Hi everyone, it’s Kanako. Today’s shadowing is “Volitional Form”.
The volitional form of a verb is the casual way to say “ましょう”.
You can use this to suggest a plan to close friends or family members.
For the Ru-verb, take “る” off, and add “よう”.

Hi everyone, it’s Kanako. Today’s shadowing is “Have not… yet”.
When the things supposed to do haven’t been done yet, use 「まだ~ていません」. For instance, if you say 「まだ昼ごはんを食べていません」, it implies that there’s an intention that you’re going to have lunch but for now, it didn’t happen yet.
「まだ~ていません」is often used to reply to a question with 「もう~ましたか」.

Hi everyone, it’s Kanako. Today’s shadowing is “Past Tense Short forms”.
The short form of verbs of the past tense affirmative is the same as the te-form. However, you need to replace "て" with "た", and "で" with "だ". Therefore, “かいて” will be “かいた”, and “飲んで” will be “飲んだ”.
For the short form of the past tense negative, use the same conjugation for the short form negative present tense, and replace “ない” with “なかった”. For instance, “食べない” would be “食べなかった”.

Hi everyone, it’s Kanako. Today’s shadowing is “Transform Verbs into Nouns”. When you want to describe what you like to do or are good at, you can change the verbs into nouns by using short form plus “の”. “の” acts like “- ing” or “to” in English.
For instance, if you want to describe that you like to go to coffee shops you can’t say “I like go to coffee shops”. You have to change “go” to “going” or “to go”. That’s the same idea of using “の”. The sentence would be like this. カフェに行くのが好きです。

Hi everyone, it’s Kanako.
Today’s shadowing is “Short form Adjectives / present tense”. We’ve practiced adjective conjugation before, but this will be the casual form of adjectives. If it’s used as a question, make sure the ending will be upper tone otherwise it’s hard to tell if it’s a question.

みなさんこんにちは、かなこです!今日のシャドーイングは「動詞(どうし)のShort form」です。
Hi everyone, it’s Kanako. Today’s shadowing is “Short form of verbs”. The short form is used in casual situations such as talking with friends or family members. Therefore, it’s better to avoid when speaking with people who met for the first time.
The short form of verbs of the present tense affirmative is the same as the dictionary form. For the U-Verb short form of the present tense negative, use “あ” vowel and add “ない”. For instance, “のむ” would be “のまない”. The exception is the verb ends with “う”. For this verb, use “わ” instead of “あ” and add “ない”, so “あう” would be “あわない”.

Hi everyone, it’s Kanako. Today’s shadowing is explaining the reason or the cause of a situation using “から”.
First, you can make a statement, and add “から” at the end of the next sentence to explain the reason. This way, you don’t need to make a long sentence including a reason in one sentence, so it’s much simpler.
Before we get started, I want to thank Michael for supporting my show. ありがとうございます!

みなさんこんにちは、かなこです!今日のシャドーイングは「Describing two activities using “てform”」です。
Hi everyone, it’s Kanako. Today’s shadowing is describing a sequence of actions.
If you were to say “I went to a café and studied (there)”, you can conjugate the first verb into “てform” and connect the second verb. The second verb can be present tense or past tense. In this form, there’s a sequence of actions, therefore the first verb takes place and then the second action will be made.

Hi everyone, it’s Kanako. Today’s shadowing is asking permission “May I ~?”.
When you visit Japan, sometimes you may need to ask permission before you do something. Even at a friend’s house, it’s very common to ask if it’s OK to use the washroom and so forth.
When you ask permission with 「」てform + もいいですか?」, the answer would be 「どうぞ (Please)」「いいですよ (You may)」「はい、いいですよ (Yes, you may)」「もちろん (Of course)」.
