Love on the Frontline

As Grant and Joan enter the new year, they are picking up on their story and talking a bit about what it looks like to start a new relationship when there are kids in the picture. Reflecting back on the early months of their relationship, Grant and Joan take a hard and vulnerable look at themselves and attempt to process all the emotions and thoughts they had then. There is more to tell than this episode allowed, so they will be back soon with part two. 

       This week Joan is back with Turner to continue the story of his journey. As Turner shared in the previous episode, there are definite ups and downs to being a male working in childcare. 
       This past summer Turner experienced one of the worst possible "downs" anyone should ever have to endure. Thankfully on the other side of it now, Turner brings more light to the stigma that surrounds men in childcare and what it can lead to. 
       From her perspective as a mom who had to see her son go through this, Joan shares once again the importance of praying for your adult children and listening to and obeying prompts from the Holy Spirit. 

Grant and Joan are excited to welcome one of their adult children to the podcast this week. You are encouraged to listen as Turner shares some of his journey and a lot of his heart in finding his purpose and calling to work with children in early learning environments. As Grant and Joan have prayed and continue to pray for their adult children, Turner's story reminds them that God has His hand upon them all. 

Understanding God's purpose for their lives is something all parents long for their kids. As the world influences and attempts to direct our adult children, it is God's purpose and calling that they most need in their lives. In this episode Grant and Joan talk unwrap chapter five of "The Power of Praying for Your Adult Children" as they once again relay stories from their lives and the evidence they see of the effectiveness of their prayers. 

In this last chapter of the four foundational chapters from Stormie Omaritan's book, The Power of Praying for Your Adult Children, the topic is freedom, restoration and wholeness.  As Grant and Joan review the chapter, they also include many personal reflections from their own journey.

Grant and Joan hope that the first four chapters of this book  have impacted how you pray and reinforced why you pray for your adult children. May you be blessed knowing that "God will honour your righteousness, praise, humility and faith in prayer, until theirs kicks in".

Chapter 3 of "The Power of Praying for Your Adult Children" by Stormie Omartian is about three vital things we all need-wisdom, discernment and a revelation from God. Having these allow parents and adult children alike to function in the most effective way. While praying these for our adult children, parents may feel inadequate themselves in these areas. The good news? All three are available to everyone....you just have to ask for it! 

Using Stormie Omartian's book, The Power of Praying for Your Adult Children, Grant and Joan delve into chapters one and two and offer a summary and personal reflections. 

When raising young children, parents pray diligently and have a heavy and direct influence over their children's lives. However as these children grow into adulthood and more independence, many parents feel helpless and hopeless. While it is challenging to offer direct advice or counsel (which often goes unheeded), parents can always pray! 
In this episode Grant and Joan outline the precepts of Stormie Omartian's book, "The Power of Praying for Adult Children" and share what this looks like in their lives. 

After being absent for almost five months, Grant and Joan return with an episode dedicated to Joan's mom, Vi,  who passed away in February. 
Grief can be unpredictable and affects everyone in different ways. As Grant and Joan have journeyed through their grief these past few months, they've  learned things about themselves and, as always, have been reminded of God's great faithfulness through it all. 

It's been almost four months since Grant and Joan recorded a podcast and they are excited to be back. This is an unscripted and light episode in honour of Valentine's Day; they hope it's the spark that gets them back on track!

In episode six, Grant and Joan talk about how their love story began. From meeting as teenagers to reuniting years later, it is evident how God has been instrumental in their relationship. 

After another unplanned break in recording, Grant and Joan are back! They are excited to share what they've learned in the past few weeks and to "prescribe" the best solutions for challenging times,  according to God's Word. 

When we believe and follow Jesus, our names our engraved in the palm of God's hand and He holds us there, even when we go off track. This week Grant shares about the period of his life when he chose to go his own way and how decisions made then still hold consequences today for those he loves. 

After a couple of challenging weeks, Grant and Joan are back to share about relationships and how theirs began.
