The Darkling Chronicles - Real life ghost stories

Something crawled across the ceiling… and it certainly wasn't a spider.

This week on The Darkling Chronicles, we're heading into the wonderfully disturbing world of Reddit, where people have been sharing their own encounters with things that really shouldn't exist. And believe me, some of these stories are enough to make you reconsider sleeping with the lights off.

We've got a terrifying figure crawling across a bedroom ceiling, a murdered grandfather who apparently wasn't quite ready to leave, and a Ouija board that revealed some rather unsettling information about a dead child. And that's just a taste of what's waiting for you.

From haunted homes to unexplained visitors and encounters that have stayed with people for years, this episode is packed with stories that will have you questioning every creak, shadow and suspicious noise in your house.

As always, I'll be bringing these accounts to life with a little storytelling, a healthy dose of curiosity and the occasional moment of wondering why on earth anyone would stay in these houses. 😂

So, get yourself comfortable, grab a cuppa and perhaps leave a light on. Just in case.

👻 Have a ghost story of your own?

I'd love to hear it! Send your experiences to thedarklingchronicles25@gmail.com and you might hear your story featured in a future episode.

👻👽 Ghost stories, alien mysteries and everything supernatural!

In this special episode of The Darkling Chronicles, I joined Dan and Steve from Boo-Foons Mystery Investigators on their podcast for a wonderfully spooky chat about all things paranormal!

Dan and Steve invited me along to talk about The Darkling Chronicles, my love of ghost stories and my fascination with the unexplained.

But the conversation certainly didn't stop there! We also explored their own thoughts and perspectives on ghosts, aliens, supernatural experiences and some of the bigger mysteries surrounding our world.

It's a lovely mixture of storytelling, curiosity, different opinions and plenty of laughs along the way. After all, put three people together who love talking about the paranormal, and we're bound to go off on a few tangents! 😂

A massive thank you to Dan and Steve for inviting me onto their podcast. I thoroughly enjoyed our chat, and I'd love for you to show them some support!

👻 Ouija boards, disappearing children, terrifying creatures and something sinister lurking in the darkness...

In this week's episode of The Darkling Chronicles, we're returning to Alan Tigwell's book for one final collection of seriously spooky stories!

Tonight, we're exploring terrifying Ouija board experiences, mysterious disappearing children, encounters with what witnesses describe as demons, strange, towering dog-like creatures emerging from the woods, a haunted pub and the eerie legend of Happy Valley.

And just to clear something up before anyone gets confused... 😂 When I'm telling the Happy Valley story, I mention Janet as though she's telling us the story herself. It's actually Alan recounting the experience as Janet originally told it to him. Clearly, I got a little too invested in the storytelling!

📖 A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALAN TIGWELL!

I've thoroughly enjoyed sharing these wonderfully creepy stories with you, and I'd like to say a massive thank you to Alan for allowing me to read from his collection.

In tonight's atmospheric episode of The Darkling Chronicles, I'm reading another collection of spooky stories from Alan Tigwell's book, with the sound of rain falling in the background.

Among tonight's tales is the unsettling story of a mysterious little girl whose giggling is heard in a bedroom... along with plenty more strange encounters and unexplained experiences.

So turn the lights down, grab a cuppa and get comfortable. The rain might be relaxing, but I'm not making any promises about the stories. 👀🌧️👻

What happens when the life you planned does not work out?In this episode, I speak with Ripley from Smokey Quartz Readings about the pressure we place on our imagined ‘Plan A’ and the fear that can take over when life suddenly leads us somewhere else.We talk about breakups, uncertainty, tarot, trusting your intuition and the difficult question many of us ask ourselves: am I actually on the right path?Ripley explains how the loss of Plan A does not mean that everything has gone wrong. Sometimes, what we call Plan B is the path that brings us back to ourselves, the present moment and what we truly need. This is an honest and reassuring conversation for anyone who feels lost, is struggling with change or is trying to work out what comes next.To book a tarot reading with Ripley, visit:https://linktr.ee/smokeyquartzreadings

What if our dreams are trying to tell us more than we realise?

In this slightly different episode of The Darkling Chronicles, I sit down with Elliot for a fascinating conversation about dreams, consciousness, premonitions, spirituality and the bigger questions surrounding life and our experiences.

Elliot explains how he uses trance to explore dreams, going beyond the obvious imagery to search for deeper meaning and consider what our dreams might be showing us about situations we're experiencing in waking life.

We also explore the idea of connecting with a higher power or deeper source of guidance, particularly when we're facing difficult situations or searching for answers in our lives.

And the conversation certainly doesn't stop at dreams. 👀

We talk about premonitions, aliens, the creative essence, life, spirituality and the teachings of Silver Birch, along with plenty of other wonderfully strange places our conversation takes us.

🔮 DREAM & PREMONITION WORKSHOPS

Elliot runs workshops exploring dreams and premonitions, including ways of examining your own experiences and considering what they might mean to you.

If you're curious about your dreams, have experienced something you believe may have been a premonition, or simply want to explore these subjects in greater depth, you can contact Elliot directly to find out more about his workshops:

📧 aleph1workshops@gmail.com

This conversation isn't about telling anyone what they should believe. It's about staying curious, exploring our experiences and being open to asking some very big questions.

So get comfortable and join us as we explore the secret world of your dreams... 🌙✨

🔥 The fire is crackling, the lights are low... and I've got some seriously creepy ghost stories for you tonight.

This week on The Darkling Chronicles, i'm trying another atmospheric soundscape as I settle in beside a crackling fire to read a collection of real paranormal stories.

And then there's Tapey.

A terrifying old ventriloquist doll with matted, greasy hair and a broken jaw held together with masking tape. Yes. He is every bit as delightful as he sounds. I thought this only existed in a Goosbumps episode 🫨

Tapey features in one of tonight's stories, alongside plenty of other strange, unsettling and downright creepy encounters.

So get yourself comfortable, stick your headphones in if you fancy it, and enjoy the sound of a crackling fire while I take you through another collection of stories from people who claim to have experienced something they simply couldn't explain.

So get comfortable, turn the lights down and listen to the rain while I read a collection of real paranormal stories from Alan Tigwell's book, accompanied by a gentle ambient rain soundscape.

Get yourself comfortable, listen to the rain…

Tonight on The Darkling Chronicles, I've got three real paranormal stories for you, and there are some seriously creepy moments in this one.

We begin with a family who slowly realise that their daughter may have accidentally brought something home with her… and whatever followed her doesn't seem particularly keen on leaving.

Then, a childhood sleepover takes a terrifying turn when a boy wakes to something pulling the duvet from his bed. What he sees is bad enough, but it's the rancid smell accompanying the shadowy figure that makes the encounter even more disturbing.

And finally, imagine seeing your friend, thinking nothing of it, and carrying on with your day…

Only to discover that when you saw him, he was already dead.

Tonight's stories were written by Alan Tigwell, and I'd like to give Alan a massive thank you for allowing me to share them with you. I absolutely loved reading these and we'll definitely be returning to Alan's stories for more episodes.

Tonight on The Darkling Chronicles, we're heading back into the darker corners of the internet for another collection of allegedly true paranormal encounters...and there are some absolute horrors in this one.

A family laughs about the ghost haunting their apartment until something happens beside their four-month-old baby's cot.

A man grows up in a house with decades of unexplained activity, including a smiling figure watching from an upstairs window.

A seven-year-old hears a mysterious voice tell him not to walk down the stairs... moments before something violent happens below.

And one man meets an old friend for lunch before suddenly remembering one rather important detail...

His friend is dead.

We also have shadow figures, apparitions, unexplained voices, a VERY jealous ghost and plenty more things that frankly have no business wandering around people's houses.

I went deep into Reddit to find the creepiest real-life horror stories… and these genuinely stuck with me.

A military firearms team investigates a haunted location, thinking they’re prepared for anything…until something violently throws a ceramic plate at them and one of the men becomes possessed.

A man inherits a painting his grandad made for his late grandma. But after bringing it home, strange things begin to happen…

A woman moves into a new house and starts noticing things aren’t right. While showing her mother-in-law around, the blinds move on their own and a door slams shut with force.

And finally… a young man playing his N64 late at night turns around… and sees something smiling at him that definitely isn’t human.

What if your worst nightmare didn’t stay in your dreams?

In this chilling episode, we dive into true creepy stories sourced from Reddit that will stay with you long after the lights go out…

A girl begins having vivid, lucid dreams… until one night, a tall, thin man steps out of her closet, walks slowly toward her sleeping body… and does the unthinkable.

But that’s only the beginning.

A jacket vanishes without a trace, leaving behind more questions than answers.
A ghostly woman is seen sitting silently outside a family home…watching. Waiting.
A theme park ride takes a turn when someone disappears…
And a young girl is relentlessly taunted by a demon that invades her nightmares with terrifying threats.

These are not just stories. These are experiences people swear are real.

Something ancient was disturbed…and it didn’t stay behind.

In Ireland, Fairy Rath (also known as fairy forts) are said to be protected by forces we don’t fully understand. Locals warn never to interfere with them…but not everyone listens.

In this video, I share a chilling true listener story about what happened after visiting a rath. What started as curiosity quickly turned into something much darker…unexplained banging in the house, pots and pans clashing, and even a table moving on its own.

Was it a coincidence…or did something follow him home?

In this episode of The Darkling Chronicles, we step into the shadows of one of England’s most haunting landscapes…

“The Wailing Witch of Epping Forest.”

Said to echo through the trees after dark, her cries have unsettled visitors for generations. But what happens when someone hears her… up close?

This chilling story, originally shared on Reddit, is one that stayed with me long after reading it and I think it will stay with you too.

Alongside it, I’m sharing one more eerie ghost story to keep the atmosphere lingering just a little longer…

Growing up in rural Lincolnshire, surrounded by centuries-old farmhouses and buildings dating back to the 1600s, he and his family experienced a series of strange and unexplained encounters over many years.

From mysterious figures appearing in daylight…
to footsteps on the stairs with no one there…
to objects moving across rooms and voices heard when no one was present.

Some of these experiences were witnessed by multiple members of the family.

Others still have no explanation at all.

And yes… before anyone mentions it… I realise the background image is the wrong way round.

I’m new to this and apparently ghosts aren’t the only thing haunting this video… my editing skills are too.

Stick with me though. The stories are the important part.

Sleep Paralysis, Night Terrors & the Thin Line Between Faith and Fear

In this episode of The Darkling Chronicles, we explore one of the most disturbing and misunderstood human experiences: sleep paralysis and night terrors.

I share and react to real Reddit stories from people who have experienced terrifying episodes where the body is frozen, the mind is awake, and something feels present. From shadow figures and pressure on the chest to whispered voices, dark entities, and overwhelming fear, these accounts blur the line between science, spirituality, and the unknown.

I also expand on my personal thoughts around religion and how faith, belief systems, and demonic interpretations have shaped the way these experiences are understood across cultures. Are these moments simply neurological glitches, or do they connect to something far older and more spiritual that humans have tried to explain for centuries?

If you have experienced sleep paralysis, night terrors, or something you still cannot explain, I would love to hear from you.

Listener discretion advised. Some stories may stay with you long after the episode ends.

In this episode, we’re sharing real ghost stories sent in by listeners.

It begins with Tonya’s pub story, where her brother’s girlfriend saw a figure waving behind her in an upstairs pub window. She thought it was Tonya’s dad.
It wasn’t.

You’ll also hear from a woman who, on the first night in her new home, felt hands clap right beside her ear while she was alone.

Next is a story shared by MusicLover on TikTok, about their mum’s encounter with a gentle gypsy girl, peaceful but unexplained.

And finally, one of the darkest stories yet. A listener describes an evil man forming within smoke, a presence that felt deliberate and deeply unsettling.

All stories are real. All sent in by listeners.

Alton Towers is known for its rides, its screams, and its crowds.
But long before it became a theme park, this land was already steeped in history.

In this episode of The Darkling Chronicles, we explore the forgotten past of Alton Towers, from its ancient origins and ruined mansion to the ghostly encounters reported by staff and visitors after dark.

You’ll hear a firsthand account from someone who worked inside the Towers during Halloween Scarefest, alongside other unsettling experiences shared over the years. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, these stories raise one question… why does this place feel different once the gates are closed?

Black flies in winter. Footsteps in empty rooms. Medical staff watching a child do something that should not be physically possible. The Ammons “Demon House” case is one of the most modern, most documented, and most divisive hauntings in recent history, with police, child services, doctors, and a priest all pulled into the same nightmare.

In this episode of The Darkling Chronicles, we go through the case like a documentary, not a campfire story. Witness statements, reported incidents, and the uncomfortable analysis in the middle, where it stops being entertainment and starts feeling a bit too real.

If you like your paranormal with evidence, controversy, and the kind of dread that sits in your chest afterwards, you’re in the right place.

Step inside the ancient stone walls of the Tower of London, where every corner holds a story and every shadow feels just a little too alive.

In this episode, we uncover chilling tales from one of the most haunted landmarks in the world, including a true ghost story shared by Colette, a former freelance hairdresser for the Beefeaters' wives. While working near the White Tower, Colette experienced something unforgettable... something she still can’t fully explain.

From centuries of dark history to real-life encounters that will make you sleep with the lights on, this episode takes you deeper into the Tower than most dare to go.

Press play if you’re brave enough. 👻

In this episode, I take a step away from the usual ghostly tales to share something a little more personal: why I first fell into the world of the paranormal. From childhood moments that never quite made sense to the strange, comforting pull of the unexplained, this off-piste detour gives you a glimpse behind the stories and into the heart of why I do what I do. If you’ve ever wondered what draws someone to the shadows, this one’s for you. Turn the lights down, get comfortable, and let’s go back to where it all began.

In this episode, Justin takes us down The Haunted Lanes of Hartland, where he and his mates stumble upon something they’ll never forget. Then we visit The Haunted Cauliflower, where Helen recalls the eerie happenings inside a centuries-old pub that refuses to rest. And finally, Welsh Sarah tells us about The Man on the Stairs - a story that starts with curiosity and ends with a terrifying bang at the door.

These aren’t just stories…they’re experiences that linger long after the lights go out.
