In this episode of Pearls from the Seerah, we continue the discussion about the Dajjal, the False Messiah, and the great trials that will appear before the end of time.

The Expeditions to the Prophet ﷺ & the Story of Tamim al-Dari

In this Seerah class, we continue our journey through the life of the Prophet ﷺ by exploring the delegations (wufūd) that came from across the Arabian Peninsula to embrace Islam after the conquest of Makkah.

In this episode of Seerah, we cover one of the most powerful stories of repentance, sincerity, and steadfastness: the story of Ka’b ibn Malik رضي الله عنه and his absence from the Battle of Tabuk.

Unlike the hypocrites who fabricated excuses, Ka’b chose complete honesty before the Prophet ﷺ. His truthful confession led to one of the greatest tests of his life. The Prophet ﷺ commanded the Muslims to boycott him and the two other companions who had stayed behind. For fifty difficult days, they endured isolation, emotional hardship, and immense pressure, even receiving offers from foreign rulers seeking to exploit their situation.

Despite the severity of the trial, Ka’b remained firm upon faith and refused to compromise. Eventually, Allah revealed verses in the Qur’an declaring His acceptance of their repentance, turning their hardship into an everlasting lesson for the Ummah.

The Battle of Tabuk was not just a military expedition — it was a test of faith, sincerity, sacrifice, and patience. As the believers prepared themselves in extreme heat, long distances, and difficult conditions, the hypocrites began spreading discouragement, mockery, and doubt among the Muslims.

Some mocked the believers for giving charity. Others stayed behind and made excuses. Some even insulted the reciters and companions of the Prophet ﷺ, leading Allah to reveal verses exposing their hypocrisy forever.

Why was Surah At-Tahrim revealed? What really happened when the Prophet ﷺ distanced himself from his wives?

In this episode, we explore the background behind Surah At-Tahrim (Surah 66), and the events that led to its revelation.

The Prophet ﷺ, out of consideration and kindness, chose to prohibit something permissible for himself in order to please some of his wives. Allah ﷻ then revealed:

**يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ لِمَ تُحَرِّمُ مَا أَحَلَّ اللَّهُ لَكَ تَبْتَغِي مَرْضَاتَ أَزْوَاجِكَ ۚ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ**
“O Prophet, why do you prohibit what Allah has made lawful for you, seeking to please your wives? And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” (66:1)

We also cover the incident where the Prophet ﷺ withdrew from his wives for a period (known as **الإيلاء**), after certain matters occurred within the household. This was not out of anger alone, but a form of discipline, reflection, and wisdom.
