The Cantina Review

Its another tuesday evening and we all know what that means... a new installment of the Cantina Review.  This week we get a new offering from long established rock band Alkaline Trio.  Their new album delivers on many levels and has a good hold on the Alkaline staple sound while still being able to get some new feels in.  Definitely an album worth checking out... Monster Moments? Rock Hard Tracks?  Check out the episode for all that goodness.

We spin Just the Wheel and get our least favorite Trivia.  But it's probably your favorite since we sound so terrible at it.  Enjoy!

Whats going down Cantina Crew?  We are excited to dive into the debut album from Hundred Suns called "Prestaliis".  This band band is a rocking trio comprised of members from established acts Norma Jean and Every Time I Die.  Although, a bit of departure from the hardcore sound of the aforementioned acts this record still pumps out some heavy riffage and serious grooves.  It's all wrapped up with some strong vocal performances and serious drum work, this album definitely delivers.  What did the guys think about it? What was the Six Pack Rating?  Check out the episode for that and more.

Its Tuesday, you know what that means... a brand new episode of the Cantina Review!  We're bringing you Coldfront this week.  A pop-punk band from the great white north... Canada... not Hoth.  This album offers alot of big hooks and catchy tunes.  Throw in some nice guitar riffs and you've got a solid album.  Although there is some difference in opinion in how the album scores the Six Pack Rating, check out the episode for the juicy debate...

Whats up Cantina Crew?  This episode is jam packed with awesomeness.  We bring our good friend on the show, Leo Nardo.  He is involved heavily with Animal Rights and Animal Liberation and we get some amazing insight in the movement, what motivates him and how you can help!  For example, the Animal Rights March thats taking place this saturday, September 1st in NYC.  

He also brought two demo's for us to check out, first is NYC punk "super-group" Cop/Out.  This is an old school 3 song demo that was recorded by the band.  It's a fresh take in todays polished music world.  Second, is the band The New Ethic.  This demo is 5 songs and is a blistering assault on the ear drums.  Like this episode, both bands deliver strong messages with just the right amount of punk aesthetic. We also get silly, when "Just The Wheel" decides to give us Celebrity Pool and we are tasked with making our starting Hockey Players out of celebrities.  Betty White anyone?

We celebrate our 50th episode by getting into one of our favorite albums ever and nominating it for the Hall of Awesome.  It's non other than Nirvana's mega-hit, Nevermind.  This album shattered the earth on its release, and is credited with starting the grunge movement as well as destroying hair metal.  Although, we do love our hair metal here on the Cantina.

It's only fitting that 50 episodes in we try out something new, thanks to our friend "Just the Wheel".  Check out the brain power of  Jay Bray and Davis when they try some trivia.

The Hall of Awesome is Cantina Review's way of bringing great albums from our past out of the shadows and back in the spotlight.  Davis and Jay Bray will nominate records and score them on 5 different categories.  It will take a certain number of points to be fully inducted.

Our inaugural nominee comes from Jay and he went back to the late 90's with an album called "My Own Prison" by Creed.  A truly polarizing band that was uber succesful as well as having a bright but short stay on the charts.  Did the album make it in?  Listen to find out.

Cantina Crew we are trying to hit some curveballs in this episode.  First up is a band from England named Don Broco.  We get into their second studio album "Automatic."  A rhythmic blend of pop and rock styles that form a very unique sound.  Check out what the guys picked for rock hard track and the six pack rating.

Not to be out done, the beer had to be unique this week, so the guys went with a beer in the Wild Sour Series by Destihl Brewing.  This beer is Synchopathic Apricot and it packs a serious punch.  What part of the Nectar scale did we make up for this?  Tune in to find out.
