Sun, 03 Feb 2019 - 1h 01min - 14 - Radio No Jodás EP. 014 - Que se Rinda tu Madre
Welcome back to Radio No Jodas and to Season 2! On this episode my great friend Anais guest co-hosted and lead the conversation about the issues going on in Nicaragua. Anais has been actively speaking about Nicaragua since the minute the crisis broke out. Coming from two Nicaraguan parents, and visiting Nicaragua every summer; this is something that she holds tight in her heart. In this episode she was able to get a friend of hers (who’s name will remain anonymous for safety purposes) who has been living in exile for the last 3 months to speak about his experience and the severity of the situation. It was a very raw ,honest, and open conversation through WhatsApp so please excuse the call getting cut short. If you’d like to get involved or learn more about Nicaragua, you can look up the hashtag #sosnicaragua or follow Anais’s platform @quiensosvos
Sun, 06 Jan 2019 - 1h 04min - 13 - Radio No Jodás EP. 013 - La Procesión
On this weeks episode I finally got around to sharing a scary story as I promised. I know it’s not October anymore but let’s get real here; scary stories are cool to hear year round. So for this episode I invited the best story teller I know- my dad. I remember when I was young my dad told me this story that happened to him during his youth while he was in El Salvador. He was around 14 going on a trek with his boy-scout group. While embarking that trip they all witnessed an eerie group of people known as “La Procession”. To this day people still claim it goes on but, where these group of people come from remains unexplained..
Sun, 11 Nov 2018 - 31min - 12 - Radio No Jodás EP. 012 - Meet Normandie Records
On this week’s episode I had the pleasure to sit down and talk to Erick- the owner of Normandie records. Erick talked about his love for music and how it connected him to his parents, his roots from El Salvador and how that motivated him to own his record label. When he started his record label he ventured off and found new modern and contemporary music from the motherland and that inspired him to work with these bands and artists exclusively and have them signed on his label. Erick is helping bring the level of music from El Salvador that we’ve been longing and waiting for here in the US! We played two exclusive songs from two Salvadoran bands which you’ll get to listen to on this episode and we also gave out a little easter egg about a project that is brewing and is in the works momentarily- stay tuned! In the meantime, you can find the Centro America Vol 1 mixtape cassette on his website normandierecords.com get your own copy while they’re hot and available, there’s a limited supply left! Also watch out for Centro America Vol 2 mixtape coming out soon, this time it’ll be on vinyl. Songs played: Camelo- Ya No Juegues Con Mi Amor & Tonico 86- Todo Marcha Bien

Fri, 25 May 2018 - 48min - 8 - Radio No Jodás EP. 008 - Support Isthmus Roots
Welcome back everyone and happy weekend! On this episode we dug a little into an unspoken dilemma that seems to be going around lately. One of the largest stereotypes in the Central American community is that we don't support each other when it comes to our own personal goals and aspirations. Today we decided to open the discussion to try to find out why? Is there a solution to this or, are we doomed to be stuck in our ways? With this in mind we invite you to come join us and support your fellow Central American artists/ creatives at Isthmus Roots: A Celebration of Central American Creativity & Story Telling. On Saturday, May 26th of 2018, from 5pm-8:00pm at the EastSide Cafe in El Sereno, California we will be moderating this event/panel in celebration of all the amazing artists/ creatives on this panel that have utilized their platforms to speak and amplify the stories of their respective communities. This event will be free and there will be music, food, and art! Panel features: A. Sarr: Nicaraguan musician, Breena Nuñez Peralta: Guatemalan/Salvadoran illustrator, Brigette Lugo: Panamanian & Nicaraguan journalist/founder of SomosGenteLA, Nicole Ramsey: Belizean educator, Tamika Burgess: Afro-Panamanian blogger, founder of EsMiCultura, Yeiry Guevara: Salvadoran writer and artist, Zaira Miluska, Salvadoran founder of Central American art and beauty, Victor Interiano: Salvadoran artist known as the one and only Dichos de un bicho. Special thanks to Angela Flores and the collective from Eastside Cafe for generously providing the space to host this event.
Sat, 19 May 2018 - 6 - Radio No Jodás EP. 006 - Does Solidarity Exist?
It's official everyone. Henry has signed the contract and is now the official co-host of No Jodas! He sold his soul to me and can't get out of this one. Kidding. But with that said we are happy to bring forward more related topics that are important to our community. On this episode we ask the question: Does solidarity exist? Is it black or white or do the grey areas count? We shared our opinions and really picked our brains about whether or not it really exists. Does it? Will this generation have a better grip on how to support other communities? Will the Latinx community finally break down the barriers and tension between themselves and finally come together? But we ask the bigger questions and the elephant in the room...Is there solidarity between the Mexican community and the Central American community?
Sat, 14 Apr 2018 - 5 - Radio No Jodás EP. 005 - Bayuncadas with Colachampagnepapi
My guest Henry or as some of you may know him as, "Colachampagnepapi" on Instagram and Tumblr. Is the only person I can think of who hits it on the nail when it comes to bayuncadas and Salvi sense of humor. He talks about his background and experience as a Salvadoran and where his inspirations come from for his videos. We also got to chat about the importance of self-identity and how to use your platforms wisely. Do people use their self-identities for the aesthetic or for the actual passion and struggle? With that said we got into a mini debate about how we eat our Pupusas. How do you eat yours? Fork or hands?
