Welcome to the NLPcourses.com Podcast. Our goal in this weekly podcast is to explore what makes NLP transformational. This means we will tap into psychology, neuroscience, linguistics and storytelling, as we dive deep into the unconscious mind, language patterns and the core concepts of NLP. We may be controversial, and likely will be a bit outrageous. But regardless, we'll focus on NLP techniques that are proven to transform people's lives. Join us on this journey. - 343 - How to Say No Without Guilt Using NLP Meta Model Questions
How do you say no when you know it’s the right answer for you—without treating the guilt afterwards as proof that you’ve done something wrong? I dive into that question this week on NLP in Real Life. We’ll look at why guilt can feel so persuasive, even when all you’ve done is disappoint someone (which is not the same as wrongdoing), and how our language—particularly those little words like “should,” “must,” “have to,” “need to,” and “can’t”—can turn routine decisions into emotional high-stakes moments.
Together, we’ll explore how to use the NLP meta-model to spot the hidden rules that drive guilt and obligation, separate facts from predictions, and recover the freedom of genuine choice. Plus, I’ll share a simple experiment you can try in the next 24 hours to transform a “should” into a choice—so you can respond with honesty, kindness, and clarity, rather than getting trapped in guilt. This is NLP in Real Life, and we’re getting practical about saying no, challenging guilt, and making more deliberate decisions.
Wed, 30 Sep 2026 - 17min - 342 - Resolving Internal Conflict with the Visual Squash NLP Technique
Finding yourself saying yes to requests before you've had a chance to consider your true feelings. One concept discussed was the internal struggle between the part that wants to be helpful and accommodating, and the part that seeks to protect time, energy, and commitments. A key theme that emerged was that both sides of this internal conflict often have important, positive intentions—one aiming for connection and support, the other for boundaries and self-respect.
Labeling one side as “bad” or “weak” isn’t useful, and introduced the NLP “visual squash” technique as a way to recognise and negotiate between these competing parts. Several points were raised, including how to identify the higher intentions behind each side, how to move from automatic reactivity to conscious choice, and how integrating both sides can lead to more satisfying, flexible responses in everyday situations.
This episode invites listeners to experiment with these ideas, offering practical steps and language shifts that transform internal conflicts into opportunities for meaningful change.
Wed, 23 Sep 2026 - 19min - 341 - How to Approach Difficult Conversations and Make Them Easier With NLP
We've all faced those tough conversations—the ones we rehearse over and over in our heads, yet find ourselves avoiding in real life.
Maybe it's feedback for a colleague, a boundary with a friend, or a candid talk with a loved one. Despite our best intentions, we end up postponing the moment, searching for the perfect opening, or feeling overwhelmed by the imagined responses of others.
In this episode of NLP Courses, I'm diving into the surprising reason why difficult conversations feel so hard and sharing a practical NLP approach to make them easier. We'll explore what happens when we stop trying to control every possible reaction and instead focus on the one piece we can truly own: our part.
You'll learn how to clarify your intention, sharpen your language, and use a 5-minute outcome plan to finally have that hard conversation—with clarity, confidence, and compassion.
Whether it's about work, family, or friendship, join me to discover simple steps that can turn dreaded talks into more productive and honest moments.
Wed, 16 Sep 2026 - 34min - 340 - How to Stop Obsessing Over Past Conversations
Have you ever found yourself rehashing a perfectly normal conversation in your head, only for it to turn into a disaster hours later?
In this episode of NLP in Real Life, I explore the all-too-common habit of obsessing over what we said, how we said it, and what others must have thought.
I’ll guide you through the subtle difference between useful reflection and unhelpful rumination, show you how to step out of the emotional replay loop, and introduce simple NLP techniques to help you extract value from your experiences—without turning every conversation into a courtroom drama.
Whether it’s the awkward pause in a meeting or that one joke in a group chat, you’ll discover practical ways to stop the cycle, learn what matters, and move forward with more choice and less self-punishment.
Let’s get started.
Sun, 06 Sep 2026 - 29min - 339 - What is Neuro-Linguistic Programming?
What actually is NLP — and why should you care?
Neuro-linguistic programming is often introduced through techniques, terminology and acronyms. In this episode, we take a different approach.
We explore NLP as a way of understanding how people create their experience: how we think, use language, develop patterns, respond emotionally and make sense of the world around us.
You’ll discover why two people can experience the same situation completely differently, what “the map is not the territory” really means, why NLP is so interested in the question “How?”, and how modelling, language and state all fit together.
Whether you’re completely new to NLP or you’ve been studying it for years, this episode brings the subject back to its foundations — curiosity, patterns, communication and greater choice.
And by the end, you’ll have a simple experiment you can use to start noticing your own patterns differently.

Last but not least, we'll introduce you to Nominalisations - these are like the secret weapon of great communicators. They're powerful words that can transform the way you think and communicate. We'll give you examples of how to use Nominalisations in your everyday life and show you how they can help you achieve your goals.

Mon, 13 Mar 2023 - 11min - 336 - Part Two Milton Language maps of the world
Welcome to the second session in Milton's language!
In this week’s episode, we will explore maps.
Today, we will delve further into the idea that human beings create maps of the world through language, and explore the two major language patterns within Neuro-Linguistic Programming - the Milton Model and the Meta-Model.
The Milton model is about being artfully vague, whereas the Meta-model is about being precise with language.
Through language, we can create maps that are clear, easy to navigate, accurate and up-to-date, relevant, appropriate for its intended use, and provide context and orientation.
The language we use in NLP is powerful in changing people’s thinking and helps them to operate from a map that is useful for their lives and goals.
We also discuss the importance of prioritising clarity and simplicity over geographic accuracy, just like Harry Beck did in 1931 when he created the London Underground map. Join us as we explore this metaphor of maps and learn how to create brand new maps that can revolutionise the world around you.

Mon, 06 Feb 2023 - 16min - 333 - Questions about unlocking passion today
We explore the idea of passion and share tips on finding it, pursuing it, and using it to live a meaningful life.
So why passion? Well, it's more than just a feeling – it's a powerful force that can drive your life to new places, but it doesn't have to lead to a career or making money. Passion can provide an outlet for creativity and fill your life with joy and energy.
So how do you find your own passion? Try out different activities, explore new hobbies, and practice commitment. Committing to something for a period of time allows us to glean an understanding of the depths and complexities of what it means to be passionate.
And not everyone needs passion to live a happy life. Some people are content to simply enjoy their lives as is, free from the constraints of passion. But for those seeking something deeper, passion can be that inner driving force that helps you move forward in life.
So if you want to know more about passion and how you can use it in your life, tune in to Passionate Pursuits. You've taken the first step in the process already – so let's get started!

Mon, 30 Jan 2023 - 12min - 332 - Unlock your motivation and achieve success through a growth mindset.
Unlocking your motivation and achieving success through a growth mindset is the focus of this session led by host John Cassidy-Rice.
He begins by debunking the myth of the "big break" that keeps many people from reaching their full potential. Waiting for something to happen in their lives can lead to disappointment and a lack of fulfillment.
Successful individuals come closer to realizing their goals by taking action and committing to something. Finding one's passion is not always easy, but committing to something can trigger passion and lead to growth over time.
One of the keys to unlocking your true potential is having a growth mindset, which is the belief that one's abilities and intelligence can be developed through taking action. This is in contrast to a fixed mindset, which holds that one's abilities and intelligence are set in stone and cannot be changed.
The importance of having a growth mindset is highlighted by Dr. Carol Dweck in her book "Mindset" and will be discussed in this session. One of the key takeaways is that embracing challenges and setbacks as opportunities for growth and learning can lead to greater success in the long run.
In addition to exploring the growth mindset, this session will also delve into the topic of there is no failure, only feedback, and that by embracing challenges and learning from them, one can achieve success. Plus the skill of Reframing.
Furthermore, the host John Cassidy-Rice emphasizes on the importance of dreaming big, having a vision, and committing to something that is positive, engaging, and makes a difference in the world or to oneself. He encourages the listener to commit to something and let the passion develop over time. He believes that having a big dream and staying committed to it is easier because you will face setbacks and challenges along the way.
This motivational session has all you need to become a success - no big break required. Take the challenge, pledge to yourself, and dare to dream big and you'll easily unlock your motivation and reach your goals. Come learn the empowering tools needed to take control of your life and watch your true potential shine. Don't miss this opportunity to be inspired and transform how you approach life.

Tue, 04 May 2021 - 17min - 302 - Stephan Petrowitsch interview
Stephan Petrowitsch is a movie-director, who was for decades on the search for indestructible health and deep spiritual experiences, to find the true meaning of life.
He practized and applied many therapeutic techniques, which gave him every time to improvements, but they were very frequently very small, which can easily get lost when the next storm of life comes. He also practized for 8 years three hours of meditation daily with Kriya Yoga from the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda. Also there the spiritual progress was quite small compared to the effort.
Years later he met a german healer, who awakened in a seminar his Kundalini-Energy. Kundalini is life-force with consciousness, which - if once awakened - never stops to work for the human being. It´s like an automatism, which purifies your body, emotions, and soul from negative emotions like stress, fear, and many more, and finally leads you to enlightenment.Because Stephan was not a single case, he started to produce a movie for cinema, because people should know how easy and quick such things can happen. Through the request of the audience in the cinema, he started to lead seminars in summer 2015 together with his girl-friend, to forward this experience to others.
Listen to this amazing story, so you can find out, whether you also want to simplify and at the same time speed up your personal development.
Fri, 27 Mar 2020 - 34min - 301 - Sarah Williams Therapist Interview
Our bodies shift from carbon to crystalline structures a unique process never attempted before: Planetary shift occurs every 26000 years separated roughly into 13000-year cycles.
Ancient Mayans predicted a new world beginning commencing on 21/12/12. New light from Galactic central sun which came online through the lens/portal of our local sun on 28/9/15 reprogramming our cellular structures and nervous systems activating the physiological change via the chakras and nadis in our bodies.
Since these dates our bodies have been changing and we are experiencing many ascension symptoms. We each have 4 bodies: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual As suggested by Einstein and Tesla, to heal and evolve we must think in terms of frequency and vibration. We are vibrational beings of light encased in physical bodies which have been carbon-based. Our DNA is being upgraded by the new light frequencies going from 2 strand back to 12 strands. The light codes from our great central sun is literally changing our DNA. We are shifting through dimensions: 3d (fear-based) 4d ( fear karma and time) 5d (bliss and joy) Atlantis and Lemuria revisited. Bliss, instant manifestation and joy are coming soon. You may be there already? “ Sarah Williams

Mon, 29 Oct 2018 - 24min - 289 - NLP Podcast – Interview with Dan O’Connell
Interview with Dan O'Connell.
Dan introduces a profound and simple technique for reducing stress.
Please find steps below:
Reconnect with senses
At a time when you will not be distracted by phone etc, ensure that you have 5 minutes to yourself. I find the best way is to stand in the garden.
Relax those areas that may be tense: neck, back, bum, shoulders or wherever. You are going to go through your senses.
Imagine that you are looking at yourself from a window in your house. This called dissociation
Spend 30 seconds noticing what you see, and flavour it: is it moving? Notice your response from your window
Next, what can you hear? Traffic, voices, seagulls etc
Check you are still relaxed
Then what can you smell? Any cooking, your perfume, oil, flowers etc.
Now Taste. Can you taste anything? A bit of sugar on your lips from breakfast, your lipstick
Then, what can you feel? The wind? The sun? etc
Check relaxation again
Finally Emotions. How are you? Any strong emotions? They usually settle at the base of your spine. Are you conscious of anything there? I found that bad emotions, stress, anxiety collected there and then bubbled up and dispersed.
Result: So much better.

Relationships are just like a parts integration
* Keeping in mind that everyone is always making the best decision available to them, they are in a relationship because it is their best option. Not because it is, but because they view it as so.
* If we chunk up a person’s behavior compared to another person’s behavior (two parts of the parts integration) then we can come to their highest intent in a relationship.
* This should always be to have a successful relationship, as it will contribute to them living better, surviving better, or living more abundantly.
* Chunked down people may be with someone to hide insecurities, get over pain, or many others, but the highest intent of those will be to live better.
* This is only how they view themselves living better.
* They may be in a destructive relationship, but they view the net gain from making the change and leaving as more painful and less pleasurable than staying.
* If ever the two highest intentions of a relationship don’t match (live successfully, raise children appropriately, etc.) then this is sign that the two should break up.
* When you do chunk up to the highest intention you can use this to come to agreement with your partner.
* Example: John just wants to raise successful kids as do you. John does it this way and you do it this way. “How is it that you guys can come together to raise the kids more successfully?”
Anchoring others
* People are always anchoring emotions and feelings to you and their experience of you.
* Make the emotions as positive as you can.
* Avoid fighting
* Talk about happy uplifting things.
* Coming home from work and complaining is only going to anchor negative feelings to you.
* Spending more time away from each other, and aiming for generally only happier times together is a good idea.
* It can take just one event or experience to anchor negative emotions to yourself in the way that another person experiences you.
* This means trauma, lying, and deceit done only one time in a large emotional burst that impacts another can have a strong association to yourself.

This is the most important area of your life. The success or failure of this one area will largely impact every area of your life tremendously.
1.) Pre-Supposition: “Everyone is always making the best choice available to them based on their available options.”
* Find out how it is their best option and you can come to understanding.
* Use perceptual positions.
* Discover empathy
* Ask the questions that count.
* Also you can learn to predict their behavior, which could allow you to influence.
* Wife gets off work late, what does she want?
* Husband forgets to take out the trash, how can you inspire events that will make remembering to natural and easy?
* While dating you understand how a woman is generally bombarded with neediness. How can you demonstrate that you understand this and convey that she won’t get this with you?
* It will leave you with compassion and understanding.
* They weren’t trying to harm you with their behavior.
* That is just how they knew best to get what they wanted.
* Example: Guy that cuts you off in traffic was on the way to the hospital.
* You know don’t know the other battles that people are facing.
2.) Chunked up language for agreement
* A lot of people are talking about politics and I actually had a friend ask me how he could get out of disagreements with new people.
* Largely disagreements are only happening when focusing on finite, chunked down details of larger discussions.
* As we learned in rapport, we are generally going to want to connect with others and build rapport far more often than we are going to want to disagree and argue.
* It just serves our outcomes and theirs better.
* There is a time and a place for disagreement.
* Do this by taking the specific argument. It could be something as, “As I hate this political candidate because of x [financial policies for instance].”
* Then take that argument and chunk up the language, “Yes I think it’s important that [our country is able to prosper financially].”
* What you are doing here is making it difficult for someone to disagree with you.
* Hard to argue for someone wanting to be worse off financially as a nation. They are very likely to agree and you can build connection from there.
* It’s true to you. I don’t want you lying to connect with someone, and connecting on higher ideas, more important ideas, is going to be far more beneficial.
