The lives of young people today are full of uncertainty and stress. They are making decisions on relationships, schooling, and career paths and then there is the stress of the pandemic and social disconnection.
Wendy Van Dam focuses on helping young women in the millennial generation live their life fully through trusting divinity. Wendy (Ms. Divinity) shares her own life path and how she got caught up in other people's expectations. She talks about how she was living roles she thought she wanted but she still didn't feel satisfied with her life. She said she felt like a "robot" going through the motions. She eventually sought out a business coach who helped her "bring her soul alive" through learning how to trust divinity. She felt empowered to create her own life and leave her limiting beliefs behind.
Ms. Divinity helps young women find and pursue what makes their spirit soar. She is a mentor who helps young people follow their heart in choosing their career and life path. Wendy talks about "turning the lights on" in your beliefs and spirituality and to trust in your higher power and the spirituality that lives in you. Listen to inspiration about what your higher power is calling you to. Ms. Divinity invites people to become the next best version of themselves. She helps them create a vision of "what would I love." What are your gifts and talents you can use to bless the lives of others? What does it look like to Dream Big? Wendy teaches people how to ALLOW GRACE into their lives to change them for the better. She inspires people to let go of judgement and cocreate with God. To step out in faith and trust their higher power.
"You put in the work and let your higher power do the rest." This is a powerful message for challenging times as these.Wed, 09 Dec 2020 - 177 - Are You Happy in Your Heart? Podcast: Nothing is Wrong With You - Everything is Fine

Sun, 28 Jun 2020 - 176 - Seeing Your Body as a person, not an object
Holly is a Certified Master Level Coach through Health Coach Institute and helps highly driven women build resilience to toxic beauty and diet messages. She uses an intuitive and spiritual approach that guides her clients towards self trust, confidence and Sovereignty over their entire being; body, mind and soul. From this place, her clients are able to make self guided decisions and finally live the life they desire in the body they live in today.
In this episode Holly shares her personal journey with her body image beginning with dieting at the age of 8 years old to try to change her body. Holly talks about cultural messages that condition us as women with a message that you need to "stay pretty, stay conventionally attractive, stay small." The 70 billion dollar beauty industry promotes women being dissatisfied with their looks. Holly shares how she chose a career in fashion a highly "image centered" industry and found herself struggling with disordered eating and dissatisfaction with her body that led to digestive issues, hair loss, and anxiety.
Holly describes her obsession with eating healthy and struggling with orthorexia and constant worries and fears about what she ate. She talks about how it influenced her quality of life, relationships, and mood.
Holly loves to help people transform beliefs and teaches her clients "Intuitive Eating" which focuses on a healthy sustainable relationship with food. Holly shares how she helps women see their bodies as a "person" and treating it as a friend and rejecting cultural messages of being "not enough."
Holly believes if we get out of the way of our body (stop trying to manipulate and change it) the body can self-regulate weight and health. Our body is our greatest teacher, our partner instead of our enemy. Holly began identifying her body as a person and felt less "hate" for her body. Holly helps her clients personify their body and honor it, naming the body, and exploring where body dissatisfaction comes from. She says hating our bodies is about conditioning and culture. We have been literally fed (pun intended) a system of beliefs (diet culture) that values weight, size, and physical characteristics above health and wellness. Holly shares her 4 part framework for loving the body we are in from 1) awareness 2) nourishment 3) resilience 4) sovereignty/freedom.
It is possible to make peace with food and accept your body just as it is. Find community, support, and education through as Holly calls it a "homecoming" to who you truly are.

Where does health start? Is it in your gut, your brain, your body? What if it all starts in your mouth?
For the past two decades, Janice King has carried out extensive research on oral health and its connection to systemic deseases. Together with co-founder Dale Winetroub, Janice developed a breakthrough patented oral therapeutics system: TRI-OLOGY (used and recommeded by dentists for 10 years). “TRI-OLOGY” technology addresses a key risk factor linked to chronic diseases - inflammation.
Janice informs us about the importance of balance in our gum health in having the right balance in the microbiom and necessary bacteria in the mouth. Janice says that for years we have been using products for our hygiene that are full of chemicals that kill good and bad bacteria as well as destroying human cells.
Janice talks about how in our quest for improved health we must look at what we put into our mouths. She says that we need healthy saliva to heal our bodies and ultimately influence our overall health. She shares the research on how chronically inflamed tissues and bacteria in our mouth can contribute to arthritis, cardiovascular disease, infertility and the plaque in the brain found in Alzheimer's disease.
When bacteria overgrows and your gums aren't healing then problems arise causing systemic disease. Janice will share with us how eating nutrient dense foods and using natural products can improve dental health and give you strong healthy gums.
We damage our gums when we brush our teeth with hard bristles and put cuts in our gums that need to be repaired. After 40 years old our salivia condenses and our gums no longer get the nutrient rich saliva to repair our gums.
Janice will give us tips on things to take out and put into your oral hygiene routine to improve the health of your gums, mouth, and ultimately your body and brain. This includes organic whole plant products to improve gum health.Sat, 01 Feb 2020 - 170 - Dream Driven Goals for 2020
What are your New Year's Resolutions? What do you want to BE, DO, or HAVE in 2020? It seems like every January we are excited to leave the old year behind and start anew. We are motivated and ready to make change. When February comes we lose our steam and our inspiration and all our goals go out the window. Does it have to be this way? Can we find consistent motivation to not just reach our goals, but transform our lives?

When you act as if has already happened and put yourself in the feeling of what your goal will GIVE you it creates change. Create a vision for what you life looks like, get into the picture of what it will look like, feel like, and be like and you will help your brain create it. Have fun exploring who you are, what is possible, and who you want to be in 2020. What is in it for you?
Can you cut out the noise, be still, and explore what path is right for you? Christine talks about the grounding effects of meditation and stillness to remind us who we are and what we are meant to do. What turns you on and lights you up? What is your purpose? Enjoy your journey in 2020!Sat, 18 Jan 2020 - 169 - Love Your Face
Am I beautiful? Am I as beautiful as others? What does being beautiful mean?
Loving ourselves is a life long journey. For many women the subject of beauty can be painful. Rachel Buchanan has a long history of supporting women's health. After having an Acupuncture practice emphasizing natural remedies for women's health she noticed how each woman's environment, including her beauty and personal care products, were effecting her physical health. Rachel reports clients being diagnosed with diseases where the environment contributed to the decline of their health. Rachel shares about how many beauty products contain harmful ingredients and there is a lack of government regulation in personal care products. This led Rachel to finding a natural beauty product line that advocates for skin health in Washington D.C. Our skin is the largest organ in the body and absorbs whatever we put on it into our system. Rachel reports that 90% of products have not been tested for human safety. She feels it is a basic right to have access to safe products for all people. When we have the education about what we are putting on our skin we can make better choices. Rachel's passion is to help women feel beautiful and to be educated to make choices in their personal care products that can support and promote their overall health and well-being while also helping women accentuate their natural beauty.
Rachel shares the transformation she has seen in people's health as they use "clean" skincare products. Rachel believes that along with eating healthy, exercise, and managing stress we need to be aware of what we put "on" our skin that goes into our body. Rachel loves to help women who have health issues be able to put on natural makeup to feel good without any negative effects.
Start simple trying new products by taking care of your beauty and health from within you by changing how you think, and what you put in and on your body.
Rachel believes "beauty comes from the Inside" and that you feel more beautiful and joyful when you spend your days doing things that recharge you. Nurture yourself and share your beauty with the world!Fri, 03 Jan 2020 - 168 - BiOptimize your Gut and feel Better!

You are what you eat, right? So if you want to be strong eat the strong foods. If you want to prevent disease, impact aging, and improve your mental focus, clarity, and mood, eat superfoods! What are superfoods anyway?
Melissa Lambson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Energy Worker, and promoter of holistic health and nutrition. Melissa has always believed that what we put in our body influences our brain chemistry. She became really passionate about this when her 6 year old son was diagnosed with Autism. As a mother she was looking for anything she could to help her son improve his physical and mental state. She tried diet modification, pills, and behavioral interventions. Melissa's quest led her to learn about the inflammation of the brain effected by poor nutrition. She discovered that our soil is depleted and our food doesn't have all the nutrients we need. Sometimes our bodies can't absorb what we do eat.
Melissa was introduced by her nurse practitioner to something new. A superfood supplement with power foods like wild Alaskan blueberry, Ashawagnda, Wild Alaskan salmon, Kale, Spinach, and many other foods packed with nutrients that penetrate the blood brain barrier and reduce inflammation. When Melissa started her son on this liquid superfood she noticed a stark difference in his behavior and ability to connect to others. Melissa tried it out for her acid reflux and after 7 year was able to sing again.
Melissa shares with us how stress impacts the body and how superfoods can boost the body with the vitamins and minerals we need. She will share with us the characteristics of fish oil, vitamin E, and tocotrienols that help people have clarity of mind, improved mood, and overall improved quality of life. Listen as Melissa explains how superfoods help with healing trauma in the brain, addictions, memory loss, and other brain based issues. Melissa will give us some "food for thought" and what you hear may change your life and health for good.Thu, 14 Nov 2019 - 166 - Core 7, Fitness Elevated

Integrating skilled physical therapy with the latest advances in modern pain neuroscience, McKay Murdock offers a personalized and empowered approach to your health and healing, with a special emphasis on helping people with chronic pain conditions.
McKay’s treatment approach has evolved and expanded with time and experience, being informed by both western and eastern medicine philosophies. He is a doctor of physical therapy, board certified as an orthopedic specialist, received postgraduate training to perform dry needling (a deep muscle technique using acupuncture needles), regularly performs spine and joint manipulations (similar to chiropractic adjustments), and uses other soft-tissue techniques such as myofascial cupping and IASTM. Skilled hands-on treatments can be very effective in restoring healthy movement and catalyzing your body’s natural healing process. However, McKay is always intentional to not allow a relationship of dependency with these modalities. True healing happens from the inside out. It’s an active, patient-driven process. Careful attention is given to empower the patient during every step of the process, so the healing is both thorough and sustainable.
Chronic pain is an issue for many people and it often gets in the way of having a good quality of life. McKay says how people view their pain can determine what kind of life they live. He shares how many people may view themselves as a "victim" to their bodies. The body feels like an enemy rather than a friend. McKay asserts that our relationship with our body may be strained and that our body may not trust us to care for it. McKay shares his own experiences with chronic pain and anxiety and how reconnecting to his body helped him see suffering differently and heal his body. He says that how we view our experience can help us heal or keep us stuck. McKay helps his clients be an observer to what is going on in their body, mind, and spirit. He helps them shift negative energy patterns and connect wholeheartedly with their body. He believes the body must feel safe in order to heal and balance itself.
McKay believes in enjoying life fully and freely. He loves his work and loves witnessing life-changing transformations in his patients.Mon, 07 Oct 2019 - 164 - True Love Skin Care, Natural Skin Care

Happy Love Month! How do you show your kids you love them? Do you buy them gifts, give them experiences, or cuddle on the couch? Amy Roskelley is a mother of 3 kids who has a passion for health and nutrition. Amy believes that one of the greatest gifts we can give our children is to teach them healthy habits. But how do you get your kids to eat broccoli?
Amy started her business, "Super Healthy Kids" to teach children how to notice what their body needs and to make choices that satisfy those needs. Amy created a "healthy plate" for kids with 4 sections 1) fruit (fiber) 2) grains (energy) 3) veggies (minerals) and 4) protein (muscle).
Amy wants to inspire balanced eating for children and teens and empower them to make their own food choices. Amy discusses what processed food can do to our brains and how when we eat whole foods we improve our physical and mental health. Amy says that her healthy plates challenge kids to make choices on what they eat based on the 4 basics. Amy shares her own story and struggle with weight as a child. She talks about how balance is the key to a lifestyle of health. She says we can empower our children by helping them problem solve what food they may need and what is missing in their diets. Instead of "telling" our children what to do we are giving them the information to make their own decisions.
Amy says that parents can make healthy eating part of their family "culture" and that it doesn't have to be a "fight" if we give our children choice and control. Amy shares with us creative and easy ways to help children eat mindfully and intentionally. Amy says we need to make eating an enjoyable experience where we are present without distractions. Amy has a passion for helping people love and accept their bodies with imperfections and flaws. We don't eat so we can look a certain way, but so we can feel like we are "the best version of ourselves." Meal times can be a time of community and close connection with our children.
Amy will show you how to avoid diet crazes, make food your kids with love, and how to prepare healthy meals for busy teens.
We are role models of our children's eating habits. Talk to you kids about what they like to eat, ask for meal ideas, and have fun creating nutritious and delicious meals together.

Ryan put a "line in the sand" for 2019 to make his health a priority. He shares with us tiny habits and goals that he is working on this week. Happy 2019! It's a New Year! A new year to make resolutions, set goals, and decide what you want in this new chapter of your life. What do you want for yourself? What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? What is possible? How can you make your dreams and goals a reality?
Carey Conley is a successful Entrepreneur, Motivational Speaker, and Vision Coach. Carey shares how important having a clear "Vision" is in achieving your goals. You must know where it is you want to go. Carey tells us how the Vision must be compelling and "leap off the page in living breathing color." It's a picture of what you want to be, do, and have. What experiences do you want to have? What resources do you want to create? Who do you want to become? What lifestyle, relationships, and income do you want?
Carey guides us to visualize 3 years down the road what we want to be doing and experiencing. How old will your children and parents be? Where will you live, travel, what values will you live?
Carey shares how "the vision came first" that enabled her to create several businesses and a life she loves. Vision boards and vision statements are good, but not enough. According to Carey the Vision works only when it is 1) Crystal clear 2) Written out 3) Has target dates 4) Includes taking action.
First you tell your brain what is going to happen, by when (with dates), and you make the effort then your brain goes to work to make it happen. Carey says when we know what we want we can "reverse engineer" our goals with small daily step by step actions.
Carey suggests creating a vision in several areas of life including faith, family, fitness, finances, and foundation (character). Carey explores how fears hold us back from reaching our goals and we may lose sight of the clear vision of what they want. Carey encourages us to be quiet and still in order to explore what it is you are meant to do.
Carey explores how the people and environment around us can impact our ability to achieve what we want. She discusses respect, boundaries, and getting accountability from others. Carey will show you how to make your "hopes and dreams become action and achievement."

Merry Christmas everyone! This is the most Wonderful and often the most Stressful time of the year. It can be a time of joy and sorrow, a time of overwhelm and happiness. What brings you joy this time of year?
Our focus for this month's podcast episodes is on "Gifts your Give Yourself." In this episode, Camille, founder of Wellness Wisdom, explores how we can let go of negative beliefs, and patterns. Camille explores our need for Self-Compassion in Health. It's easy for us to beat ourselves up when we overeat, stop exercising, or don't handle stress well. Camille shares how we can love ourselves through the journey of health. She talks about ways to combat our "inner-critic" and to stop the shame cycle. Camille explains the tenets of Self-Compassion as defined by Dr. Kristin Neff, a psychologist and researcher one of the leading experts on Self-Compassion.
Camille shares her own struggle with shame and disgust from the inner critic about her body image. She discusses what influences the inner critic and how she combats this voice in her head daily. Camille talks about how we can give ourselves compassion by; 1) Recognizing and validating our suffering 2) Acknowledging everyone suffers 3) Giving ourselves love kindness and compassion as we would a good friend. (Self-Compassion Break by Kristin Neff Ph.D.).
Camille believes self-compassion is necessary to find success in changing your health and habits. Camille says all humans make "mistakes", especially when they are trying to change something about themselves. Compassion means focusing on your resilience, your ability to notice something is hard, and to get up again when you fall. We show compassion all the time for those we love, but it's often most difficult to show this to ourselves. Camille walks us through positive health affirmations to prime your brain for success in 2019. Camille believe's that each of us has within us the answers to our problems, that we must give ourselves compassion, be courageous, and recognize how our thoughts influence our actions.
Self-compassion may promote healthy behavior by reducing negative emotions in the face of small setbacks and by “encouraging the positive emotions necessary to maintain motivation during the pursuit of health goals" (greatergood.berkeley.edu).
Camille will guide us through a "Loving Kindness" Meditation to increase positive emotions, empathy, and compassion for ourselves and others.
"You yourself as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection."

The struggles of perfectionism, poor self-image, negative thoughts and mental struggles affect all of us. When we look around we see a “mental wellness epidemic” in our society including; bullying, suicides, PTSD, self-harm, and immobilizing anxiety and depression. It doesn’t have to be this way!
Amanda Kjar Wilkinson knows the struggles of mental strain, experiencing postpartum depression and the loss of a child helped her recognize mental distress as part of the human condition. We live in the "Digital Age" with technology becoming more and more sophisticated and necessary. We carry around "smart" phones in our pockets that can do everything from giving you detailed driving directions, to measuring your heart health, to diagnosing a leaky window. It's incredible and as a result many of us our "glued" to our cell phones all the time. It becomes a habit.
Habits are formed by having some kid of a cue or reminder for a behavior, completing the behavior, and then getting a reward for the behavior. The reward reinforces the behavior, so we keep doing it. We get a notification on our cell phone (cue), we check our email (behavior), and we feel loved or important (reward). While habits are hard to break, many experts say that cell phone usage is out of control and becoming an "addiction."
While this is alarming for adults, it is even more detrimental for our children and their developing brains. “I am Perfect Just the Way that I am.” -McKenna, 16Mon, 12 Feb 2018 - 14 - Love Yourself, From the Inside Out
We live in a culture that tells us that "thin is in" and that weight loss is always positive. In a $60 billion diet industry, we are inundated daily with ads of tall, thin, and seemingly sophisticated women. The message implies "you too can look like this" if only you take this drink, wear these clothes, try these pills, or start this diet. These kinds of media messages can be damaging for women and influence how we view our bodies.
In this episode of Wellness Wisdom, I interview Wendy Jensen, Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Inside Wellness to discuss the pitfalls of our diet culture and how to help women shift the way they think about themselves and their bodies. Wendy is a mental health therapist who specializes in helping women with eating disorders to live a more connected and fulfilling life. She guides people to "heal" negative internal dialogue about their bodies and to reject diet culture by recognizing strengths and wholeheartedly accepting themselves.
Wendy has seen how people can live a more fulfilling life when they are able to love themselves regardless of their body weight, type, or size. She emphasizes the importance of challenging cultural messaging that supports being dissatisfied with our appearance. We can challenge these messages and claim who we are, show gratitude for our bodies, and focus on what are bodies can do, rather than what they look like. When we spend mental energy dieting, worrying about our weight, and beating ourselves up for imperfections, we rob ourselves of the connections and happiness we can have in our lives.
