New York police responded to Divino Niño Daycare in the Bronx and found three children unconscious. Nicholas Dominici, just a year old, died from a fentanyl overdose. Two other children in the home-run daycare were revived after being administered Narcan.

Wed, 20 Sep 2023 - 3403 - FINALLY, JUSTICE for Girl, 9, Raped & Murdered Just Yards from Home
Nine-year-old Debbie Randall is abducted while walking home from the laundromat, just yards from her family's apartment.
Sixteen days later, her brutalized body is found dumped eight miles away. Despite law enforcement's best efforts, the seemingly random killer has been unidentified for nearly 50 years. Investigators discover a small rag inside Randall's vaginal cavity and initial testing reveals a partial DNA sample. The sample is sent through CODIS, but no one in the prison system, not even executed prisoners, is a match.
As DNA testing improves, investigators use genetic genealogy to find the killer. William Rose, 24 at the time of the murders, committed suicide just two years after Randall's murder. Randall's brother says he believes the weight of what Rose did to Debbie led Rose to take his own life.

Sun, 17 Sep 2023 - 3397 - GLAM 'SUPER-MOM' Sherri Papini FAKES OWN KIDNAP AND TORTURE, WALKS FREE
Sherri Papini admits her 2016 kidnapping was a hoax, pleading guilty.
The 39-year-old, sentenced to 18 months in prison, has been released into a residential management program. Her official release date is in October.
The mom was reported missing and told investigators when she was found 22 days later that a pair of Hispanic women kidnapped her at gunpoint. Papini said her kidnappers abused her and then shoved her out of a car. Papini was emaciated, her hair was cut shorter, and she had cuts and bruises all over her body, but prosecutors said she caused the injuries herself.
The case was broken in 2020 when DNA led investigators to Papini’s ex, who told them she had been with him the entire time. Federal prosecutors charged Papini with 34 counts of mail fraud and one count of making false statements. Papini accepted a plea deal, but didn't explain why she created an elaborate kidnapping hoax, although she apologized for her actions.
Panini's story began to unravel when investigators found male DNA on her clothing that led them to her ex-boyfriend, whom she had been staying with while she pretended to be missing. He dropped her off along Interstate 5 when she said she wanted to go back home.
Investigators said that the former boyfriend said that Papini had asked him to hit her but he refused. Instead, he agreed to hold a hockey stick for her to run into and pelted her with hockey pucks. He also said he branded her at her request.

Sat, 16 Sep 2023 - 3396 - NEW BOOK LEADS TO PASTOR’S ARREST IN MURDER OF GIRL, 8, WALKING TO BIBLE CAMP
Eight-year-old Gretchen Harrington leaves home, walking to vacation bible school at a church just a half mile from her home. Usually, Gretchen is accompanied by her two sisters, but this day, she walks alone. The older girls stay home.
It was just after 9 a.m. when Pastor Harold Harrington waved goodbye. Two hours passed before he found out Gretchen never made it to VBS. Hundreds of people took part in the search for the little girl. A police helicopter continuously flew overhead. Teams of searchers combed the hillside of the community. Friends and family hand out fliers with Gretchen’s picture on it. Some witnesses said they had seen Gretchen outside a car, talking to someone, but nothing came of the lead.
Two months later, a jogger found the skeletonized human remains of a little girl. The Harringtons confirmed the clothing found with the body as Gretchen’s. It was only 20 minutes from her home.
Gretchen’s manner of death is ruled a homicide. The girl's skull has been fractured by multiple vicious blows. An autopsy does not reveal sex assault, but police believe that was the motive.
Now, years later, a new book leads to the capture of a murderer.

Mon, 11 Sep 2023 - 3386 - Body Bags with Joseph Scott Morgan: Murder or Misfortune - The Deaths of Stephen & Carol Baxter
Stephen and Carol Baxter are discovered deceased, peacefully positioned side by side in their recliners in their seaside home on Easter morning. With the cold winds of Great Britain and the serenity of their repose, carbon monoxide poisoning is the initial suspicion. As the layers of this puzzle unfurl, new clues emerge. Joseph Scott Morgan and Dave Mack dive into the mysterious deaths of a married couple, taking listeners on a journey through the complexities of crime scene investigations, the tragic dangers of carbon monoxide, and the lethal grasp of synthetic opioids. When the toxicology report unveils the presence of fentanyl in the couple's system, the case takes a darker turn.

Time-codes:
[00:20] - Joe Scott Morgan sets the scene, discussing the unique coldness of being near the sea during cooler months. He then introduces the story of a married couple found dead in their home, initially suspected of carbon monoxide poisoning.
[01:35] - Joe Scott discusses his love for Great Britain and how its unique environment affects the inhabitants, specifically referencing the couple in question, Stephen Baxter and his wife, Carol.
[02:32] - Dave Mack describes the heartbreaking scene when the Baxter’s daughter, Ellie, finds her parents dead in their recliners. He discusses her immediate assumption of carbon monoxide poisoning and her actions to protect herself and her child.
[04:50] - Joe Scott Morgan returns to the scene, providing a more precise location of the couple's home and the characteristics of the area. He talks about the first responders' initial investigation, noting the lack of signs of forced entry or struggle, and the importance of considering all possibilities in an investigation.
[07:44] - The pivotal role of the initial reporter in a crime scene is highlighted. Joe stresses how their early observations can greatly influence the subsequent trajectory of the investigation, and shares a poignant moment when the daughter discovered her parents on Easter Sunday.
[10:00] - Morgan shares his harrowing personal experience with carbon monoxide, illuminating the silent dangers investigators face. This anecdote also serves as a potent reminder of the gas's deadly potential.
[12:20] Mack questions how investigators transition from a peaceful scene to a full-blown investigation. Joseph Scott Morgan offers invaluable knowledge on the visual indicators of carbon monoxide poisoning, the process of checking for carbon monoxide in the house, and the role of the fire service.
[15:00] - Morgan talks about the challenge investigators face when there are no signs of forced entry, external trauma, or carbon monoxide poisoning, raising the possibility of double suicide. He explains what investigators would look for at the scene, breaking down the evidential requirements that would substantiate such a claim.
[17:40] - The lethal potential of carbon monoxide is revisited, focusing on its aftermath. Morgan and Mack discuss its deadly embrace and how it can deceive even the most seasoned investigators.
[00:20:20] - The narrative zooms out, shedding light on the affluent life led by the Baxters. Their status and lifestyle add a new dimension, prompting questions of motive and involvement.
[23:16] - Morgan explains the couple's health conditions and provides a crash course on the indicators of heroin usage at a crime scene. He reveals that the toxicology report for Mr. and Mrs. Baxter showed that they had fentanyl in their systems, a potent drug that has caused many deaths.
[25:41] - The conversation expands to the societal implications of fentanyl misuse. By tracing its origins from medical utility to illicit usage, listeners are offered a broader context of the drug's devastating impact.
[26:44] - Joe Scott Morgan reveals that three people have been charged in the Baxter's deaths.

Sun, 03 Sep 2023 - 3373 - DEATH PENALTY SOUGHT FOR PERV IN MEMPHIS-MOM-JOGGER MURDER
Tennessee prosecutors are seeking the death penalty Cleotha Abston, also known as Cleotha Henderson. He is charged with kidnapping and killing Memphis teacher Eliza Fletcher.
Fletcher vanished while out on her morning run. Neighborhood video captured images of Fletcher being forced into an SUV. The kindergarten teacher's body was found days later near a vacant house less than a mile from the kidnapping site.
Officers combing the area noticed footprints, tire tracks and “an odor of decay.” A pair of purple Lululemon running shorts matching what Fletcher was last seen wearing, was found in a nearby trash can.
Abston, 39, is also charged with the rape of a woman in September 2021, but he was not arrested until after Fletcher’s killing because the state crime lab hadn’t gotten around to processing the sexual assault kit.
Abston has pled not guilty.

Fri, 01 Sep 2023 - 3371 - Has Serial Killer Dennis Rader Struck Again? Part 2
When Dennis Rader, the serial killer dubbed BTK, was arrested in 2005, lots of documentation was found by the Wichita police: documentation in the form of his own writings, journals, and an unpublished book manuscript.
The manuscript is thought to be a description of the murders BTK viewed as “successful." There were Polaroids of Rader dressed like his victims and in the “state” in which their murders occurred… bound, partially buried, or hanging upside down.
The Osage County Sheriff’s Office investigators have poured over Rader’s writings looking for links to local unsolved crimes, and the information inside led police to search the property where Rader and his family lived.
During their search of the property, investigators found " trophies" from at least one woman. Investigators also found chains apparently used for bondage, along with C-clips. C-clips can shorten chains or be used to secure a person’s legs or feet. We know that a pantyhose ligature was found. Other items found have not been described publicly.

Wed, 30 Aug 2023 - 3364 - Texas Judge Lets Convicted, Cold-Blooded Killer Walk Free to 'Get His Hair Styled at Barbershop'
The father and stepmom of a New York man killed during a vacation watched via Zoom as the man who confessed to the murder was released from jail to get a haircut.
Gregory Moore, a father of four, and friends rented a home in Houston, an Airbnb. After a night of clubbing, the men returned to their Airbnb. As one of the men parked the car, Moore and a woman with the group walked to the door. They never made it inside.
A man wearing a hoodie and carrying a flashlight rushed Moore. Moore was pistol-whipped and shot multiple times. He took strikes to the neck, torso, left leg and both arms. Moore was life-flighted to a hospital but did not survive.
James Ray Lane, 33, confessed to the murder, but 351st Criminal District Court Judge Nata Cornelio allowed the defendant to remain free.
When Lane was charged, Judge Cornelio lowered Lane's $250,000 bond to $100,000, and during that time Lane has had multiple curfew violations.
Back before Judge Cornelio, Lane pleads guilty to murder, but the judge according to court documents allows Lane to remain free on bond until his sentencing, so he could get a haircut.

Tue, 29 Aug 2023 - 3362 - WHERE IS DENVER PD? WHERE IS WINTER PARK PD? 2 Women Missing, Cops Won't Help
Two women go missing within six miles of each other in Winter Park, Colorado.
Melissa Whitsitt moved from Tennessee to Colorado in May to start a job at Winter Park Resort, almost 70 miles outside Denver. Mom Cindy Whitsett says her daughter had two days off and was supposed to return to work on Tuesday, August 15th. Whitsitt didn’t show up for her shift the police are called and a welfare check is complete.
Whitsitt is not at her home. Police have confirmed that she got on a bus to Denver on Saturday around 10 a.m. She was wearing blue bell-bottom jeans, a blue tank top and/or a white sweatshirt.

Svetlana Ustimenko is an avid hiker living in Broward County, Florida, according to the Idaho Statesman. Family members say Ustimenko had been drawn to the peaceful Colorado mountains.
After finding her rental car had not been returned by the due date and learning that Ustimenko was reported as missing from Florida, authorities launched an immediate search around the area where her vehicle was located on August 11.
According to a news release from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, the Grand County Search and Rescue, Front Range Rescue Dogs, Rescue Dogs of the United States, Colorado Search and Rescue as well as drones and volunteers, began searching for Ustimenko. Six cadaver dogs joined the search efforts to no avail.

Sun, 27 Aug 2023 - 3359 - Natalee Holloway's Suspected Killer in U.S. Court Pleads Not Guilty
Joran van der Sloot's appearance in an American federal courtroom was short.
It took the convicted killer less than five minutes to enter a not-guilty plea on charges that he extorted money from Natalee Holliway's mother. The Dutch national was one of the last people to see the Alabama teen alive during her senior trip to Aruba in 2005, and many have theorized that van der Sloot raped and murdered her.
During the Holloway investigation, van der Sloot told mother Beth Twitty that he would tell her where her daughter's body was for $250,000; $15,000 was wired to a Netherlands bank account and van der Sloot was given another $10,000 through an attorney.
Van de Sloot offered a location but later admitted the information was “worthless.”

The investigations continue after Rex Heuermann's arrest in connection with the Long Island Serial Killer deaths, and now, another new victim possibility is emerging.

As the night progresses, Whetstone ends up at her boyfriend's house, and later in the evening decides to go home to check on her dog. She calls an Uber.

Around 6:41 a.m., a man claiming to be an Uber Driver brings a visibly ill woman to New Orleans East Hospital and drops her off. The medical staff says Whetstone is blue in the face and has dilated, fixed pupils. There are no other outward injuries.
Hospital personnel try to revive Whetstone without success. The time of death is called about 7 a.m. The Coroner determines that Whetstone has lethal doses of fentanyl and ethanol in her system at the time.

The child deaths span over the course of a year with, again, seven babies dying, while six others survived. Letby made babies sick by injecting intravenous lines with air, some were poisoned, and others were force-fed milk.

Thu, 17 Aug 2023 - 3339 - All-American Teen DEAD After Nude-Pix Swapped: SEXTORTION
Jordan DeMay was a popular, well-liked sports star at his Michigan high school. The 17-year-old took his own life just hours after someone demanded money to keep a compromising photo from being sent to his parents and friends. The extortionists, a group of men from Nigeria who have targeted more than 100 children and adults, initially contacted DeMay over a hacked social media account, posing as a teen girl who enticed Jordan into sending a nude photo. The sextortionist then flipped the script, pressuring DeMay to pay to keep the photo private. The teen sent everything he had, totaling $300. The perpetrators wanted more. Police say the entire sequence of events appeared to have taken about six hours, until deputies responded to the DeMay home just after 7:30 a.m.
The family is now hopeful Jordan will receive justice. FBI agents, with help from Nigerian law enforcement tracked down the three men behind the international sextortion ring. Samuel Ogoshi, 22, and Samson Ogoshi, 20, have now been extradited from Lagos to Michigan to face charges related to sextortion and Demay's death. Authorities are still working to extradite a third suspect, Ezekiel Robert. Samuel Ogoshi faces a minimum of 50 years behind bars, his younger brother's charges carrying a minimum of 20 years in prison.

Wed, 16 Aug 2023 - 3337 - Spray-Tan, Dating Sites, AA Meeting? Trail of Clues in Hiker-Mom Murder
While many questions remain unanswered, new details are emerging in the murder of mom-of-5, Rachel Morin. We are learning that Morin stopped in a tanning salon she frequented before hitting the gym with new boyfriend, Richard Tobin. Tobin reportedly dropped Morin at home before she drove herself to one of two 'Ma and Pa' trailheads. In a now deleted Facebook comment, Tobin stated that he and Morin's children began searching for her around 9 p.m. and Tobin called in a missing person's report around 11:30 p.m.
Employees at the tanning salon where Morin reportedly kept a "daily appointment" say that Morin would keep them updated on her dating life, and was still actively using multiple dating sites, despite announcing her relationship with Tobin online. Police may be looking to men Morin matched with as potential suspects.
Police are also asking the community to submit tips on any information possibly related to the case. 5 dog walkers on the trail at the time of Morin's hike have been identified and questioned, hopefully helping investigators establish if Morin was alone, narrow down the timeframe in which the murder occurred, and find who did this to Rachel Morin.

An investigation is underway related to former priest Alex Crow. Alabama police say they are probing allegations that Crow may have groomed the teen, while she was still in high school. A love letter from Crow to the teen on Valentine’s Day of this year was found. Sheriff Burch said it is possible that more female students are involved. Sat, 12 Aug 2023 - 3331 - Hiker-Mom Rachel Morin Found 'Naked in Pool of Blood, Side of Face Gone'
Investigators looking into the shocking death of 37-year-old Rachel Morin, have been tight-lipped on how the mom of five died, the type of injuries she sustained, or whether she was fully clothed or not.
They're also pushing back on comments made by Michael Gabriszeski, who claims that his stepdaughter, Cecilia, found the body of Rachel Morin. Gabriszeski said that Cecilia saw Morin's body first and she began hyperventilating. He says police told Cecilia to sit down, and that she did, in a big pool of blood.
Gabriszeksi says Morin was laying on her back, fully naked, and she had brutal head trauma. It looked like her head had been smashed with a rock.
The Hartford Sheriff's Office Spokesperson said of Gabriszeski, "He has no first-hand knowledge of the crime scene."
The spokesman says Mr. Gabriszeski was in the area to help search for the missing woman, but "was not within eyesight of the crime scene”.

Fri, 11 Aug 2023 - 3329 - Topless Mom Crushed in Trash Chute of Lux Apartment. Dad: HITMAN DID IT!
Five years after police rule Lara Prychodko's death as a tragic accident, her father is still pushing for answers.
Prychodko died after falling 27 stories down a trash chute. Nicholas Prychodko claims in a lawsuit that his son-in-law carefully planned, and used a hit-man to facilitate her death. The couple was in the middle of an acrimonious divorce at the time.
The chief medical examiner concluded that Prychodko died from multiple blunt force injuries and was extremely intoxicated. Prychodko's father doesn't believe that explanation. He says a hitman hired by her husband was waiting for her on the 27th floor. She was strangled and the body was disposed of down the building's trash chute.
No criminal charges have ever been filed against her husband, David Schlachet. Prychodko’s father is suing for wrongful death.
