She went on to complete her Master's Degree and graduated in 2012 as a Nurse Practitioner. Since graduation, Sunny has worked in primary care and mental health and also worked as a director of health for a large non-profit organization. Over the last several years, Sunny has been working as an NP in Neurosurgery. Since graduation, Sunny has also developed numerous NP resources and courses as well as preparation courses for OSCE Exams. She has a passion for teaching and mentoring new NPs and enjoys the creative process involved in creating new resources for NPs to allow for innovative ways for the delivery of education. Farewell to the Doctor Nurse Podcast! I wish the DNP a bittersweet farewell after 2 years of solo hosting and interviewing the most amazing guests. I hope you each enjoyed being a part of our community of freedom seekers!

A graduate of Georgetown and Columbia Universities and The New York Freudian Society, Erica is a psychological consultant bringing parenting and work/life workshops to clinics, schools, corporations, and childcare settings including The Garden House School, Goldman Sachs, Shearman, and Sterling and SWFS Early Childhood Center.

Erica is also the author of the book Being There: Why Prioritizing Motherhood in the First Three Years Matters and has appeared on major media networks such as CBS, ABC, FOX, and NPR. She is a regular contributor to the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post,New York Daily News,and FOX 5 NY. She is a Contributing Editor to the Institute for Family Studies. Her upcoming book, Chicken Little The Sky Isn’t Falling: Raising Resilient Adolescents in the New Age of Anxiety will be released in Fall 2021.

She lives in New York City with her husband, optometrist, and social entrepreneur Dr. Jordan Kassalow with whom she has three teenage and young adult children.

Wilson is a physician assistant and assistant professor. He completed a dual Master's in Physician Assistant Studies and Public Health at Touro University California. After PA school, he completed a PA Educator Fellowship and Cancer Care Fellowship before working as an inpatient hematology/oncology APP. In addition to his clinical and teaching roles, he also worked as an oncology informatics specialist and educator in health tech and IT. He is currently working on various passion projects including financial coaching and running The Finance Hospital.

Wilson focuses on financial education and 1:1 coaching. He enjoys teaching student loans, personal finance, and investing topics!

Stephanie is a practicing nurse practitioner. She completed her Masters in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner program at Samuel Merritt University. While she was in school, she continued working full-time as a blood and marrow transplant and oncology nurse. After finishing her NP training, she began working as an inpatient oncology APP. She recently completed her Master's in Business Administration and is working as an outpatient oncology nurse practitioner. She currently splits her time between clinical work, real estate investing, and traveling.
Stephanie helps with the operational and business side of things. She is also our real estate investing enthusiast!

Dr. Annie DePasquale graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia with her medical degree. She completed her Facility Medicine Residency program at Georgetown University in Washington DC. She founded Collaborating Docs in 2020 by Dr. Annie who is a Board-certified Family Medicine physician who first-hand saw an unmet need of her NP colleagues who needed a supervising physician to practice independently. When Dr. DePasquale realized how hard it is for NPs to find a collaborating physician, she knew she had to do something. The hoops the nurse practitioners and physician assistants had to jump through to start practicing were too exhausting for anyone to handle alone. Dr. DePasquale benefited greatly from the mentorship of NPs throughout her career, especially when she was a green new grad, so she is very committed to giving back to the community that helped her so much. This week on the podcast we hear from Stephanie Simmerman, DNP APRN. She is originally from Michigan. Dr. Simmerman has lived in Naples, Florida for over 20 years. She graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida in 2007 and started her healthcare career as a registered nurse with Riverchase Dermatology. In May 2012, in the course of her Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) degree, she obtained the highest scholastic achievement in professional nursing, the Doctorate of Nursing Practice. Stacey Stenenga was born and raised in a small town in Michigan. Stacey joined the Air Force to see the world. After 14 years of living overseas and in multiple different states, Stacey moved to Colorado to settle down closer to family. Despite being a critical care nurse for 11 years, her income was nearly cut in half from relocating. In 2018, she found the book “Set for Life” by Scott Trench and became a devout student, learning as much as she could about real estate investing. Stacey has since acquired 4 duplexes and is a passive investor in syndication. Stacey’s love for real estate investing stems from supplementing her salary as a full-time nurse. She is passionate about improving healthcare and advocates for legislation to change the harmful work environment that so many healthcare professionals are forced to tolerate.

Christian Costazza, is a RN BSN who was born in Italy in 1984. He grew up with a pretty challenging childhood, losing his dad when he was 10. He was bullied in middle school, went straight to work after high school, and decided that he wanted to change his life by pursuing his BSN in Nursing. He graduated in 2012 with a BSN. He opened the first nurse-led business in his hometown and decided that he wanted more, so he moved to Ireland with basic English skills. After a few rejections, he chose to study and landed a job in NICU. After a while, he moved to England, where he became a cath lab nurse and went through all the roles, from RN to Director of two departments. He then started looking into the personal development space after having a period of burnout in the middle of the COVID pandemic. He decided to move to the US last year. He is currently based in Florida and works on a 1:1 basis with RNs to support them in navigating/avoiding burnout.

Introduction to guest: Melanie Graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and has primarily worked with the Pediatric Population for 4 years. Graduated with my BSN in 2018 after not getting into the professional program for the first time. She took that semester and regrouped, but took an opportunity to study abroad with her Nursing College to Kenya, Africa. She was there for 2 weeks doing community outreach, education, and being one with the Kenyans. FUN fact - her professor who took her is from Kenya and took them to the ‘hut’ she grew up in. She even got to meet her parents and have a meal. She also didn’t pass my NCLEX the first time. Sat there for the full 6 hours and answered all 275 questions. She got my report back and was nearly passing in almost every single category. She took it again and passed in 78 questions! She got her first job as a pediatric nurse at the bedside on an Acute Care floor. They primarily specialized in GI/GU, Endo & Pulm, but saw almost anything under the sun. They had a lot of chronic patients, lots of tubes, and longer stays. Melanie did that for almost 4 years before pausing bedside to support her fRNd’s in creative ways with Mel's Crafty Corner.

Dr. Jessica  Chung was born in the great state of  New  York.  She attended NYC College of Technology, received her Associate's Degree in Nursing in  2009, and graduated on the Dean’s List for academic excellence.

After graduation, she worked as a charge nurse for a nursing home and as a Nurse Case Manager for a  home care agency, both in Brooklyn,  New York. She received an opportunity to relocate to the sunny state of  Florida in 2010,  to work at an acute care hospital.  The year following, she obtained her Bachelor’s  Degree in  Nursing from Utica  College.

Jessica worked at various city hospitals, gaining experience as a registered nurse in various clinical areas such as medical pre and post-operative, emergency, and post-partum care. Wanting to further her education, she obtained a Master's Degree in nursing from South University with a concentration in Family Nurse practitioners and was board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She practiced as an FNP in primary, adult, pediatric, and geriatric care. In 2018, she received her Doctoral degree in Nursing Practice, from Samford University.

Dr. Chung was inducted into the prestigious Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society on May 3rd, 2018. Dr. Jessica Chung is also heavily involved in the ministry of her church, New Life Tabernacle, and UPCI, and constantly aspires to help and influence everyone she meets. She has been known to emphatically state that she does not look at being a healthcare provider as just a career but as a God-given gift and calling.

In 2019, one of Dr. Chung's dreams came true when she opened her own private practice, J.C. Healthcare & Associates in Tampa, FL. She provides a wide variety of healthcare services to patients of all ages. Due to her vast knowledge of healthcare business start-ups and private practice management, in 2020, Dr. Chung launched the International Business Association for Nurses where she helps nursing professionals and other healthcare professionals become entrepreneurs. Aisha started earned her BSN from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2013, and began her nursing career in the VICU stepdown in Virginia Beach. Six months later she changed jobs and moved to the Cardiac Surgery ICU to start her journey to become a Nurse anesthesiologist. In 2016 she went on to attend Duke University to esrn her DNP with a specialty in Nurse Anesthesia. Ashley is the Founder of Working Mom Notes, a supportive platform for working mothers.  She struggled to find resources as she returned to work after having her first baby.  Her goal was to connect with a few working moms and share “notes” with one another on how to navigate life as a working mother. Ashley knows that being a mom is hard in and of itself.  Add in the stresses of balancing a job and the combination can really take a toll. It's hard to find support and work through the challenges of being a working mom, whether it's a choice or a necessity.

Ashley has a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and Biology.  She worked in Manhattan for a physical therapy company as an Athletic Trainer performing sports medicine rehabilitation.  She then went on to graduate school and received a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.  She is a Physician Associate (formally Assistant) with a specialty in orthopedics and sports medicine.

Just as her platform has grown, so has her family.  Ashley lives in New Jersey, is married, and is now a mother to three beautiful little girls ages six, four, and two. She currently spends her days focused entirely on Working Mom Notes and advocating for working women nationwide.

She worked her way up the corporate ladder for over 10 years and was finally recruited to her "dream job" as a CEO in Hawaii, only to be fired five weeks later.
Left with a huge new lease and no income, she started her own consulting and coaching company, working from home, matching her CEO salary in half the hours, in her leggings.

As a new parent and overwhelmed by exhaustion, Jayne left behind her job in corporate sales, ready to fully embrace her new role as a mom. She loved her son, of course, but grew increasingly frustrated by his frequent night wakings. She found herself reading everything she could find in order to get him to sleep through the night.

Kirby was born and raised in Chicago, and a proud deep dish pizza enthusiast. She is a lover of travel, food and lifelong learning. Her journey in nursing started in 2006 as a registered nurse in Phoenix, Arizona working on a trauma unit, where she witnessed numerous times the intersection of trauma and mental health symptoms. These initial years in the nursing field sparked her interest in mental health conditions and treatment. She returned to school in 2009 to complete her Masters of Science in Nursing with a psychiatric mental health nursing concentration and successfully completed this degree from University of Virginia in 2011. For a little more over a decade she has been providing psych mental health care to adult populations in various treatment settings. Fatima Sharon Gatela MBA, BSN, RN-BC in Informatics Nursing. Fatima has a deep and enduring passion for Healthcare, Nursing, and Technology. She currently works at one of the country’s leading academic medical centers, where she helps to ensure that electronic health record (EHR) clinical documentation and content are consistent with federal and state regulations, as well as with organizational policy. This week on the podcast, we hear from Andrea Dalzell who is a registered nurse, healthcare advocate, disability rights influencer, speaker and most importantly, a survivor. At the age of five, Andrea was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, an inflammation of the spinal cord that causes pain, muscle weakness and paralysis, and she was using a wheelchair full-time by twelve years old. Inspired by her experiences with nurses, she received her nursing degree from the City University of New York, College of Staten Island. Andrea became the first registered nurse in a wheelchair in the state of New York, and she devotes her career to helping others with disabilities live healthier lives whether seated or able-bodied. Andrea was crowned Ms. Wheelchair New York 2015, and utilized her title and platform: "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Access," to promote her message and belief that people with disabilities can live a fulfilling life. As an advocate and activist, she has won national recognition over the years, including being named New Mobility's Person of the Year (2021) and the inaugural Craig H. Neilsen Visionary Prize Winner 2020. She has also been featured in Unite Spinal, HomeCare Magazine, Apple's iWatch campaign, Yahoo, and Forbes.

Sarah Michelle, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, FNP-BC runs a test prep company for primary care nurse practitioners that centers around confidence building and anxiety dampening. When she was preparing for my her board exam, she felt that there wasn't a board review out there for someone like herself that suffered from crippling anxiety. Ashley received her Bachelor's degree from Florida State University with a degree in International Affairs with a minor in Religion. She was offered the job and from day one, she was finally "home" because that "feeling" was GONE! She was and is currently working at an acute psychiatric unit at the Veterans Hospital, As she cared for the veterans and listened to their stories, she walked away wondering - What contributions can I make to the world to prevent people from feeling this way?"

She returned to school in 2019 in pursuit of becoming a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and graduated in August 2021 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She then released her apparel company PsychLife Tee Co. from her desire to create a positive experience for those who felt "different" by normalizing the conversation around mental health. Her challenge to all mental health professionals is to keep going and to start a movement UNTIL THE STIGMA IS NO MORE!

Hannah C. Jaeger BSN, RN, ALNC, CCRN, TCRN, PCCN is the owner CEO of the Blue Ridge Medical Legal Consultants. She is the legal nurse for her company, and she also works as an outpatient surgery nurse.  She finished her legal nurse consultant training in the spring of 2020 just as COVID hit. She's contracting with other legal nurse consulting firms to find cases.

Kristina Chamberlain, CNM, ARNP, IBCLC graduated from the University of Washington Midwifery Program in 2005. She became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant that same year. Kristina holds a license as a Certified Nurse- Midwife and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and has focused her career on lactation and breastfeeding medicine for the last 10 years. Kristina believes that breastfeeding success is directly related to the support someone receives and she believes everyone should have access to a lactation consultant. Currently, she is the Clinical Director and Lead Faculty of the UC San Diego Extension Lactation Program. Her passion is training future IBCLCs so that this kind of support is offered to everyone who wants it. She also continues to work with breastfeeding dyads in the clinical and telehealth setting.

Kristina lives in the Seattle area with her husband and two daughters, whom she breastfeed through lots of challenges, thanks to her lactation support team!

Sally Hallow graduated in 2016 with her ADN degree and obtained her BSN in 2017. She has worked med/surg, tele and float pool since then and loves the fast pace and variety she sees. After battling PPD and PPA with her second son, she went per diem to focus on family and her mental health, learning how to set boundaries, have energy and time, and actually enjoy her life as a busy nurse & mom.

This inspired her to create an online mentorship program designed specifically for Nurse Mamas to help them leave work at work, find time for themselves, and enjoy their beautiful lives again.

Sally has been married for seven years and has two boys, Rocky (5) and Sonny (2) that light up her life. She enjoys reading, cooking, gardening and yoga.
