This week and likely the first week of January we will have a pause in programming as I regroup for another year and prepare to release a few new projects.

My schedule was full of responsibilities. I had a bunch of social commitments I didn’t want to attend. My email and home inboxes were full of stuff. I paid for a bunch of packages, but I really only used one service. In my quest to get after life, my list of goals kept growing and many weren’t essential. When acquaintances, non-profits or other entities asked for help I almost always said yes...and while all this was going on I was having health complications. Kim Constantinesco is a competitive big mountain snowboarder, adventurer and author. She spent much of her life making the world a little brighter with her writings. Kim went through the extensive and difficult process of donating her kidney to a stranger and the kidney didn’t survive. Despite this massive setback, Kim pushed forward on a mission to find a new donor, advocate for living kidney donation and also begin her own healing process. After her passing, I sat in her home, reliving memories and preparing to go through all the stuff she owned. I couldn't fully process donating all of her stuff. The practices and ideas of essentialism and minimalism is something I've attempted to incorporate the past seven years. About six years ago we downsized our entire house and moved 2,000 plus miles away to a smaller home in a strange new world. When we arrived at our new home we filled one garage spot with all of our possessions. We kept these items in the garage and only brought in what we needed, such as beds, coffee makers, clothes, etc. Anything that wasn’t needed or didn’t bring us value was donated. Over time we did acquire more items such as clothes, some furniture and other items that brought value to our lives. 

Twice a year we host a packing party, where we box several rooms in the house. We only take out what we need. If we don’t remove the items from the box within 90 days then we donate these items. A packing party is pretty empowering, try it.

How does adventure improve one’s life? This is a story of how taking flight changed elite adventure athlete Jim Jennings' life. Jim Jennings suffered a TBI and other complications after an accident. Post accident Jim felt very hopeless at points. What helped in his recovery was an introduction to flying, and by flying, I mean skydiving, BASE jumping, gliding and more. Today in this episode we pay tribute to Rhonda Ramsay. Rhonda was a writer, speaker and was known for her platform The Pink Project. This interview is from some years ago and is remastered. Rhonda passed away this past week after many years of thriving despite cancer.

Rhonda was first diagnosed in 2012 with Stage 2 breast cancer. She was cancer free after treatment, but cancer returned in 2017 and was diagnosed as stage 4.  Rhonda Ramsay once stated, "My goal is to help people living with cancer to not only survive, but to thrive. Cancer does not have to be a death sentence, but rather a sentence to live life to the fullest and enjoy every moment. By sharing my journey and the things that I have incorporated into my daily life to become a better version of myself, I hope to show others that the path cancer has led me on is one of enlightenment and greater health and it can be that for them too!” Rhonda joins us from Sooke, British Columbia.
