On a London street, Lord Harwood’s fate takes a curious turn as he is rescued by Bet and Peggy Sykes and begins his rehabilitation back at the Spicer’s semi-detached.

Months later, the streets of England are in turmoil as the gang war rages between the Ravens Society and the No-Name League. As the opposing factions look set to meet and hammer out a truce, a new assignment is on the cards for Martha Kane and Alfred Pennyworth.

But Alfred, still in turmoil following Esme’s funeral, turns the work down. Thomas Wayne is forced to look elsewhere, turning to Davy Boy to help murder Frances Gaunt the leader of the Raven Society.

Still wallowing in guilt and grief at his parents house, Alfred appears rudderless until John Ripper presents Alfred with an offer of another job that if completed will help to expose the murderer of Esme.

Midway through starters Davy Boy attempts his assassination but is shot by his intended target. Bleeding out on the floor another assassin comes for Frances Gaunt. As Alfred unmasks himself he rescues Davy-Boy before killing his target Julian Thwaite.

    Pennyworth Episode 3 Synopsis

    Episode Directed By: Bill Eagles

    Episode Written by: Bruno Heller

Alfred Pennyworth and Esme’s engagement is over after a bad meeting with Esme’s father who threatens to disinherit her if low-standing Alfred attempts to marry his daughter. Later that night at The Severed Arms bar Alfred is approached by a lady called Martha Kane who offers him an assignment. Elsewhere another meeting ends badly as Lord Harwood meets the Barber who tortures and removes his nose. After breaking him he is tossed onto the street, dazed, dirty and destroyed.

The next day Alfred picks up Martha and is told that the job is to assist in her rescue of a prized and persecuted scientist Ian Thurso. He has developed a highly advanced computational machine and the Raven Society want it. As they release him from the local police station they head to a disused US Air Force base to fly Ian and his boyfriend Sam to safety. But as the assignment becomes increasingly dangerous and Alfred is told Martha is working for the No Name Society, he must use his quick wits to save Ian from the Raven Society.

As Martha promises more work for Alfred, he and Esme attempt to make a fresh start in their own apartment. Somewhere in Northern England laying low from the law, a fidgety Bet Sykes wants to make it back down to London to also attempt a fresh start with Esme!

    Episode Written by: Bruno Heller

After the arrest of Lord Harwood and Betty Sykes, Alfred Pennyworth is approached back at the club by a grateful Thomas Wayne. He offers Alfred a job for his nascent security business. Alfred turns down the offer from the billionaire businessman, because the company he keeps almost had him and Esme killed!

At the Tower of London, the detained Lord Harwood is tortured and interrogated to find out who leads the Raven Society but with limited success. Elsewhere in the Tower, Bet Sykes has a different kind of interrogation by George one of her guards who is tricked into delivering her post. In Whitechapel, Alfred has accepted a new job from the landlord of the Severed Arms pub whose daughter is being harassed by the creepy and possessive Jason Ripper. As Alfred, Davy-Boy and Bazza set to work on Jason this new assignment puts Alfred firmly in the sights of Jason’s Uncle, the notorious Ripper of the East-end. The Ripper is persuaded by Alfred to give him the benefit of the doubt by showing that his nephew was a weak link in his crime organisation.

With the Pennyworth family back home sat around the telly with a nice cuppa, Alfred makes sure that Bet is executed at the Tower. But all Bets are off as Peggy Sykes comes to free her younger sister from the hangman’s noose.

Mr Alfred Pennyworth meet Mr Thomas Wayne

    Pennyworth Podcast Pilot Synopsis

    Episode Directed By: Danny Cannon

    Episode Written by: Bruno Heller

Alfred Pennyworth is just out of the army. He's still living with his parents and still dealing with the trauma of army life with his army mates Davy-boy and Bazza.

In the wider country opposing factions are threatening the stability and authority of the British Government. On the left the No-Name Society seeking a socialist utopia and on the right the Raven Society looking to establish a facist utopia.

Somewhere in the middle Alfred is keen to start his own security firm as he starts his first job as a bouncer at a Soho club. His first night is eventful. He meets an American, named Thomas Wayne, who after protecting his sister Practicia, exchanges his business details to expand his security enterprise.

Alfred also meets Esme Winikus, a dancing girl and actress, who he forms a romance with. However, his brief connection with Wayne becomes perilous as it tangles Alfred and a reluctant Esme into close contact with the Raven Society and their enforcer the mysteriously violent lady Bet Sykes.

Held hostage by Bet at the behest of the Raven Society’s leader Lord Harwood, Esme’s only chance is Alfred and the exchange of her for Thomas Wayne.

As the exchange goes down Alfred must use all his cunning, resourcefulness and his mates to rescue Esme, protect Thomas Wayne and defeat Lord Harwood and Bet Sykes. Petal.
