into the men’s and women’s draws, lock in our champion predictions, tip our dark horses (yes, Marin Cilic gets a mention), and boldly flag the early exits — including a certain prediction involving Iga Swiatek and Maria Sakkari that may age horribly.
We also debate Emma Raducanu’s reunion with Mark Petchey — smart reset or a backwards step, as Tim Henman suggests? — and analyse Carlos Alcaraz’s surprise mullet era, because no big tournament is complete without a bold new barnet. Plus, Laureus Awards chatter as Sinner, Alcaraz and Sabalenka headline the nominations for tennis, but Joao Fonseca’s Breakthrough nod raises eyebrows at HQ. And we round up the week’s champions: Medvedev in Dubai, Cobolli in Acapulco, Bucsa’s double delight in Merida — and yes, Kim’s Mastermind appearance (spoiler alert: her specialist subject was not Rafael Nadal!).

Wed, 04 Mar 2026 - 1h 11min - 587 - Alcaraz undefeated, Sinner's struggles continue, Pegula wins in Dubai + Serena update!
The unbeaten streak rolls on! It’s been another action-packed week across the ATP and WTA Tours, so join Joel, Kim and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as they break down all the biggest stories from around the tennis world. Carlos Alcaraz continues his sensational start to the 2026 season, delivering a ruthless performance in yet another final to extend his undefeated run — leaving us all asking the same question: just how long can he stay unbeaten? And more importantly… is there anyone capable of stopping him?! It was a tougher week for Jannik Sinner, stunned by rising star and Miami Open champion Jakub Mensik. Joel asks whether Mensik could be the man ready to disrupt the emerging Sincaraz dominance — alongside the ever-present Novak Djokovic — at the very top of the men’s game. Elsewhere, there were title celebrations for Tomas Etcheverry in Rio and Sebi Korda at Del Ray Beach.
Over on the WTA Tour, Jessica Pegula powered her way to a fourth WTA 1000 title in Dubai, spearheading an impressive American showing in the desert — despite the absence of several big names. We also dive into the growing speculation surrounding Emma Raducanu’s potential sponsorship switch from Nike to Uniqlo, and wonder whether tournaments in Acapulco and Mérida should proceed amid ongoing cartel violence in Mexico. Plus, we look ahead to the week’s action as Jack Draper makes his long-awaited return to the tour in Dubai, while Venus Williams steps back onto court in Austin fresh from receiving a pair of Indian Wells wildcards.

Mon, 23 Feb 2026 - 1h 10min - 586 - Shelton saves 3 championship points, 3rd time lucky for de Minaur + Muchova magic in Doha
Ben Shelton saved championship points in a full-throttle all-American showdown against Taylor Fritz in Dallas whilst Alex de Minaur triumphed at the third time of asking in Rotterdam. The trio ask each other whether they are Team Fritz or Team Shelton and is de Minaur the tour’s most consistent player outside Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. Elsewhere, we get excited about Jack Pinnington Jones’ breakthrough ATP run, Daniil Medvedev’s latest tirade saying the tennis balls aren’t round (classic!) and rumours of David Nalbandian joining Grigor Dimitrov’s coaching team. Just don’t talk to us about Jack Draper’s new haircut…
On the WTA tour it was Karolina Muchova magic in the Middle East! It’s been a captivating week on the ATP and WTA Tours with epic finals, teenage sensations… and dodgy barnets. Join Joel, Kim and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as they dig into Doha where Karolina Muchova *finally* ended her seven-year title drought against teenage sensation Victoria Mboko who is now into the Top 10. The gang debate has she stolen the top teen title away from Mirra Andreeva? And can Karolina Muchova make good on her talent and win a Grand Slam title?

Mon, 16 Feb 2026 - 1h 07min - 585 - Draper returns, Raducanu makes first final since US Open + Sinner at the Winter Olympics!
Moving on from Melbourne! Back on the circuit and it was a bumper week for British tennis as Jack Draper made his long-awaited return to help Great Britain dominate Norway in the Davis Cup Qualifiers. Chris exclusively spoke to Jack ahead of the tie on his comeback. Meanwhile, Emma Raducanu reached her first WTA final since her historic US Open 2021 victory (have we really had to wait that long?!) and Katie Boulter lifted the Ostrava title with Joel wondering if she can reclaim her British No. 1 ranking this season.
Elsewhere we discuss Felix Auger-Aliassime putting a shock Australian Open exit behind him to defend his Montpellier crown, Czech rising star Sara Bejlek shocking the field in Abu Dhabi, and look forward to the first WTA 1000 event of the season in Doha where defending champion Amanda Anisimova is already out. Plus, we talk about Jannik Sinner becoming a ticket inspector at the Winter Olympics, debate which tennis players would dominate what snow sports and how comfortable we feel with Serena Williams weight loss advert that aired at the Super Bowl.

Mon, 09 Feb 2026 - 1h 13min - 584 - Australian Open Wrap-up - Fashion Moments, Racket Smashing, Cheddar Apple Pie + TW Awards
The Australian Open 2026 is done and dusted, so it’s time for our Tennis Weekly Australian Open Wrap Up Show. After two weeks of daily pods, early mornings and late nights, Joel, Kim and Chris sit down to relive the tournament in all its glory — the good, the bad and the downright bizarre.
We look back on Melbourne through our patented Peak, Pit & Pleasant Surprise scorecard, debating everything from Rafa watching Carlos complete the set, to crowd controversies, fashion moments, and why lights on the net were actually… kind of brilliant? We hand out our picks for best match, biggest upset, biggest surprise and one to watch across both the men’s and women’s draws — with plenty of disagreement along the way.
There’s also a full prediction post-mortem. Who nailed their Australian Open champion picks? Who absolutely did not? From Alcaraz and Rybakina lifting trophies to bold calls involving Bublik, Jovic and Medvedev (honestly, what were Joel and Kim thinking), nothing is swept under the carpet including the ceremonious dishing out of the Slam of Spoon of Shame.

Mon, 02 Feb 2026 - 41min - 583 - Australian Open Day 15 - Carlos Alcaraz completes the Career Grand Slam at 22!
And that’s a wrap on Melbourne! Carlos Alcaraz is your Australian Open champion who becomes the youngest men’s player ever to complete the Career Grand Slam. In doing so, he handed Novak Djokovic his first-ever defeat in an Australian Open final, snapping the Serb’s perfect 10–0 record on Rod Laver Arena and sending the wait for Grand Slam title number 25 on.
We break down exactly how Alcaraz turned the match after a nervy start, why that pivotal 4–4 game in the fourth set changed everything, and what truly separates Carlos from Jannik Sinner when facing Djokovic on the biggest stages. And yes, we tackle the elephant in the room — what does King Carlos’s win mean for his relationship with former coach Juan Carlos Ferrero…
For Djokovic, it was a sobering comedown after a blockbuster semi-final win over Sinner. Was this his last genuine shot at Slam 25? And will we see him back at Melbourne Park next year? Plus, Chris gives his verdict on the women’s final, we go full Rafa-watch as Nadal looks on from the stands, and we reveal the winner of our exclusive Australian Open competition.

Sun, 01 Feb 2026 - 46min - 582 - Australian Open Day 14 - Elena Rybakina comes back to defeat Sabalenka for first AO crown
Elena Rybakina has won the Australian Open! It looked like it was heading for a repeat of the 2023 Final where Sabalenka came back to win in three sets but Rybakina had a comeback of her own from 3-0 down in the Final set, storming back to close out the match 6-4 4-6 6-4. It was a long wait for a second major for Rybakina who triumphed at Wimbledon in 2022 but has had ups and downs professionally and personally but managed to set all of that aside to win in Melbourne. She moves up to number three in the ranking and adds the trophy to her recently won WTA Finals title to establish herself as the form player on the WTA Tour.
Joel and Kim ask how high can Rybakina go and question why Sabalenka isn’t able to close out major finals despite being the dominant force on the tour. Sabalenka is now 4-4 in grand slam finals and has won just 1 of her last 4 since her 2024 US Open triumph. They also announce the winner of collect a set and who is taking home the official AO cap and they wrap-up the doubles where Zhang and Mertens and Harrison and Skupski came out on top.
They also make their last observations ahead of the Men’s Finals the day after the semi-final epics in Melbourne Park.

Sat, 31 Jan 2026 - 40min - 581 - Australian Open Day 13 - Djokovic defeats Sinner in 5 sets to set up historic Alcaraz Final
What did we just witness?! Australian Open Day 13 delivered with aplomb so we had no choice but to all jump on the mics together at Tennis Weekly HQ and get our heads around the absolute treat that was the men’s semifinals action. Novak Djokovic rolled back the years in one of his all-time great Australian Open performances, outlasting Jannik Sinner in a five-set epic to move one win away from a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title. At 38 years old, Novak went full Houdini on Rod Laver Arena, saving break point after break point after break point. Is this one of the greatest wins of his career? And what does this say about the Alcaraz-Sinner era when a 38 year old can defeat them?
Carlos Alcaraz also survived a brutal 5 hour 27 minute marathon against Alexander Zverev to reach his first Australian Open final, in the longest men’s semi-final in tournament history (who remembers that match between Nadal vs Verdasco?). Cramp, controversy, medical timeouts, blown chances and unreal mentality. Did Zverev choke it or did Alcaraz win it? And should cramp ever equal an MTO? We also look ahead to a blockbuster Australian Open final: Djokovic vs Alcaraz. Slam 25 or a historic career Grand Slam at 22. Goosebumps already.

Fri, 30 Jan 2026 - 47min - 580 - Australian Open Day 12 - Sabalenka to face Rybakina in Final + Men's Semifinals Preview
We have our ladies finalists! Australian Open Day 12 did not come to play – and neither did we. In this episode, Joel and Chris break down all the drama from Melbourne as Aryna Sabalenka bulldozes her way into a fourth straight Australian Open final, doing it the scary way: without dropping a set and with plenty of spice along the way (yes, we’re talking that hindrance call). We also dive into Elena Rybakina’s ice-cold win over Jessica Pegula, saving set points, firing aces when it mattered, and booking a blockbuster AO final rematch with Sabalenka. Joel and Chris hope that maybe we will get a ladies match that goes the distance in the business end of the tournament which has been strangely lacking.
Elsewhere, we preview the men’s semi-finals with Djokovic, Sinner, Alcaraz and Zverev all lining up, ask whether anyone can actually stop Carlos, and look at how much Zverev’s serve decides his fate. Plus, all the latest from the doubles and mixed doubles finals and a quick detour across to America as the Serena Williams ‘will she, won’t she’ comeback takes on another development…

Thu, 29 Jan 2026 - 41min - 579 - Australian Open Day 11 - Djokovic handed AO lifeline + Women's Semifinal Preview!
Another day, another very eventful 24 hours at the Australian Open, and Joel and Chris are back at Tennis Weekly HQ to unpack it all as the semi-final line-ups are all locked in. We dive into Novak Djokovic’s latest Houdini act after Lorenzo Musetti was forced to retire despite leading by two sets, handing Novak yet another date with destiny — and Jannik Sinner. The Italian barely broke a sweat against Ben Shelton, cruising into another Australian Open semi and extending a frankly brutal head-to-head. Is Shelton running out of answers against the very elite, and is this era already beginning to define him?
On the women’s side, Elena Rybakina laid down a serious marker by dismantling Iga Swiatek to set up a semi-final showdown with Jessica Pegula. We debate whether Iga has a genuine Rybakina problem, or if the rest of the field is simply catching up — and then get into Swiatek, Coco Gauff and Pegula speaking out about behind-the-scenes cameras and life “in the zoo” at Melbourne Park. Plus, we announce our Australian Open competition to win an official Australian Open towel and tennis ball, and look ahead to ladies’ semi-finals day with some fresh (and possibly questionable) predictions.

Wed, 28 Jan 2026 - 43min - 578 - Australian Open Day 10 - Alcaraz makes first AO semifinal, Svitolina to face Sabalenka
It was a big day for Carlos Alcaraz and Elina Svitolina in Melbourne where both made their first ever Australian Open semifinals. Alcaraz produced a dominant display to defeat home hope Alex de Minaur in straight sets as Svitolina upset No.3 seed Coco Gauff in just 59 minutes. Alcaraz is still on track to become the youngest man to complete the career grand slam should he win on Sunday and based on his form his semifinal opponent Alexander Zverev will have to produce the performance of a lifetime to prevent the Spaniard from making another grand slam final. Zverev won his semifinal mainly thanks to his impeccable service display hitting 24 aces and 1 double fault to down next gen player Learner Tien in 4 sets. Svitolina will go on to face Sabalenka who dismantled 18 year old Iva Jovic in straight sets in sweltering conditions in Melbourne. Sabalenka has now made the semis or better at the last 8 grand slams and 14 of the last 17.
Chris and Kim also talk tennis’ bad boy Nick Kyrgios who was spotted partying on two consecutive nights before his AO Mixed Doubles Round 2 loss with Leylah Fernandez. They question if it is time for Tennis Australia’s support of Nick to stop after such a display. Also up for discussion is player privacy after Coco Gauff was filmed smashing a racket after her semifinal loss and made it clear she felt there was not somewhere private apart from the locker room for the players to go.
Finally they give a collect-a-set update where three players are still in the running to win the official AO cap thanks to our sponsor AO Travel & Experiences.

Tue, 27 Jan 2026 - 44min - 577 - Australian Open Day 9 - Sinner back on track, Anisimova through + Swiatek scheduling!
Australian Open 2026 rolls on and Tennis Weekly is back with Joel and Chris for your Day 9 recap. On the men’s side, Jannik Sinner delivered a serving masterclass in Melbourne, firing 19 aces and reminding everyone why he’s the man to beat as he sets up a mouth-watering Australian Open quarterfinal against Ben Shelton. Can Shelton’s crowd-surfing energy and net-rushing chaos trouble the ice-cold Italian? Lorenzo Musetti also cruised past Taylor Fritz in straight sets to complete a full set of Grand Slam quarterfinals. Is he cementing himself as a bonafide Top 5 player on the tour? We’re asking the question — and previewing what awaits against a well-rested Novak Djokovic (just don’t look at H2H Musetti fans).
Over on the women’s draw, Iga Swiatek makes light work of Maddison Inglis… but not without sparking a full-blown scheduling debate behind the scenes as her day match request was denied. We ask the question - should players be able to dictate when they play? We also look ahead to Iga Swiatek vs Elena Rybakina in one of the standout quarterfinals of Australian Open 2026. Plus: Jessica Pegula knocks out defending champion Madison Keys (and wins an apple pie with cheddar bet), Juan Carlos Ferrero takes up golf coaching (because why not), and we preview a brutally hot Day 10 in Melbourne.

Mon, 26 Jan 2026 - 49min - 576 - Australian Open Day 8 - Alcaraz sets up de Minaur showdown as Gauff + Sabalenka progress
We are getting to the business end of the Australian Open and Day 8 brought statement wins for the top Men’s seeds with Alcaraz, Zverev and de Minaur winning in emphatic style. Particularly impressive was home hope Alex de Minaur who took out his Roland-Garros conqueror Alexander Bublik in style, winning emphatically 6-4 6-1 6-1. The big question on Australia’s lips is can he do the impossible and take out World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals to make his first slam semi. Also causing a shock in a rematch from last year was Next Gen favourite Learner Tien who bageled Daniil Medvedev as he made it to his first quarter-final and as the youngest since 2015 to do it at Melbourne Park..
On the women’s side Coco Gauff rallied past tricky customer Karolina Muchova to make another quarterfinal in Australia where she will face off against veteran of the game Elina Svitolina who got the better of Mirra Andreeva in the night session, Svitolina has gone 9-0 in 2026 after ending her season following her first round defeat at the US Open last year. In the first match on Rod Laver, Sabalenka won her 20th consecutive tiebreak at grand slam level to oust teenage sensation Mboko but will have to do it again when she takes on another teen sensation Iva Jovic in the last 8.
The team are also joined by their by David MacCallum, Director & General Manager of STH Group, the company responsible for all things AO Travel and Experiences. He joins the pod to tell Chris and our listeners more about their exciting offering and how you can secure the best AO Experience for 2027.

Sun, 25 Jan 2026 - 1h 02min - 575 - Australian Open Day 7 - Sinner 'saved' by heat rule as Swiatek moves into second week
It was a scorcher in Melbourne and Tennis Weekly is back to break down one of the most dramatic days of the Australian Open so far. From heat rules and lucky escapes to shock withdrawals and eyebrow-raising scheduling decisions, there was much to discuss for Joel and Chris.
On the men’s side, Jannik Sinner flirted with disaster as cramping threatened to derail his campaign, before the heat rule – and a timely roof closure – gave him a lifeline. Wimbledon déjà vu, anyone? Novak Djokovic hit a major milestone with his 400th Grand Slam win, but not without controversy, as another reckless ball strike narrowly missed a ball kid. We also say goodbye to Stan Wawrinka at Melbourne Park and ask the big question: are we all seriously underestimating Ben Shelton’s decent form?
Over on the women’s draw, Iga Swiatek survived a wild, three-breadstick rollercoaster. Naomi Osaka’s injury withdrawal sends shockwaves, while the awkward Madison Keys vs Jessica Pegula clash comes with an apple pie and cheese forfeit twist with Joel and Chris debating just exactly would it taste any good?!. Plus, we preview Day 8 and question why Sabalenka vs Mboko isn’t under the lights on Rod Laver Arena.

Sat, 24 Jan 2026 - 44min - 574 - Australian Open Day 6 - Alcaraz exhibition on Rod Laver as Gauff and Sabalenka survive
Day 6 in Melbourne didn’t disappoint with Carlos Alcaraz entertaining the crowds with magician in the making Coretin Moutet and Daniil Medvedev becoming the first player this year to win from 2 sets to 0 down to set up a mouthwatering rematch against his 2025 conqueror Learner Tien. Aussie home hope Alex de Minaur continued to impress as he took out Frances Tiafoe in the night session but will face a tougher test against in the battle of the Alexanders when he plays Bublik in Round 4.
On the women’s side Iva Jovic got the biggest win of her career when she took out Jasmine Paolini to make her first fourth round and fellow teenagers Mirra Andreeva and Victoria Mboko will join her in the second week in Melbourne. Trying to stop the rise of the teenager will be Aryan Sabalenka who faces Mboko in a mouthwatering clash of experience vs youth. She had a tough time against Potopova but survived in two tight tiebreak sets to progress. Also less than convincing was Coco Gauff who rallied to defeat countrywoman Hailey Baptiste in three sets.
Also on the discussion table are the soaring temperatures expected in Australia on Saturday and the change in schedule to move matches forward. Joel and Chris discuss if this is the right move and if it is fair for all the players…

Fri, 23 Jan 2026 - 44min - 573 - Australian Open Day 5 - Sinner and Djokovic ease through + Swiatek hinderance debate
Day 5 at the Australian Open delivered straight-set statements, veteran brilliance, and just a touch of chaos courtesy of Iga Swiatek so join Joel and Kim at Tennis Weekly HQ to break it all down.
On the men’s side, it was business as usual for the top seeds. Novak Djokovic cruised, Jannik Sinner barely broke a sweat, and the Old Guard reminded us they’re not done yet, with Stan Wawrinka rolling back the years in a five-set epic. We also unpack shock exits for Stefanos Tsitsipas and Hubert Hurkacz, ask whether pressure strikes again at the Slams, and debate the real motivation behind Ethan Quinn’s breakout win (spoiler: credit card roulette may be involved).
Over on the women’s courts, Naomi Osaka delivered fireworks and a frosty handshake in a tense post-match moment against Sorana Cirstea. Did the Romanian have a point about Osaka’s ‘come ons’ in between serves? And should the umpire have done more? We decide! Iga Swiatek also advanced amid one of the stranger “hindrance” calls you’ll see all year. Plus, we spotlight rising Czech star Nikola Bartunkova after bouncing back from another bagel to beat Belinda Bencic.
We also talk Aryna Sabalenka’s new Gucci collab, gold rackets, windy conditions, and look ahead to a blockbuster Day 6 clash between Alex de Minaur and Frances Tiafoe.

Thu, 22 Jan 2026 - 42min - 572 - Australian Open Day 4 - de Minaur digs deep to win, Sabalenka + Gauff sail into Round 3
In today’s episode, they unpack Carlos Alcaraz surviving a marathon 78-minute first set – the longest opening set of his Grand Slam career – before powering through on Rod Laver Arena. We discuss whether his new-look serve is edging into Novak Djokovic “copyright” territory, plus what his team are telling him behind the scenes.
It was a gritty day for the other top male seeds as well, with Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev and Alex de Minaur all battling through four-set wins, while Cam Norrie kept British hopes alive to set up yet another clash with Zverev who holds a 6-0 record in the H2H. Not so much joy for Emma Raducanu though, as she bowed out early in a flat second-round loss to Anastasia Potapova – we ask the big questions about form, fitness and whether she should ditch Francisco Roig.
On the women’s side, the top seeds cruised. Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff and Mirra Andreeva all booked their places in Round 3 with minimum fuss, while we also dive into off-court banter, from Federer and Alcaraz golfing to Rublev’s elite “coffee and sleep” recovery routine. Plus look ahead to the action on Day 5 where Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic and Elena Rybakina are the headline acts on Rod Laver Arena.

Wed, 21 Jan 2026 - 40min - 571 - Australian Open Day 3 - Sinner strolls into Round 2 as Osaka wins in style
Australian Open Day 3 served up a little bit of everything in Melbourne Park with champions cruising, favourites wobbling, bold fashion statements (Osaka!) and a few emotional goodbyes. Defending men’s champion Jannik Sinner looked ice-cool as he breezed past French showman Hugo Gaston via retirement. On the other hand, reigning women’s champ Madison Keys had to dig deep as the champion found a way to reach Round 2 battling some early jitters along the way.
Naomi Osaka also had to battle through in three sets on Rod Laver Arena, though the tennis almost took a back seat to her unforgettable jellyfish-inspired outfit, which had social media buzzing almost as much as her forehand. Fashion icon? Melbourne crowd favourite? Kim and Chris give their views on if it was a fashion fave or a fashion faux-pas. Elsewhere, they also bemoan the exit of two legends as Grigor Dimitrov and Gael Monfils exited early, with the Frenchman playing out his final ever match in Melbourne Park.

Tue, 20 Jan 2026 - 40min - 570 - Australian Open Day 2 - Djokovic hits 100 wins as Gauff makes strong start!
Australian Open Day 2 did not disappoint and on today’s episode Joel and Kim are back at Tennis Weekly HQ as they react to Novak Djokovic cruising to his 100th Australian Open win, barely dropping a point on serve as Melbourne once again feels like his kingdom. We also discuss Iga Swiatek surviving a nervy opening-round first set, a skirt-for-shorts wardrobe change and whether her second serve still is a vulnerability for opponents to attack.
There’s celebration for Daniil Medvedev, who *finally* snaps a 370-day Grand Slam drought, while hotly tipped Felix Auger-Aliassime’s Australian Open campaign comes to a frustrating and premature end with cramps that he could not explain (and nor could we!). We also touch on Casper Ruud’s dominant start, Stan Wawrinka’s long-awaited Slam win, dramatic comebacks elsewhere on the men’s side (did someone say Jaume Munar?), plus the prize money controversy involving Michael Zhang shaking up tennis Twitter. We also unveil our Collect a Set player pick predictions and look ahead to Day 3 order of play headlined by Jannik Sinner and Naomi Osaka in the Rod Laver night session and Madison Keys getting her title defence underway.

Mon, 19 Jan 2026 - 40min - 569 - Australian Open Day 1 - Alcaraz and Raducanu impress as Venus loses out in R1 epic
Australian Open Day 1 is in the books, and it didn’t take long for the first big storylines to arrive at Tennis Weekly HQ. Carlos Alcaraz launched his bid to complete a Career Grand Slam in style, cruising past Adam Walton with a composed and confident performance to open his Melbourne campaign.
It was also a very good day for British tennis fans. Emma Raducanu, Cameron Norrie and Arthur Fery all booked their spots in round two. Raducanu’s win keeps alive the possibility of a mouth-watering rematch with Aryna Sabalenka who had a few early nerves of her own but quickly settled, powering through her opener in front of tennis royalty as Roger Federer and Rod Laver watched on from the stands.
Venus Williams was involved in one of the matches of the day, pushing Olga Danilovic to the limit in an epic contest before falling just short. The performance raised plenty of questions — and plenty of admiration — as Joel and Chris debated what’s next for the American legend.

Sun, 18 Jan 2026 - 43min - 568 - Australian Open Draw Reaction! Will Sinner and Sabalenka win again?
The Australian Open is back in Melbourne, and we’re kicking off Grand Slam season at Tennis Weekly HQ with a full, no-nonsense breakdown of the men’s and women’s singles draws, quarter by quarter — plus our trademark very BOLD predictions and a look back at the sheer brilliance of the Million Dollar One Point Slam.
On the men’s side, Novak Djokovic finds himself in Jannik Sinner’s half, while Carlos Alcaraz appears to have landed the easier path — but big questions remain over how he’ll perform without supercoach Juan Carlos Ferrero in his box. We also dig into whether Daniil Medvedev’s resurgence can continue, if an epic 2025 rivalry with Learner Tien could ignite in Round 4, and just how cruel the draw was for Alex De Minaur, who opens against Matteo Berrettini.
Over on the women’s side, we unpack Aryna Sabalenka’s Australian Open draw, including the prospect of a Wimbledon rematch with Emma Raducanu in Round 3 and a potential Round 4 test against rising star Victoria Mboko. Elsewhere, we’re manifesting Coco Gauff vs Venus Williams in Round 2 and questioning Madison Keys’ chances of defending her title.
Plus, we reveal our Collect A Set player picks — Taylor Fritz, Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Bublik, Aryna Sabalenka, Madison Keys, and Belinda Bencic. Let us know how far you think they’ll go in Melbourne before play starts on Sunday for your chance to win an official Australian Open cap!

Fri, 16 Jan 2026 - 1h 06min - 567 - Sincaraz clash in Korea, Poland win United Cup and Sabalenka breezes to Brisbane title
It’s the first tour catch-up of the season and it’s go, go, go at Tennis Weekly HQ. Joel and Chris break down all the winners and losers from a dramatic United Cup, as Poland claim the title at the third time of asking, led by a resurgent Hubert Hurkacz. Top of the agenda is Iga Swiatek – is the world No.1 already under pressure ahead of the Australian Open after losses to Coco Gauff and Belinda Bencic? The team also reacts to Taylor Fritz’s indifferent start to the season, capped by a shock defeat to clay-court specialist Sebastian Baez.
Elsewhere, Aryna Sabalenka puts Battle of the Sexes firmly behind her by storming to the Brisbane title without dropping a set, while Alexander Bublik picked up from where he left off last season with a debut into the ATP Top 10. Daniil Medvedev also claims he’s back to playing Top 5 tennis with his title win in Brisbane… but are we convinced? We also unpack the controversial Nairobi wildcard that got literally everyone talking (and believing they could play on the ITF tour), the Nick Kyrgios AO wildcard that wasn’t, discuss Milos Raonic’s retirement, and ask how history will judge his career. Plus, Kim delivers a very special crowdfund announcement as Tennis Weekly hits their £2,000 target!
