- 222 - Performance vs. Identity
It's human nature to want to achieve. To be seen and known and admired. We stack ourselves up against one another through work and relationships and accomplishments. And those very things are where we're all tempted to put our identity, to seek satisfaction. And maybe that's you too, and maybe it's left you feeling if there's more to life, if there's something you're missing. In Mark 10:17-31 we're introduced to a young man who ask Jesus what so many want to know: what do I have to do to get eternal life? And Jesus, looking on him with love like He does us, answers him. This passage shows us the importance of what we give our hearts to and what we put our identity in. Listen in as Rob takes us through this passage.

- 218 - Jesus as Pursuer: How He Draws the Prodigals Home
In Luke 15, we see the story of the Prodigal son and how he looks for satisfaction in all the wrong places. If you’re familiar with the story, you know he’s welcomed home by a loving and gracious father that gives us a picture of how our heavenly father loves us. A detail that often gets overlooked is how the older brother responds to the Father’s grace towards his wayward son. Listen in as Robert shows us how there’s a lesson for all of us in the story of both brothers. We all have a Father who wants to meet us with grace and welcome us in, whether you’ve strayed and feel far off or are tempted to put your worth and identity in doing things the right way.
Wed, 01 Nov 2023 - 217 - Compassion Instead of Condemnation
John 8:3-11 is a story that shows us that Jesus is compassionate. Not just in His forgiveness of our sins but in how He calls us to live. Even in our worst moments, when He could meet us with condemnation, He instead looks on us with compassion. Does that truth impact your day-to-day? Jesus knows and cares for you more deeply than anyone else. Your relationship with Him doesn’t have to be marked by guilt or shame. Nothing can separate you from the love of Christ. Not your own opinion, not the words or actions or intentions of others, and not even your worst moments. Listen in as Robert unpacks this story and what it means for us.
Thu, 05 Oct 2023 - 216 - Jesus Sees Us, Accepts Us and Transforms Us
Acceptance is something we all desire. And we look for it in all sorts of places. But we were designed to find true acceptance and full satisfaction in Christ alone. In Luke 19, we see a story of Jesus seeing, accepting and transforming someone no one would have bet on. Praise God, He does the same for us. Listen in as Ben unpacks the story of Zacchaeus and uses it to show us how being seen and accepted by Jesus can transform your life.
Thu, 07 Sep 2023 - 215 - What the Story of Hosea Teaches Us about Worship
The story of Hosea paints a beautiful picture of how God pursues us. We are prone to wander. We settle for far less than God's best. We are quick to choose things over God even when they lead to destruction. But God, in His kindness and mercy, pursues us and restores us. Listen in as Ben unpacks this beautiful story and how it reflects the heart of God.

Thu, 02 Mar 2023 - 214 - What the Prodigal Son Teaches Us about Worship
We were created to worship, but we are prone to worship and put our hope in things that were not designed to satisfy. The story of the Prodigal Son found in Luke 15:11-32 shows us what it looks like to chase after things that won't satisfy us, fulfill us, or meet our ultimate needs, and how God meets us in that when we're far off. We have a God who designed us for a relationship with Him and He makes that available to us through His son Jesus Christ. God welcomes us in so we can be His sons and daughters and be fully satisfied as we worship Him.

Wed, 04 May 2022 - 208 - Is Jesus the Only Way? | Exploring Doubts About the Exclusivity of Christ
Is Jesus really the only way? In a post-modern world where truth is a moving target, how are we supposed to navigate the claims of all the world religions? And if Jesus Christ really is the only way to get into Heaven, is it mean and exclusive of God to take away the option of a more customizable religion?

To what degree do our convictions shape our politics? How do we maintain unity when it feels like people around us are increasingly hostile? Join us as Ben steps into a conversation on what to do when our minds run to worst-case scenarios that can divide us rather than to Christ who can unify us.

Mon, 20 Sep 2021 - 198 - Who You Say I Am
We're constantly asking ourselves who we are. We develop, work on, exercise, mature, educate and refine ourselves; and we ask a lot of questions along the way. But the reality underneath all of our personal development and refinement is that we actually started with something broken that we're desperately trying to fix. Join our conversation as we ask the question: Who do you say that I am?

- 192 - Reconciled for a Reason | To Know and Be Known

Thu, 19 Nov 2020 - 191 - Fluent in Grace and Truth | To Know and Be Known
A community built solely on a grace is a lopsided community. Is grace of monumental importance? Yes. But a community also needs truth.
Wed, 21 Oct 2020 - 190 - Naked and Unashamed | To Know and Be Known
So much of the Christian life is spent pretending to be who we think we should be. We talk a big game about vulnerability. And while we might be transparent from time to time, we’re rarely truly vulnerable.

- 177 - Mental Health: The Bible and the Brain
There is a big difference between guilt and shame: Guilt says, "I made a mistake." Shame says, "I am a mistake."
When we find ourselves struggling, what do we do? Last night we began a discussion about mental health. It wasn't all-inclusive, but it was a great reminder that our experiences matter because they shape the way we view God, and that we can make a choice to allow the gospel to rewrite our false narratives.
If you find yourself struggling, it's ok to reach out for help! In addition to Christ Chapel Soul Care, here are some local counselors Josh mentioned that we work with in the Fort Worth area:

Wed, 06 Nov 2019 - 172 - How to Ruin a Perfectly Good Relationship: Treating Singleness Like Garbage Rather Than a Gift
Although relationships naturally develop our character, we shouldn't wait for a relationship to develop character in us. Our culture sometimes treats singleness like garbage rather than a gift. But our perspective doesn't change the actual value of the gift as God designed it.
Wed, 30 Oct 2019 - 171 - How to Ruin a Perfectly Good Relationship: Be Bad at Friendships
You can't forgive and forget, but you can forgive. Why are we able to say this? Perhaps it's because we've been forgiven of infinitely more than we can even fathom! We asked you to consider what's keeping you from having the relationships that you desire. Could it be that you're being a bad friend?
