Sat, 03 Feb 2024 - 100 - 100 Episodes of Peri Menopause Power
Welcome to our 100th episode of Peri Menopause Power!
We have celebrated a few milestones over the lifetime of the podcast, but this is a very special milestone. We are very proud of what we have achieved and appreciative of you our listeners, who share your time with us and for that we say thank you!
For this episode we wanted to highlight two key messages:
- “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples.” - Mother Theresa. We all have a part to play when it comes to changing the narrative, shifting stigma and squashing taboos! And this is why we created this podcast to close the gap in the lack of education and to create ripples of awareness with the view that as collective we can make great change together. "The power of community to create health is far greater than any physician, clinic or hospital." - Mark Hyman. We want to bring home the power and love we can get from connecting with others and sharing in our experiences. There is so much to gain from being around others and when you come together with like minded individuals who get you and want to support you, it will truly bring at your greatest self, health, life and the way you show up to the world.
We have a light hearted conversation about the road to this episode and as we celebrate a year of being with our own Thrive Together community, we welcome the wonderful words of some of the ladies who have been part of this community to inspire and highlight what they have gained by being part of it. You will hear from Bron Williams, Leigh Evans, Kylie Espandiar and Bianca McKee.
Whether this is your first episode or your hundredth, we see you as being part of this community that is Peri Menopause Power.
Thank you for listening, supporting and following along with each of our episodes. We are officially signing off for 2023, but will be back in 2024. Feel free to contact us with any guest or topic suggestions and if you haven't had the chance to leave a review, we would love you to do so!

Welcome back to Peri Menopause Power. In this week's episode we give you the opportunity to take some time to connect with where you are right now - that might be physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
As we near the end of the year there are so many external factors that can play a critical role in how we are feeling, with or without Menopause symptoms. You may like to pause the episode after each question and write down your answers or you might just like to have a moment of quiet contemplation whilst you are listening. Either way, we hope you enjoy this episode.

Sun, 27 Aug 2023 - 86 - My Peri Menopause Story with Michele Owen
Welcome to this week's episode where we continue our "grassroots" conversations with "everyday" women, who are opening up and sharing their own Peri Menopause story to help better educate other women and bring awareness to this pivotal time of life.
This week we welcome Michele Owen to our podcast. Michele is a mum to 3 adult children, a passionate change manager and a woman who has learnt about her life and self so much across her lifetime and now continues to grow and learn through this next phase of her life, being Peri Menopause.
Michele takes us on a reflective journey through her Peri Menopause experience as she shares the highs and lows of her symptoms, her desire to "fix" what she has been experiencing to then eventually accepting this phase of life. Michele openly talks about the ambiguity of Peri Menopause and her desire to understand what this phase means for her.
Michele shares a wonderful quote with us towards the end of our conversation "Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want". We loved how this quote sums up beautifully Michele's personal story as well as how she comes into her power through learning. We also see how much this quote can bring every woman experiencing Menopause, a learning and growth perspective. There's no doubt, Menopause brings with it a set of challenges for all women in some way, but as you strive to manage and support yourself, you may not quite get what you want (in an outcome or improvement) but you do get an experience, a learning and an opportunity to use that learning for the rest of your life.
We know you will love this chat with Michele. If you do we would love to hear from you, will you leave us a review? Or please feel free to share our podcast with others in your life. We can all be a collective force for change and as we often say, no woman should be left behind.
Thanks for listening as always!

Sun, 16 Jul 2023 - 80 - Exploring your emotions through meditation

"We give away our power by not knowing"
In this episode we have a beautiful raw and honest conversation with Grace Zielinski - an award-winning IT Executive. She is the Founder of ‘Menopause with Grace’ an online site and community designed to empower women to take an active role in their mid-life hormonal change.
During our conversation Grace shares with us how at 45 she felt like "something wasn't quite right". She had a challenging and rewarding career as a corporate high-achiever. Not to mention family life, with kids aged five and seven, keeping her busy. Grace had lost her confidence at work. She felt indecisive, overwhelmed and tired. When she decided to take an unplanned career break, she still didn’t know she was experiencing menopause. She just knew she couldn’t work through her symptoms anymore. She left her job to focus on her health.

Sun, 05 Feb 2023 - 58 - Creating Thriving Health Part 4
Welcome to Part 4 of our Creating Thriving Health Mini Series. This is the last episode in this series but by no means least important.
In today's episode we talk through Emotional Health and in particular the importance of our relationships and connections that support us, serve us and contribute to our whole health and wellbeing.
Surrounding ourselves with positive friendships, supportive people and others who we can talk too and can even understand the experiences we are having goes a long way to contributing to our thriving health. We also know that having positive friendships can be challenging or making friends particularly as we get older can be tricky but it is possible.
This is part of our reason for starting Women Thriving Together. We speak to countless women who feel alone, isolated and really feel like they have no one that understands their experience or what they are going through. WTT is about ensuring no woman is left behind and that the "woman" behind their career, business, personal goals, life and relationships is being supported. At the end of the day if you are not thriving, your career, life, business, goals etc will not be thriving either.
We would love you to join us at WTT and be inspired, connected, informed and truly supported. You can learn more or join here
And always if you are loving our episodes and podcast we would love you to leave a review, subscribe and/or share our podcast with those around you. As a side note, if you have enjoyed this four part series we'd love you to leave a review or send us some feedback at info@ownyourhealthco.com.au

Sun, 29 Jan 2023 - 57 - Creating Thriving Health Part 3
Welcome to Part 3 of our mini series Creating Thriving Health.
The focus of this mini series is to give you some practical information and insights into how you can support and nurture your whole health. The start of the year brings with it the usual messages of setting new years resolutions or losing weight fast, which drives us a little crazy because real supportive thriving health takes real behaviour change and the key ingredient is supporting the whole you from your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.
In this week's episode we talk you through your mental health and your spiritual health. It's quite interesting because one of these pillars gets so much air time and the other one is usually looked upon with hippy lens. Of course mental health gets a lot of attention and rightly so it is extremely important to nurture our mind and our brain. Spiritual health on the other day is viewed a little woo-woo but as you have probably realised by now, we really can't have one without the other.
We provide some insights into how everyone has mental health and a very important way that we can all nurture our mental health. We also talk about spiritual health and how essentially its our spiritual health that supports our true self.
We hope enjoy this episode, feel free to send any questions our way. We thrive on being able to truly support you.
As mentioned throughout this series, we are launching Women Thriving Together. We have created Women Thriving Together to help you feel your own shift and live your best life. WTT is a no cookie cutter approach of learnings, conversations and a whole health framework to educate your mind, body and soul. We give you the tools and then the "how" you implement this is completely up to you but we’ll be with you every step of the way. You can join in here https://women-thriving-together.mn.co/

Sun, 22 Jan 2023 - 56 - Creating Thriving Health Part 2
We welcome you to Part 2 of our Creating Thriving Health Mini Series.
In this episode we talk about Physical Health and how there are a multitude of ways that you can support your physical health. We also talk about the incidence of stress - both good and bad stress and the role stress plays on our physical and our whole health.
We refer to a past episode about Nutrition for Menopause which you may like to relisten to and delve into how food nutrition can play a significant role in supporting a healthy menopause journey offering you an opportunity to use food as lifestyle medicine without adding too much to your to-do list...As Lisa says let's make sure we get bang for our buck with the nutrients, goodness and support from the food we eat. You can catch up on that episode here https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/peri-menopause-support-through-food/id1588187655?i=1000557861092

Sun, 15 Jan 2023 - 55 - Creating thriving health Part 1
Happy New Year listeners! We hope the holiday season and the start of the year has been a beautiful time and will continue to be into 2023.
As you would know, the beginning of a new year always brings focus around new years resolutions. We despise the thought process around new years resolutions and believe more deeply in tuning into yourself and what you need from a whole health perspective and creating healthy habits around that.
Over the next few weeks we are going to take you through a mini series which will focus on helping you connect to your whole health and what it is may need and want when it comes to thriving in your health, life, career, self.
In this first episode we talk through our 5 pillar framework which is a venn diagram of four circles each representing your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health which surrounds the work SELF.
We talk through why this framework serves as a great tool to support your health and life desires as well as talking specifically about the self - You - and how knowing where you are and what you need is an important first step.
If you would like to know more about this framework, you can read more over at our blogs.
We hope you enjoy this episode and the others to follow as we take you on a journey to creating thriving health.

Sun, 04 Dec 2022 - 52 - Shifting the alcohol mindset with Kathryn Elliott
In this week's episode we speak with The Alcohol Mindset Coach Kathryn Elliott.
It was a fascinating conversation and in fact rather than having a structured interview for this episode, we simply hit record on our conversation.
Kathryn Kathryn works as a certified This Naked Mind alcohol coach and has been living alcohol free since July 1, 2019. As a former binge drinker for over 30 years,
Kath coaches from lived experience and believes vulnerability and sharing our own stories is one of the most powerful tools in finding a more balanced relationship with alcohol. We talk about Kathryn's personal story of how she became a coach supporting others around alcohol consumption, she openly shares her experience of having breast cancer and how that ultimately led her to early Menopause as well as sharing some of the real benefits she has seen and felt as a result of choosing not to drink.
We talk often about the impacts of alcohol on our health and wellbeing and it can be a tricky conversation to navigate because most of us all like to have social drink but the reality is that it is not great for our health and can be a huge contributor to Peri Menopause symptoms.
We hope you enjoy this conversation and listen to it with an open mind and heart.
You can learn more about Kathryn via her website https://www.thealcoholmindsetcoach.com or she has kindly provided her email address too kathryn@thealcoholmindsetcoach.com.au

As we share in this episode, having our own podcast was on our list of things to create and achieve over the last couple of years. We have absolutely loved bringing you our podcast and our episodes each week and we hope you have loved listening to us every week. We hope that you have been inspired, informed and made aware of how you can support your whole health leading into, during and beyond Menopause.
We look forward to another 12 months of episodes and guests. Please feel free to send us your guest suggestions or send us any questions that you would love answered for our podcast.
If you have loved listening to this episode and all of our others we'd love you to leave us a review or subscribe or share it around to someone who would get great value from listening.

Sun, 18 Sep 2022 - 42 - Make Menopause Matter Cairns Summit Highlights
In this episode, we bring you some of the key takeaways from the Australiasian Menopause Society Menopause Congress Summit.

Although there is still much work to do, the change is happening and the support is developing and coming to really support women through this phase and beyond. As much as we talk about Peri Menopause, it is just one phase in a woman's life and ultimately the goal is to live a vibrant, healthy and full life, what we do leading into and during this phase of life is important for that.
We were extremely grateful and fortunate to present our own work to the audience and share with them all about how healthy lifestyle factors plays a key role in ensuring women have a high quality of life, every single day of their long lives.
As mentioned in the introduction to this episode, we are hosting our Cycle Syncing for Work and Life Thursday 15th September 12:00pm Australian time. Sat, 23 Apr 2022 - 21 - Peri Menopause support through food
In this episode, we start the conversation (of many episodes) about food and the importance of food as a lifestyle support strategy for Peri Menopause, in fact for life.
As we discussed many times, women go through many many changes throughout their entire lifetime and Peri Menopause is one of those significant changes as we know. As we transition through this phase of life we may start to recognise that what has worked for us in the past may not work for us now. Sun, 13 Mar 2022 - 16 - The power of letting go
In this weeks episode we bring you something a little different. We have used this episode to introduce you to one of the most beautiful poems we have ever heard - She Let Go which is written by Saffire Rose.
When Natalie first stumbled upon this poem she was taken with it immediately and knew she had to share it with our community. The words depict so beautifully the opportunity and struggle for us women to simply let go. And you might have a different perception of the words and resonate with them for different reasons but the the simplicity of deciding to let go as per the words, gives the sense of hope, choice and power.
We hope you enjoy this episode and more specifically the beautiful poem. If you can take a moment whilst listening to this episode to bring about a sense of peace and stillness.
If you would like to listen to Natalie's meditation She Let go on Insight Timer, be sure to take a listen here.
We also coach and guide our clients on bringing greater self awareness, love and compassion to themselves through meditation, you can book a discovery call with us hereto learn more about this service to support you.
