God commands how the ark of the tabernacle shall be built, and how the high priests shall be dressed.

God speaks to the Children of Israel, and gives them the Ten Commandments.

The Children of Israel leave Egypt, and God divides the Red Sea for them.

God brings ten plagues against the Egyptians, because Pharaoh would not let the Hebrews go.

The descendants of Jacob are now slaves in Egypt. God chooses Moses to lead them to freedom.

Joseph reveals himself. Jacob moves to Egypt, blesses his children, and dies. Joseph dies.

Joseph interprets Pharaoh's dream, and becomes ruler of Egypt, and sees his brothers again.

The descendants of Esau. Joseph is sold into slavery. Judah has children with Tamar.

Shechem is massacred. Jacob sees Esau again. Rachel has Benjamin and dies.

Jacob and his family leave Laban.  Jacob wrestles with an angel.

Jacob loves Rachel but is tricked into marrying Leah, who then bears many sons.

Jacob and Esau are born. Isaac lies to Abimelech. Jacob steals Esau's blessing.

Sarah dies. Rebekah marries Isaac.

Sarah bears Isaac. Hagar and Ishmael are expelled. God tells Abraham to sacrifice Isaac.

God destroys Sodom and Gomorrah. God punishes King Abimelech.

God tells Sarah that she will bear a son.  Abraham pleads with God for Sodom and Gomorrah.

God changes Abram's name to Abraham, and establishes a covenant with him.

Sarai, Abram's wife, is barren, and so asks him to have a child with Hagar, Sarai's handmaid.

Although Abram has no heir, God promises him that his descendants will be great.

Nine kings go to war against each other, and Abram rescues Lot, his nephew.

Abram and his nephew Lot go their separate ways, and God promises land to Abram's descendants.

God chooses Abram to be the father of a new nation.

People start building a tower to heaven. God stops them by creating different languages.
