The penitential psalms, of which Psalm 6 is an example, are often raw and transparent as they convey the writer’s anguished cries for God to extend mercy and forgiveness. While the psalm begins with David’s fear that God is disciplining him or has even turned His back on him, a dramatic change takes place as David makes a thrilling discovery about the nature and character of our loving – and kind – heavenly Father.

Facing the most difficult day of his life, David wrote Psalm 5. Though surrounded by enemies, he found hope and refuge in the mercy and lovingkindness of God. He was thus able to start his day with a shout of joy at the sound of the trumpets! In this message we discover with David that God puts His shield of protection and favor around those who love and trust Him.

You’re called to be God’s “troubler.” So many great events in the story of God’s people took place on a mountaintop. From Elijah calling down God’s fire on Mount Carmel to Noah’s experience on Mount Ararat, God leads His followers to the summit to show them something new and unexpected that could only come from Him. God’s calling you to a unique and intimate experience of His presence. So don’t stay stuck in the valley... you were made to climb!
