With the World Cup in full swing, America’s 250th anniversary being celebrated, and the Tall Ships coming to Boston in July, Massachusetts is experiencing record-setting visitor numbers. Bradley welcomed Kate Fox, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism, to discuss upcoming events, including Sail Boston, where roughly 60 international tall ships and military vessels will arrive in Boston Harbor from July 11–16 for public ship tours and other festivities.

The court upheld his convictions on several other charges, including second-degree assault, witness tampering, falsifying physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse. The court ruled that the second-degree assault charge should have been separated from the murder case.

 A shocking and unacceptable incident occurred yesterday in South Boston when two masked juvenile suspects robbed an 11-year-old and 12-year-old's lemonade stand at gunpoint. According to the victims, the pair initially approached the stand and asked if they could use Apple Pay to purchase a drink before grabbing a cash box containing about $50. Boston police are still investigating.

A bill signed by Gov. Maura Healey will allow bars in Massachusetts to serve alcohol until 3 a.m. through July 31. At Ipswich High School, smoking a cigar after graduation has long been a traditional rite of passage. Because the use of tobacco products violates the rules of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association, members of the school’s boys lacrosse team celebrated with homemade imitation cigars instead. Despite the cigars being fake, several players were suspended, leaving the team without enough eligible participants and forcing a forfeit in the Division 4 state semifinal. Last night, a U.S. Apache helicopter was shot down by Iranian forces while conducting a patrol over the Strait of Hormuz. Fortunately, both crew members were rescued and are reported to have escaped injury. President Trump said today that the U.S. needs to respond to the attack, while Iran’s parliamentary speaker cautioned that the Islamic Republic would match whatever actions Washington takes next. President Donald Trump walked out of an NBC "Meet the Press" interview with Kristen Welker after she questioned him about compensation for alleged victims of government "weaponization" and challenged his claims that the California primaries and the 2020 election were "dirty" and "rigged." After a tense back-and-forth exchange, Trump said, "Let's call it quits because I've had enough," and left the set. Brian Shortsleeve is on a mission to fix what’s broken in Massachusetts. The former head of the MBTA is running for governor of Massachusetts and is focused on fiscal reform and government efficiency. At a recent press conference, Shortsleeve said that, if elected, he would block funding for the Legislature in an effort to force compliance with Auditor Diana DiZoglio’s probe, which was overwhelmingly approved by voters in 2024. The Red Sox demoted Brayan Bello, a starting pitcher after a series of recent struggles, including the final straw Thursday when the pitcher gave up 6 runs in the first inning alone against the Orioles. Bello is being sent down to Worcester's Triple A. The pitcher has been defensive when asked about his struggles and told reporters that he is not interested in working through his struggles in Triple-A Worcester saying, "I’m thinking about making my adjustments in the big leagues…I have a big-league contract, that doesn’t mean the bosses will take a position or not, taking that into consideration, but I’m a big leaguer...and I’ll make my adjustments here.”

The Trump Administration's National Park Service plans to remove three quotes from the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown. The quotes being removed include comments on slavery, war, and immigrants. The removal of the three quotes comes just ahead of the 251st anniversary of the monument on June 17th. Is the removal at all warranted or a clear depiction of censorship of American history? Sen. Do the risks far outweigh the benefits? We periodically see local news stories about a missing hiker in the woods or a local resident who got lost or worst-case scenario, died while hiking in the woods of NH, Maine, or MA. The last local story we saw was roughly a month ago of a West Roxbury man who was found dead 5 miles from his car up in Franconia Notch NH after seemingly getting lost hiking and unable to find his way back. With that being said, we ask, what’s so great about hiking? Some say it's the views that are worth it or immersing yourself in nature...can't you take in the views from a nice drive through the mountains on a main road? Or how about a walk through a local garden or park, isn't that immersing yourself in nature?

On Thursday, the MA Senate voted to turn over records sought by State Auditor Diana DiZoglio as part of her audit of the chamber. However, the 33-6 vote does not mean the Senate "concedes". In a resolution note responding to the Supreme Judicial Court's order, while they voted to turn over requested documents, they “do not concede” to an audit, saying if senators believe it’s unconstitutional, that the chamber could still object to an audit from DiZoglio’s office in the “present or future.” While this is a small victory for DiZoglio, her legislative battle is still not over. In addition, this weekend the Massachusetts Democratic Party’s 2026 Nominating Convention begins. It will be held in Worcester at the DCU Center on Friday and Saturday, May 29th and 30th. State Auditor Diana DiZoglio is expected to attend as are other members of the State Legislature that Diana has been "battling" with...Were there fireworks?

The town of Rutland, Massachusetts is cancelling their 4th of July festivities this year. There were original concerns that the decision to cancel was over funding availability or in response to some community viewpoints. However, in a joint statement, the Rutland Fire & Police Department, the Rutland 4th of July Committee, and the Town of Rutland said the decision was strictly made because of public safety concerns, citing staffing shortages. A recent study done by PNAS Nexus found that 37% of Americans reported losing a relationship with a friend, family member, romantic partner, or coworker because of political differences. That’s roughly four in ten adults who say politics ended a relationship in their life. A new bill is being proposed in Massachusetts by MAPLE, the MA Association for Professional Law Enforcement. The law would require applicants to the state’s police forces complete 60 college semester credits in a criminal justice, police science, or other degree approved by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST). The Cambridge City Council voted Monday to end the city’s use of ShotSpotter, a gunshot detection system that has drawn criticism from residents and councilors over privacy concerns and potential data sharing with federal authorities. We discussed another case of a Massachusetts incarcerated individual who was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole when they were 17, a juvenile back in 1995, who is now seeking parole since their conviction occurred before the current law that bans life without parole sentences for people under 21. Gerard McCra III, now known as Kuluwn Asar, murdered his family 33 years ago after his parents told him he was not allowed to have his girlfriend sleep over the house...Asar was originally sentenced to 3 counts of first-degree murder, three life sentences without the possibility of parole. After about 5 weeks of combat between the U.S. and Iran that started on February 28th when the United States and Israel launched airstrikes against Iran, killing its supreme leader and targeting military and government infrastructure, we now are coming to the end of a 6th week of ceasefire with Iran. The poll reveals that the top two issues for residents are the cost of living and affordable housing. In 2020, the Cambridge Memorial Drive shooter, Tyler Brown, was convicted of firing over 13 rounds from a handgun at police officers and sentenced to five to six years in state prison. Prosecutors at the time originally called for a sentence of 10-12 years. Gov. Maura Healey is criticizing the MA judge, Judge Janet Sanders, at that time a Suffolk Superior Court Judge, for the light sentence she gave Brown saying, “the judge provided a sentence that was way too low. And that’s a serious problem. There’s no way he should have been receiving that sentence. He should have received a much stiffer sentence.” Dan agrees with Gov. Healey. A new poll published this week by NewsGuard/YouGov, finds that nearly one third of Americans (30%) believe that at least one of the three attempts on President Donald Trump’s life over the last two years was staged. Of the 1,000 Americans surveyed, only 38% believe that all three assassination attempts were authentic. Do you believe any of the assassination attempts were staged? If so, why? Monday afternoon chaos erupted when a 46-year-old man carrying a rifle started walking down Memorial Drive in Cambridge and randomly opened fire towards people along the Charles River and motorists driving by. The shooter is believed to have shot between 50-60 rounds before being shot by a state trooper and a Marine veteran. Two drivers were shot and critically injured. We discussed the latest on this incredibly dangerous situation that erupted on Memorial Drive, that some witnesses are describing as being like a video game with the gunman “shooting all over the place” and “blood everywhere.”

Political analysis Jon Keller joined us to discuss the GOP gubernatorial primary race here in Massachusetts between candidates Mike Minogue and Brian Shortsleeve. Shortsleeve has been challenging Minogue to a debate for months and thus far, Minogue has brushed Shortsleeve off. While Minogue had a roughly 70% convention endorsement to Shortsleeve’s roughly over 15% endorsement, Shortsleeve is still an opponent worthy of debating.
