Thu, 22 Oct 2026 - 39min - 481 - The Murder of Melanie Road: The Killer Who Hid in Plain Sight for 32 Years
In the summer of 1984, seventeen-year-old Melanie Road had almost everything ahead of her.
Bright, popular and ambitious, she was approaching the end of her A-levels and looking forward to university and the freedom of adult life.
But in the early hours of 9 June, after spending the night out with friends in Bath, Melanie began the short walk home.
She never made it.
Her murder would become one of Britain's most haunting unsolved crimes. Police had evidence. They had witnesses. They had something left behind by Melanie's killer that would one day prove crucial.
But as months became years and years became decades, the person responsible remained free.
For more than thirty years, Melanie's family waited for an answer.
And then, in 2015, something happened that would finally begin to unravel a mystery that had endured for a generation.
This week on Seeing Red, we follow the murder of Melanie Road, the extraordinary investigation that followed, and the breakthrough that finally brought detectives face-to-face with the man they had been searching for since 1984.

Tue, 13 Oct 2026 - 1h 01min - 478 - SECOND LOOK: The Mandalay Bay Massacre — Nine Years On
On 1 October 2017, a gunman opened fire on thousands of people attending the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip, committing the deadliest mass shooting by a lone gunman in modern US history.
Nine years on, we’re returning to one of the most devastating cases we’ve ever covered for the latest instalment of Seeing Red: Second Look.
Originally released in 2022, Mark recorded this episode just days after returning from Las Vegas, where a visit to the Mandalay Bay hotel inspired him to explore the events of that night. In a newly recorded introduction, he reflects on visiting the resort and the strange normality of a place where there was little visible acknowledgement of the horror that had unfolded there just a few years earlier.
The episode also gives a voice to some of those who survived the attack, including stories of extraordinary courage, resilience and, in one particularly tragic case, an almost unimaginable twist of fate.
Whether you heard this episode when it was first released or are discovering the case with us for the first time, this is Seeing Red: Second Look — The Mandalay Bay Massacre.
This episode was originally released in January 2022 and is presented largely in its original form, with a newly recorded introduction.

Wed, 30 Sep 2026 - 28min - 475 - Trapped Underground: Terror Beneath the Surface
This week, we’re venturing away from our usual true crime territory for something a little different.
Just as we’ve previously explored disasters including the Great Smog of London and the Titanic, this week Bethan takes us deep underground for three extraordinary stories of caving expeditions that went terribly wrong.
Beginning here in the UK, before travelling to the United States and finally Thailand, these are stories of exploration, extreme environments and the terrifying reality of becoming trapped far beneath the surface.
The first two cases take us to some particularly dark places, involving desperate rescue attempts and devastating consequences, while our final story became an international race against time that gripped the world.
This week on Seeing Red… we’re going underground.

Fri, 25 Sep 2026 - 45min - 473 - The Death of Kelly Neill: What Happened in Deptford?
In October 2022, an emergency call brought police and paramedics to a home in Deptford, south-east London. What they found inside would lead to a deeply disturbing investigation.
At the centre of the case was Kelly Neill, a former stroke nurse and devoted mother whose life had changed dramatically in the years leading up to that October day.
But as investigators began to piece together what had been happening inside the property, troubling questions emerged about Kelly’s final months — and about the people she had depended upon most.
This week on Seeing Red, we tell the story of Kelly Neill: who she was, how her life changed, and the disturbing circumstances that would ultimately bring police to her home.

Tue, 15 Sep 2026 - 51min - 471 - Ben Geen: The Killer Nurse — Revisited
In 2006, nurse Ben Geen was convicted of murdering two patients and seriously harming 15 others while working at Horton General Hospital in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Prosecutors said Geen deliberately injected patients with potentially lethal drugs before reveling in the medical emergencies that followed. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to serve a minimum of 30 years.
Geen has always maintained his innocence.
This week, Seeing Red revisits one of the most fascinating and unsettling medical murder cases we've covered.
Before the original episode begins, Mark returns with a new 10–15 minute update.
With the Lucy Letby case continuing to dominate headlines and raise difficult questions about how suspected medical murders are identified and investigated, Mark looks again at the evidence against Geen — and asks whether his conviction still feels as compelling as it once did.
He also explores the striking parallels between Geen and Letby; why hospital managers can appear reluctant to involve the police even when staff suspect a colleague may be harming patients; the extraordinary coincidence involving Geen and an actress playing a killer nurse in Holby City; and whether Mark's growing doubts about the Letby convictions have made him question Ben Geen's guilt too.
Plus, an unfortunate encounter between a syringe and Geen's jacket prompts Mark to revisit some highly questionable medical terminology from the original episode.
The original Seeing Red episode then follows, newly remastered and lightly edited.
Ben Geen: guilty beyond reasonable doubt — or could one of Britain's most notorious killer nurses actually be innocent?

Tue, 08 Sep 2026 - 1h 20min - 470 - Colin Norris: The Killer Nurse — Revisited
In 2008, nurse Colin Norris was convicted of murdering four elderly patients and attempting to murder another at two hospitals in Leeds. Prosecutors said Norris deliberately injected vulnerable women with insulin, causing sudden and unexplained episodes of severe hypoglycaemia. He was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 30 years.
Norris has always maintained his innocence.
This week, Seeing Red revisits one of Britain's most disturbing — and increasingly controversial — medical murder cases.
Before the original episode begins, Mark returns with a new 10–15 minute update.
With the Lucy Letby case continuing to raise difficult questions about medical evidence, statistics and the investigation of unexpected hospital deaths, Mark looks again at the case against Norris — including the evidence that once appeared to make his guilt overwhelming, and the developments that have since led some experts to question whether the women he was convicted of harming were murdered at all.
He also revisits Norris's deeply troubling behaviour away from the alleged murders: the personality traits identified following his arrest, his extraordinary treatment of his own cat, and the chilling comments he made while under suspicion. And if some of the medical evidence against Norris is now open to challenge, how much weight should we give to behaviour that seems almost impossible to explain away?
Plus, Mark considers what the cases of Norris, Ben Geen and Lucy Letby can tell us about one of the most difficult questions in modern criminal justice: how do you prove that a healthcare professional is deliberately killing patients when the alleged murders can look remarkably like natural medical emergencies?
The original Seeing Red episode then follows, newly remastered and lightly edited.
Colin Norris was convicted as one of Britain's most notorious killer nurses. Nearly two decades later, is his guilt still beyond reasonable doubt?

Tue, 08 Sep 2026 - 1h 19min - 468 - Rebecca Schaeffer: The Hollywood Murder That Changed Stalking Laws
In July 1989, 21-year-old actress Rebecca Schaeffer was on the brink of a major Hollywood career. Best known for the hit sitcom My Sister Sam, she was preparing to audition for a role in The Godfather Part III when there was a knock at the door of her Los Angeles home.
On the other side was Robert John Bardo — an obsessed fan who had been stalking Rebecca for years.
What happened next would send shockwaves through Hollywood, expose frightening gaps in America's privacy laws and ultimately change the way stalking was understood and prosecuted.
For the Season 15 finale of Seeing Red, we're doing something a little different. This is a Seeing Red x Dead Famous crossover: true crime meets celebrity as we explore not only Rebecca's murder and the disturbing obsession that led to it, but the young woman behind the famous face, her rapidly rising career, the final hours of her life, the investigation that followed and the extraordinary legacy of a case that helped change American law.

Tue, 01 Sep 2026 - 59min - 467 - The Summerland Disaster: The Isle of Man Fire That Killed 50
On 2 August 1973, thousands of holidaymakers were enjoying an evening at Summerland, a vast state-of-the-art leisure complex on the seafront in Douglas, Isle of Man. Within minutes, it had become the scene of one of the deadliest fires in modern British history.
What began as a small fire outside the building spread with terrifying speed, fuelled by highly combustible materials used in Summerland's construction. As flames engulfed the complex, families desperately tried to escape. By the end of the night, 50 people had lost their lives and scores more had been injured.
But the Summerland disaster was more than a tragic accident. Questions would soon emerge about the design of the building, fire precautions, evacuation procedures and a catalogue of decisions that had left thousands of people dangerously vulnerable.
This week on Seeing Red, we revisit the devastating Summerland fire: how a holiday attraction billed as a futuristic paradise became an inferno, the lives lost that night, the investigation that followed, the eye witness testimony from survivors, and why one of the worst peacetime fire disasters in British history has largely faded from public memory.

Tue, 25 Aug 2026 - 1h 18min - 465 - Lockerbie Revisited: The Bombing of Pan Am Flight 103
On 21 December 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 was flying from London to New York when a bomb exploded on board as the aircraft passed over the Scottish town of Lockerbie.
All 259 passengers and crew were killed, along with 11 people on the ground. With 270 lives lost, the Lockerbie bombing remains the deadliest terrorist attack ever carried out on British soil.
But nearly four decades later, the story of Lockerbie is far from over.
As the case returns to the headlines and a new trial approaches in the United States, we revisit one of the most significant and complex stories ever covered on Seeing Red.
Who was responsible for the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103? How did investigators piece together an extraordinary international investigation from the wreckage scattered across hundreds of square miles? And why, 38 years later, do questions surrounding Lockerbie continue to provoke controversy?
As Seeing Red marks its eighth anniversary, we're looking back at some of the cases that have stayed with us long after we first covered them — beginning with a tragedy that changed hundreds of families, a small Scottish town, and the history of international terrorism forever.
This is Lockerbie.

Fri, 21 Aug 2026 - 57min - 464 - Adam Hall: The Predator Who Weaponised His Own Health
This week on Seeing Red, we investigate the chilling case of Adam Hall – a man whose crimes would leave a devastating trail across the North East of England.
Behind closed doors, Hall was hiding a secret from the men he met. But as disturbing allegations began to emerge, investigators would uncover something far more calculated – and far more horrifying – than anyone had initially imagined.
What followed was an extraordinary investigation involving multiple victims, allegations spanning years, and the discovery that Hall had been warned about the potentially devastating consequences of his actions.
Just how many lives had he changed? How much did he know? And, most chillingly of all, why did he do it?
This is the shocking story of Adam Hall – and the investigation that exposed the truth.

Tue, 04 Aug 2026 - 1h 04min - 461 - Lizzie Borden: Murder, Myth & Bury the Hatchet
This week on Seeing Red, we're doing something a little different.
Bethan is joined by Sasha Wilson, writer and artistic director of Out Of The Forest Theatre, for a fascinating deep dive into one of history's most infamous murder cases: Lizzie Borden.
A long-time listener of Seeing Red, Sasha has spent years researching the brutal 1892 axe murders, the sensational trial that followed and the extraordinary mythology that's grown around Lizzie Borden for more than 130 years. That research became the inspiration for Bury the Hatchet – an award-winning bluegrass musical that blends true crime, courtroom drama and live folk music to ask one enduring question: did Lizzie Borden really kill her father and stepmother?
In this special episode, Bethan and Sasha explore the facts behind the legend, discuss why the Lizzie Borden case continues to fascinate more than a century later, and talk about the challenge of transforming one of history's greatest true crime mysteries into an acclaimed stage production.
Bury the Hatchet runs at Southwark Playhouse Borough from 12 August to 5 September before heading on an international tour of Canada. For tickets and more information, visit Out Of The Forest Theatre – Bury the Hatchet.

Content Warning: This episode discusses animal cruelty and contains some non-graphic but distressing descriptions of animal abuse.
We understand that this topic will be too upsetting for some listeners, and we completely respect that choice. However, as our guest Mark Randell from the Naturewatch Foundation explains, there is an important reason not to ignore cases like this. Animal cruelty thrives in silence. By confronting these crimes, we help ensure they are acknowledged, victims are not forgotten, offenders are held accountable, and pressure continues to build for stronger legislation, better enforcement and meaningful change.
Following the recording of this episode, Seeing Red made a donation to the Naturewatch Foundation in support of their work protecting animals and campaigning for better welfare laws. If you'd like to support them too, you can donate here: Donate to Naturewatch Foundation
To learn more about the Naturewatch Foundation and the work they do around the world, visit Naturewatch Foundation.
For this week's episode, Bethan is away, so I'm joined by Mark Randell from the Naturewatch Foundation, a former senior police detective who has spent years investigating animal abuse and campaigning to improve animal welfare around the world.
Together, we examine one of the most disturbing criminal cases we've ever covered.
Adam Britton was internationally respected as a crocodile expert and wildlife conservationist. Behind that carefully cultivated public image, however, investigators uncovered a catalogue of horrific offending that shocked even experienced detectives.
In this episode, we explore how Britton managed to conceal his crimes for so long, what the investigation revealed, the psychology and behavioural warning signs discussed during the case, and the wider relationship between animal cruelty and other forms of serious offending.
With Mark Randell's unique experience investigating these offences, we also discuss why animal abuse should never be dismissed as a lesser crime, and how cases like this can inform safeguarding and criminal justice.
Listener discretion is strongly advised.

Tue, 16 Jun 2026 - 41min - 454 - The Carnkie Murders: How Lee Ford Killed His Wife and Four Children | Seeing Red
In August 2000, the quiet Cornish village of Carnkie became the scene of one of Britain's most devastating family murder cases. Over the course of just 24 hours, Lee Ford murdered his wife, Lesley, and her four children before attempting to hide what he had done and convince neighbours they had simply disappeared. As the truth slowly emerged, investigators uncovered a story of control, abuse, deception and unimaginable violence.
This week on Seeing Red, we examine the lives of the victims, the warning signs that preceded the killings, the investigation that exposed Ford's lies, and the shocking details that would come to light after his arrest. This is the story of the Carnkie Murders — a case that continues to haunt Cornwall more than two decades later.
Please be aware that this episode contains discussion of murder, domestic abuse and child victims.

Sat, 06 Jun 2026 - 39min - 452 - Ian Watkins: The Dark Downfall of a Lostprophets Star | Seeing Dead
We're taking a short mid-season break this week, but rather than leave the feed silent, we thought we'd share an episode from Mark's other podcast, Dead Famous.
This episode forms part of a recent trilogy examining famous figures whose lives ended in scandal, criminality and public disgrace. It's a very different show to Seeing Red, but we suspect many of you will find the story every bit as compelling.
If you'd like to hear the rest of the trilogy, or explore more episodes from Dead Famous, you'll find them all wherever you're listening right now.
We'll be back next week with a brand new episode of Seeing Red. Thanks, as always, for being here.

Tue, 02 Jun 2026 - 44min - 451 - The Wrongfully Convicted Husband? The Murder of Christine Morton | Texas True Crime
This week on Seeing Red, we travel back to Texas in the 1980s to examine a case that began with the brutal murder of Christine Morton — and led to one of the most shocking miscarriages of justice in modern American criminal history.
Her husband, Michael Morton, quickly became the focus of the investigation and was convicted of her murder. But years later, serious questions began to emerge about what had really happened, and whether the wrong man had been sent to prison while the real killer remained free.
We discuss the investigation, the evidence, the conviction, and the extraordinary fight that would eventually expose devastating failures within the justice system. A story of loss, wrongful conviction, and a search for the truth that took decades.

Tue, 26 May 2026 - 54min - 450 - The Racist Murder of Anthony Walker | UK Hate Crime Case
In July 2005, 18-year-old Anthony Walker was attacked in a Liverpool park in a crime that shocked the UK and became one of Britain’s most devastating modern hate crime cases.
Anthony was intelligent, ambitious, and preparing for university when a night out with friends turned into something unthinkably violent. As the investigation unfolded, detectives uncovered a brutal attack driven by racism — and a case that would spark national outrage, soul-searching, and calls for change.
This week on Seeing Red we examine the life of Anthony Walker, the events leading up to his murder, the police investigation, and the lasting impact his death had on his family and the wider community.

Tue, 19 May 2026 - 54min - 449 - Constance Marten & Mark Gordon: The Death of Baby Victoria
This week on Seeing Red, Bethan takes the reins solo to untangle the disturbing and deeply tragic case of Constance Marten and Mark Gordon.
In early 2023, the aristocrat-turned-fugitive and her convicted rapist partner vanished with their newborn daughter, Baby Victoria, triggering a nationwide manhunt that gripped the UK. As the couple travelled across the country attempting to evade police and social services, questions mounted: why were they running, what were they hiding, and where was the baby?
What followed was one of the most unsettling and heartbreaking investigations in recent memory.
Bethan explores the backgrounds of both Marten and Gordon, the strange journey that led them underground, and the devastating discovery that shocked the nation.

Tue, 12 May 2026 - 59min - 448 - Murdered by a Man in a Clown Mask? The Carol Wardell Story
In 1994, Gordon Wardell went on TV claiming a gang of men in clown masks had attacked him, tied him up, robbed a building society… and murdered his wife, Carol.
Which is… a lot.
Carol Wardell was a devoted sister and daughter, quietly getting on with her life — not the kind of person you’d expect to end up at the centre of something this violent.
So how does someone like that end up strangled and left at the side of a road?
This week’s episode looks at the life at the centre of it all… and the huge, messy, very public version of events that followed.

Tue, 05 May 2026 - 1h 23min - 447 - Murder by Remote Control
Painkillers. Cold medicine. Morphine, if you're Mark! Something to take the edge off a headache.
In 1982, people across Chicago did exactly that — and some of them never got back up.
This week on Seeing Red, we’re talking about the case that changed everything: the Chicago Tylenol murders. Cyanide-laced capsules. Random victims. A killer who never had to meet the people they murdered — just quietly tamper with bottles and put them back on the shelf.
But it didn’t stop there.
Because once the fear was out in the world, someone else saw an opportunity.
We also look at the copycat killings that followed — including a case where “random” poisonings were anything but, and innocent people died to cover up a far more personal murder.
This is murder without warning, without motive you can see, and without a suspect we can name.
So… how safe is that bottle in your bathroom cabinet?

Tue, 28 Apr 2026 - 59min - 446 - Mr Zig Zag: The Disappearance of Jo Ramsden
In April 1991, 21-year-old Jo Ramsden disappeared from the Dorset town of Bridport, a place she knew well and where her routine rarely changed. When she didn’t return home, concern quickly turned into a desperate search.
Witnesses reported seeing Jo with a man in a distinctive zig-zag patterned jumper — a sighting that would become central to the case.
Despite strong suspicions around a known offender, no one has ever been charged with Jo’s disappearance. More than three decades later, the identity of “Mr Zig Zag” — and what really happened to Jo — remains unknown, although we have strong suspicions...

Mon, 20 Apr 2026 - 53min - 444 - Nanny Doss: The Giggling Killer
This week on Seeing Red, we meet a woman who looked like she’d stepped straight out of a 1950s love story — but left a trail of bodies behind her.
Nanny Doss was charming, chatty… and deadly. With a fixation on love and happily-ever-afters, she approached marriage the same way Bethan approaches an all you can eat buffet — aggressively and without hesitation — each one ending in a strangely convenient death.
But it didn’t stop there. Her victims weren’t just the men she married — family members, too, found themselves in the path of her quiet, calculated cruelty. Using poison as her weapon of choice, she slipped death into everyday life with chilling ease, all while keeping that unsettling, ever-present smile.
In this episode, we unravel the bizarre, darkly absurd story of a woman who treated murder like a means to an end… and sometimes, disturbingly, like a joke.

Wed, 15 Apr 2026 - 1h 24min - 443 - Priceless: The Murder of Michael Griffiths
Michael Griffiths dealt in antiques — rare, highly sought-after pieces. But in 2013, he became the target of something far less refined: a gang of burglars chasing a quick payday. What followed wasn’t just a robbery gone wrong — it was brutal, calculated, and left behind a trail of evidence as chaotic as the crime itself.
This week, we dig into how greed turned deadly… and why some people will kill for fast cash.

Tue, 07 Apr 2026 - 1h 10min - 442 - Naomi Smith: Murder in Nuneaton
In 1995, 15-year-old Naomi Smith left her home in Nuneaton, Warwickshire — and never returned.
What followed was a case that would shock a community, expose uncomfortable truths, and leave lasting scars on a town that thought it was safe.
In this episode, Bethan explores Naomi’s life, the events leading up to her murder, and the investigation that followed — asking how something so brutal could happen in broad daylight, and whether justice ever truly feels like enough.

Wed, 18 Mar 2026 - 43min - 439 - Anne Faber: The Day She Didn’t Come Home - Part 1
Anne Faber should have made it home.
In Part One, we follow the life of a bright, warm, and deeply loved young woman whose ordinary Friday bike ride would become anything but. We trace Anne’s world — her family, her relationship, her work, her future plans — and the quiet chain of decisions happening in the background that no one could have known were converging.
As the hours pass and Anne doesn’t return, confusion turns to dread. Searches begin. Questions mount. And a community starts to realise that something is very, very wrong.
This is the story of the build-up — the warning signs, the missed opportunities, and the devastating moment when a normal day tips into tragedy.
Part Two covers the aftermath.

Wed, 11 Mar 2026 - 48min - 434 - Murder on Silverdale Close
On 3 January 2025, in a quiet block of flats on Silverdale Close in Aylesbury, 76-year-old John “JJ” Jones was murdered in a brutal, two-stage attack.
That afternoon had been painfully ordinary. John spent it the way he’d spent countless others — talking football with friends down the pub and picking up a bit of shopping, before heading home to his flat. Routine.
But by late afternoon, he was dead.
John’s family and neighbours described him as a beloved figure — a devoted father and grandfather, an ardent football fan, and a friendly, familiar presence around Silverdale Close. The sheer senselessness of his killing left a tight-knit community reeling, struggling to understand how a man like John could end up murdered on his own doorstep.
So who would want him dead — and why?

Wed, 04 Mar 2026 - 44min - 433 - The Murder of James Self: When Control Turns Deadly
When we talk about domestic abuse, there’s a narrative people expect.
This case doesn’t fit it.
In this week’s episode of Seeing Red, we examine the murder of James Self — a man killed by his female partner after what those close to them describe as a volatile and controlling relationship.
We look at how abuse can look different when the victim is male. The warning signs that are often dismissed. The cultural blind spots that make it harder for men to be believed — or even to recognise what’s happening to them in the first place.
Domestic abuse isn’t defined by gender. It’s defined by control, fear, and escalation.
And when we fail to recognise that, people slip through the cracks.www.patreon.com/seeingredpodcast

Wed, 25 Feb 2026 - 52min - 432 - Execution on Anglesey
In 2019, the quiet island of Anglesey was shaken by a murder unlike anything in its recent history.
Gerald Corrigan was killed in broad daylight — not with a knife, not with a gun — but with a crossbow. A weapon that felt less modern Britain and more medieval execution.
Anglesey is known for its sweeping coastline and tight-knit communities, not savage violence. Yet what unfolded that year would stun locals and leave investigators confronting a crime both brutal and baffling.
In this episode of Seeing Red, we examine the events that led to Gerald Corrigan’s death, the investigation that followed, and the disturbing questions at the heart of this case.

Wed, 18 Feb 2026 - 1h 12min - 431 - Jasmine Richardson: The 12-Year-Old Who Killed Her Family
This week on Seeing Red, we’re covering one of Canada’s most disturbing family annihilation cases.
In 2006, 12-year-old Jasmine Richardson and her 23-year-old boyfriend murdered her entire family in Medicine Hat, Alberta. It was a crime that shocked the country — not just because of the brutality, but because of Jasmine’s age.
How does a child become involved in something so calculated? How much influence did her older boyfriend really have? And what happens when teenage obsession, manipulation, and fantasy spiral into something irreversibly real?
This is the case of Jasmine Richardson.

Part two of our series on the death of two-year-old Parker Scholtes focuses on what came next.
In this episode of Seeing Red, we examine the aftermath of Parker’s death in Arizona — the public response, the investigation, and the long road toward trial. We follow the build-up through court proceedings, mounting scrutiny, and the questions surrounding responsibility and accountability.
Finally, we look at the shocking conclusion to this case and what it meant for the family left behind.
This is a difficult episode, dealing with the death of a child and its consequences. Listener discretion is advised.

Mon, 02 Feb 2026 - 3min - 428 - Left Behind: The Death of Parker Scholtes (Part One)
This week on Seeing Red, we’re covering one of the most devastating and upsetting cases we’ve ever examined.
In Part One of this two-part series, we take you through the events leading up to the death of two-year-old Parker Scholtes. We look at her life, her family, and the decisions made in the hours before she was left alone in a hot car — decisions that would end in irreversible tragedy.
This episode focuses on the build-up: the timeline, the warning signs, and the moments that culminated in Parker being declared dead. It’s a deeply emotional case, and we’ve chosen to split it into two parts out of respect for the gravity of what happened — and because there is far too much to unpack responsibly in a single episode.
Part Two, which will be out next week, will examine what followed in the aftermath — the legal consequences, public reaction, and how this case ultimately concluded — but for now, this episode ends where Parker’s life did.
Content warning: child death, neglect, and extremely distressing material.

This week on Seeing Red, we cover the case of Louise Porton, who murdered her two young children and tried to pass their deaths off as tragic accidents.
What followed was a web of lies, attention-seeking, and chilling indifference that slowly unravelled under medical scrutiny. As suspicion grew, the story Porton told the world collapsed — revealing a calculated killer hiding behind the image of a grieving mother.

They were last seen alive in the early hours of 27 December.
They never came home.
No confirmed crime scene.
No bodies.
No explanation that holds. This episode of Seeing Red follows what little is known, what was missed, and what people living on that estate have had to sit with for nearly thirty years.

Mon, 12 Jan 2026 - 3min - 424 - Cut Short: The Murders of Owen Dunn and Daniel Baird
This week on Seeing Red, Bethan tells the stories of Owen Dunn and Daniel Baird — two young men killed in separate knife attacks, years apart, but bound by the same devastating reality.
Bethan explores the circumstances surrounding their deaths and the unimaginable aftermath faced by the families left behind. But this episode isn’t just about loss — it’s about what came next.
From grief came action. Owen and Daniel’s families channelled their anger and heartbreak into foundations set up in their sons’ names, determined to reduce knife crime and protect other families from experiencing the same pain. Their legacies now stand in direct opposition to the violence that took them.
This is a difficult listen — but an essential one — about accountability, prevention, and the power of refusing to let a life be defined by the way it ended.

Mon, 05 Jan 2026 - 0min - 422 - Case Re-opened - Thomas Kwan: In Plain Sight
This week we're digging back into the archives to revisit a case that's haunted us since we first covered it in November 2024.
The case takes us to Newcastle as we examine a crime so chilling, it could have been ripped straight from the pages of an Agatha Christie novel. It features everything you would expect from our favourite purveyor of literary intrigue – a family dispute over a will, an unsuspecting, unassuming would-be assassin, and a plan so audacious, that the culprit might easily have escaped justice had it not been for some dogged detective work.

Wed, 24 Dec 2025 - 1h 10min - 418 - Sleeping with the Enemy: The Double Murder of Paul Longworth & Albert Alfonso
In 2024, Albert Alfonso and Paul Longworth opened their home — and their hearts — to a young Colombian porn actor named Yostin Mosquera. What began as a friendship built on trust and desire ended in an act of staggering brutality.
Mosquera repaid their kindness in the worst way imaginable. This week, we unpack the horrific betrayal that left two men dead, a community reeling, and a global manhunt underway.
It’s a story of lust, lies, and lethal violence — a reminder that sometimes evil doesn’t break in through the window… it’s already sitting on your sofa.

Wed, 26 Nov 2025 - 55min - 409 - The Butcher Next Door
When Edward “Eddie” Forrester vanished from his Blackpool home on 1 September 2023, it was clear something was very wrong.
Within days of his disappearance, police found worrying signs inside the flat below his… signs that something violent had happened, and that someone was desperately trying to cover it up. As detectives followed a trail of CCTV, phone data, and a white van that travelled far beyond Blackpool, the search for a missing man began twisting into a far darker investigation — one that would expose secrets on a quiet street and lead to a discovery miles away that no one was prepared for.

When British couple Joanne and Robert Hall bought a crumbling French château, they dreamed of restoring it into a luxury haven. But behind the shutters and sprawling grounds, tensions simmered — money troubles, isolation, and the slow unravelling of a marriage far from home. One night, after too much wine and too many arguments, everything came to a tragic end.

Wed, 12 Nov 2025 - 53min - 405 - We Need to Talk About Richard
Brace yourself for one of the most haunting and heartbreaking stories you’ll ever hear on Seeing Red.
In the quiet Devon village of Newton Poppleford, Judith Law and her brother Richard lived side by side for decades — two ordinary lives bound by blood and silence. They were the neighbours everyone knew of, but no one really knew.
Then, on a freezing January morning in 2025, Richard made a phone call that would turn a sleepy village into the centre of a national nightmare.
This week, we step inside the Law family home to uncover how a lifetime of quiet devotion twisted into something unimaginable.

Wed, 05 Nov 2025 - 1h 00min - 403 - The M25 Rapist: Fear in the Home Counties
In the early 2000s, a predator was stalking the quiet towns and villages that circle London — communities linked not by proximity, but by terror. Over twelve months, women across Kent, Surrey, Sussex, and Hertfordshire were attacked in their homes, in parks, and on suburban streets. The press would call him “The M25 Rapist.”
In this episode of Seeing Red, we uncover the crimes of Antoni Imiela — a seemingly ordinary family man whose violent attacks left police baffled and women afraid to walk alone. We’ll trace how DNA evidence finally exposed him, the shocking scale of his crimes, and the chilling arrogance of a man who believed he’d never be caught.
Because sometimes, the most dangerous monsters aren’t hiding in the city — they’re living right next door.

When police were called to a quiet West London flat in June 2024, they found 70-year-old Rita Fleming dead in her bathtub — fully clothed. Her partner, Clifford Cowen, insisted it was a tragic accident. But something about the scene didn’t add up.
In this episode of Seeing Red, we uncover the disturbing truth behind what really happened in that flat — a story of control, cruelty, and the lengths one man went to hide the evidence of what he’d done.

We are BACK with Season 14, and Bethan is back too!

Thu, 11 Sep 2025 - 4min - 389 - The Execution of Joe Arridy
I think this is one of the saddest and cruellest episodes we have ever done...
In 1939, 23-year-old Joe Arridy was executed in Colorado for a crime many believe he didn’t commit. With the mental capacity of a child, Joe was an easy target for investigators eager to close a brutal case. But how much of his so-called confession was his own—and how much was fed to him? In this episode, we explore Joe’s short life, the controversial trial that sealed his fate, and the lingering questions that still cast a shadow over his execution.

They had everything — wealth, privilege, a Beverly Hills mansion — but behind closed doors, the Menendez family was rotting from the inside out. In 1989, Lyle and Erik Menendez turned their parents’ living room into a crime scene that shocked America. Was it cold-blooded greed? A desperate act of survival? Or something far darker than anyone imagined?

Tue, 29 Jul 2025 - 57min - 376 - Prayer, Planning, and Premeditated Murder: The John List Story
In 1971, devout churchgoer, doting father, and seemingly mild-mannered accountant John List calmly murdered his entire family - his wife, his mother, and his three children - in their New Jersey mansion. He then vanished without a trace, leaving behind a chilling confession letter and a perfectly staged crime scene where the bodies lay undiscovered for nearly a month.
What drove this "respectable" man to such horror? And how did he manage to disappear for 18 years, starting a brand-new life while his crimes faded into cold case infamy?
This episode dives into one of America's most cold-blooded family annihilators - a man who traded his soul for control, and thought God would forgive him for it.

Tue, 22 Jul 2025 - 55min - 374 - Hunted: The Murders of Aidan Moffitt and Michael Snee
In the quiet coastal town of Sligo, Ireland, a chilling darkness unfolded over just 48 hours in April 2022. Two kind, well-liked men — Aidan Moffitt and Michael Snee — were brutally murdered in their own homes. What connected them? They were both openly gay, both targeted through dating apps, and both victims of a twisted and calculated predator.
In this episode of Seeing Red, we explore the horrifying details of these hate-fuelled killings, the community left shattered in their wake, and the manhunt that revealed a disturbing pattern of violence and deception. This case sparked outrage across Ireland and reignited conversations about homophobia, online safety, and how society protects — or fails — its most vulnerable.

Tue, 15 Jul 2025 - 46min - 372 - She Was Only 12: The Murder of Nikki Conroy
It was an ordinary school day—until it wasn’t.
Twelve-year-old Nikki Conroy should have been safe within the walls of her classroom. Instead, a stranger walked in, armed with a knife and intent on violence.
What followed was a terrifying attack that left one child dead, several others traumatised, and an entire nation asking: how could this happen in a school?
In this episode, we unravel the chilling events of that March afternoon in 1994 at Hall Garth School in Middlesbrough. We look at the man who brought horror into a place of learning, the moment-by-moment chaos inside that classroom, and the devastating consequences of a system that failed to protect its most vulnerable.
Disturbing, emotional, and important—this is a story that will stay with you long after the episode ends.

Tue, 08 Jul 2025 - 57min - 370 - William & Zachary Zulock: Predators In Plain Sight
In this harrowing episode we uncover the deeply disturbing case of William and Zachary Zulock — a seemingly picture-perfect couple from Georgia who adopted two young boys, only to exploit and abuse them in the most vile ways imaginable.
Behind their carefully curated social media presence was a world of unthinkable depravity. The Zulocks weren’t just unfit parents — they were predators, using their position of trust and protection to commit unspeakable crimes. As the investigation unfolded, what authorities discovered would horrify even the most seasoned detectives and leave a community in shock.
Join us as we break down the timeline of events, the evidence that led to their arrest, and the questions that still linger about how this couple was ever allowed to adopt in the first place. This is a story of betrayal, systemic failure, and a fight for survival that’s only just begun.

Wed, 02 Jul 2025 - 45min - 368 - Case Reopened: Folie à deux - The Madness of Twins
We have an announcement at the beginning of this week's episode for anyone who missed it on our socials...
Folie à deux, or “madness of two", is a rare psychological phenomenon where delusion is shared between two closely connected people. Think siblings. Think twins.
This week, we reopen one of the most bizarre and unsettling cases we’ve ever covered: the story of Sabina and Ursula Eriksson. Twin sisters whose shared descent into chaos left witnesses stunned, authorities baffled, and one man dead.

Tue, 24 Jun 2025 - 1h 02min - 366 - Blood Ties: The Murder of Scarlett Vickers
50-year-old Simon Vickers was the very definition of a devoted father. He lived in a modest suburban semi just outside of Darlington in County Durham with his long-time partner, Sarah Hall, and their 14-year-old daughter, Scarlett. Friends described him as hands-on, affectionate, and utterly devoted to his only child.
So why then, on the evening of July 5th, while Sarah stood at the stove cooking spaghetti Bolognese for her family, did Simon drive a kitchen knife eleven centimetres into Scarlett’s chest?
Why would a loving father turn into a killer in the blink of an eye? What darkness was simmering beneath the surface of this seemingly ordinary home?
In this episode, we peel back the layers of this devastating family tragedy as we attempt to answer these questions.

Tue, 17 Jun 2025 - 56min - 364 - The Long Island Serial Killer
We originally covered this case way back in 2022 when Bethan went solo while Mark was on holiday. Fast forward three years, and there is so much more that has come out since.
This week we both dive into the the case of the Long Island serial killer.
When the remains of ten bodies were found in late 2010 and early 2011, detectives were faced with the haunting prospect that they were hunting a serial killer. Years of frustration followed as the investigation moved at a sluggish pace but then in 2023, a year after Bethan recorded her episode, there was a breakthrough when a seemingly respectable family man was charged with seven of the murders.

Tue, 03 Jun 2025 - 43min - 360 - A Murder Most Horrid
This week, in a special listener-written episode, we head back to the late 1990's, and to the medieval city of Chester, as we recount the final hours of father of two Alan Morris.
On 30 December 1998, Alan had been out with his partner, Jane Rowe, and their friend, Nigel Jones, enjoying a few drinks at a local pub.
During an altercation at a Chinese restaurant at approximately 11:30pm, Alan and Jayne argued briefly. That argument continued when they got home. As Jayne went upstairs for 30 seconds in the early hours of 31 December, Alan was brutally stabbed to death outside the house.
Just who was responsible for his murder? And why would anyone want to execute a loving family man in cold blood? Join us as we attempt to unravel what really happened on that fateful night.

Tue, 27 May 2025 - 1h 10min - 358 - The Accused: The Case of Alice Sebold & Anthony Broadwater
In this episode, we dive into the harrowing true story behind author Alice Sebold’s 1981 rape and the decades-later revelation of a devastating miscarriage of justice. Sebold, best known for her memoir Lucky and the novel The Lovely Bones, identified Anthony Broadwater as her attacker, leading to his conviction in 1982. However, Broadwater always maintained his innocence.
This episode examines the long-term impact on both Sebold and Broadwater, raising critical questions about memory, systemic racism, and the justice system’s failures — and what it means to confront truth years after a crime.
The excellent ITV drama Mark mentions in this episode, Undeniable, is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. The series can also be purchased on Apple TV.

Tue, 13 May 2025 - 1h 04min - 354 - The Tragic Killing of Emily Jones
This week we head north, to Bolton, as we cover one of the most heart-breaking cases in recent history.
Emily Jones was a bright, happy, much-loved child. She was innocently enjoying the sunshine with her father when her life was stolen in a moment so brutal, so sudden, and so senseless, that it shook the entire nation to its very core.
But what followed only deepened the outrage. The woman responsible for the attack was a mentally ill foreign national with a long history of violent behaviour and disturbing psychiatric issues. She was known to adult care services, known to the police, known to the entire system. And yet, somehow, she was walking free that day.
This wasn’t just a case of a life taken too soon. It was a case that raised urgent questions — about mental health oversight, immigration, and how we protect the most vulnerable among us. Questions that, for many, still haven’t been answered.

Tue, 15 Apr 2025 - 58min - 346 - Reverend Paul Flowers: The Crystal Methodist
In our season 13 premier we take a look at the life and crimes of 74-year-old debauched deviant Paul Flowers.
Flowers first came to the public's attention in 2013 when he was blamed for the near-collapse of the Co-operative Bank - he was the bank's chairman from 2010 to 2013. Some bad decisions were made during his tenure and it's not hard to see why - Flowers was often turning up to work following all-night cocaine and ketamine benders. He was in no fit state to be running a bank and when a sex worker filmed him in the act, it was the beginning of a spectacular downfall that would see his personal and professional lives implode in the most public way possible.
