Kurt Money and Kateline breakdown the incredible story of Precious Doe, a child whose body was found in 2001 but not identified until 2005. Detective Bernard put his life and soul into this case and good on him, but the true hero, and all-star of the episode is easily...ALONZO WASHINGTON. Give it up for the guy who helped find Precious Doe's identity all the while producing a comic book with his picture on it. Oh, and have you ever wondered what the signifier of an identity was? Or if the face was the face of a person? Well, there's a talking head with a British criminologist that will rock your world.

Kurt Money has finally dragged Kateline to the wonderful world of Neighbs, and how thy entertain thee. This is perhaps our longest episode yet and that's because of the complete monster we discuss, Nova Scotia "denturist" Gabriel Wortman and the horrible acts he committed April 18-19th, 2020.

They might, because Netflix did a four-part docuseries on this case recently. Guess what, though? This 35 year old 22 minute episode tells the story WAYYYY BETTER. Oh and wouldn't you believe it, cops in the 1980s think for a hot sec that a satanic cult did the crimes.

Kurt Money and Kateline discuss a three-part documentary series from across the pond, the absolutely BANGIN’ The Body Next Door. A body wrapped 41 times is found in the garden of a four unit apartment complex. The body is only a few weeks old but can only be tied to 70-something Leigh Sabine. Only problem is…Leigh died the month before after a long battle with cancer. So who is the body in the bag and who put it there? This story unfolded in Beddau, Wales, in November of 2015 but the real story begins in New Zealand in 1969. Watch The Body Next Door on BBC Select. 

Kurt Money and Kateline discuss the terrible luck that respected pastor AB Schirmer has when it comes to wives. One wife, Jewel, dies by tripping on the vacuum. Nine years later, Betty (wife #2), takes off her seatbelt moments before dying in a head-on car crash in their 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser. This poor guy!! What are the chances?! And are those the only suspicious deaths in AB's life? NOPE!!

We tried to watch the repeat they played on Friday but it's still not on Peacock so we went back to the vault for a cold case classic about the murder of Lynne Friend in August of 1994. "Footprints in the Snow" is about the disappearance of Jonelle Matthews in Greeley, Colorado, in December, 1984 and the 35-year search for her remains and the person responsible for her death. There are a few possible suspects and while K$ and KL do not see eye to eye on who was arrested for the crime, they 100% agree that Jim Matthews, Jonelle's father, DID NOT DO IT!!!

Bryan Kohberger Facing Death Penalty For 2022 University of Idaho Murders

What's this?! A new iLH on a MONDAY?! That's right!!! This is our new pod drop date, Holtheads. This way we're only two days after the Dateline has aired. Plus, K$ has been completely forgotten by the sport of NASCAR and all those hiring edit gigs for it, so he no longer feels obligated to watch all three races every weekend. With that out of the way, let's talk about the University of Idaho murders in 2022 and about the trial coming up in 12 weeks that might end in a firing squad death sentence.

Early in the morning of November 13th, 2022, in Moscow, Idaho, a masked intruder believed to be Bryan Kohberger broke into an off-campus residence of four University of Idaho students and murdered them with a knife he bought off Amazon. The four victims were Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin. Kohberger was arrested a month later and faces a charge of first-degree murder. His trial is set to begin August 11th, 2025, in Boise, Idaho. 

In their May 9th episode entitled, “The Terrible Night on King Road,” Keith Morrison and Dateline reveal new information about the case like security footage of Kohberger’s 2013 white Elantra driving by the house numerous times before parking nearby and speeding away just 7 minutes later at 4:20am. Also revealed are Kohberger’s google searches around the time of the stabbing, including watching videos about serial killer, Ted Bundy, a remix of Britney Spears’ “Criminal”, searches for a KABAR knife on Amazon, and selfies of himself posing like Bundy. He idolized Bundy and other killers like Son of Sam, David Berkowitz. 

The prosecution will be pursuing the death penalty for Kohberger while the defense is planning on arguing that his autism diagnosis should remove that from the table. If he is convicted and sentenced to death, Kohberger will be the first inmate on death row in Idaho to be executed via firing squad since a new law was signed last Spring.

Real talk, Holtheads. Kurt Money and Kateline were not crazy about this episode of Dateline either. We hate having back to back misses, but here we are. Fear not! There is still a lot of interesting stuff to talk about (like the verdict reaction in court) and it is most likely just missing some info because Dateline did not have access to the prosecution, defense or the true crime show, Cold Justice, for their side of the story. This podcast episode is a blast, however, because even a swing-and-a-miss from Dateline is a true crime 7/10 for K$ and KL and they love talking about it. Plus, K$ squeezes in a killer Shaggy joke that he’s proud of. Hint…it WAS me! Boom, there’s another. 

This episode is about the death of Anita Knudson in June, 2007, in Minot, North Dakota. After her dad finds her body in her bedroom it takes almost 20 years to bring it to trial. And even then…the justice remains cold. One thing is for sure though, Tyler didn’t do it! 

Kurt Money and Kateline discuss the newest episode of Dateline, "The Devil's in the Details." Michael Cochran passes out, hits head and dies five days later. Was this an accident? A side effect of his steroid use? Or part of an elaborate plan (among many other side plans) at the hands of his grieving ex-wife, Natalie? K$ and KL were not crazy about this episode but they had a lot of fun discussing it. So maybe they loved it?!

Jasmine Pace goes missing in Chattanooga, Tennessee, during Thanksgiving 2022. Finding her is up to the police—lol, who are we kidding? They didn't do a thing. It was a holiday weekend, for crying out loud! Luckily the Pace family is here to step in and be the most badass family in grieving Kurt Money and Kateline have ever seen.

Kurt Money and Kateline discuss the newest Friday episode of Dateline about the murder of celebrity hairstylist Fabio Sementilli at the hands of his wife, Monica Sementilli and her lover, the former porn star/current sex offender boyfriend, Rob Baker. You might be thinking, hey what's with the spoilers?! But the title of the Dateline spoils who the killer is anyway and Kateline is NOT here for it.

Kurt Money and Kateline discuss the Dateline episode "A Walk Through The Woods" about the Delphi murders, the many suspects in the case including a guy named Anthony Shots, as well as a creep who works at a CVS who has a wife he's probably not happy with at the mome. AC hosts a dang good Dateline and Kurt Money and Kateline are speechless trying to figure out how a dude can give an interview on TV while working out at the same time.

Dateline revisits the case of Susan Smith and her two kids that she drowned in her car and then said for 9 days she robbed (of her kids) at gunpoint. This one is hosted by...Craig Melvin? Is he part of the Dateline crew?! K$ needs an introduction or something from Lester or this doesn't feel like a proper Dateline. Also, K$ and KL return to the song of the season, "WHERE IS MURPHDOG?!" and is he okay?? This was his case, dangit!

JMANK is back in the house, Holtheads, and Kurt Money and Kateline are happy to see him. That does NOT mean that we don't have a few bones to pick with the man or with the episode as a whole, because we do. You'll have to listen to find out but here's a little clue...it has to do with the repeated use of the word "Victim Plus." Kurt Money and Kateline discuss the absolutely bonkers story of Sante Kimes and her son/lover Kenny Kimes and the four dead bodies left in their wake. Not to mention at least....3 burnt down houses? Sure, she's got a murder trial coming up...but that's no reason not to audition for the role of a killer in a horror movie AND be super difficult on the set of a musical. And like Keith says in the episode, just like that..."A STAR IS BORN."

Kurt Money and Kateline breakdown the newest episode of Dateline, "Deadly Dance," hosted by Andrea Canning. In September of 2020, Ashley Benefield shot her ex-husband in self-defense. Or DID she? LoL. Also the episode is called "Deadly Dance" because some called this the Black Swan murder because Ashley was a former ballerina and, well, Natalie Portman played a ballerina in Black Swan who does not kill anyone. This is what we call in the business, a "stretch." Such a stretch, that K$ and Kateline both forgot to mention it at all! So that's why they don't talk about the Black Swan connection during the episode or even during their lists. It's 2017 and the legal drug dealers next door are out of town at a musical festival. So who is to blame? The Van Buren Police Department think they know who did it so they spend 3 solid years pinning it on the wrong guy. And it wasn't DNA, it wasn't a fingerprint, it wasn't an eye witness that had them so sure. It was a...lie detector test. That's it!!! This was an update of the wrongful conviction case against Christopher Tapp, another case against a guy named Dripps and quite possibly the most rollercoaster final 15 minutes of a Dateline in history.

Kurt Money and Kateline discuss the Dateline episode, "The Secret in Black Rock Canyon," about the murder of Cassie Jo Stoddart in September 2006. Guess what isn't a secret? That this Dateline was nothing but a repurposed episode of "The Last Day" minus 10 minutes. Brian Draper and Torey Adamcik idolize the 1996 movie SCREAM and do their best to duplicate the murders. By "their best" I mean murder one person, fail at destroying the evidence, and then confess while blubbering. K$ and Kateline are both annoyed and horrified at what went down on that fall Friday in Pocatello, Idaho. Also, Kill Bill Volume 2 and Jackass Number 2 topping the box office the weekend of the murder are discussed. How could you NOT listen?! Press play, holtheads!

This AC hosted Dateline was a solid episode enjoyed by both K$ and Kateline, even if the outcome of this trial is supes frustrating.

Kurt Money and Kateline discuss the January 4th, 2024, of Dateline, "The Room Downstairs." Rob Cantor's body was found in a house fire with a bullet in his head. He was killed in the same room downstairs that he consumated his relationship with Sophie Meneut. Did Sophie take out her husband? Or did Sophie's ex, Tony Tung, have a part to play in all of this?

Kurt Money and Kateline are back with a new episode, dropping on Thursdays from now on! This week they cover the December 2023 episode, "Down the Basement Stairs," in which Cara Rintala is tried (FOUR TIMES) for the murder of her wife, Annemarie Cochrane Rintala. Thanks to a flub on K$, both hosts refer to her as "Anna" instead of "Anne," for most of the episode. Future Kurt apologizes for it, so hey, we're cool legally speaking, but just know he knows.

Who is to blame and does their nephew cut their hair? Kateline knows this story from a 20/20 episode and don't worry, the pair spend a great deal of time detailing why and how Dateline is so much better than that show and all other shows.
