The past perfect continuous is also known as Past Perfect Progressive Tense, and is used for an action that began before a certain point in the past and continued up to that time. When she came to the university in last summer, her biology Lecturer had already been teaching there for five years.

Must vs. have to Both Must and have to express obligation or necessity, but there are some small differences: - We use must when the speaker thinks it is necessary or important to do an action: Must you go? ~ Yes, I must. You must go. (= It is important that you go.) - We use have to to talk about an action that is necessary because of rules or laws, or because someone obliges us to do it: Doctors sometimes have to work on Sunday. (It is in the rules of their work.)

The past perfect simple is used to describe one action that happened before another action in the past. In many cases a complete sentence is written in two parts with two different tenses: The past perfect simple, to refer to the action that happened first or earlier The past simple to refer to the action that happened second or later. The Past Progressive usually puts emphasis on the course of an action in the past. It's used in case of: - actions in progress at a special time in the past - two actions happening at the same time (the actions do not influence each other) - a combination together with Simple Past - repeated actions irritating the speaker (with always, constantly, forever) The form: to be (was, were) + infinitive + -ing.

The pas simple is the form of a verb used to describe an action that happened before the present time and is no longer happening. For regular verbs, we add -ed to the base form of the verb (work–worked) or -d if the verb already ends in e (move–moved). Many verbs are irregular. Each one has to be learnt. The verb form is the same for all persons (I, you, she, he, it, we, they); Questions and negatives sentences are made with irregular verbs in the same ways as for regular verbs.
