Wed, 15 Jul 2026 - 46min - 1771 - D’Arcy Carden Talks Janet in ‘The Good Place,’ ‘Broad City’ and New Show ‘Five Star Weekend’
This inimitable, hilarious, and quip-tastic D’arcy Carden joins us on the couch for the first time to discuss her new ensemble show ‘Five Star Weekend,’ where she plays an over-eager pal with zero social awareness alongside stellar cast including Jennifer Garner, Chloe Sevigny, Regina Hall, and Gemma Chan, to name a few! But we also had to get into her iconic other roles, specifically Janet from ‘The Good Place,’ her early years juggling improv at Upright Citizens Brigade, and popping into numerous eps of ‘Broad City’ thanks to her fellow UCB crew Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson. Oh and nannying for none other than Bill Hader who she ultimately wound up on screen with ‘Barry’ alongside Henry Winkler. Phew. We also discuss her adoration of Maya Rudolph (another co-star), her cool as hell upbringing in the Bay Area, her love of Pearl Jam, her cry prep playlist, her appearances on ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and ‘Jeopardy,’ plus her special bond with Lenny Kravitz and just what The Smashing Pumpkins had to do with her changing the spelling of her name. Together they look back at the original show's legacy, where we left Trina, how the show came together, and what fans can expect as the story picks up — with a few familiar faces set to return.Beyond ‘HA’ Daniella opens up about balancing acting with raising two children, why Hallmark movies have become such a great fit for this stage of her life, and the changing entertainment landscape since she first dreamed of landing a Nickelodeon show. Other topics discussed: the ‘Victorious’ cast group chat, Trina's evolution, Daniella's audition for ‘Hannah Montana’ and ‘Chicago’ (she busts out some bars), an unexpected run-in with Tom Cruise, filming a McDonald's commercial as a vegan, whether Zach might finally make his long-awaited cameo in the ‘Victorious’ universe, and so much more. This episode is sponsored by AlexaPlus. Thu, 11 Jun 2026 - 52min - 1754 - Sarah Sherman Talks SNL, Connor Storrie and Comedy Special "Squirm: Live + in the Flesh"
Sarah Sherman has quickly become one of the most distinctive voices in comedy. Best known as a cast member on 'Saturday Night Live,' where her surreal characters, oddball sketches, and ongoing torment of Colin Jost have made her a fan favorite, Sherman has spent years building a devoted following on and off screen. With last year’s comedy special 'Sarah Squirm: Live + in the Flesh' — produced by Josh Safdie, Ronald Bronstein, and Eli Bush — the 33-year-old is letting her freak flag truly fly. The special is theatrical, confrontational, and profane, full of gory gags and visceral visuals. Think Phyllis Diller meets Pee-wee Herman partying with John Waters (who happens to intro the show). Sarah joins us to talk about building an hour of comedy from scratch, learning from her ‘SNL’ castmates, bombing in front of thousands while opening for Adam Sandler, and why roasting is sometimes easier than writing a joke from nothing. We also get into her Jewish Long Island upbringing, campaigning for Bernie Sanders, the influence of Phyllis Diller, her relationship with Colin Jost, the grind of producing dozens of sketches every season, and what it takes to keep pushing comedy into unexpected places. We kick things off by talking about her former college radio show… and how a particular avid caller wound up as her cohost, plus so much more. With Apple Creator Studio, it’s all yours for the making. Last time Teddy Swims sat down with us was back in 2022, pre-”Lose Control,” before the record smashing accolades and awards, before becoming a father. So it’s a big time catch up to see what he’s been up to since then and what life looks like on the other side of that success, the pressure and privilege of creating a song that people may sing for the next 40 years, and why all the awards, records, and milestones still pale in comparison to the power music has to connect people across generations. We also get into his new single "Mr. Know It All," and where things stand with his forthcoming album. As per usual the conversation goes much deeper too. Teddy opens up about learning how to become a father while living on a tour bus, the advice he's picked up from artists like Thomas Rhett and Chris Stapleton, and why therapy — both individual and couples therapy — has become such an important part of his life. We discuss break-ups, self-love, staring himself in the mirror, stretching his gauges, gardening, and upcoming music with Giveon. For more than four decades, Tommy Lee has been one of rock music's most recognizable drummers and personalities. Fri, 29 May 2026 - 1h 43min - 1749 - 6LACK Talks New Album "Love Is The New Gangsta," PRBLMS, Fatherhood and Young Thug
6LACK has always made emotionally intelligent music, and ‘Love Is The New Gangster’ is the latest installment in the evolution of Ricardo Valdez Valentine Jr. The Atlanta-raised, multi-Grammy-nominated artist pops into the studio for the first time to discuss his fourth album and the vibe is thoughtful and reflective. The 33-year-old opens up about numerology, purpose, shadow work, and the idea that simply writing about your pain isn’t the same as actually healing it. Deeply inspired by his two children (who grace the album’s artwork), 6lack discusses gentle parenting, understanding your own parents more deeply once you become one yourself, the shift that occurred when he cut off his locs (and the history hair holds), and why he feels like he’s on a very intentional path. We also talk Atlanta’s musical DNA, battle rapping with Young Thug as a teen, and then collaborating with him properly later on (and on this record), working with his partner QUIN (also the mother of his second daughter) on the track “Out of Body,” writing with your partner about your partner, working with Kehlani, Lil Tjay, Leon Thomas, Timbaland, Gorillaz and Elton John (on “The Pink Phantom”) — and why ‘Love Is The New Gangster’ reframes love not as softness, but as strength.Stream "Love Is The New Gangsta" ►►https://tinyurl.com/4vdyeywdSponsored by Ross — find your nearest store at RossStores.com.SUBSCRIBE to Our Podcast ►►https://tinyurl.com/48yfe4v5SUBSCRIBE to YT ►►https://tinyurl.com/5n8km55uFollow The Zach Sang Show:https://tiktok.com/@zachsangshowhttps://www.instagram.com/zachsangshow/https://twitter.com/zachsangshowhttps://www.facebook.com/ZachSangShow/ See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

It’s not every day a sitting governor stops by the couch. Gretchen Whitmer— the two-term Governor of Michigan, political lightning rod, and the politician affectionately nicknamed “Big Gretch” by the internet — joins us for a wide-ranging conversation that gets into both policy and personhood. We talk about the realities of leadership: her eight-year legacy, the philosophy of underpromising and overdelivering, making the business case for equity, and why understanding people’s motivations matters more than simply talking at them. She reflects on the formative experiences that shaped her — from early ESPN commentator aspirations to unexpectedly finding her way into public service, plus the intensely difficult period where her mother became seriously ill while she was newly married, moving house, and starting life as a state representative. We also get into healthcare battles, medical debt, aging parents, the Flint water crisis, abortion rights, tariffs, the kidnapping plot, parenting through political chaos, working with Donald Trump, and why she believes the antidote to apathy is action. Twenty-five years since her last solo album Linda Perry is back and swinging with a super vulnerable documentary and album, ‘Let It Die Here,’ a record that sees her parse her complicated relationship with her mother and her ultimate passing. Phil Dunster became really pretty famous during the pandemic, thanks to the feelgood vibes of ‘Ted Lasso’ which we all tuned into during the pandemic, investing in the character arc of braggadocious footballer Jamie Tartt and his *insert fire emoji* on-and-offscreen chemistry with Roy Kent, played by Brett Goldstein. (Please refer to Brett Goldstein and Phil Dunster being mostly straight for 6:53 which also discuss in the interview.)Although the 34-year-old isn’t back for ‘Ted Lasso’ season 4 (we talk about it), his career has gone from strength to strength, teaming up once more with showrunner and comedy genius Bill Lawrence (‘Scrubs,’ ‘Ted Lasso,’ ‘Shrinking’), for this new HBO Max comedy ‘Rooster.’ In it he plays the reprehensible Archie, and up himself Russian history professor who happens to be married to — and cheating on — Steve Carell’s daughter. Back on the couch after the runaway success of his last debut album ‘Angel Face,’ the 23-year-old returns with his new record ‘LOVE, LOVE, LOVE’ — not a concept album like his first, but a record that gets down to basics in terms of celebrating what really makes the world go round: Love in all its forms. The California-born, Nashville-based singer is reflective with regards to his influences — his grandparents, the Martin Luther King Jr. biopic ‘Selma,’ his French fiancée Devi, while also considering the effect of hookup culture and what you’re missing out on when the going gets tough.Swerving from the retro 50/60s stylings of ‘Angel Face,’ Sanchez decamped to Sweden to work with the Max Martin crew resulting in a big pop record with a 70s bent. Fri, 17 Apr 2026 - 1h 06min - 1734 - AJ McLean Talks New Solo Album, Backstreet Boys Biggest Hits, Sphere Shows and Sobriety
It’s been 16 years since his debut solo album and now AJ McLean is back with it’s follow up ‘my name is Alexander James.’ Of course it’s not like he’s been resting on his laurels since 2010: he’s a dad of two girls, for one thing, and The Backstreet Boys have been verrrrry busy, and they’re bigger than ever. We discuss the huge success of their Las Vegas Sphere shows and how it all kicked off back in Sin City 2017 when nine shows at Planet Hollywood stretched into 81!Wonderfully open and funny, McLean is more than happy to talk about the Backstreet Boys earlier years, recording their biggest hits in Sweden with Max Martin before Max Martin was the songwriting legend and producer he is today. He also reminisces about moving to LA back in the day and living in the same apartment complex as Britney Spears and Ryan Gosling circa the Mickey Mouse Club. Plus McClean discusses his twisty path to sobriety, the fights the boys have had, what he thinks of Blink-182’s iconic BB spoof and so much more.Stream "my name is Alexander James" ►► https://tinyurl.com/4bk95cwbThis interview sponsored by HBO Max! Slayyyter aka 29-year-old Catherine Grace Garner joins us on the couch for the first time to discuss her third album ‘Worst Girl in America,’ a record steeped in the heavy bass and synth-pop grooves of Justice, Ladytron, Daft Punk, Crystal Castles, The Cramps, Santigold, and Peaches. It finds the St. Louis multi-hyphenate in her 2010 bag. Channeling the hedonism of the era, ‘WGIA’ is hands-down her best record to date. Forever on up-and-coming lists, she’s over it: Slayyyter has arrived. We dive into her early years, navigating Catholic school and religious tats, hustling hard with no plan B, moving to LA in the pandemic on a whim, “Daddy AF” landing on the ‘Anora,’ soundtrack, and why there’s a song on the record called “Brittany Murphy.” Plus breaking toxic cycles, pop culture’s obsession with trauma, orca whales, styling herself, directing er videos, the story behind “Cannibalism,” and so much more. We’re thrilled to welcome Luke Combs to the studio for the first time ever to chat about his latest 22-track opus ‘The Way I Am.’ A fantastically humble, funny, and authentic human, we talk to the soon to be father of three about his beginnings, from wanting to be a homicide detective to being a bouncer and playing in bars; getting rejected from the voice to creating a grassroots fanbase and basically becoming the biggest country star there is! Later this year he’s playing three nights at Wembley. That’s 270k people!!We also talk about the truly transformative moments of his life, becoming a dad, meeting his wife (it’s a great meet cute), the epic ‘Fast Car’ cover, bending the ear of Tracy Chapman and then pulling her out of retirement to perform with him at the Grammys. We’re thrilled to welcome Spain’s Guitarricadelafuente, aka 28-year-old Álvaro Lafuente Calvo, to the couch, joining us to talk about his killer second album ‘Spanish Leather.’ Like his peers Rosalia and Nathy Peluso, Calvo began his career rooted in the romanticism and traditionalism of his home country — his debut album, 2022’s La Cantera stands as an homage to folklore. With ‘Spanish Leather’ Calvo dives into hedonism, sensuality, and vulnerability. He’s visibly and audibly more comfortable exploring his queerness, a journey that was sparked by his collaboration and friendship with Troye Sivan. He discusses all this plus his work with celebrated German photographer Wolfgang Tillmans, whose imagery perfectly complements the record. The spill the beans on what we didn’t see, who they were rooting for, their mindset in the pods and of course their close relationship with Soulidified. And yes Nori and Shade are still together. Why they didn’t wind up as a storyline on the show? We find that out too. We also dig in to the winding path they took to land on the show from stint on ‘The Voice’ and other reality show talent shows, Brianna time on the rebooted Mickey Mouse Club, individual solo endeavors and band ventures, time spent doing musical theater, and how Brianna’s recently passed grandma was probably (definitely?) communicating with her through a TV that was unplugged?! Fri, 06 Mar 2026 - 50min - 1719 - Piper Curda Talks Hoppers, Disney Channel's "I Didn't Do It," and Asexuality
Piper Curda joins us on the couch to discuss her biggest role yet: the voice of Mabel Tanaka, the starring character in Pixar’s new film ‘Hoppers.’ We’ll let her explain the plot but her character is an animal loving Japanese-American college student whose mind is transferred into a robotic beaver. Obviously there was a lot of beaver talk. But 28-year-old Curda has a rich and storied history with Disney, starting off as a kid acting in ‘A.N.T. Farm’ and ‘I Did’n’t Do It,’ so Disney lore is definitely a topic of conversation. We discuss how she got into acting, her upbringing amongst five other siblings — all of whom wound up in entertainment, Glory, Riley Major, and Saylor — and who were raised for a time on a military base (her dad grew up on the streets of Korea and went on to be the first Korean-American general in the army). We also go deep on the realities of acting, how during the pandemic and followed by the strike she wound up working a nine-to-five. They came third in Netflix’s ‘Building the Band’ — but as Liam Payne — one of the show’s mentors was quick to point out, One Direction also came third way back when. The most important thing is that the quartet found each other, and they definitely wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for this latest reality talent conceit: ostensibly ‘Love Is Blind’ meets ‘The Voice.’So meet Malik, Shade, Bradley, and Landon. Mon, 02 Mar 2026 - 1h 09min - 1717 - Amber Riley Talks Glee, Mercedes Jones Storylines, Dreamgirls & Dancing with the Stars
The iconic singer/actor/advocate Amber Riley joins us in the studio to discuss her work with the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS foundation, raising awareness for the HIV Is Not A Crime (https://elizabethtayloraidsfoundation.org/hiv-is-not-a-crime/) initiative which advocates for the modernization of laws because in 30 states HIV remains criminalized! Truly a shocking fact in this day and age. To date, The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation has successfully changed 33 laws across 12 states, but there’s still more to be done. While this is definitely a topic of discussion, of course we can’t have the newly 40-year-old talent (happy 40th!) in the hot seat without discussing her time on ‘Glee’ as Mercedes Jones and where Mercedes might be today. We find out about that pre-‘Glee’ Ryan Murphy pilot that was never green lit, and the bright and brilliant talent Naya Rivera. There’s plenty of questions that go deep thanks to our resident Gleek Kelsey (the tater tot storyline anyone?!).Plus we chat about her pal Jazmine Sullivan (casual), being a ghost singer (and what that is!), her time spent in the UK on West End performing in ‘Dream Girls,’ her game-changing stint on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and ‘The Masked Singer’ (in both the US and UK) — all hail the singing harp. We also find out what’s up with her solo singing career as RILEY. She’s in her YES era and we love to see it! We’re dropping this interview today, the day before HIV Is Not A Crime Awareness Day on February 28th — a significant date as it ties a symbolic bow to the closing of National Black History Month and the beginning of National Women’s History Month – two demographics that are disproportionately impacted by both the HIV epidemic & HIV criminalization. Fri, 27 Feb 2026 - 59min - 1716 - Baz Luhrmann Talks Elvis Presley, 30 Years of Romeo + Juliet, Leonardo DiCaprio and New Film "EPiC"
We were beyond thrilled to welcome Aussie auteur Baz Luhrmann on the couch! For 30 plus years he’s been wowing audiences with his fantastical, rich, music-heavy world-building — from ‘Romeo + Juliet’ to ‘Moulin Rouge,’ ‘Great Gatsby’ to his Austin Butler-starring Elvis biopic, and now he’s taking Elvis on an international tour via his new concert film ‘EPiC.’ In the process of creating 2023’s ‘Elvis’ Baz and his team unearth 50 plus unseen reels of footage from Elvis’ heyday, performing in Vegas in the early 70s. Alongside Peter Jackson’s team (who restored the Beatles footage for ‘The Beatles: Get Back’) and a coterie of experts, Baz brought the concert footage and backstage scenes back to life, painstakingly piecing together and syncing audio, and in some cases orchestrating the audio where it was lost. We get into all of that (and the accompanying soundtrack). The whole shebang is narrated by Elvis, in his own, hitherto unheard words, thanks to a 45 minute interview that also lay languishing in the Kansas salt mine vaults with the rest of it. After Elvis’ manager Colonel Tom Parker blocked him from going on international tours throughout his career, the King is finally hitting the road outside of America! And then there’s all the other stuff we talked about: Bowie, Mick Jagger, his love of abiding K-pop (and the genre’s connection with Elvis), his Oscar-winning wife and partner in crime Catherine Martin, 30 years of ‘Romeo + Juliet,’ working with Leonardo DiCaprio as a teenager and then a 30-something, roaming around Graceland when it was closed for business, his upcoming film about Joan of Arc (‘Jeanne d’Arc’), growing old disgracefully and so much more. Wed, 18 Feb 2026 - 1h 03min - 1713 - Avan Jogia Talks ‘Victorious’ and Beck, Engagement to Halsey, Dove Cameron and New Series ‘56 Days’
Even though Zach and Avan have known each other socially for 16 years, the pair have never sat down for a formal chat, but now the 34-year-old Canadian-British-Indian actor is in the official hotseat thanks to his new thriller series ‘56 Days.’ Playing the brooding, possibly dangerous, definitely tortured Oliver, starring opposite Dove Cameron, the Prime series is very much in the vein of 90s psycho-sexual classics like ‘Fatal Attraction’ and ‘Basic Instinct.’ The chemistry is combustible and we get into that, how he built the character, intimacy co-ordinators, morality gray areas, and more. Plus he chats about his beginnings in acting, how he snagged the role of heartthrob Beck in ‘Victorious,’ and his relationship with the cast to this day. We also dig into his more leftfield creative endeavors including working with arthouse filmmaker Greg Araki, screenwriting legend Charlie Kaufman, and his own screenplays and directing forays. And… his second poetry collection — ‘Autopsy (of an Ex-Teen Heartthrob)’ with its humor and satire, some of which might have been lost on readers. Naturally it’s impossible not to discuss his fiancée Halsey and their creative and romantic partnership too. As Nick puts it, it took two years to make the record but really it took 33 years. Mon, 09 Feb 2026 - 56min - 1710 - December 10 Talks Reality TV, Simon Cowell, One Direction Comparisons, and Debut Single “Run My Way”
Simon Cowell — label exec, talent reality TV judge OG, “bad guy,” perma-aviator sporting, tight top-and-high pant wearer etc. and so on — fancies a challenge. He wants to create a new boy band, one that will challenge the omnipotence of K-pop, a band that will put his name back in the cultural conversation. A lot is on the line. He scours Dublin, Liverpool, and London for plucky teen hopefuls. The initial response to his call for auditions is a little meh, but then the judges uncover some gems, albeit ones with strikingly similar haircuts. A thousand is whittled down to under ten hopefuls who battle it out for five spaces in the as-of-yet unnamed boy band and across the six episodes viewers start to really care about the journey of these wannabe stars. Cowell is torn! He ultimately plumps for seven members (in true KPop style) and so we have Cruz Lee-Ojo, Danny Bretherton, Hendrik Christoffersen, John Fadare, Josh Olliver, Nicolas Alves, and Seán Hayden. And know they’re on our couch. We find out a bit more about the septet: where they’re from, previous talent show accolades, what instruments they play, who loves school, who used to be a semi-pro soccer player, who almost pursued rugby full time. And of course we ask about Cowell, working with storied songwriters like Poo Bear and Savan Kotecha (Bieber, 1D, respectively), why Brits are so obsessed with breaking America, One Direction comparisons, squaring up to BTS, and so much more. Fri, 23 Jan 2026 - 1h 02min - 1708 - Remy Bond Talks "Backstage at the Tropicana," Summer Song, Lana Del Rey and Bateau Bateau
Remy Bond Crashing the golden globes party at chateau marmont - went on her own Remy Bond is a riddle. What’s true? What’s exaggerated? What myth is she making? What we do know is that her debut EP, Backstage at The Tropicana, is a transportive, bewitching collection. It samples Genesis, it recalls dreamy 60s girl groups, and ABBA. It’s Wall of Sound, it’s omnichord accented, it’s brass blasted. It features her breakout viral hit ‘Summer Song’ produced by the elusive Jean-Benoît Dunckel, one half of legendary French duo Air. How did she bag him? Slid into his DMs. This interview is a re-record. We had some audio issues with the first interview so she came back in and we uncovered that the gap in her two front teeth that she professed she had done in England recently, was actually a Sharpie-ruse. We find out about her childhood being raised in New York’s West Village, living next to Sean Lennon, and crashing the Golden Globes recent afterparty at Chateau Marmont where she met someone from Duran Duran who had quite a lot to say about The Weeknd.Plus we talk shrooms and creativity, her creative partnership with her sister Olivia and their time on Master Chef Junior, a stint in a psych ward after an encounter with Mel Gibson, the Japanese sex hotel featured in the ‘Skintight Jeans’ video, her film and music inspirations, those Lana comparisons, that Lana shoutout, and so much more. This episode is sponsored by HBO's Industry S4, now streaming Sundays at 9PM on HBO Max.Stream "Backstage at the Tropicana" ►►https://tinyurl.com/3udwxys2SUBSCRIBE to Our Podcast ►►https://tinyurl.com/48yfe4v5SUBSCRIBE to YT ►►https://tinyurl.com/5n8km55u See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Fri, 16 Jan 2026 - 58min - 1707 - Ella Anderson Talks "Song Sung Blue," Henry Danger, Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson
Ella Anderson has been acting for almost the entirety of her existence on earth. Still just 20 years old, the Michigan born actor and singer started off at Disney and then made the leap to Nickelodeon, playing Piper for five seasons before reprising her role in the movie last year. But in between the sitcom goodness, Anderson has been making a lot of interesting and challenging choices in film acting with legends such as Woody Harrelson (Sun Coast) and Brie Larson (The Glass Castle), not to mention the forthcoming drama Jesus Land opposite Juliette Lewis. Most recently she played Kate Hudson daughter in Song Sung Blue, a film based on a documentary about a Neil Diamond tribute duo — completed by Hugh Jackman who plays her stepfather. We talk about all this, plus acting with King Princess on the film as her stepsister, the nuance of building a character, particularly one based on a real person, how Disney was like boot camp, her parents morphing from classically trained musicians to Detroit techno scene makers, and so much more. This episode is sponsored by HBO's Industry S4, now streaming Sundays at 9PM on HBO Max.SUBSCRIBE to Our Podcast ►►https://tinyurl.com/48yfe4v5SUBSCRIBE to YT ►►https://tinyurl.com/5n8km55u See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Wild to think that Zach and Nat and Alex first met a whopping 18 years ago, so the rapport is set and a healthy roasting is delivered (largely from Alex) throughout. But they also dig into this new collection, which is both a vulnerable look back and a point of reflection. Additionally they discuss how playing Leonard Cohen (Alex) and Spiral Stairs, the drummer of 90s slacker heroes Pavement (Nat), in the films So Long Marianne and Pavements, respectively, influenced their songwriting, the stories behind “Backup Plan,” “Candyspeak,” and working with Billie Eilish on “Soft Kissing Hour.” Plus, the toxicity of child stardom, banana smoothies, fedoras, the genius of Cher, Mark Wahlberg, Cameron Winter, The Rock, Jumanji, cold plunging, the importance of living life unselfconsciously and out of the public eye, and so much more. Mon, 01 Dec 2025 - 57min - 1690 - Rita Ora Talks New Music, Avicii, Taika Waititi, Descendants and Fyre Festival Musical
It’s a been a minute — or six years — since we last caught up with Rita Ora and a lot has happened: she got married (to director Taika Waititi), she release an album (2023’s You & I), she’s hosted so many TV shows, and really gone deep with the acting (Queen of Hearts in The Descendants, opposite Brandy no less). We talk about all this plus her early years from interning at a London record studio to getting signed by Jay Z and moving to NYC, not to mention her dance roots, this new era and — oh my god — collaborating with Taika on (amongst other projects) a musical inspired by the hilarious catastrophe that was Fyre Festival with music by, wait for it, Adele (and her longtime collaborator/songwriter Paul Epworth). And this is just the tip of the iceberg because the Kosovan-born, British-raised, 36-year-old, multi-hyphenate extraordinaire has experienced so much. And she’s got some tips for turkey roasting. So nice to have her back.Chapters:01:24 - Early Career & UK Music Scene06:51 - Dance Music Roots & Club Culture13:19 - Working with Avicii & "Lonely Together"16:32 - Creative Process & Studio Setup18:28 - Pushing Artistic Boundaries21:45 - The Song "Joy" & TV Soundtracks27:45 - Relationship with Partner Taika Waititi & Creative Synergy31:01 - Fyre Festival Musical Project42:00 - Taika Waititi & Music Videos45:44 - New Era: "All Natural" & Artistic Identity49:07 - Overcoming Anxiety & Personal Growth52:01 - Looking Ahead: Future Projects & InspirationSUBSCRIBE to Our Podcast ►►https://tinyurl.com/48yfe4v5SUBSCRIBE to YT ►►https://tinyurl.com/5n8km55u See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Wed, 26 Nov 2025 - 53min - 1689 - Allie X Talks 7th Floor, Reunite, and New Album "Happiness Is Going To Get You"
It’s only been 18 months since we last had Allie X on the couch talking about her third album Girl with No Face, but she’s already back with her new, fourth record, Happiness Is Going to Get You — a quasi-concept things of wonder, a repetitive piano note which begins the album and rings out as its closing coda. A record that centers around the time traveling hirsute character that is Infant Marie, with songs that examine male emotional repression, reuniting with oneself, a shitty uncle as a metaphor for the music industry, and so much more. We talk about all this plus Allie X versus Allie Hughes, the beauty and sadness of trying to stay naive, songwriting for others, hard truths, suffering for one’s art, and most importantly how Allie is going to teach Zach how to sing. We talk about all this plus working with her bestie Orville Peck who jumps in on pod via phone, stepping into a co-production role, her fiancé Pinkus, her horse Constantine (and his ashes), plus two rounds of tonsillectomy — one of which punctured her lung! Noah also opens up about her journey with therapy and Borderline Personality Disorder dealing with loss and fear of abandonment, giving her parents grace and understanding, and working with XXXtancion. Mon, 17 Nov 2025 - 1h 04min - 1686 - Ejae Talks "Golden," KPop Demon Hunters and "In Another World"
Hot on the heels of our interview with Audrey Nuna — the singing voice of Mira in KPop Demon Hunters — we’ve got Ejae in the hot seat. Her journey to become the singing voice of Rumi is pretty different. The Korean-American singer spent 11 years as a trainee and was dropped before she debuted, ultimately finding her way into songwriting, via Tisch School of Arts, and even returning to the very KPop company who dropped her to pen hits for other acts like Red Velvet, Twice, and Le Sserafim. We get the skinny on what it was really like being K-pop trainee, why she was dropped, what Tisch was like (her classmates included Lauv, Phoebe Ryan, and Fletcher), and how she broke into songwriting, eventually leading to her writing the pop juggernaut that is ‘Golden’ (Grammy nominated!), not to mention a bunch of the other songs on the soundtrack. And let’s just say writing for film is very different than writing for a pop group. Rei Ami, Audrey Nuna, and Ejae have only recently started performing live together and Ejae’s still getting her feet wet when it comes to the stage — it can be panic-inducing — so we also get into that, plus her debut solo single ‘In Another World,’ and so much more! Fri, 14 Nov 2025 - 51min - 1685 - Kathy Griffin Talks Facelifts, My Life on the D-List, Donald Trump and New Comedy Special
Kathy Griffin needs no introduction. This fiery redhead has been making people laugh and causing a ruckus with her unapologetic tea-spilling celebrity anecdotes since the 90s. A self-proclaimed stand-up addict, she joins us in the studio for the first time ever — on her 65th birthday — to talk about her weekly YouTube show, Talk Your Head Off, and her new comedy special, also on YouTube, My Life On the PTSD List. The title is of course a play on her groundbreaking, Emmy-winning reality show My Life On the D List, which was one of the genre and era-defining Bravo shows in the 2000s, and now it’s also on, you guessed it, YouTube. All for free. We talk about all this, plus her new face (it’s her third), getting thrown out of Paris Hilton’s party, Kris Jenner, body dysmorphia, how she manages to maintain relationships when she’s always being so delightfully, hilariously, and publicly indiscreet. This woman has more comedy specials than any other comedian, man or woman! Plus we discuss Joan Rivers, falling out with Anderson Cooper, Andy Cohen, talking crap about Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen, dating Quentin Tarantino and Steve Wozniak (not at the same time). We also dig into what was the most seismic moment of her life: when photographer Tyler Shields snapped a shot of her holding up a rubber mask of Trump covered in ketchup. It sparked a chain of overreactions from the President that saw her put on the no-fly list and investigated like a terrorist. So much for free speech! It tanked her career for seven years, and led to a series of really dark periods with drugs and suicidal ideation that also coincided with her losing her mom, the pandemic, getting lung cancer even though she never smoked! Woof. It’s an album steeped in the 25-year-old’s classically trained background, her Moroccan-Canadian roots, and her romantic trials and tribulations. She joins us on the couch for the first time to talk about all this, plus her move from Atlantic to her own label, the carefully constructed union of sound and vision in her music videos, how an actual fever led to her song ‘Sweet Fever’ (and an insane sidequest to get to the mountains of Burbank), exactly how and why she’s wound up as the second biggest international streaming artist in China (behind Taylor Swift), and so much more!Stream "FILM NOIR" ►►https://stem.ffm.to/filmnoir See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Fri, 07 Nov 2025 - 1h 01min - 1682 - Hayley Kiyoko Talks Getting Engaged, Girls Like Girls, Lemonade Mouth, and New Novel
Lesbian Jesus — so anointed by her fans — is a force to be reckoned with. Artist, actor, director, dancer, New York Times bestselling author. It’s wild! And we’ve finally got her on the couch to discuss her newest novel, the Victorian-set, YA page-turner, Where There’s Room For Us. She discusses the novel’s inception — inspired by her meet-cute with her now fiancé Becca Tilley (of The Bachelor) — and we find out all about her proposal too. We also do some deep dives into her acting catalogue from Disney’s Lemonade Mouth to Jem and the Holograms, which was directed by John M. Chu! Jem was also where Kiyoko met Stefanie Scott who she cast in the ‘Girls Like Girls’ music video and who she ended up co-writing the screenplay for Girls Like Girls the movie… which is on the way. We discuss all of that, not to mention her upbringing in a creative household, the landscape for musicians these days versus even ten years ago, and also the landscape for queer artists, plus so much more. Wed, 05 Nov 2025 - 57min - 1681 - Cortis Talks GO!, FaSHioN and Debut EP "COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES"
CORTIS are not like other K-pop crews. Yes they ultimately trained like idols, but the quintet spent years within Big Hit Music as songwriters/producers for others — they knew of each other before they were actually brought together as a group (more on that in their interview). They only just debuted with their first EP Color Outside the Lines this past September and the collection pops. Featuring a stellar collaboration with Teeezo Touchdown, their songs like ‘FaSHioN’ (inspired by a trip vintage shopping on Fairfax in LA) showcase a harder edge, a certain nod to heroes Brockhampton, Odd Future, and ASAP Mobb, while ‘JoyRide’ offers a melancholy, emo-tinged vibe (despite the title). Most notably James, Juhoon, Martin, Seonghyeon, Keonho are humming with ideas, shooting and editing many of their own videos before blowing out the budget and heading to farflung places like the snowy mountains of New Zealand to make more MVs. By their own admission, they’re still teenagers (okay, James just turned 20), they want to have fun, eat good food, and go vintage shopping because full price designer threads aren’t exactly in budget. Songs about girls? Right now they’re not interested. We discuss all this and more on their first time on the couch. Definitely one of South Korea’s most exciting and authentic new groups. Fri, 31 Oct 2025 - 48min - 1680 - Justice Smith Talks 'Now You See Me,' Dungeons and Dragons, Pikachu, and 'I Saw the TV Glow'
Justice Smith has been carving a name for himself since his big break in Baz Lurhmann’s The Get Down (2016) as an actor who balances big blockbusters with hefty legacies and built-in fanbases (Jurassic Park, Pokemon, Dungeons & Dragons), with subversive indie films such as A24’s triumph I Saw The TV Glow with its broader trans metaphor, The American Society of Magical Negroes, and high school TV series Genera+ion. Now he’s joining the Now You See Me franchise with its latest instalment Now You See Me: Now You Don’t — alongside Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Ariana Greenblatt, Rosamund Pike — in which he plays a key role that could really run and run. He joins us on the couch for the first time to discuss this new film, heading to LA’s storied Magic Castle and training to be an illusionist for the role. Plus we find out more about his upbringing in Orange County, his biracial background, acting as catharsis and therapy, and the balance of art and commerce. Is he in the midst of his Saturn returns? Lukas Gage is everywhere. He’s in everything! White Lotus, Euphoria, Smile 2, Love, Victor, Fargo, the film of the year, Companion… and now he has a memoir out, I Wrote This for Attention, which, as you might imagine is a page turner. The San Diego-born actor only turned 30 this year, but he’s definitely lived a life so far. In the book (and on the couch) he covers his tumultuous upbringing, rebellion, drugs, rehab wilderness camp, and sadly abuse, plus his first decade in Hollywood, hustling hard and dealing with Borderline Personality Disorder, with the same candor and humor he comes to the studio with. If you’re looking for Chris Appleton, Kim Kardashian-officiated marriage tea, it’s mentioned briefly in the book, and we chat about it a bit here, but it’s really the least interesting part of his life and career. He also discusses getting his a$$ eaten on White Lotus, STDs, trust and abandonment issues, how he deals with BPD, getting accused of queerbaiting, mukbangs, Sam Levinson, eccentric older ladies, Noah Centineo, that viral video, and so much more. Tue, 28 Oct 2025 - 45min - 1678 - Julia Wolf Talks "In My Room," Twilight, Drake and New Album 'Pressure'
Long Island-born Julia Wolf has been dropping intimate confessionals since 2019, making waves in 2021 with catchy, synthy-pop cuts like ‘Resting Bitch Face Pt. 2’ and ‘Falling In Love,’ before signing to a major label and dropping her debut full length Girls In Purgatory that same year. In 2025 she surprised everyone by dropping her third album, PRESSURE, via AWAL. Not only was she back on her DIY hustle — she’s often produced her artwork and creative direction from her bedroom base — but Julia Wolf 2.0, with the help of producer Scro, has pivoted away from her smooth pop grooves to a tougher sound, incorporating distorted riffs, pummelling speed metal drums, and glitchy beats, with Wolf’s voice as the emotive, vulnerable glue. Think Paramore meets Evanescence. And yes there were plenty of industry naysayers who were like, what the hell is this new sound? But she stuck to her guns and just look at her go.She joins us on the couch to discuss this stylistic pivot and the wild whiplash of the past few years including the viral success of ‘In My Room’ blowing up on TikTok with a Twilight slideshow, exactly how Drake became a fan and collaborator, teaming up with Machine Gun Kelly on a Goo Goo Dolls cover and their upcoming arena tour. Plus we get into her abiding Twilight obsession (she played the Swan house in Oregon), deep-seated insecurities (‘Jennifer’s Body’ and what MKG thinks of a track that references his baby momma’s cult film), finding love, ASMR, feeling like a loser in high school, her Italian roots, leaving the East Coast for LA, and so much more. Fri, 24 Oct 2025 - 54min - 1676 - Mary Elizabeth Winstead Talks The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, Scott Pilgram vs. The World & Sky High
Mary Elizabeth Winstead has, so far, had a wildly diverse career, but there is one genre that continues to crop up again and again — horror/thrillers are definitely in the 40-year-old’s sweetspot. From her early days on witchy soap Passions to Wolf Lake to Final Destination 3 to 10 Cloverfield Lane to Black Christmas, Winstead loves the rush of being creeped out and freaked out. The North Carolina-born actor joins us on the couch to discuss her filmography, in particular her latest work, a remake of the 1992 classic The Hand The Rocks The Cradle, this time co-starring next gen scream queen Maika Monroe (It Follows, Longlegs), directed by Mexican filmmaker Michelle Garza in her first major studio motion picture. It’s domestic horror at its most intimate — channeling the fears and anxieties of new motherhood, while weaving in privilege guilt, and a haunting moral ambiguity. Which, as you might imagine for a new mother herself — Winstead has a son with husband Ewan McGregor — was not hard to identify with and tap into. We discuss all this plus action films, the cult of Ramona Flowers and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof, working with Bruce Willis as his daughter in two Die Hard movies, her critically acclaimed turn as an alcoholic groping towards sobriety in indie film Smashed, not to mention meeting Ewan on the set of Fargo the TV series, both of them working in the Star Wars universe, and her early years as an extrovert-turned-introvert finding an outlet in performance. Actor Madeleine McGraw joins us on the couch for the first time to discuss her return as Gwen — Finney’s protective younger sister from 2021’s Black Phone — now back for Black Phone 2. Ethan Hawke’s horrifying character, The Grabber, might have died in the first film, but he’s back too. Turns out his malevolent force can’t be contained by the grave. Originally based on a short story by Joe Hill — horror maestro Stephen King’s son — this sequel finds the siblings several years on from the first installment, now in a wild winter at a kid’s camp. This is a spoiler free episode. We also talk about the 16-year-old’s beginnings (lots of competitive sport), being a twin, moving into exec producing as well as acting, alongside her younger sister Violet (The Haunting of Hill House, M3GAN). Together they’re sometimes dubbed scream queens or the Blumhouse sisters (a nod to the horror production powerhouse). But hey, this December they’re producing and starring in a Christmas movie. We’re joined by Ashnikko IRL for the first time ever — prior to this it was a pandemic zoom — and she’s a trip, a delight. Decked out in all her finery, the 29-year-old discusses her latest album Smoochies, easily her best work to date. It’s smart, sassy, sexy, give no-f**ks pop, full of wild wordplay, vivid imagery, and hooks to high heaven. But for all its in your face-ness, Ashnikko’s the absolute master of sneaking vulnerability and realness into her party-pop juggernauts. We talk about all this, the connection to her last record DEMIDEVIL, how the body keeps the score, breakups and heartbreak hedonism, power dynamics within her own heterosexual and queer relationships, the moreish aspect of success, and the connection between her music and her carefully constructed visual aesthetic. We also discuss reclaiming sexual depravity from the patriarchy (obviously), the vibes of trinkets and junk, the birth of Ashnikko, f**k-me outfits, sword-making, how she sleeps with her eyes open, killing off a validation system that isn’t helpful (YES!), and so much more. Fri, 17 Oct 2025 - 55min - 1673 - Maggie Lindemann Talks New Album 'I Feel Everything,' 2022 and Working with The Warning
We welcome Maggie Lindemann back to the couch for the umpteenth time to discuss her finest body of work yet: i feel everything; a title which just happens to be tattooed on her forearm. By all accounts it’s been a tumultuous couple of years and a wild summer of fun, and she’s poured all her experiences into this cathartic second record, out on her own label Swixxzaudio. This time round she's mining 80s darkwave and collaborating with Max Fry, The Warning, and Julia Wolf. We discuss all this plus dive deep into the lyrics of her hyper-vulnerable, searingly honest songs (‘Spine,’ ‘Evil,’ ‘2022’). We find out the latest with her clothing line SWIXXZ, her recent horror movie picks, and how watching the film VHS opened a portal to let a poltergeist into her apartment.
