In October 2015, we put out the very first episode of the Plaidcast, covering the Pilot of Supernatural. We showed up with enthusiasm, trepidation, a background in literary criticism, a single page of notes, and zero recording experience. We worked hard to keep our episodes concise, because who wants to listen to English teachers ramble for over 70 minutes? 10 years and 230 podcast episodes later, much like the later seasons of the show, all restraints have been abandoned! :) To celebrate our 10th anniversary, we decided to rewatch the episode that started it all, with a new appreciation for Sam's bangs, shadowy public libraries, and Eric Kripke at the helm. Though we are not under contract with the WGA or SAG-AFTRA, out of respect for their mutual strikes we are going on hiatus to stand in solidarity with the writers and actors whose work we so deeply admire. We recorded this episode as a way to celebrate the incredible contributions of the Supernatural writing staff. While it does technically discuss struck work, we believe it is in the spirit of promoting the writers and their cause. This is definitely not an exhaustive list! Many of the hallmarks we praise in this episode are the result of a collaborative effort on the part of the entire Supernatural writing team, not just individual writers. Together they created the show that we love so dearly. :) We would love to hear from you! Email: theplaidcast@gmail.com Facebook: www.facebook.com/groups/theplaidcast
