Mon, 16 Dec 2019 - 35min - 121 - Larry Peyton and Beverly Allan
On the evening of November 27th 1960, police officers were on their usual patrol of the West Hills, near Portland, Oregon, when they came across a car stopped in a clearing. 500 yards from the nearest road, the car was not immediately visible to the officers. Nor was the lifeless body of Larry Peyton, a 19 year old Portland native, who was lying dead in his vehicle, after being stabbed multiple times. As well as evidence of a struggle, there was evidence of another person, a woman, whose purse and coat were still in the car, yet she was nowhere to be seen.

Mon, 02 Dec 2019 - 28min - 120 - Carole Tregoff and Bernard Finch
These days West Covina is solidly middle class and suburban. But, 60 plus years ago West Covina was a buzzy suburb full of upper middle class doctors and lawyers, their families, and their sprawling properties. Back in the 40s and the 50s it was a welcome retreat from the busy city life of LA for the rich and almost famous. The country club scene in West Covina was turned upside down one summer night in July 1959 when a love triangle between a married prominent doctor and his secretary turned mistress ended in murder.

Thu, 29 Aug 2019 - 35min - 117 - Rodney Halbower
When the first four months of 1976 saw the brutal murders of five women, San Mateo county was terrified. Even more sinister was the striking resemblance the girls shared, some even looking like they could be pictures of the same person.
With each murder, the police were more desperate for answers but a break in the case never came. The unsolved murders dominated local papers as police put all available resources into the investigations. If they could just get the one break they needed, they could solve the case and bring justice to the victims and their families.

Sun, 21 Jul 2019 - 33min - 115 - John Linley Frazier
On the night of October 19th, 1970, firefighters in Santa Cruz, California were on their way to investigate reports of a fire at one of the massive, hilltop properties that overlooked the Pacific Ocean.
Once they got there, they noted that the house appeared empty. Since it was on fire, an empty house was a temporary relief, because at least no one was trapped inside. That momentary relief evaporated when one of firefighters shone their flashlight into the backyard and into the swimming pool and found a body floating on the surface.

Thu, 20 Jun 2019 - 31min - 113 - Troy Davis
In the early morning hours of August 19th, 1989, Mark MacPhail was responding to a disturbance in the parking lot of a restaurant where he was working as a security guard.
He came across altercation involving three men. One man had just pistol whipped another with a hand gun. As Mark approached to try and stop the assailant turned and fired his gun, hitting Mark multiple times. Mark dropped to the ground and two men fled from the scene. The caller who reported the crime to 911 said that they saw multiple people running from the scene but were unable to identify them. The man who was assaulted was unable to identify who hit him with the gun.
The short but irreparably tragic altercation set off a chain of events that spanned over 20 years and ended with the execution of a man whose innocence is still debated today.

Thu, 22 Mar 2018 - 23min - 92 - Elton Manning Jackson
This episode was kind of a difficult one to write. This week we are talking about a serial killer who targeted open and closeted gay men in the 1980’s and 1990’s.
There are up to 12 victims attributed to the man responsible but not much is written about the perpetrator or the victims. Despite how prolific the case is, not much is known about the victims and the cases themselves weren’t connected by law enforcement until shortly before an arrest was made.

So this week is going to tie back into our very first episode, which was a 2 part episode, on Lonnie David Franklin Jr. who is also known as the Grim Sleeper. He was a serial killer in South Central Los Angeles who was operating for over 20 years and for the bulk of that time, LA Police Department did not know he was actively killing women in his neighborhood.

Thu, 01 Mar 2018 - 25min - 89 - Cindy James
This week we are discussing the mysterious death of Cindy James. Cindy was living in Canada when she began receiving disturbing phone calls. Phone calls turned to threatening letters, and that turned into weird things happening at her home. These bizarre instances culminated in Cindy being attacked on five separate occasions over seven years.
Despite all of the contact that was being made with Cindy, police were unable to ever pinpoint a suspect. Police conducted multiple in depth investigations into who could be responsible, but again, no one was identified.
Cindy’s ordeal came to a tragic end 7 years after the first phone call, but many questioned remained. Most importantly, who was responsible for the Cindy’s harassment and ultimate death? And did she do this to herself? Or did the person responsible evade capture, despite the heavy police presence?

Thu, 08 Feb 2018 - 23min - 86 - Billy Glaze
Episode 54 – Billy Richard Glaze
This week we will be discussing a series of murders that happened in Minneapolis over a nine month period, from 1986-1987. Three women were found murdered near homeless encampments on the outskirts of downtown. All of the murders were eerily similar. All of the women were beaten, assaulted, and posed after their deaths. Also, all three victims were indigenous women and local to the area.
After the third victim was discovered, a task force was formed to try and identify the serial killer prowling the streets of Minneapolis. Police caught a break in the case and a suspect was arrested. By 1989, prosecutors secured their conviction and the case was considered close by law enforcement and the public.
Years later, with recanted testimony and new DNA testing abilities, the guilt of the person convicted was called into question. Did the state get it right the first time? Or was the wrong person in prison for these heinous murders?

Thu, 01 Feb 2018 - 26min - 84 - Xiana Fairchild and Amber Swartz
In mid-August 2000 an 8 year old girl came running into traffic. She flagged down a car and quite literally jumped through the window. She said she had been kidnapped two days earlier. Hours later the man responsible was apprehended.
After his arrest, the man started talking. Soon the talking turned to confessions for not one but eight kidnappings and murders. Two of the murders the man confessed to were two high profile kidnappings from the Bay Area that had not been solved, and one was over 10 years old.
With a list of confessions and very little evidence to go on, investigators got to work trying to corroborate this man’s story. Did law enforcement accidentally stumble upon an active serial killer? Or was this the work of someone who confessed to crimes he didn’t commit to torture families of missing persons? This week we will discuss the circumstances around the arrest and subsequent investigations.

Thu, 11 Jan 2018 - 26min - 81 - Covina Massacre
On the night of December 24th, 2008, a large family Christmas party was winding down. It had been another successful holiday party for the Ortega family, but shortly after 11:30 pm a man approached the residence. Once the door was opened, he forced himself in and started opening fire.
During the chaos, a call was placed to 911 that identified the shooter as the ex husband of one of the family members. Shortly after that, the house went up in flames and Pardo fled. By the end of the attack, 9 people would be dead at the hands of someone they knew. Bruce Jeffery Pardo had recently divorced his wife Sylvia and the house he attacked belonged to his ex in-laws.
By the time law enforcement tracked Pardo down, he was dead. He had killed himself shortly after the attack, but evidence showed suicide wasn’t his original plan.
Despite the divorce, anyone who knew the couple was taken aback by Pardo’s actions. Nothing about Pardo’s past suggested that he would commit such an atrocious crime, but it quickly became clear that he had been planning the attack for some time.
This week, we will go through the crime, the victims, and the man responsible. Personally, I find this case so disturbing because many of the warning signs you could look for were not there.

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 - 25min - 80 - Henry Louis Wallace
This week we will be discussing Henry Louis Wallace. Wallace is a serial killer who operated in Charlotte, North Carolina in the early 1990s. This is another case, where we see how crimes are treated different across racial lines.
Wallace’s victims were African American. He killed in the area for nearly 2 years before he was caught, but police weren’t actively pursuing a serial killer until 3 days before Wallace was arrested.
This week, we will talk about who Henry Louis Wallace is, and more importantly, who his victims were, and how he was able to evade capture for 22 months.

Thu, 07 Dec 2017 - 36min - 79 - Kevin Cooper
This week we are discussing Kevin Cooper, an African American man who was convicted in a quadruple homicide of a white family in Chino Hills, California in 1983. Kevin Cooper was found guilty and sentenced to death for the horrific crime. After his conviction, many questions were raised about his involvement.
On death row since the 80’s, many people have spoken out on behalf of Kevin and their belief in his innocence. This week we will discuss the crime that put him in prison, the evidence that put him there, and what evidence is disputed.
Is Kevin Cooper guilty? Or is the state of California keeping an innocent man on death row? The one thing we know for sure about this case, is there aren’t many clear cut answers.
No matter what side of the issue you find yourself on, this case is extremely controversial and raises questions about the death penalty in the United States.

Thu, 30 Nov 2017 - 44min - 78 - Claudia Brenner & Rebecca Wight
In May of 1988, Rebecca Wight and Claudia Brenner were spending a romantic weekend camping and hiking along the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania’s Michaux State Forest. After an encounter with a stranger when Rebecca used an outhouse at their first campsite, they decided to hike further down the trail for more privacy.
During their hike to their second location, they encountered the same man, this time with a gun casually laid across his shoulders; they didn't assume too much other than he was a drifter or hunter and everyone went their own way.
After finding a nice secluded hollow, four miles from the closest road, they setup camp and thinking they were alone, they started to be intimate. Without warning, Claudia and Rebecca would find themselves under fire. Eight shots range out, and in a few moments, Claudia would have been shot five times and Rebecca twice.
Unable to walk, Rebecca told Claudia to keep the pressure on her wounds and go get help. Claudia hiked four miles to the nearest road and found a ride to the local police station.
Rebecca died that night in the forest, Claudia survived and Stephen Roy Carr, who shot the two women because “he was enraged by the sight of two women having sex” and that the “two women taunted him by having sex in front of him” was caught in 10 days.
Tonight we will take you through Rebecca and Claudia’s story and how Claudia devoted herself to fighting anti-gay bias and became and advocate for the advancement of anti-hate legislation.

Thu, 16 Nov 2017 - 27min - 77 - Regina and Margaret DeFrancisco
Regina and Margaret DeFrancisco are two sisters who made headlines when they were just teenagers in the summer of 2000. Regina’s boyfriend, Oscar Velazquez was found dead in a vacant lot, shot, wrapped in a tarp, and set on fire. The crime scene was gruesome and the act seemed personal.
Law enforcement narrowed down on the two sisters as prime suspects. From the first round of questioning, police were suspicious of the two. Their alibis didn’t match up and they were nervous. Police let them go, but before they could be arrested for murder, the two girls had fled.
For the next two years the two girls would evade capture. It wasn’t until the story of Oscar’s murder was aired on Unsolved Mysteries and America’s Most Wanted was there a break in the case.
This week we will discuss the circumstances around Oscar’s murder, what led to the sisters’ captures, and what could have possibly motivated them to commit such a heinous crime.

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 - 23min - 74 - Jacob Ryan Evans
Thank you for your patience! I know this week we were late, but just think of it as being two eps in one week :)
Jacob Ryan Evans was 17 years old when he shot is mother and younger sister dead in their home in an affluent Texas suburb. Those who knew the family and knew the teen were shocked at the events. These actions didn’t fit in with the Jacob they thought they knew.
Today we will go through what we know about the crime, however this case is just another example of how sometimes there’s no making sense of the motive.

Christy Salters was a gifted athlete from a young age. After entering a Tough Woman Contest, which is an amateur boxing match, she knew that’s what she wanted to do.

Christy had a secret though, a secret that, according to her husband, would kill her career; and also according to her husband, if she acted on her desires or left him, he would let the world know her secret and then kill her, and he did try.
Tonight we take you through the harrowing survival of this gifted athlete who put women’s boxing on the map; tonight we take you through The Survival of Christy Salters.

Thu, 05 Oct 2017 - 27min - 70 - James Dale Ritchie
A special THANK YOU to Lanie of True Crime Fan Club for joining us in this special crossover episode!!
Anchorage saw an increase in homicides in 2016. Late that summer, a terrifying pattern seemed to be emerging. People were being shot to death in pairs on the bike trails that wind through the city and police were left with very little evidence to go on. Some victims seemed to know each other and others didn’t. All were victims of opportunity.
Colleen first heard about this case in late 2016. Articles began popping up asking if there was an unidentified serial killer operating in Anchorage. Police were quick to dismiss the speculation, but the death toll continued to rise.
All of that came to an end that November when a chance encounter between a pedestrian and a police officer turned deadly. Soon police would match a gun at the scene to 5 previously unsolved murders from that year. The person responsible was dead, but Anchorage was left with more questions than answers.

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 - 28min - 69 - Linda Carty
In May 2001 armed intruders broke into an apartment in Texas. What seemed like a robbery for drugs and money, quickly took a dark turn when a woman and her three day old son were kidnapped from the apartment. The next morning, the baby would be found unharmed, but the woman would be found murdered.
Quickly, the investigation unfolded and it appeared that the robbery was a cover orchestrated by a woman named Linda Carty who had told her husband that she was pregnant with his baby. A quick trial ended in a capital murder conviction and the case was closed.
Is it really that simple though? Or is there more to the story? Was Linda so desperate for a child that she planned a kidnapping and murder? Or was she framed by people from her past?
This week we will be discussing Linda Carty and the crime that landed her on death row.

Katherine Knight certainly earned the nickname, The Black Knight. The crime she committed was so brutal that she is the first woman to be sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole in Australia and details of this case are gruesome and disturbing, but pertinent to the case itself. We have the privilege of doing another Patreon Reward Episode. If you donate monthly at the $25 level, you get to choose the topic and we will research and produce an episode on it. Tiffany picked the Bath School Bombing, or also called the Bath School Disaster or the Bath School Massacre. The Bath School Massacre was a series of vicious bombings carried out by Andrew Kehoe on May 18th, 1927, the 90th anniversary was this past May, as a matter of fact. This is still the deadliest act of school violence in the history of the US and by the time Andrew finished with his mass murdering plot, he and 44 other people, including 38 children and his wife, would be dead and another 58 seriously injured. Tonight we will take you through why and how this school board treasurer, angered by increased taxes, was able to bring such destruction and violence to Bath Township, Michigan. Thu, 31 Aug 2017 - 30min - 66 - The Disappearance of Kevin Collins
On the evening of February 10th, 1984, 10-year-old Kevin Collins was on his way home from basketball practice. Witnesses reported seeing him waiting for the bus at around 6:30 pm, talking to a tall man. Kevin never made it home that night and since that night in February, has never been seen again. The early and mid-80s marked an increase in interest of missing children, particularly children who were victims of stranger abductions. Adam Walsh had been kidnapped a couple of years earlier and a movie about his kidnapping and murder was released shortly before Kevin’s disappearance. Kevin’s picture went nationwide and was circulated on billboards, milk cartons, and magazine covers. His case was used as an example of how parents could better protect their children from stranger abductions and police used this case to learn how to better address missing children reports to increase their chances of recovery. Despite the widespread attention, few leads came in regarding Kevin. Months turned to years and eventually his family accepted that he was probably not coming back. So who took Kevin? And what happened to him? This week we are going to discuss Kevin’s disappearance and what has transpired in the three decades since he has been missing. ***Support us by supporting our sponsors! www.kindsnacks.com/misconduct *** ***Remember to listen till the end for a promo from our pod friend Killafornia Dreaming!! *** Join Our Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/misconductpodcast/ Check Us Out Online: http://www.misconductpodcast.com/ Like Our Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/misconductpodcast/ Become a Patreon Supporter: https://www.patreon.com/misconductpodcast Donate: http://www.misconductpodcast.com/donate/ Find Us On Apple Podcasts: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/misconduct.-true-crime-podcast/id1191380648?mt=2 Find Us On Stitcher: http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/misconduct-a-true-crime-podcast?refid=stpr

Thu, 24 Aug 2017 - 27min - 65 - Velma Barfield
Nichole joins us this week as Colleen is under the weather. We are lucky that Nichole swooped in and saved the day! Now, onto the show… Velma Barfield was an American serial killer living in North Carolina. She had a rough upbringing and escaped her situation by marrying young. The marriage was overall a happy one, until an operation led to a behavioral change in Velma. The once happy couple turned bitter and argued constantly. This went on for years and one day Velma and the kids left the house and returned later to find their house burned and Velma’s husband dead. That would be the first of multiple suspicious deaths that Velma was connected to. There would be 4 more before someone placed an anonymous tip to the police. After the investigation was completed, questions still remained. Who was Velma? What made her decide to kill people? And are there even answers to these questions? ***Support us by supporting our sponsors! www.kindsnacks.com/misconduct *** ***Remember to listen till the end for a promo from our pod friend It’s About Damn Crime!! *** Join Our Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/misconductpodcast/ Check Us Out Online: http://www.misconductpodcast.com/ Like Our Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/misconductpodcast/ Become a Patreon Supporter: https://www.patreon.com/misconductpodcast Donate: http://www.misconductpodcast.com/donate/ Find Us On Apple Podcasts: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/misconduct.-true-crime-podcast/id1191380648?mt=2 Find Us On Stitcher: http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/misconduct-a-true-crime-podcast?refid=stpr

Thu, 17 Aug 2017 - 26min - 64 - Elizabeth Short
On patreon if you donate at the $25 dollar a month level you get to choose whatever true crime topic you would like and we will cover it on an episode.
This is our first Patreon donor episode! Jozett has been a donor from very early on in the podcast, so we are excited that we get to research and bring you this content. Jozett wanted us to cover the murder of Elizabeth Short, who is more commonly known as the Black Dahlia.
On the morning of January 15th, 1947 a woman was walking home with her young daughter in the Leimert Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. As the woman walked by an empty lot in a residential neighborhood, she was taken aback by what she thought was a broken mannequin lying the grass. Upon closer look, she realized that the mannequin lying in the grass was actually the body of a young woman.
The face had obvious signs of trauma, noticeably deep cuts on the sides of her mouth. Her body had been completely cut in half and drained of blood. The case immediately became highly publicized and has remained so as it went from an open murder investigation to a Los Angeles urban legend. Even though there was a long list of potential suspects, the case has never been solved.
We’re going to take you through what we know about Elizabeth Short, how she became the Black Dahlia, and the suspects in the case.

Thu, 10 Aug 2017 - 42min - 62 - The Wrongful Conviction Of Dusty Turner
Dusty Turner has been incarcerated for over 20 years for the 1995 murder of a woman named Jennifer Evans. At the time, Dusty had just completed his Navy SEAL tactical training in Virginia. He was out at a bar with some friends in Virginia Beach, including his roommate and swim buddy, Billy Brown.
Due to a combination of false testimony and investigator error Dusty was sentenced to 82 years in prison for charges of first degree murder and abduction.
Tonight we discuss how a good kid from a good family, who was well on his way to becoming one of the youngest Navy SEALS to graduate from training ended up sentenced to prison for over 80 years.
We had the opportunity to talk to some of the people involved in trying to get justice for Dusty including JD, who created the documentary about Dusty’s case, Lisa, who runs the social media and website to bring awareness to his case and Linda, Dusty’s mother, who takes us through this ordeal.

On September 9th, 1996, Sofia Silva vanished from her home in Spotsylvania Co, Virginia. A month later her body was found in a nearby county. With her suspected killer caught, her town believed that their children were safe; until seven months later when Kristen and Kati Lisk were taken from their front yard. Thu, 06 Jul 2017 - 42min - 58 - Speed Freak Killers
In early 1999 two men were arrested in connection with a missing woman from Lindon, California. Law enforcement suspected the two of kidnapping and killing the woman, they just didn’t know why. What they did not expect was that they would end up with a serial killer case on their hands.
The media dubbed the two the Speed Freak Killers, because their MO was to go on a meth bender and hunt for random victims. They operated purely on crimes of opportunity, yet alluded law enforcement for over 15 years.
Today we will discuss the two men, where they came from, their crime spree, and their ultimate undoing.

Thu, 29 Jun 2017 - 29min - 55 - The Disappearance Of Sheila Fox
Sheila Fox was 6 years old when she disappeared on her way home from school in 1944 in Bolton, Lancashire, England. She was seen leaving the school but never made it home. Because of her young age, a search immediately began. Conflicting eyewitness accounts were given to investigators, but Sheila was never seen or heard from again.
The case remained cold for 57 years. Then in 2001, the investigation became active again because law enforcement received a new tip. This was the first credible tip they had received in over half a century. Unfortunately, the tip went nowhere, but questions arose about other incidents in the area. Was Sheila an isolated incident? Or was there a serial offender responsible for multiple attacks in the area? Or were there multiple offenders operating in the area.

Thu, 08 Jun 2017 - 28min - 54 - The Murder Of Stacy Hanna
This week we will be discussing the murder of Stacy Hanna. Stacy was an 18 year old woman who had just moved to Richmond, Virginia. She has recently relocated and had even found a group of friends. She was making a place for herself in the world and for the first time was feeling like she belonged.
It would be her own friends that would turn on her and ultimately take her life. The attack Stacy suffered was long and brutal. The crime left the community shocked at the sheer magnitude of callousness and violence that was directed at one young woman. Why did they kill her? The reason would raise more questions than it would answer.

Thu, 01 Jun 2017 - 36min - 53 - Darren Deon Vann
On October 17th, 2014 the body of a young woman was found in a Motel 6 in Indiana. She was found in the bathtub with the shower running by her friend who had grown concerned when her repeated texts were not being returned. When her body was found, it was clear she had been strangled.
Police quickly narrowed down a suspect based on cell phone records and security camera footage. Once arrested, the suspect confessed to the murder. Law enforcement thought they were dealing with an open-shut case. That was until the suspect confessed to 6 additional murders and told police he was willing to lead them to the bodies.
Today we will discuss a suspected serial killer who’s killings may span multiple decades and multiple states. We will look at the circumstances that surrounded his capture and where the investigation is as of today.

Thu, 25 May 2017 - 40min - 49 - The Murder Of Angie Zapata
This week we are discussing the case of Angie Zapata. Angie was 18 when she was murdered for being trans. The landmark case was notable because it was the first time that the hate crime statute was applied to a case involving a crime against a transgender person in Colorado. It was also the first example of a hate crime statute being successfully applied to get a conviction for the murder of a transgender person in the United States. This case is particularly heartbreaking because it involves the senseless, bigoted murder of a teenager who was very much loved by her friends and family.
If you are struggling with or questioning your gender identity or sexual orientation you should know that you aren’t alone. GLAAD’s website has a huge list of resources and information you can read more about transgender resources here and LGBTQ resources here.

Thu, 13 Apr 2017 - 46min - 46 - Clarence Lee Brandley
Today we are discussing the trial, conviction, and eventual exoneration of Clarence Lee Brandley. In 1980 he was working as a janitor at a high school in Texas. On the morning of August 23rd 1980, Cheryl Dee Fergeson was found murdered in a loft above the auditorium where Clarence worked. Some forensic evidence was recovered from the scene but was lost or destroyed before it was tested for trial.
Eventually the evidence was tested and it was proven that it could not have come from Clarence. Even with all the issues with the evidence, Clarence, an African American, man was convicted in front of an all white jury in 1981. Eleven months later, he was sentenced to death.

Thu, 06 Apr 2017 - 44min - 45 - Ivan Teleguz
I cannot tell if it’s because the urgency of it, as he is set to be executed on April 25th, 2017? Is it because he’s from a large family, much like mine, and it hits closer to home; or is it the just blatant misconduct? Whatever it is, I feel deeply about this case and Ivan and I really wanted to get his story out there and hopefully get people calling/emailing the governor and signing the petition because I truly believe they are about to kill an innocent man.
As we said in the show, I think if you’re pro or anti death penalty, that’s besides the point because I think we can all agree that if someone is being put to death as a punishment for a crime, we better be damn sure they are guilty, with no doubts whatsoever.

Wed, 08 Mar 2017 - 35min - 38 - Evelyn Hernandez
Tonight we are discussing the case of Evelyn Hernandez. She was a 24 year old woman who was due to give birth in a week who was last seen alive on May 1st 2002 with her 5 year old son, Alexis. Her body was found floating along the Embarcadero in the San Francisco Bay on July 24th 2002 and her son has never been found. As of today, the case remains unsolved, although foul play is suspected.
5 months after Evelyn’s body was discovered in, Laci Peterson would go missing in nearby Modesto, California and coverage of the investigation would grip the nation for months. Although these cases are strikingly similar, one received worldwide attention and the other was barely covered locally. Tonight we will be discussing what happened to Evelyn and the disparities in the media coverage between the two cases.

Thu, 09 Feb 2017 - 38min - 37 - Kristen Modafferi
Local cases are always of interest to us; we like to see what goes on in our backyard. As I researched this case, however, I found it more and more odd and with all cases where people seemingly vanish, I found it very frustrating.
I think John and Jill did have something to do with her disappearance, however. The call that is noted on the www.FindKristen.com website (click here) was the straw that broke the camels back, so to speak.
Again, if you have any information on this case, you can contact the Oakland, CA Police Department at 510-238-3641.

This case is really frustrating for me due to the lack of evidence; so much of the discussion of this case quickly turns to speculation and assumptions because there is so little to go on.
New York Magazine published an article in 2005 that details what it known about the case and Sneha’s last known whereabouts in the most complete write up I have found through my research. You can read the full article here.

This case was brought to our attention by my Wife’s co-worker; his wife was one of the pro-bono attorneys working on Richard’s case. I am a sucker for police/prosecutorial misconduct (hey, that’s the name of our show!) and this one, in my opinion, is up there. Twenty years gone and lives forever changed.
I have great respect for the amazing attorneys that took on his case pro-bono and the Bronx DA Darcel Clark who was willing to give this case a thorough review. Without either, he would most likely still be in jail.

The Grim Sleeper is a topic we both found interesting, mainly because it is such a complicated case. We use our blog posts to expand on our opinions on various topics and points discussed in the episodes and encourage any questions or comments below!
I actually first heard of the Grim Sleeper when I was searching through Netflix and HBO for something to watch on a rainy day. I ended up coming across Nick Broomfield’s documentary called Tales of the Grim Sleeper and it blew me away that I hadn’t heard about this case before. Eileen and I both highly recommend that documentary for a more in depth look at the area the Grim Sleeper lived, worked, and killed in. I think Nick does a good job of letting the people who knew him tell their stories.
