There's a gap between the older and younger generation is a deep topic. The older generation has their experiences, wisdom and demands, while the younger generation has their own peculiar perspectives, ideas and challenges. Many times, there's a bit of a clash because of the differences in values, beliefs and time of achievements of certain life goals; marital settlement, career balance, financial stability, etc. It's like trying to find a balance between respecting the wisdom and demands of the older generation and embracing the fresh ideas of the younger generation, while also understanding the challenges peculiar to their age in working towards achieving certain balances in life.

The older generation has this wealth of experience and knowledge, while the younger generation brings in new energy and ideas. Sometimes, the clash happens because of differences in values, beliefs, technological advancements, patterns of relationships, etc. It's important to find a way to bridge the gap and learn from each other to find a balance that will enable a peaceful co-existence between these two generations.

Many times, we as Nigerians have been told by fellow Nigerians not to promise morality, uprightness and accountability if we occupy political positions, till we get there and occupy those positions. This thought process (due to unending experiences from different administrations in power) is one many Nigerians have, occupying their minds. Many have concluded that because of what we as citizens have suffered for so long in the hands of bad leaders, they desire to be in these positions of power to get their share of the national cake first, sort themselves and their loved ones very well before even thinking of attending to the needs of the people they are meant to lead.

Even people with genuine intentions for the country are hardly trusted or believed because the dominating experience is that people get into power and the need of the people they are to lead becomes secondary to them.

Many citizens have become Self-Centred on their reasons for wanting to occupy these leadership positions or positions of power, and this has brought about the dominant question on this episode of ‘HEY, Let’s Talk; HAS BAD LEADERSHIP MADE US (NIGERIANS) SELF-CENTRED?

RED FLAG 🚩 !!! A ubiquitous term used in today’s world to describe characters, traits, behaviours or attributes that could be toxic to another person or party in question, particularly from relationship perspectives.

Red Flag is often used to depict what people wouldn’t be able to put up with in a person they probably see as a potential spouse and as such, conclude on being incompatible with such a person.

With this knowledge, it’s safe to say that we people have become more aware of what they wouldn’t want or wouldn’t be able to put up with in a potential spouse or partner. However, can we then say that people are ‘TOO CONSCIOUS’ of red flags in the opposite gender these days, so much that all they look out for (the most) are traits that will help them easily write someone off as qualified for a spouse or partner? Do we think that there is so much focus on the negative side of human beings rather than the positive (especially in this context of relationships)?
