We originally covered this case way back in 2022 when Bethan went solo while Mark was on holiday. Fast forward three years, and there is so much more that has come out since. When the remains of ten bodies were found in late 2010 and early 2011, detectives were faced with the haunting prospect that they were hunting a serial killer. Flowers first came to the public's attention in 2013 when he was blamed for the near-collapse of the Co-operative Bank - he was the bank's chairman from 2010 to 2013. Some bad decisions were made during his tenure and it's not hard to see why - Flowers was often turning up to work following all-night cocaine and ketamine benders. He was in no fit state to be running a bank and when a sex worker filmed him in the act, it was the beginning of a spectacular downfall that would see his personal and professional lives implode in the most public way possible. When Jillian took over as the head of the University of Brighton's payroll department in 2015, she was intent on change. The department needed overhauling and she was just the woman to do it. David Browning, a then 49-year-old payroll administrator in the department, immediately took a disliking to his new boss. In time however, the pair became close, with Jillian supporting David following the sudden death of his father in 2016. But when David misconstrued Jillian's support for something more, a chain of events was set in motion that would end in tragedy. This week we head to the seaside resort of Blackpool. Home to Blackpool Pleasure Beach and the iconic Blackpool Tower, the town attracts millions of visitors every year. And it's not just tourists that flock to this quintessentially British holiday destination. Every year, thousands of people move to Blackpool from other parts of the UK. In 2016, 21-year-old Debbie Leitch and her mother, Elaine Clarke, moved there from Leeds, with Elaine's three other children. The move should have signalled the beginning of an exciting new chapter in their lives, but for Debbie, who had Down Syndrome, it heralded the beginning of the end when her life spiralled into a downward descent into hell where neglect, abuse and isolation reigned supreme. At approximately 11:30 on the morning of 10 May 2008, a day after his sixteenth birthday, Jimmy was inside the Three Cooks Bakery in Burnt Ash Hill, south London, with his brother, Harry, when 19-year-old Jake Fahri entered the shop spoiling for a fight.
