Did your high school have a disaster prep class? Mine didn't. I wish it had. This is a story of a high school in California where 1 student decided to take it upon himself to get involved in his local C.E.R.T. training and bring it into his high school for other students. This is a great idea and one that I hope to see more commonly, moving forward.

Lab599 has revealed a new Manpack portable QRP radio that they are calling the TX-500MP. This looks similar to their previous TX-500 model, but it is clearly made to drop into a backpack and has all of the ports on the top of the radio for easy access. Very little is known about this radio right now, but I will share with you what I have learned so far.
