Hello and welcome to History Bits, a Canadian history podcast. I’m Josephine, a university history student, and I will be sharing with you bite sized pieces of Canadian history. In the first series I am so excited to be sharing with you the story of Canada’s telephone operators, the work that they did and their importance to Canadian labour history. We will be exploring everything from what it was like to be a telephone operator, and the requirements to be one, to why they went on strike in 1907 and again in 1919. This will be done not only through historical texts but also newspaper articles from the time. I hope you will join me in the next episode where we will begin exploring this interesting time in Canadian History, bye for now.
