After weeks of anti-Israel protests, many are still ongoing across college campuses, despite universities warning of consequences for the illicit acts of disorder. Protesters at Columbia University in New York City were threatened with suspension if they did not clear out their encampments by a given deadline. The demonstrating students responded by violating the deadline and barricading themselves inside a campus building. Former Republican Governor of Indiana and former President of Purdue University Mitch Daniels joins the Rundown to discuss universities' responses to the demonstrations, what consequences the students should face, and how they are disrupting other students' college experiences. The Biden administration postponed its proposed menthol cigarette ban until after the 2024 election. A new study from researchers at Boston University says that language learning for those diagnosed with autism has better success when a diagnosis and therapy begins early. After 25 years at National Public Radio, Senior Editor Uri Berliner resigned Wednesday following backlash from fellow journalists regarding comments he made about NPR's political agenda. A federal appeals court blocked a Texas law that would allow the state’s own law enforcement to arrest migrants suspected of illegally crossing the border, a decision that came just hours after the Supreme Court ruled the bill could take effect. This state immigration law, S.B. 4, has two key parts: it would make illegal crossings a Class B misdemeanor and would require state judges to order migrants convicted of crossing to return to Mexico. Texas’ Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber joins the Rundown to give his perspective on the border crisis, why he believes the bill won’t shrink the rising illegal crossings, and what kind of action he wants to see from the Biden administration. Much of Haiti has become lawless, with hundreds of rival gangs taking control of the country’s capital city, Port-au-Prince. Former President Trump is facing a new legal roadblock: he must post over $450 million for bond in his New York civil case due to fines for manipulating property valuations. Weight loss was already a multi-billion dollar industry. Now, anti-obesity drugs that began as treatments for type-two diabetes are beginning to make their mark including Ozempic. As millions of migrants continue to cross the Southern border, Republicans are pushing a bill that would keep noncitizens from being counted on the Census.
