The President of the United States Donald Trump took to social media to criticize Pope Leo XIV for his disapproval of the war in Iran and the president’s directives on that. Tuesday, the U.S., and Iran reached an agreement on a temporary two-week ceasefire. Part of the agreement is that the Strait of Hormuz would be open to waterway traffic while the two countries continue negotiations. In the wake of the fragile ceasefire, only hours later, Israel conducted its largest coordinated attack on Lebanon killing and wounding hundreds, according to Lebanon's health ministry. Since that Israeli attack, the semiofficial Iranian news agency is reporting Iran stopped oil tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz as a result. The White House says what Iran is saying publicly is not what they committed to privately with keeping the crucial waterway open. The White House claims they have seen an uptick in traffic in the strait today and that it remains open...Will the ceasefire hold? Boston College political science professor Ali Banuazizi, who studies and teaches Iran’s social history and contemporary domestic politics, and foreign relations, grew up in Iran and understands the culture and mindsets of the Iranian people. Prof. Banuazizi checked in with Dan about whether he's optimistic that this fragile ceasefire will hold and his insight into this war from someone who understands the Iranian people as well as the American perspective having lived in the United States since the 1970s

The Massachusetts Department of Health wants to take away pepper spray and non-lethal restraints from Tewksbury State Hospital’s public safety officers. The state-run hospital has a large mental health patient population that includes criminal defendants who have psychiatric and behavioral issues. The hospital has a history of problematic incidents involving patients who’ve attacked healthcare workers. The nurses’ union that represents Tewksbury Hospital said the hospital’s public safety officers “absolutely need the tools” to keep the staff safe. MA Rep. After much of the airline industry was left struggling in the last month with unpaid TSA agents walking off the job or calling out sick due to the partial government shutdown where Congress could not come to an agreement on a DHS funding bill, some airlines are now taking retaliatory action. After nearly a month without pay due to the partial government shutdown, TSA agents received their first paycheck Monday after President Trump signed an executive order late last week instructing the Department of Homeland Security to pay TSA officers immediately. According to the DHS, nearly 500 of the agency's nearly 50,000 officers have quit since the shutdown started, which led to long security lines across the country. The president’s order comes during a busy travel time with Spring breaks for many schools and colleges in addition to this week’s Passover and Easter holidays. Cancer treatment advocates are asking lawmakers to support legislation (House Bill 4339/Senate Bill 809) that would ensure insurance coverage of comprehensive biomarker testing. This legislation has passed in 23 other states so far and Massachusetts appears to be falling behind on this... The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) volunteers, including survivors and patients from across Massachusetts, gathered on Beacon Hill to meet with lawmakers as part of its annual Cancer Action Day to urge them to support proposals that address the needs of cancer patients and reduce health disparities. While it's been confirmed that there appears to be no plans for ICE to come to Logan Airport or any other New England airport amid Trump’s deployment of ICE agents to airports nationwide, TSA agents have been walking off the job amid the ongoing partial government shutdown where agents are not being paid. Bonnoyer was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the death. The MA Parole Board has had a series of controversial paroles lately, this being the latest. The Board cited that Bonnoyer has multiple health issues and has been sober for 32 years with minimal disciplinary reports, and the last one was over 20 years ago. With that being said, is the release still warranted?
